If you press the button twice you will get run-time error 1004 becuase Excel can't find any empty cells.
I want a function that counts blank cells before running the macro. If there are no blanks I don't want to execute the macro. That is to avoid run-time error 1004.
I export data into Excel format from a corporate reporting tool. 1 column includes a product description in text format, however, due to the many different products I need to count the number of cells based on a single word in the product description.
Hypothetical Example:
The report contains various information about vehicles. The product description exports to a single column and may include "Ford Fusion", "Ford Focus", "Chevrolet Malibu", "Chevrolet Impala", etc. I only need to count how many cells contain information about Fords and Chevrolets. The model detail is not needed.
I'm able to count if I enter the complete and exact make & model description, but want to avoid this due to the large quantity of products.
I'm using Excel 2007, on Windows 7, 64 Bit Enterprise
Add a blank space after a specific text? I have many cells in a column that all begin with the same two letters followed by more text. Something like this:
I want to count the number of cells in a range that have text in them (any text at all) but not count them if they have numbers in them or are blank. How would this formula be written?
I have many sheets in my workbook with many filled or unfilled cells... I want that any cell in my whole workbook should be filled with " " ie a space if it is currently blank (ie don't touch the cells which have some data) and as there are many cells in a sheet .. I don't want to fill them with spaces as the file size will increase... I just want to do this for cells A-1 to AB-200.
What is the way of doing this with a formula or programming ie without macros... (or is macro the only way?) What if I just want to do this to a sheet and not to the whole workbook.
I am trying to total the number of cells in a column that are 0 or greater but less than 365. I use countif for for a specific digit but cannot compute a conditional range using it. I need to count the number of positive digits btwn 0 and 365. The column is a computation of the difference btwn today and past and future dates. A plus digit means we missed sevice and better be ready for an angry customer.
In Excel 2007, Windows 7 Home Premium, I am trying to summarise multiple worksheets into one sheet, creating a list in one column in this summary sheet that includes the cell contents from the same cell from each sheet. For example, my first sheet is called KCD183 and I want to list the value from KCD183 Cell A2 in my Summary Cell A2, then show KCD184 Cell A2 in Summary Cell A3 (i.e. the next row down). So my Summary sheet will list all cell A2s from all my sheets, 1 after the other down column A and will continue to add these for any new sheets I add.
I realise that I could just export the spreadsheet to Access and report on it from there, but I don't have the software!
But I dont want it to count the cells if the entire row, within that cell, i.e. C6:AD6, is blank.
It should only count the blank cells within a row if there has been some data entered on that row..provided it has been entered within the specified range.
The formula below calculates appropriately, however, if any of the cells (E12,E14, E21, E22, E28, E29) are blank, it returns a #VALUE! error. I would like the cell to remain blank. How can I do this? The formula is listed below.
I have a list of 1500 addresses in a column, something like, 5VistaTerrace, and I need to insert a space between the number and each of the words so that it reads 5 Vista Terrace in the cell.
All of the addresses are different, some with 4 or 5 words like 5ABrownBayCourt... that particular one I would want to read 5A Brown Bay Court in the end.
Is there a formula or excel trick I can perform to save me the time of manually adding the spaces?
I was curious if it is possible to give a single cell multiple number formats based on what the number is in the cell. So for example if my number is bigger than 1000, I would like to use comas so that it looks like this 1,000. However, if it is less than 1000 I would like it to look more like this 999.00.
I have been working on different formulas to return the text string between the first and last space and have been unsuccessful. Is this possible?
I have tried several combos or Left and Right, I have been able to get the values after the first space, and the values before the last space, but not between the spaces.
String: Y60 ~C CULT NUCLEUS 3X2 SPRING WST BK XL
Desired results: D60 CULT NUCLEUS 3X2 SPRING WST BK
I'm trying to find out exactly how I can use sum product on cells that have text and numeric values. Here's my sample data (6 points):
TN FX1576 20, TN FX1577 25, AZ FX1577 30, AZ FX1577 35, FW FX 1577 40, and FW 1577 45.
I wish to do the following: I want to sum all of the right numeric values based on the first two text values(TN, AZ, or FW). I want to sum these numbers to their respective total cells at the top of the page. So far I can sum the numeric values fine using the following formula: =sumproduct((right(range,2)*1) but when I try to differentiate between the respective locations (AZ, TN, or FW) I get an error message.
Attached is an example of what I'm trying to do along with the formula I'm currently using and yellow shading to represent where I want my respective sums to go.
I am not sure if this is possible, but worth a shot. I am using a countif function to count a cells and I want it to count only if it has text, followed by a space then more text. I've been able to count the text only followed by a space, but cant figure in the more text part.
I have a spreadsheet for which I have to set up a formula to get the minimum value from a range of cells, but that range can include blank cells, errors (#DIV/0) and zeros, all of which I want to be ignored. I can work out how to ignore EITHER the zeros
(=MIN(IF(C10:G100,C10:G10)),
or the error cells
(=MIN(IF(ISNUMBER(C9:G9),C9:G9)),
How to exclude both. If I try to combine both of these exclusion criteria it doesn't work and I end up with the answer #DIV/0, which is one of the values I want it to ignore.
I'm trying to develop a new daily timesheet for my production workers, where non-production items are recorded in 15 minute intervals. The user would put in "Clock in" by the corresponding time, and the same for "Clock out" at the end of the day. Any non-production items will be type in next to their appropriate time. Since clock in and clock out times will vary, I need to set up a formula that searches the array of cells for the day, finds the "Clock in" and "Clock out" values, and counts any blank cells in between them. Basically the blank cells will equal production time, and the result of the Count function will be multiplied by 0.25 to get the hours.
I am having a very difficult time finding a way to set the "Clock in" and "Clock out" cells as the range for the Count function, because it won't always be the same cells. What would be the best way to automatically have excel find the cells containing these values and set them as the range criteria for a Count function?
The formula at the bottom was one of my initial attempts, but it didn't work. I took out the '=' for the screenshot, so that wasn't the problem.
Need to create a simple loop, I have 50 cells (need to paste in lowest cell) - I need this to occur:
-Is cell A1 empty? if yes - paste -some other stuff happens... -Is cell A1 empty? no, is cell A2 empty? - paste -some other stuff happens... -Is cell A1 empty? no, is cell A2 empty?, no, is call A3 empty? -paste
I am trying to develop a code which extracts the data from text files inside a folder (Folder test in my desktop) into one sheet. The Macro is in the workbook “Text Extract” which is an excel 2007 file. The data of each text should be copied to Sheet1 of this workbook one below the other. For testing purpose I have kept only one text file in the folder and was trying to copy the data from the text data extracted sheet to Cell A1 of Sheet1 of workbook “Text Extract”. The code works fine till copying the data, but shows below error in the line “Selection.Paste”:
Run time error 438: Object doesn’t support this property or method.
Below is the code: Sub LoopThroughFiles() Dim strFile As String Dim strPath As String
I've set up an email to be sent via a macro (excel 2007 and outlook) and I expanded the body of the message and it now comes up with an error "Compile error: invalid outside procedure"
It was working when I only had 4 lines and now it's not working.
Please find attached a daily copy of a spreadsheet that is used to monitor train running times.
The columns on the left - "Serv No, Serv Start Date,Train No:, Scheduled Arrival, Scheduled Depart" are provided to us automatically and the underlying cell formatting/formula cannot be changed. This information is cut directly from a daily report sent to us the previous day. The cell formatting for the start date is custom - dd-mm-yyyy hh:mm.
The sheet is usually locked out with user access only to the left hand side to cut and paste train times in and the input columns on the right hand side. User has no requirement to adjust any details in the left had column apart from to add additional trains at the bottom is need be. I have left the loaded sheet blank and complete with all underlying cell formatting, conditional formatting and formulas intact for you to play with.
Both sheets essentially do the same thing so whatever formula changes are made to the empty sheet can be adapted for the loaded sheet.
For simplicity, I will focus on the empty sheet. What I am mucking around with is having the user input the train arrival time in the "Actual Arrival" column - (column F)
What I am looking at then making occur is the spreadsheet automatically filling the adjacent columns with the appropriate text and calculations.
To do this excel needs to compare column the number (cell input is text formatted) as a number with the arrival time in column G. It then needs to calculate if the train is Early (16 minutes or more before scheduled arrival), on time (+/- 15 minutes either side of scheduled arrival) or late (16 minutes or more after scheduled). It then needs to automatically place the letter "E", "O" or "L" in column K and the time differential in column L.
My problem is two fold.
Firstly, I cannot seem to make the spreadsheet automatically enter a letter into column K depending on the above conditions.
Secondly, I have had limited success in having the spreadsheet compare column J with column F and working out the differential. However, this only works if the time remains linear. IE only if the train runs on time or late. It gives an incorrect time differential if the train is early. I will attach this spreadsheet tomorrow as an add on to this post.
how to create a macro that will count blank cells. I've tried several different variations of a basic 'count cells' macro, but I can't seem to find the right one.
If anyone would be kind enough to post a solution VBA, I would be extremely thankful, and so would my superiors. I'm an intern trying to get my foot in the door, and this would certainly be a first major step for me.
I have a spreadsheet where I'm trying to determine the number of weeks that have transpired since the last sale of an item. COUNTBLANK is the direction I started in but it only shows the number of blank cells, it doesn't count the blanks until it recognizes a numeric value and stop. Essentially, I need a "count until x happens" function.
I've attached an example to walk through the issue. The weeks are across the top, the item number in col A, and I've put the result I'm expecting in col B.
I require a Formula to calculate the INTERVALS (the number of Rows between the LAST instance and the PREVIOUS instance in a column) between each individual occurrence of any designated PAIR of Numeric values (single-digit / double-digit) in the same Row of the Named Range "Results" and return each calculated INTERVAL result to a separate Column on the same Row of a New Sheet - starting with the most recent ( the LAST) occurrence.
For instance, each time 80 and 87 appear together in the same Row, return the INTERVAL by calculating the number of Rows between the LAST instance and the PREVIOUS instance in a column - locate when both Numeric values LAST appeared together and Count back to their PREVIOUS appearance together to get the required Count; i.e. count from the Row ABOVE LAST appearance to the Row BEFORE PREVIOUS appearance.
The results are returned to a chart / matrix layout: I have the criterion vertically and horizontally and they are referenced using the horizontal and vertical cell address that houses each criterion, and the results are returned across the Row of the intercept of the vertical and horizontal criterion. At some point both criterion values being referenced will be the same, can the Formula return empty text "" when this occurs?
Example Chart / Matrix Layout: Cell Ref. A2 and B1 criterion 80 and 80 Cell Ref. A3 and B1 criterion 81 and 80 Cell Ref. A4 and B1 criterion 82 and 80
