Please see attached file. In my column L, I'm trying to find a formula that would reference my column J to the table in the data tab. My problem is the data in column J has a hyphen (-) in the number ex.. 047-258-1 and the next tab does not have a hyphen in between the number...ex 0472581. The correct results in cell L3 would be Walmart. How can I adjust my formula to accommodate this hyphen. Can this also be reflected in my pivot table as well?
I have a spreadsheet in excel 2003 that has alot of model numbers listed in a single column with a dash. Is their any way I can remove the dash and seperate the numbers into 2 columns?
Current Spreadsheet Model Number 199-001 200-003 210-081
This is what I'm trying to accomplish Column B Column C 199 001 200 003 210 081
Is it possible to Conditionally Format using the (Custom) Data Validation Tool one or both of the following conditions:-
1. Force the user to enter the correct decimal point position for a given currency :-
The are 3 different decimal point locations location's - 0.87624 / 123.123 / 1273.00 There are always 6 numerals We have a table to lookup which specifies where the decimal point is on all currencies
CURRENCY AUDUSD< List is linked to a table Price - High 0.87744< Decimal point dependant on chosen currency pair chosen Price - Low 0.86596 Price - Close 0.86823
2. As above but numbers once entered will be formatted accordingly to the correct decimal place to the corresponding currency
I want to add a hyphen to 2 particular cells if they are blank. The form is populated from another software package with dimensions. If Columns D and E have any blank cells, want to insert a hyphen. Can't use VB because the particular software package will only output to a template with .xlt
If can't do with Conditional Format, then okay I can tell the inspectors to use add by hand
if I want 2 conditions satisfied in order for a value to be returned, would I need to set up/name tables, set ranges, etc? e.g,
If A1 contains baby, AND B1 contains Carly, then C1=carly.jpg If A1 contains girl, AND B1 contains Carly, then C1=carlyg.jpg If A1 contains baby, AND B1 contains Billy, then C1=billy.jpg If A1 contains summer, AND B1 contains Wally, then C1=winter.jpg etc.
Roughly 40 different conditions will be needed. What formula would I use and how should I name and set up my table?
I am looking for a formula that either accepts the number in a cell if the numbers on two other cells are "approved". In other words, I have on cell A1 my value to be tested. On cells A2 and A3 I have two numbers. On cell A4 I'm looking for a formula that copies the number on A1 if A2 is bigger then 0.25 and A3 is smaller then 0.35. In not, there's no copy or a N/A appears.
I want the date input to be restricted a start date and an End date specified in two cells on the sheet. However, when I set up the Data Validation, ANY date will be accepted.
As an example cell Z1 contains the date 1/3/2014 and Cell Z2 contains the date 31/3/2014, so in the Data Validation box, the Start Date is referenced to Z1 and the End Date is referenced to cell Z2.
But I can enter 1/9/2020 and the Data Validation happily accepts that date.
I have a pivot table as shown below which is pretty straight forward however I am trying to create a macro that will automatically change the point name to match the point name in column E then copy that resulting dispaly to another sheet then pick the next point name in line and do the same thing and repeat for 50 rows, so my end result will be 50 pivot tables ready for printing. I can do this manually but I am trying to make it automatic...BTW the point names in column E change everyday but the pivot table supports the name changes.
Option Explicit Sub PointName() Dim Ws As Worksheet Dim Rng As Range, Cel As Range
Set Ws = ActiveSheet Set Rng = Range(Cells(2, 7), Cells(Rows.Count, 7).End(xlUp))
For Each Cel In Rng Ws.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("Point Name").CurrentPage = Cel & " "
Ws.Columns("A:B").Copy Sheets.Add With ActiveSheet .Paste .Name = Trim(Cel) .Range("A1").Select End With Next Ws.Activate End Sub
I turned it off for a while and when I turned it back on I am getting an error Unable to set the _Default property of the PivotItem class
Debugger is highlighting
Ws.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("Point Name").CurrentPage = Cel & " "
I have some data in the form of text w/ 8 letters. I'd like to insert a hyphen after the third character. Is this possible using a formula to populate an entire field? Example:
What is the formula to cover multiple different text that could come up? I could have an answer that is NA, Yes and also a blank cell and if I could I would like to have it set up as follows:
I am in need of a formula. I have a number like: 23847-2
I want a formula to take this number and add one to the number before the hyphen. I also want the single digit number after the hyphen to be able to be changed.
So in the end: i want the number copied to the next cell, add one to the portion before the hyphen. Then allow the number after the hyphen to be changed manually.
I am setting up a new chart of accounts, with the format xxx-yyyy, where xxx is a three digit department number, and yyyy is the expense account. I am building a spreadsheet to populate the new chart of accounts to be uploaded into our accounting software. I would like to have a cell that takes the xxx from one cell, adds a hyphen, and combines it with the yyyy value. The result would be xxx-yyyy format.
Need the syntax for labeling a cell. I want to temporarily label two cells in the same column. Then I'm hoping to use those labels as the start and end points for a range using the script...
I've created a button that, when clicked, will give a time and date stamp. The issue I'm having is that when I click the button, it displays the information in the active cell. I've searched for an answer, but keep coming up blank. Here is my macro:
if it was possible to limit data input to DDE (I am using winwedge to capture numeric data). Dave Hawley replied that all I had to do was lock the cells and protect the workbook. I have now done this but the data is not accepted unless the cells are not protected, anyone any ideas on what I am missing?
My basic problem is I compile a newsletter for my company. Many people write me E-mails and i paste their "daily accomplishments" into a template. My question is if there is an easy way to insert bullets at the beginning of each line inside the cell. My company wants it prepared with a certain type. I am attaching a sample.
Some code below which I have inherited, basically its looping through one column of data and removing the text at the beginning before the hyphen eg. '123 - data text' to 'data text'.
HTML Code: 'Remove everything before the hyphen in the activity column Dim SearchStr Dim CharOffset As Variant Range("c7").Select
I need a VBA function to extract number sequences from a string and separate them with hyphens In the example below cell A1 has the value 'xx2 yyy34 zz515' The code must produce the value '2-34-515' from the above example I have the following function that extracts the numbers but need a way to separate the groups with a hyphen
Code: Function parseNum(strSearch As String) As String Dim i As Integer, tempVal As String For i = 1 To Len(strSearch)
I have a cell tha't set up as a number format with the validation only accepting 3 whole number characters, however if the number is 098 then it converts it to 98. I need for that cell to be a number type format and to accept 0 as the first character. I thought I tried everything but I'm sure I'm missing something.
I have to validate a cell to only accept the letter a, d ,f ,g h,. I know this is probaly very simple but i havent touched excel since last november and have completely forgotton the most simple of things!
