Feb 20, 2007
for example.
I type "20 Feb 07", and excel formatting auto changes that to "Tuesday 20 Feb 07"
I actualy need this for a more complex formula...
if A1= any date from monday to sunday of one week, then A2= mondays date+21
the only way i can comprehend this is to make a formula that says if A1= a monday A2=date+21, A1= a tuesday A2=date+20, etc.

I am trying to create a chart which updates every time a new date (and its data) is added to my list below:
Date
Clicks
Impressions
Click Through Rate
01/06/2012
3
93
3.23
02/06/2012
4
100
4
03/06/2012
2
102
1.96
The chart plots the number of impressions and the Click through rate (on a secondary axis) against the date.
I think I need to use the offset property but am not totally sure how to do this

i m making a very small calculator. It's a little hard to describe, but I need to look like the following
Let's say the individual got here on 1 Jan
Phase 1 is for days 1-14 last for 14 days
Phase 2 is for Day 15-35 last for 21 days
Phase 3 is day 36+
This is what I need it to look like: All the phase information will compute automatically after inputting the date arrived. In addition I would also like to be able to change one of the phase dates and the remainder of the phases compensate according to the newly entered date.
Date Arrived = 01 Jan 09
Phase 1 = 01jan09
Phase 2 = 04Feb09
Phase 3 = 05 Feb09

I have created a spreadsheet which uses data validation to allow a user to select a company, start Date, end date, and projected months in order to output different figures. I have attached a spreadsheet to this post in case that was hard to understand.
Since there is data validation, indexing, and matching going on, as different selections are made, various tables change as a result. Uou will be able to see what I mean as you open the example sheet and start messing around with the data validation boxes.
The problem I am encountering now, is creating an exponential graph that will also keep changing as the user changes their selections in the data validation boxes. I am unsure if this is even possible, but I figured it was worth a shot to ask. On the example sheet, I have included a graph similar to the one I want, but it only contains data in a certain range of cells, rather than dynamically changing to accommodate whatever data is outputted.
Here is what I am looking for in the graph:
1. Whatever dates are selected by the user in the data validation boxes, along with the projected dates will be on the x-axis.
2. The PMPM figures associated with the selected dates, and the projected dates on the y-axis.
3. Ability to make different selections from the data validation boxes and still have a dynamic chart that keeps updating itself.

See the attached example. I have data listed as shown, but need the chart to automatically update whenever a new sales figure is added to the next month. I know you have to use the OFFSET to create dynamic ranges but I can't get it to work horizontally, only if my data is laid out vertically.

I am trying to write a simple macro to create a chart over the used range in a worksheet. The first part of the macro correctly selects the used range which in this case is A1 to F19 when I single step through the macro. A listing of the macro is shown below:
Code:
Sub AddChartObject()
'
Sheets("Sheet1").Activate
Range("A1").Select
Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlDown)).Select
Range(Selection, Selection.End(xlToRight)).Select
[Code]...
When I place the formula given in MyArea as an argument for the source data, I receive a syntax error, so obviously it is the wrong argument. Numerous attempts to correct it also failed. As a sanity check, I placed the used range in an argument for the source data and was able to create the expected chart. fix the syntax error in the macro

I have a general list from which a chart is created. Column one contains a date series. There are a fixed number of dates in this series (approx 50 or so).
I would like to select a start date and an end date from this list and have the chart display the data from that range.
Typically I would simply create a new list and build the chart from the list, but I'm kind of hoping that I could do it from a single source rather than make mulitple lists.

I am trying to get some help by adjusting my datarange dynamically based on what days I select. I would hope the chart could adjust to display for example 10/3/2008 to 10/10/2008 values and only those values.
I have been trying to figure out how the datarange varies in this post Dynamic Chart dataranges, I do not understand how to apply them to the charts source data. Ultimately Krish's chart would be ideal to understand and I belive is the keystone to where I am trying to go.
I have attached a sample of my workbook and the source data and chart I am trying to manipulate.

I have a spreadsheet created in Excel 2003 (which is what we use at work, unfortunately).
My employees periodically take a test to ensure they have certain items memorized (or are making progress to that end). The spreadsheet rows show all 46 of my employees, and their test scores. The columns are the dates that the tests are administered. I can create a line graph based on the chart data, and interpolate these data with no problems.
The problem is that there are 46 employees! 46 lines on the same graph make for a very cluttered, hard to understand visual. I want to simplify the view by "filtering out" some of the data.
I have an additional column in my spreadsheet for each employee's work area (Area 1, Area 2, etc), and another column with data based on first letter of last name (the values here could be "A-G", "H-M", "N-S" and "T-Z", for example). I figure i could filter my line graph based on these two columns. For example, somehow select just Area 1, and reduce the number of lines on the graph to 16. Or better yet, Choose "Area 2" AND "A-M" and end up with 7 employees (and therefore 7 lines on the graph).
Here's what i have tried:
1) Select the work area column, and use the Filter, which created a drop-down list at the column heading. When i use this drop-down list, i can easily filter the data in the worksheet by Work Area, but this is not reflected in the line graph, which still shows all 46 lines. The problem was that i forgot that i had set the Calculation Options to "Manual". Setting this to "Automatic" (or leaving it on Manual and pressing F9) solved the problem, as the chart now updates when i use the filters. Calculation options are under the "Formula" tab in 2007, or in Tools -> Options -> [either calculation or formula, i forget what it's called] in 2003.
2) Create several separate line graphs in several separate sheets. I wouldn't want to assign someone else the task of maintaining a spreadsheet of such inefficient design.

I'm trying to create a line graph to show the trends of usage. I have a list of dates that I pulled from a website. I am trying to create a function that will count the number of dates between, for example, 8/5/2013 and 8/11/2013.
I had tried using this function to create a set of weekly ranges. =TEXT(DATE(2013, 1, 7)+(ROW(2:2)-1)*7, "m/d/yyyy h:mm AM/PM")&"-"&TEXT(DATE(2013, 1, 7)+(ROW(2:2)-1)*7+6,"m/d/yyyy h:mm AM/PM")
It correctly displays the date ranges, however when using this function:
=COUNTIF($E$2:$E$305, A2) Nothing gets pulled.
Here is one of the dates that has been pulled for example: 8/5/2013 11:10:00 AM

Trying to create an excel chart to create totals based upon different keys. I
need to be able to calculate how many customers there are by Manager and then
By Rep. Then to figure out how many were New, Current, Total # of RSVP and
attended for that Rep. Below is how I have started but I am having some
problems getting certain parts. I know when I get one the rest will fall into
place. I can calculate how many total customers by manager and by rep just by
doing a Countif command but how do I determine the # of New, Current etc. Is
there a If Than command? Managers Totals are simply his reps totals.
Example..
A B C D E
F G
1 Manager Rep Customer New Biz Current # RSVP # Actual Attend
Need totals to look something like this....
A B C D E
F G
1 # of Cust # New # Current #RSVP #
Actual Attend
2 Manager
3 Rep 1
4 Rep 2

Creating a formula that basically has a big IF statement. I hope this makes sense, so here goes. I am looking to find the "age" or "elapsed days" of an ID from when they created an account to when they stopped. This might be very complex and if there's not a way to calculate the Elapsed days (even though that's what I prefer), perhaps there is some formula that can return a value like a "1" or "True" or something that lets me know the statement is true.
original formula from post 3261273
{=IF(D2>0,A2-INDEX(A$2:D$16,MATCH(B2&"1",B$2:B$16&C$2:C$16,0),1),"")}
New formulas needed or revised from the above:
Formula 1: If the ID in column 2 are the same, and if there is a value in column 3 (Create) and a value in Column 4 (Suspend) AND there is no value in Column 5 (Stopped), then subtract the dates in column 1 for Create and Suspend. My manual calculation result is in the column called "Elapsed Days (Create to Suspend but NO Stopped)
Formula 2: If the ID in column 2 are the same, and if there is a value in column 3 (Create) and a value in Column 4 (Suspend) AND there is no value in Column 5 (Stopped) OR Column 6 (Unsuspend), then subtract the dates in column 1 for Create and Suspend. My manual calculation result is in the column called "Elapsed Days (Suspend Only, No stopped or Unsuspend)"
Formula 3: The ID in column 2 does not have to be the same, but if there is a value in column 3 only (Create) and there is no value in the Suspend, Stopped, or Unsuspend columns, then place a "1" in the cell. My manual calc is the "Create Only" column.
Event Date
ID
CREATE
Suspend
STOPPED
Unsuspend
Elapsed Days (Create to Suspend but NO Stopped)
Elapsed Days (Suspend Only, No stopped or Unsuspend)
[Code] .........

I'm trying to loop through a worksheet where each row is an individual record. I need a macro to read the row and create a chart on a separate worksheet for that row, then move on until a chart has been created for each individual row. In English the problem is:
Read Row 1
Create chart based on row 1 data in new worksheet 1
Read Row 2
Create chart based on row 2 data in new worksheet 2
And so on

I have a table of data which moves up and down my report depending on user input changes to the source data.
I have written some VBA code to generate a chart based on this table of data. I have managed to create a basic chart from this table. However I need to change the series (on the chart) from rows to columns so that it is displayed correctly. For this I need to have the cell references within the code belonging to the actual chart.
If I was writing the code for the chart with an absolute reference I would write it as:
ActiveChart.SetSourceData Source:= Sheets("Group").Range("B50:F53"), PlotBy:=xlColumns
This obviously works fine, however when a user makes a change to the source data the table is now out of sync with the chart references.
I am trying to write it as:
ActiveChart.SetSourceData Source:=Sheets("Group").Range(ActiveCell.Offset(-1, -1), ActiveCell.Offset(2, 3)), PlotBy:=xlColumns
Where am I going wrong?
My full code is as follows:
Private Sub CreateRegionChart()
Worksheets("group").ChartObjects.Item(2).Delete
Range(ActiveCell.Offset(-1, -1), ActiveCell.Offset(2, 3)).Select
Charts.Add
ActiveChart.ChartType = xlColumnClustered
'ActiveChart.SetSourceData Source:=Sheets("Group").Range(ActiveCell.Offset(-1, -1), ActiveCell.Offset(2, 3)), PlotBy _
:=xlColumns
ActiveChart.Location Where:=xlLocationAsObject, Name:="Group"
With ActiveChart
.HasTitle = True
.ChartTitle.Characters.Text = "Title"
.Axes(xlCategory, xlPrimary).HasTitle = False
.Axes(xlValue, xlPrimary).HasTitle = True
.Axes(xlValue, xlPrimary).AxisTitle.Characters.Text = "Label"
End With

Is there any way to let Excel auto select the Risk discription and copy it into the chart?
