Does anyone know how to create a data table associated with a line chart? The Data Table option is available for a bar chart, but not line.
The goal is to have a table that displays the data just under the chart. There are multiple charts per page, so the association of the data table is ideal.
I am looking for a creative way to display a pie chart within a data point marker of a line chart.
My database has 3 value columns, Type1, Type2 and the Total (Type1 + Type2)
these are recorded per day (Date, in Column A)
I have a line chart that displays the total by date, but I want to find a way to display the percentage split of a particular day by type.
I was thinking to load the chart image into the Data point marker, but i don't think that is the best way as the data is updated daily and I would have to do it each day for a few line charts.
The other way I was thinking about was to have a generic Pie chat in the Line chart (Maybe in a corner) and the pie would update depending on way date series was selected or Mouseover'd)
the way that I am approaching it at the movement (Not the best way and by far not the coolest way. Is to have a list of all the dates in a column next to the Line chart and using some VBA, what ever date is selected in the column the pie chart displays the corresponding data. But eh challenge is that when there is alot of dates, I am going to be scrolling up and down.
I am using Excel 2010, but I cant not use the slicer's as the other users do not have 2010, they have 2007.
I am trying to graph the following data in an area chart with line charts superimposed on the area chart. I have a lot of data (and a lot going on) so I'm trying to figure out the best way to show this in excel from a functional standpoing (i can't get this to work in excel!!) to also an asthetic standpoint (dont want it to look terrible or illegible). This is what I'm trying to chart:
1) Weather data (temperature) by region:
So one region, would be: Northwest
I would like the "area" (so a shaded region) to be the min/max of the temperature data for each month.
2) I would like to show the temperature for each year as a line graph on the chart - so you can see if a year falls in or out of the shaded region.
3) I would like to show a company's sales increases across the same months per year as separate line charts. I may choose to just show the biggest outlier year in the end... or to show 2006 (the latest data).
What I am trying to convery with the chart is that the company's sales is or is not tied to weather deviations. I have attached an excel file with the data. I haven't been able to use the area chart or get a two axis chart to work or get it to look even remotely professional.
I know how to create a chart that is linked to another worksheet without a problem.
What I'm looking to accomplish is to create a line chart that automatically updates when new data is entered. So if I were to enter data for October 2012 it would automatically update the chart without me having to manually select the data. I tried the OFFSET tutorials and to be totally honest I get lost so maybe can give me a step by step? Also, I only want to have 15 months of data to show on the line chart at one time. So it should show June-11 to Sept-12 to begin with and once data is entered for October (R) it should update the the line chart to show only July-11 to Oct-12.
I messed with it for about 5 hours last night and got nowhere. About 2 hours today and even watched YouTube tutorials. I can almost get the OFFSET but it's a vertical OFFSET. I tried the horizontal tutorial but it still selects vertically.
I am trying to produce a line chart, which will use imported data on a separate sheet (but within the same workbook)
The imported data can be of different sizes ie column widths and length. Some columns may contain only zero and should not be included in the chart, and will be to right of the data.
I have created a named range for the data series called ChartData using =OFFSET(Data!$C$1,0,0,info!$C$7,info!$A$2) - C7 and A2 are calculations to set column and row sizes. I have tried to use this as the chart's data series, but without success.
I have a spreadsheet that I have setup to have raw data pasted into. Long story short, it pulls the maximum reading for a given 5 minute period and returns the highest value for each 5 minute increment where there was a reading. It does this for all of the different dates entered, returning a separate data table for each date.
What I now need is to graph the data on a line chart. Since the number of time values can be variable, I have to include the entire range (for example A3:B5002). When I graph this out, it has all of the data clumped up at the beginning and flatlines for 99% of the chart.
I tried building dynamic named ranges using offset, but that seems to yield similar results once charted.

The data I need to chart is from columns A&B on the GraphData sheet. Sheet 1 contains the chart I have been trying to use. The endgame of this is to have the end user paste in their data and *POOF* charts.
My only restriction is that I cannot have Macros/VBA.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIm plotting data on a Line-Column 2 Axes Chart which works really well with 4 data series (2 column, 2 Line) but when adding a fifth data series, the fourth disappears from view. I can see its still there cos I can display the values but I cant get the line to appear. The values for the 5th series are also similar to other series values so its not like the chart cant display it....are there limits to the number of series on such a chart?

I have a numerical X-axis with values such as 0,1,5,8,14, etc. I have another set of Y values that correspond to the X values. If this was an XY-scatter plot I'd be able to plot X vs. Y and connect the dots for "gaps" in the X values. Since it's a pivot chart I cannot use an XY-scatter plot, I can only use a line chart. The line chart doesn't give me the ability to add the "missing" values, so it gives the impression that my data is more closely packed than it is. The data source is external to my spreadsheet, so I cannot add the values before creating the pivot table/chart.

The line chart is a projected amount that I will reach in few years; the x axis is the date while the y axis is an amount. I can get a chart that has a line and stacked columns, but ever time, the dates get messed up. The line has an extremely wide date range while the columns only have about a month of data.

Basically this is for better visual appearance. When I add a 0 to the table, it skews the alignment of the line chart with the corresponding bar chart.
Attached is the sample data worksheet. Chart 1 is XY type chart using Seconds (2nd column of sample sheet as x-axis from 42510 to 42530). I got the info to post into cells in the table through mail merge. (sample below) Now I want to make a matching line chart to visually show the student's growth over time. I want the data on the chart to change according to the data I put in the cells in the table through mail merge. Is this possible?The data in the cell that says "Cory" and the "88, 100, 112" are placed in this table through mail merge. I want to now be able to take just Cory's information and display it as a line graph. If I highlight those cells and choose "insert a table" it doesn't work.

With the attached spreadsheet i cannot workout how with the line graph not to continue the line if there is nothing in row 10 of the table.
for eaxmple if there is no value in cell M10, i would like the actual addtion line to stop at the last value on the graph that was in L10.
I can create a column chart in excel comparing sales in 06 v's 07 for each month in 07, what I'm aiming to show on the chart is how sales have grown or not over a comparative period. A simple enough graph, I end up with about 24 columns (2 for each month and then a gap between each month).
I now want a line chart to show the performance of an index over the same time period, lets say the FTSE100.
I don't know how to get the line chart under the columns on the same graph, using the same x-axis with a small y-axis to the left. I could propably figure out the y-axis bit if I could only get the line chart below the columns.
I have data which I have plotted in a stack bar graph. I have then got the data in a table below the graph and it is all good. I would like to put a total on my data table so the user can see the total value of the stack bar.
I can't see how to get a total into the data table using the chart functionality. I have got a total in my data series but including this in my chart data just corrupts my graph as it doubles the height of it by including the total along with the data that generated the total.
Trying to create a chart from a table of data, however my column of data has zeros throughout. How do I insert a chart with just the data that are not zeros?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using a table with dynamic data to populate a column/line chart.
The data is based on monthly targets achieved and forecasted. With each month, the information will update. The graph needs to have only the current month and future months to be displayed and I don't want to include the previous months information in the chart. The information in the chart automatically updates and loses the previous month's data. Unfortunately, the graph plots the blank data and has a blank entry on the graph. This means that the information I need starts in the middle of the chart and has a line that shoots up from 0 to the current month's value.
Is there any way that I can omit the month altogether?
The data source I am using is below:

I have a bar chart that monitors month over month activity. I use Layout 5, which allows for the numbers data to neatly be organized in a table below the bar chart. However, i recently started using the data on a secondary axis to accurately reflect trend lines. It works great, but now the data table below displays redundant information. see attachment.

I have created some pivotcharts in Excel 2007, but I have a serious problem with them The labels (usernames actually) in the data table are impossible to read (pls see attachment) If I make the letters smaller it is unreadable, if I make them larger it is still the same. how I can make the data table "resized"?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get a chart to show the Grand Total for the following rows without graphical representation. However, everytime the Grand Total is part of my dataset it appears as a stacked column. I do NOT want to see it as part of the chart.
Grand Total 10
A 3
B 2
C 5
As you can see the Grand Total line will be equal to adding up the one column of all rows in this chart. I can get the Grand Total line to appear in my data set, but everytime, it appears in my graph.
Can Pivot Table chart add another data from another sheet? I attached the link for this file (Add data1), it is because the file consists of several sheets and I do not know how to show here.
I would like to add the data from the "Rate" sheet into the Pivot Table chart (Chart.PT). I made an example by using normal way (Chart.Case (9)), the column series in the chart is the one I added from the "Rate" sheet. I wonder if I could do the same in pivot table chart.
