Error Stating "text"
Mar 31, 2008I'm not sure how to fix this formula. It's a error stating "text".
The cell is: T8 & U8
=IF(S8="","",NETWORKDAYS(R8,S8))
=IF(T8="","",IF(T8>7,"N","Y"))

I'm trying to attach an Excel file but I keep getting a message stating it's an invalid file. I don't remember having trouble before attaching here, but I am now. What must I do?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using this sumproduct and it works until a cell has text.
=SUMPRODUCT(($C7:$C16=$C$2)*($D7:F16))
I've tried =SUMPRODUCT(--($C7:$C16=$C$2),($D7:F16)) but got the #Value! error because of the D7:F16 range. If I changed it to become F7:F16, then it works. But...my original formula adds all values giving me a YTD result. If I changed the range to be only F7:F16, then all I get is just that column's data. I have January to December's data across the columns from D to F. Any ideas on keeping my D to F range? I've tried Transpose but it didn't work either.
I am struggling to figure out why my vlookup does not work, i am trying to vlookup invoice cost based on the model numbers which is in text.
I have converted the text to general but this still does brings the N/A errors, is there something else i am forgetting?.
I have an excel workbook with a form... Not I used this for and the code in other workbooks but this one just does not want to work.... I think the problem is somewhere in the code below but I can't point it out...
Private Sub UserForm_Initialize()
cboDocument.Value = ""
With cboDataType
.AddItem "Voluntary"
.AddItem "AIP"
.AddItem "CA Low Cost"
.AddItem "Takeout"
.AddItem "Terr Cr"
.AddItem "Vol Cr"
End With
The code I have (without splitting) is in the attached workbook (sheet1).
When you enter something into Column H, the value of =NOW() should appear in Column K.
The original code only went up to row 212 and it works fine. Now I need it to do the same up to row 411 but get the "Procedure too large" error.
I've tried some form of:
[Code] ....
but doesn't seem to work for me.

iam trying to hightlite the textbox text after the error message.

If I insert the code into the actual log file (no button and no opening of files), it works fine. I searched this forum and others and used everything I learned to find a solution, but the error remains.
I've created a form and would like to use a macro to transfer the form information details (form) from an intermediate worksheet (database intermediate) to the main database worksheet (database).
So far I've only been able to record a simple macro that will do just that. However, when I click on my assigned macro again, the information is washed away and the new form details have replaced it. Been trying to use the x1down coding to make it such that each new data goes onto the subsequent line? But I can't seem to get it right without getting an error message.
I've attached the file to give you a better picture,
I'm getting an N/A error on my MATCH formula.
I'm trying to match a cell reference, rather than a specific text or value.
Here is the syntax I used. MATCH(Cell,Table Array Name, 0)
I have made sure that the text matches exactly and the cell formats are the same.
I'm using Data Validation for various fields in a form and I'm trying to make it user friendly by adding Error Alert conditions and text explaining why the error has occurred. I also want the form to be translatable into other languages.
For some VBA message boxes that get displayed I can put the English text in some hidden cells and that can be translated easily by someone without access to the code. But I cannot figure out how to make the Data Validation Error Alert messages point to a cell so that they are also translatable without forcing the translator to open each Data Validation dialog.
I am trying to convert cells (all in column D) which are separated by "~" into columns. Unfortunately, running the text to columns command on several rows at a time can cause Excel to panic with an out of memory error (error #7 etc.).
The file is ~100mb and contains 500k-700k rows (I have 4GB of RAM so I know this is more a limit of Excel's 2GB RAM constraint).
Can you please help me write a macro to text to column convert each cell in column D?
I tried a macro which started with a for loop, and called the function for each cell individually, but even this led to an out of memory exception after 156,000 rows (although the same macro worked fine on a similar sheet with 700,000 rows).
Are there any other ways of clearing the Excel buffer/temporary space during the function calls to avoid causing Excel to crash?
I have the following macro which I've pieced together which works great at clearing the cell as long as the text entered by the user is found in the specified column.
Unfortunately I'm a big rookie with this stuff and I can't figure out how to handle the process/error when an entered value is not found. When ChosenRow returns with a 0 I get a Run time error '91', Object Variable or With Block variable not set.
The code...
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
oldSheet$ = ActiveSheet.Name
Dim ChosenRow As Long
Dim loc As Variant
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
With UserForm4
loc = .TextBox1.Text
End With
With ActiveWorkbook
Sheets("Reference").Select
End With
I was wondering it were possible to reference an error. I'd like a cell to have white text if $O19 produces a #N/A error. I tried formula
=($O19=#N/A)
and the formula
=($O19="#N/A")
I know different variations of this question get asked all the time... but I can't find an answer that I'm sure will *always* do what I want.
I have a range of cells (A1:A10), and I want to count all the text entries of positive length. That is to say, I don't want to count:
blanks
numbers
zeros
spaces
errors
I'm sure I need to use the LEN function, but I can't quite figure out how.
this counting expression will be inserted in a SUMPRODUCT formula

I am trying to develop a code which extracts the data from text files inside a folder (Folder test in my desktop) into one sheet. The Macro is in the workbook “Text Extract” which is an excel 2007 file. The data of each text should be copied to Sheet1 of this workbook one below the other. For testing purpose I have kept only one text file in the folder and was trying to copy the data from the text data extracted sheet to Cell A1 of Sheet1 of workbook “Text Extract”. The code works fine till copying the data, but shows below error in the line “Selection.Paste”:

When I am running a macro in excel 2003/windows 7 and trying to create a text file, it is giving this error. I am attaching two pictures.

I am using a macro do display actual date, by copy pasting special, so that the day and month is always 2 digits: ie. 01, 02, etc. in case less than 10.
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Sheets("Sheet2"). Range("C4").Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=TEXT(TODAY(),""dd"")"
Range("D4").Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=TEXT(TODAY(),""mm"")"
Range("E4").Select
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=TEXT(TODAY(),""yyyy"")"
Range("C4:E4").Select
Selection.Copy
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _
:=False, Transpose:=False
Application.CutCopyMode = False
Range("A4").Select
Sheets("Sheet2").Range("C4:D4").NumberFormat = "00"
End Sub
I paste special so the user does not see this formula. However, there is that annoying notification saying it is a number stored as text. What is the universal way to switch this warning off (or to better write the macro) so this warning will not be on any version of Excel?
I am using Office 2007. I have a cell that is set to wrap the text. Only thing is when it goes over 273 characters or so it no longer wraps and all I see is ###########. Is there a text wrap limit? I don't recall there being a limit. I tried making the cell height larger but that didn't work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedError Check Marco.xlsm
see attached example. I am trying to write an error detection routine that iterates through worksheets that have numeric values for names (ignore text names or alphanumeric). Macro checks range on each numeric worksheet E3:E33 and is supposed to report back on the SummarySheet if any value other than 1 or 0 is found in range E3:E33 on any numeric-name worksheet. Code as follows:
[Code] ....
Problem is that it just reports EVERY worksheet as having an error when clearly most don't (none do I think in the attached example).
Try changing some of ranges E3:E33 to values other than 1 or 0, it still reports all sheets. Why the macro does not evaluate the range E3:E33 properly and just reports every worksheet as having an error?
See the attached sheet. I am trying to add together two figs which are linked to calculations which have formula built in to stop error messages when there is a 0 / 0 = #value type error. However when these two cells are added, if the cells are blank I get an error message. And if only one cell has a value, I get "" with my existing formula. what I need to do to get a result of 7 if for example cell A4 = "" + B4 =7. At the moment my formula shows "" in the sum total of these cells
View 5 Replies View RelatedOK, so I have a userform with some text boxes that I have specially formatted to accept only date values in the form of mm/dd/yy. By default they are blank. I have a check in one of my codes that looks like this
Code:
If DateBox vbNullString And DateValue(DateBox) > checkdate Then
M1 = "NEOPRENE" & Chr(13)
Else
M1 = "" & Chr(13)
End If
Where DateBox is this specially formatted TextBox and checkdate is a future date being checked against.So if DateBox has a value in it AND that value is greater than the date being checked against the returend string is Neoprene, otherwise it is blank.
Well the problem I have is when the first condition returns FALSE, i.e. when DateBox is empty, the DateValue half still gets evaluated and returns a type missmatch error or something like that because DateValue("") returns an error. I have line of code 8 times, one for Neoprene, squeegee, etc. So the name of the text boxes are each unique and I am using M1, M2, M3, etc.
For other reasons, use of "On Error Resume Next" doesn't work for this situation because it causes a result opposite to what I want to happen.
the if stattement works perfectly and does exactly what i want except when it comes to the else part. if there is no error the statements are run perfectly but if there is an error (in this case the error is generated when a match cannot be found in the spreadsheet) the else statement doesnt kick in and post the msgbox.
the code just crashes. and returns an error 1004 on the line i have highlighted in yellow
res = WorksheetFunction.Match(invvar, Columns(1), 0)
If Not IsError(res) Then
Me.txtClientID.Value = ws13. Cells(res, 7)
Me.txtNumber.Value = ws13.Cells(res, 7)
Me.txtDate.Value = ws13.Cells(res, 8)
'save client id as a variable
'Print to invoice------------------------------------------------------------------.....................
I am trying to run create a simple macro that copies and paste special values - something I have done 100's of times but for some reason I keep getting an error message - even though I recorded the macro and didnt write it by hand - see below:
Sub Macro6()
Cells.Select
selection.Copy
selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks _
:=False, Transpose:=False
End Sub
For which I get 'Compile Error - Expected Function or Variable'
I have some code that, although works fine in Excel 2003, does not in Excel 1997. I receive this error when I try running it:
COMPILE ERROR:
NAMED ARGUMENT NOT FOUND
Sub HPVAL()
Dim r As Range, myStr As String
myStr = "HP"
Set r = Cells. Find(What:=myStr, After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlFormulas, LookAt _
:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, MatchCase:= _
False, SearchFormat:=False)
If Not r Is Nothing Then
r = r.Value
While Not r Is Nothing
Set r = Cells.FindNext(r)
If Not r Is Nothing Then
r = r.Value
End If
Wend
End If
End Sub
It looks like Excel is getting hung up on the "SearchFormat:=" portion of the code.
So the issue I am having is that I have a worksheet with two long rows of value. If the user enters the incorrect value, the program gives a error case of 1004. If and when this error occurs I want the program to send a MessageBox to the user then end the program. The problem that I am running into is that whenever I write On Error Goto... It Goes to the label whenever any runtime error occurs. My belief is that there has to be a way to only check for a runtime error on a single line of code rather than the entire sub.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have written a Excel (2003) that searches a worksheet for a string in any cell. If the string is not found, it uses the 'On Error GoTo' command to jump to a given label. It works fine on the first string not found. When it searches for the next non-existent string, it fails with:
'Run-time error '91':
Object variable or With block variable not set'
Do I have to clear a buffer after each cells.find search?

I am looking for a more efficient way to write a macro (a sample from the macro is below). This is just the first part of the macro. I need to repeat these same steps (seen for row 5 below) for rows 5 to 50. My script worked until I hit row 35 and then I got the "compile error.." message. There must be a way to use "loop" to write this more efficiently, no?
