How To Chart A Table To A Specific Format
Feb 2, 2012I'm looking to generate a chart out of a table of data. I want the Y-axis to show a percentage return on an investment.
On the x-axis I want to have a range of scenarios from a market average return of -40% to +40%. Obviously, I wish for 0% to sit in the middle of the x-axis.
I'd want to have 3 lines observable in the chart. I'd be looking to build the above out of a table almost exactly like this:

I will need to group Data multiple ways. However, I cant work out a good way to sort it. Can I have a suggestion on layout that I will be able to arrange data appropriately.
Format Color Of Pivot Chart Data Series
Mar 12, 2008I'm trying to format the color of the data series in a graph that was produced from a pivot table. The pivot table contains a count of each traffic light in each project phase. eg.

From this I have created a bar graph. (graph does not represent above data). Now, I'm trying to get each data series to represent their own colour. Instead of the default formatting. Cause every time I click on refresh data on the pivot table, it resets it to default.

Conditional Format Chart Data Series Points
May 16, 2008Background: I have a Chart sheet with a combination bar/line chart on it. Data is coming from a "datasheet". There is a combo box on the chart sheet that allows you to choose a specific office whose data you want to view. Pick an office from the dropdown and the chart changes. The data is a count of closed cases by month. The data sheet shows 22 Offices with their monthly data, along with entries for each month of the Upper Control Point, Lower Control Point and Mean based on the nationwide data for that month.
The chart itself uses bars to show the office's case count per month, and I've incorporated 3 additional data series to plot the UCP, LCP and Mean as lines for each month.
I'd like to change the color of the bars to be Blue, Green or Red depending on where they fall in the 3 lines. I sort of have it working, but I'm stuck.
The code below grabs the value of each series point and compares it to the 3 control points and does change the colors. I've figured out how to use the If, next to change from one series point to the next, but cannot figure out how to loop through each of the control points. As it stands now, it looks only at the first month's control point and uses that for each successive month.
I hope this is clear and I've tried to keep it as short as possible while still providing enough information.

Mar 7, 2014I have a set of data listed by country, I need to add a new country to the list and I want to keep everything in alphabetical order. My problem is that adding a new series to the range anywhere but the end throws of the series formatting for my chart. The plotted points on my chart are the countries flag, so when everything shifts down a row the flags no longer represent the proper country. Is there an easy way to add the new country and keep my formatting lined up or will I need to redo the formatting for all the alphabetically lower countries?

Jul 9, 2013I have data which I have plotted in a stack bar graph. I have then got the data in a table below the graph and it is all good. I would like to put a total on my data table so the user can see the total value of the stack bar.
I can't see how to get a total into the data table using the chart functionality. I have got a total in my data series but including this in my chart data just corrupts my graph as it doubles the height of it by including the total along with the data that generated the total.

Column Chart Using Dynamic Data Table
Aug 4, 2014I'm using a table with dynamic data to populate a column/line chart.
The data is based on monthly targets achieved and forecasted. With each month, the information will update. The graph needs to have only the current month and future months to be displayed and I don't want to include the previous months information in the chart. The information in the chart automatically updates and loses the previous month's data. Unfortunately, the graph plots the blank data and has a blank entry on the graph. This means that the information I need starts in the middle of the chart and has a line that shoots up from 0 to the current month's value.
Is there any way that I can omit the month altogether?
The data source I am using is below:

Organizing Data Table In A Bar Chart Layout 5
Jan 31, 2014I have a bar chart that monitors month over month activity. I use Layout 5, which allows for the numbers data to neatly be organized in a table below the bar chart. However, i recently started using the data on a secondary axis to accurately reflect trend lines. It works great, but now the data table below displays redundant information. see attachment.

Jun 18, 2014vba in excel 2013 pivot table that updates from an online CRM rows are a to h and it can be any number of rows. What I am trying to do is track progress. In column f values indicate probability for success 10 25 45 90, which can go up or down. The pivot table is refreshed to get the latest values from CRM. the update is handled by a connection to the crm not in the vba.
So far I been researching methods to conditionally format values that went up, down or remained the same since the last refresh with up down and across arrows. I have managed to piece together what I think should work but alas it is not. So I have come to you internet.
My code first clears any formatting and goes down the column avoiding null or empty cells, comparing the values in column f to values in column j.
I have 3 conditions greater than, less than or equal to, and would like add an icon for each based on the result of the comparison.
Finally when it finishes the column the code copies the current values in the pivot table column f to column j outside the pivot table which i hope to be able to hide once the cf works. The code is below

Chart / Data Table Total Row Without Graphical Representation
Nov 8, 2011I'm trying to get a chart to show the Grand Total for the following rows without graphical representation. However, everytime the Grand Total is part of my dataset it appears as a stacked column. I do NOT want to see it as part of the chart.
Grand Total 10
A 3
B 2
C 5
As you can see the Grand Total line will be equal to adding up the one column of all rows in this chart. I can get the Grand Total line to appear in my data set, but everytime, it appears in my graph.

I would like to add the data from the "Rate" sheet into the Pivot Table chart (Chart.PT). I made an example by using normal way (Chart.Case (9)), the column series in the chart is the one I added from the "Rate" sheet. I wonder if I could do the same in pivot table chart.
Convert Data From Table Format Into One Long Row Of Data?
Jun 17, 2013I have a sheet with data 7 columns wide and up to 1500 rows long. Below are a few lines from the sheet. The data from the sheet is grouped into "months" as shown in the header down the first column, "Show June, 2013..." and "Show July, 2013...", and so on. Is there a way I can make Excel re-align the data into ONE long row of data for each month? Each new month row must be "triggered" by the text (like the word "Show") because the actual cell number of where the new month begins may change with new updates. I want to do this because I plan to refresh the data once at the end of each day from the web and apply the new data to the "next" row of data. So eventually, I can have a history of "Last" values I can chart for each "strike" for each month.

How To Copy And Paste Excel Chart And Data Table In PowerPoint
Jan 23, 2013I have a chart and a data table (please see attached file named "delete_1.xls).
I need to present these 2 items in a single slide of PowerPoint.
I have done like this.
-First copied the chart from Excel.
-Then pasted it in PowerPoint using "Paste special".
-Then clicked "picture (windows metafile)" this is to reduce memory consumption
Then repeated the above steps for the excel table too.
The PowerPoint slide that I got cannot be attached as system doesn't allow me.
Question: I wanted to a give a paper copy of the PowerPoint slide to my Director who needs a PowerPoint slide and not an Excel chart. But in the slide, the numbers of the table look much juggled and as if the numbers are too closely typed.
I tried with various different fonts in Excel and then copy and pasted in PowerPoint but the problem persists.
What things I should do in Excel table so that cell values are clear in the Table presented in PowerPoint ?

Name; Leave Start Date; Leave End Date; Date Paid; Days Taken; Roundup; Offset
The roundup column rounds the days taken up, for example if someone took 0.4 days off it would round it to 1.The offset column just subtracts the Roundup value by 1 (=Roundup-1) I think we will need this for what I am trying to do.

What I would like for the macro to do is lookup Employee 1 from my gaant chart table and search the leave history data if it finds a relevant start date for the employee it marks that date with a 1, it then looks in the offset column and marks the number of offsets to the right. For example if employee 2 took leave from 1/1/14 to 3/1/14 the macro would mark a 1 on the 1/1/14, and search the offset column which would have 2, it will then mark a 1 in the 2 cells to the right of 1/1/14 also (these being 2/1/14 and 3/1/14)

Dec 27, 2007I am building a tracking process for marketing and relationship management purposes. My company has a database (Advisor's Assistant - which the server is on site) that is for lack of a better term very limited. I have tried to identify if we have the capability to use SQL in excel to pull the information we want but that avenue looks bleak, since my co-worker that is pretty tech-savvy has had very little luck working with the database provider to get to information we want.
Anyway, I have determined that I can get the information I am interested in by way of several reports that the current database will do and printing them to a .pdf file. Then by way of a program called Able to Extracted I can get them into an excel format. The problem I am trying to solve is using excel to pull the information I want out of these twice converted reports into a format that means something in excel.
Only the reports reach excel they have many empty cells and some of the information is offset and does not follow the same pattern as you scroll down through the report. I have attached part of one of the reports. I would like to automate the process of searching the data and creating a new format that I can use a pivot table to create reports off.

Pivot Table With Dynamic, Updatable Chart, But Not A Pivot Chart!
Dec 19, 2008My boss wants me to design a dynamic, updatable chart in Excel 2003. I initially made a Pivot Chart based on a Pivot Table which worked perfectly, but it doesn't look professional enough when printed (or viewed) and she wants me to approach it a different way.
So, I created a graph based on the data in a Pivot Table, and used dynamic ranges as the source for the graph series so that the chart updates when the criteria fields are changed for the Pivot Table. I then added two combo boxes (ie data validation lists) to the Chart sheet, and wrote VBA code so that whenever the combo box values are changed, the Criteria fields for the Pivot Table on the 2nd sheet are updated accordingly, and this in turn causes the graph to be updated as well.
This solution also worked perfectly, but now I've been told to create the graph without macros.
Does anyone have any suggestions? The requirements/details are as follows:
1. The Pivot Table is on sheet "PIVOT", and the graph is on sheet "GRAPH"
2. The Pivot Table has two criteria - School Name and Year Level
3. On sheet "GRAPH" there are two data-validated fields, School and Year, which only allow the selection of valid Schools and Year Levels
Is there any way to make the Pivot Table update when values are changed in the fields on the CHART sheet so that the chart also updates, but without using code nor a Pivot Chart?
Excel 2003 :: Daily Stock Chart AND Random Scatter Chart Data
Jan 14, 2014I need to plot various data on top of stock charts.
This data could be irregular in date: it could be weekly, or simply random.
To plot this data by itself requires a Scatter Chart.
From what I know so far, you CANNOT DO THIS.
However, I suspect this could be done if I build a Stock Chart from scratch using a Scatter Chart.
Error bars can be used to make the tails, however, I don't know how they built the body bar which has the characteristics of a bar (border, and interior.)
But since I don't really need those two characteristics, I just need a wider error bar line that is provided in the chart edit window. I'm guess through a macro, there are wider line widths assignable.
Excel 2010 :: Add Pie Chart Into Data Point Marker On Line Chart
Nov 27, 2011I am looking for a creative way to display a pie chart within a data point marker of a line chart.
My database has 3 value columns, Type1, Type2 and the Total (Type1 + Type2)
these are recorded per day (Date, in Column A)
I have a line chart that displays the total by date, but I want to find a way to display the percentage split of a particular day by type.
I was thinking to load the chart image into the Data point marker, but i don't think that is the best way as the data is updated daily and I would have to do it each day for a few line charts.
The other way I was thinking about was to have a generic Pie chat in the Line chart (Maybe in a corner) and the pie would update depending on way date series was selected or Mouseover'd)
the way that I am approaching it at the movement (Not the best way and by far not the coolest way. Is to have a list of all the dates in a column next to the Line chart and using some VBA, what ever date is selected in the column the pie chart displays the corresponding data. But eh challenge is that when there is alot of dates, I am going to be scrolling up and down.
I am using Excel 2010, but I cant not use the slicer's as the other users do not have 2010, they have 2007.
