I need to write a formula but excel shows an error message "Formula Too Long." There are two long strings of the formula that I repeat several times. Is there any way to put these strings in other cells and reference them within the formula? Each of the strings looks very similar to this:
I am working on using an excel workbook as part of a roll playing game and I am trying to record a macro and then put that in a command button which uses the randbetween, multiple if statements and multiple vlookup functions. I have successfully done similar things by just recording a macro and then pasting that into the VB editor. However this time I get a unable to record macro after putting the formula in the selected cell. I have tried copy and paste and just typing the formula with the same results.
Upon executing the formula I then want it to copy and paste special- values the result.
I'm assuming I have to put the VB code in manually but when I tried to do the formula I got a syntax error.
The worksheet I am working on is named new and I've included the formula in the a text box. I would like the result to show in J12 and be triggered by pressing the cmnbutton in k12.
I have a large spreadsheet, within which i am trying to remove commas from all cells. I get the error 'formula is too long' when I carry out the search. Some of the cells are >1024 characters in length and contain dates, text etc.
I just want to see if this is possible, here is the code but what I want is a message box that display how long cetain code has taken to run.
I have most of what I need I just need to figure out how to take one varaible away from another to give the run time... but no idea where to start with it.
Private Type SYSTEMTIME wYear As Integer wMonth As Integer wDayOfWeek As Integer wDay As Integer wHour As Integer wMinute As Integer wSecond As Integer wMilliseconds As Integer End Type
Private Declare Sub GetSystemTime Lib "kernel32" (lpSystemTime As SYSTEMTIME) Public Function TimeToMillisecond() As String.........
When clicking the button on my userform, it goes through a quite complex process of changing the views in several pivot tables that are linked to an "report" sheet, which has all the figures the user needs in a neat format.
Changing these pivot tables takes up to a minute, so I wanted a userform, called "frmwait", to pop when clicking the command button. It would say "Generating Your Report - Please Wait". At the same time, the initial userform, which is called "frmroutedashboard", would be hidden.
This does not happen - the "frmwait" userform shows, however the "frmroutedashboard" does not hide.
Is this because the code I composed uses the values on the "frmroutedashboard" to generate the view, and it cannot hide until the report is completed? If so, there must be a way around this. Anyone know how?
I have worked on this really difficult long formula, but the problem is, I have been working from my Mac. And my office, which this formula was made for, is all PC. Now generally this isn't a problem, but apparently PC's have a limit on how long the formula can be. Is there anyway to overcome this? I really need this formula to work..
Because countif cannot be used across multiple tabs, I'm using the following workaround where "MySheets" is the range of tabs and E8 is the cell I want "counted".
This works perfectly, except that I really need COUNTIFS... I want Excel to count either "Fully implemented" or "Partially implemented" when in E8. I cannot get the formula to work and keep getting an error message.
I'm working on a spreadsheet that i have a long if statement and it keeps till me i have a error. I stated reading and come to find out you can only have 7 statement.
I am entering the following Nested IF(AND statement into a cell and getting a message stating "You've entered too many arguments for this function." Any idea on what formula I can use to get the needed information into this cell based on the fact that there are different inputs that can be entered into the related cell that will trigger the needed respons in the working cell?
I am looking for a more efficient way to write a macro (a sample from the macro is below). This is just the first part of the macro. I need to repeat these same steps (seen for row 5 below) for rows 5 to 50. My script worked until I hit row 35 and then I got the "compile error.." message. There must be a way to use "loop" to write this more efficiently, no?
If InStr( Cells(i, 3).Value, "Other") > 0 Then _ Cells(i, 3).Replace What:="Other", Replacement:=Cells(i, 4).Value
This seems to work fine for the most part. However, if the value in Cells(i, 4) is too long, I seem to get a Run-time error '13': Type mismatch. Is there any way to rework this code so it can replace even if the string in Cells(i, 4).Value is too long?
This task joins a string together based on a number of characters per cell in the range.
I want to isolate one range, Col N, and add an IF condition to it.
There may be other issues preventing this from happening, e.g. the number of IF that exist in the complete formula. I will isolate the current cell and its requirements and then post the entire formula at the end for reference....
For some reason my form won't open when the workbook is opened. I get an error message "run time error '424' object required" (which happens when I have Form1.show in the BOTH workbook_open event and the userform_initialize event (oops)). When I removed form1.show from the userform_initialize I don't get an error but I also get no form. I recall having this issue before but I can't recall how to fix it.
Can I call the userform_initialize event from the workbook open event to get around this successfully and properly?
I do hit the SCE (Shift-CTRL-Enter) keys. The formula does work in one workbook, but not the other. The only difference between the two workbooks is this formula has a larger range.
New Formula- doesn't work (ERROR- #DIV/0!) {=AVERAGE(IF(Sheet1!A3:A1094="MONDAY",Sheet1!E3:E1094))}
Old Formula- works {=AVERAGE(IF(B6:B451="MONDAY",E6:E451))}
Got a formula that goes like this: =IF((L1=1),"Product 1",IF((L2=2),"Product 2",IF((L2=3),"Product 3",IF((L2=4),"Product 4".... and so on for a further 100 or so products. Obviously, this formula is too long for one cell.
I get spreadsheets sent to me with hours and minutes in decimal format. Frequently a quarter of an hour or three quarters of an hour are posted as 0.15 or 0.45 instead of 0.25 and 0.75. Other odd fractions can also appear.
I want an error message if the value when divisible by 0.25 is not a whole number.
I wanted to make a pop up alert message appear whenever the formula in a cell gives a particular output.
Before posting this i tried looking for similar posts before, but the ones found do not solve my problem. There it asks me to write the following code in VBA,
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Dim MyRange As String
MyRange = "A1"
If Me.Range(MyRange).Value = "Have Meeting" Then MsgBox "Have Meeting" End If End Sub
But my doing so, I can not use any formula in the cell A1 or any other cell i give reference as MyRange. I will always have to physically type "Have Meeting" or any other word assigned in the above.
I am writing some code to do a comparison between two cells X2 or AB2 with an X which checks to: 1. make sure one of the two are filled, or 2. both are not filled. Below is an extract of the spreadsheet I am working on. I need to check to make sure one of the boxes is checked. If both are empty or both filled with an ("X"), I want a message box to tell me to correct the error and stop the macro from continuing. If only one is marked with an ("X"), I want the macro to continue but don't know how.
I am receiving an #Value! error message from my sumproduct formula: =SUMPRODUCT((Data!$A$2:$A$47=G$2)*(Data!$B$2:$B$47=G$4)*(Data!$A$1:$N$1=$B21)*(Data!$A$2:$N$47))
As follows: Data!$A$2:$A$47 is a date G$2 is a date within the context
Data!$B$2:$B$47 is a unit number G$4 is a unit number within the context
Data!$A$1:$N$1 are descriptive titles $B21 is a decriptive string within the same context (copy paste)
Data!$A$2:$N$47 are to be summed is all criteria are met.
