I have around 30k data. which is in invalid format.
Ex: 12987654321vinay kk 876543219
32567456789 kkccjhg fo 345678921
I want to convert this into correct format as below with start letter from MOD, 987654321,, vinay, kk,87654219
MOD,567456789, , kkccjhg, fo,345678921
I want to know which are formulas I have to use to get this info in correct format.

i have a customer (im a computer tech, but excel is not my specialty) that has a weird problem with her most important file. She meant well, but tried to back up a 2.6 MB file to a floppy disk, and after it told her the disk was full, she was unable to open the file again in excel. (File Format Is Not Valid) It will, however, open in word, with the data there. Its in an unusable format, as there were 12 different worksheets (one for every month), all on the one page of MS Word. Better than nothing, but still will take weeks to reenter properly. I searched for a repair utility and had one that seemed to work, but only put a "0" in column A row 8. A far cry from what we are looking for. Ive also run a disk recovery program in the hopes of finding an older version of the file, but came up empty.

Please refer to attached spreadsheet
I receive data from an external source and it displays what appears to be dates in column B.
In column G I apply a formula to display month/year info.
It turns out that some of the data in column B is valid date data, but other data imports as plain text and therefore I can't get the month/year info that I require.
I have attached just a small example.
I get this data monthly and it usually covers thousands of rows and therefore impractical to change manually.

I would like to try and achive a conditional format that will require a lookup function. when the condition is met it places Yes or No into a cell and changes that row colour to red for the NO condition. and after 10 days from now the rowcolour is removed.

I have two columns with values, and want to display "Valid" or "Invalid" in a third column, dependant on the two preceeding values.
If both column 1 and column 2 contain #N/A, then I want the third column to display "Invalid".
If the above is not true, then I want the third column to display "Valid".
I've been trying different syntax with IF/AND but cannot achieve the result.

I saved my worksheet in vba .xlsx and for some reason, when I go to the folder that it's saved in and try to open the file I get an error message saying "excel cannot open the file 'PO Acks fo 09-20-2013.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file"
This is weird because I have another file that I save right before this that opens just fine without an error. Getting frustrating. When I go into the ~Users folder it shows as an excel file and saved as .xlsx.
Where would the link be missing?

I'm looking to put a formula in the last column (Card Valid/Invalid (N3:N8)).
I want this formula to say IF Project Name OR Start date OR Due Date or Type OR Author OR VS are empty then I want the last column to say Invalid else if all of these columns are filled in then give valid. Also if a completed date or no. of review loops are filled in but not both then give Invalid but if both are filled in then as well as all the rest of the info give Valid.
Project Name - Valid/Invalid is B2-N2

Any way to check if data entered is a valid date using a VBA function/routine?
For example, cdate() and isdate() functions accept dates like 31-Feb-12 and 29-Feb-11 when they are not valid.
If the cell is formatted as date format, then Excel replaces hyphens with forward slashes for dates, except invalid ones like 31-Feb-12 and 29-Feb-11, so in these cases I can test for existence of forward slashes in the following way
Len(Mid(pCell, InStr(pCell, "/") + 1, Len(pCell) - InStr(pCell, "/"))) 7
However this approach fails for Input boxes. Obviously I can't convert the Input box response using cdate function as it will incorrectly accept 31-Feb-12 as a valid date.
Any routines that will work for both cell entered and Input box entered dates?

Excel macro to retrieve some valid data from one sheet to another which has some values.
Description;- I have made an excel sheet for daily stock details which contains data like stock in, out, daily production for various products. I have made a menu which contains button of stock in, out and production, and one sheet for current stock where I enter In and out. I wand a macro when I click the button from the main menu it gives me all the production details taking from one sheet and past it in different sheet in the same workbook but it should not give the details of those products which does not have and production.

I have some cost data for 5 different technologies that I would like to plot in a graph. the technologies belong to 3 unique categories and I want to group them on the chart so that there is no gap between technologies in a same category.
I have a graph where they are grouped by title of the category but how I may remove the gaps between the individual bars in the same category?

I have a given set of data. Each row of data fits into one of 7 different categories. Besides doing a simple filter to be able to pull out a certain "category", how can I do this differently? Is there a code/macro process I need to go through? Basically what I need to do is find a way to group these categories together, so that someone searching for a certain category can easily pull it from the data.

from the Forum on building a macro and was kindly told that a Pivot Table would do the job better, which it does. However, my table has a column of several dates, I was wondering the best way to group the dates into months rather than showing the full date, eg, September instead of 16/09/08 or August instead of 01/08/08.

I'm looking for a quick way of counting the proportion of records in certain number ranges e.g.
Number of records in range 1 to 50, 51-100, 101-500 etc.
i have a pivot table but I'm just not sure how to create these groupings. Is a pivot the right way to do it - or should I be doing something else with the source data.

I'm trying to sort a selection of data into groups (2 cols, 1st is P-No, 2nd is Qty) based on the first four digits of the P-No and then tally the groups Qty (so I have the total Qty for any given product group) but short of sorting the data by P-No then manually separating it into groups where the first four digits are the same and then applying a SUM calc to the separated groups Qty column I can't think of a function/sum that would speed this process up!
Any way to speed this process up/automate it?

The Data Worksheet in the file attached lists information on various software packages a company sells. Each product has an associated category listed in column B. Write a sub that creates a worksheet for each category represented in the list, with the name of the worksheet being the category, such as Business. For each category worksheet, it should enter the product names and their prices in columns A and B, starting in row 4. Each category worksheet should have an appropriate label, such as “Products in the Business category”, in cell A1; it should have labels “Product” and “Price” in cells A3 and B3; and the column width for its column A should be the same as the column width of Column A in the Data worksheet. ( Note that there are only three categories represented in the current data. However, the program should be written so that it Works for any number of categories – and any number of products- that might be present.)

I have a set of data that looks like this:

Column A is a 'User Number' and columns B-D contain values.
I was hoping to use this data to create a new range where each 'User Number' only has one row, and the values in the other columns are summed for each user.
This would ideally look like this:

I am looking to use the formula's to determine if the contents of a cell, match or meet a given formula.
In this case, 3 alpha + 3 numeric, e.g. ABC123.
I would want it to return a TRUE or FALSE.
I've done it the long way by tearing apart into the 1st through 6th characters, but would enjoy a more succinct method.

what i want to do is to group the record with the same postcode together and just return one record for each postcode in excel.
so the output will have the postcode, the sum of written premium, written units.
I understand i can use Access to do it, but I want just to use excel for this task.

I have VBA code the extracts data from a source and puts it into excel. I need to change the format of some of the extracted data so i can use it for a VLookup formula. Reference the attached example. Columns A AND B have the extraced data which are dates. In Columns C and D or E and F I have typed what I would like the data to look like so I can use in a Vloolup formula. Is there VBA or a formula that word change the format of the dates in Columns A and B to look like C and D or E and F. The changed format could be moved to any new cells or rows.

I have a RAW DATA work sheet that has data of electricity consumption for a given week but it is in a vrtical table.
I have many other work work sheets in the workbook that I require to look at the RAW data and the return the correct information in the specified cells
I need the store number that is in cell F1 of each sheet and the Date on each sheet that are on Row4 of each sheet to Look up and match the information in ROW1 for the store number and columnA for the dates.
then in columnB of RAW DATA I have time intervals of 30mins which need to match up with the time intervals on the sheets and display the readings from the RAW data on the sheets.

I need a VBA macro code to get the output like in the excel file which I have attached with this thread. Which means, I need to group the data for every two hours. in the output I need all 4 cols namely A, B, C, D along with extra col namely, interval based on which I need these groupings to be done..
The code has to be really flexible so that it works for all dates and times in the files. Because like this I have to do for 2000 files.....

The attached file shows what I'm trying to do - I'd like to fill in the data in the top left corner table (blue-shaded) with the data combined from the two other tables. Think of the Greek letters as names that are grouped into the groups named {A,B,C,D,E} (the names have no significance, it's just an example).
I was able to do so using an array formula and an extra column (yellow shaded) as you can see in B2 - however, this solution doesn't suite my case because the actual tables will be coming from automated processes and cannot be easily manually altered.
I tried inserting the array formula into the sumproduct formula - see B3 - but for some reason this doesn't behave the same as when the array is outside the formula. I should also mention that I came across a user defined function solution - this too is not so suitable for me right now.
