I am using office excel 2007 with all the latest updates installed on a windows vista machine. 3 months ago i made an xlsx file containing contact information. Few days ago, it was consist of 4 sheets. 1st sheet had about 18000 rows and 1 column while the other 3 sheets have about 100 rows and 1 column each. The last 2 days i get an error when i try to open the file i get the error Excel found unreadable content in "name.xlsx" Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook? If you truth the source of this workbook, click Yes. If i click on Yes i get another error this file cannot be open by using microsoft excel and ask me to search online. If i click no, 4 times, as many as the sheets i get the file open. with the following message
Excel completed file level validation and repair. Some parts of this workbook may have been repaired or discarded. Replaced Part: /xl/worksheets/sheet1.xml part with XML error. The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag. Line 2, column 1249206.
and the 1st sheet with the most records is empty while the other 3 sheets are ok. I tried the built in repait method no go. I unistalled and reinstall office without installing the updates, nothing. I also tried some recover programes where only the recovery toolbox for excel worked but i am searching for a solution that i will not have to pay more money beside the office product to recover the damaged office excel.
I have an excel 2007 file which contain a lot of macros. File size is 100MB. This file is not developed by myself, it's post in the webpage and let the members of the page to download on daily basis.. I've been downloading and using this file for over a year with no problem until this week.
Problem: During opening the file. There is a message box popped up, saying "Excel found unreadable content in filename.xlsm'. do you want to recover the contents of this workbook ? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes." When I click "yes", excel is trying to repair the file. Once it's done, I could see only the contents, however, all the macros are gone. When I copied this very same file and open in other notebooks, everything is working fine...
Assumption: Couple days ago, I was writing/testing macros in other workbooks and also opened this particular file. I might did something stupid which cause this problem...
During the same time, I used to have the same problem with another file. I solved it by copy and open with another PC then copy macros and paste it to the file on my notebook.
I am using VBA to create a word document (.docx). This word document contains plain text content controls as well as picture content controls. I then use VBA to automatically select a picture based on the code below
Code: Set oCC = Word.ActiveDocument.SelectContentControlsByTitle("TabPic").Item(1) On Error GoTo TabErrorHandler oCC.Range.InlineShapes.AddPicture Filename:="X:XFERANDREW-TDCD " & LblVL &
[Code].....
After the document has been closed down I try to open it again and I am told "The file cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents."
When I click details it says "Unspecified error" and "Location: Part: /word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 0"
If I click ok it says "Word found unreadable content in "". Do you want to recover the contents of this document? If you turst the source of this document, click Yes.
Clicking Yes opens the document with all the contents and it is now renamed to Document 1. If I click no it does not open.
I need a macro or formula that can parse a column of data and if it finds a specific string of text ,then it changes another cell on that row to zero. It can have multiple text variables but all return the same value. For Example,
if artisan - matte - flat black artisan - matte brushed gold small - canvas - flat black
is found in a longer string of text
then it should change another cell on the same row to have a value of 0. Also i should mention that i need it to loop as it will be parsing through potentially thousands of rows.
I'm creating a spreadsheet for anaesthesia monitoring. I have a table that calculates the time every 5 minutes (i.e. start time + 5 mins) for 3.5 hours and columns for heart rate, respiratory rate and drugs which is then plotted on a scatter graph. I've forced the major x-axis major unit to be 5 minutes.
Everything works fine for the first few values (1.JPG) then after 24 values it decides it wants to go crazy with the x-axis and display 24 hours (2.jpg) making everything unreadable. I would set the minimum manually but it obviously that will change depending on when the case starts. I can upload the file but it has some macros for other sections.
I use this to read cell content, add some text/characters (ie. [ and ]) and change the properties of the complete cell
Sub COMMENT() Worksheets("DVD Lijssie").Activate If ActiveCell.Value 0 Then ' Change all in to ... ... ... ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = ActiveCell.Value & " " & "]" & " " & "[" With ActiveCell.Font .Name = "Arial Narrow" .Size = 8 .ColorIndex = 16 End With End If End Sub HOW can I change this vba-code so it leave's the content of the cell like it is and add some content with the use of let's say TexBox1 and ONLY use different font properties for the newely added content?
Formula/macro/etc that would enable me to have content of a cell changed based on the content of another cell in the same row.
Example: cell in column D says "PSA" - so I would need the cell in column H for that same row to read "Radio"
I would need an entire sheet scanned to review for these occurrences and make the appropriate changes. I also would need the formula to be inclusive enough to scan for variations in column D cell content (PSA 1, PSA 2, etc).
For a table like the one below produced for the sake of example (actual is much much bigger) I want to make it list rows that are true for a certain column for a certain variable in the matrix. So for say water terrain, which types of activity can I do i.e. swimming. Or for Offroad the activites which I can't do i.e. Run and Swim.
ActivityWaterRoadOffroad Jog nym Run nyn Walk nyy Swim ynn y=yes n=no m=maybe
I can use vlookup to find the info I want, problem is the I need to grab a value from the column before it. I was hoping that i could use Index/Match combo, but the data is not sorted. I was also hoping that somehow, in conjunction with vlookup, I could the CELL() function to at very least tell me which row it found its data in, but I guess CELL() doesn't work that way.
Bottom line: Is there someway to find out what row a value is found on. I already know which column I need and I figure if I can determine the row, I can use INDIRECT() to create the reference. My boss said VBA solutions are not permissable in this case otherwise I could have solved this issue.
Attached is this massive excel spread sheet. It has been pruned so that it can be attached to this posting. It has 27 tabs, users input orders into home unit page (ie Tercero), other sheets interface to form sheets used for deliveries (See Terc Del), production (see Friday), and summary overview (see Campus).
I would like to, using VBA, create a pop-up window that pulls up a print command box that will allow the user to print by day, or by week, print one worksheet or print all. I currently use macro buttons but print the entire page on a given tab. When asked to print a page, It would be great to be able to print column (Fri for ie.) a day say, and print only a item in a column/row that has a numeric value inputted into a cell, all the way down the page. So in this case, see the Terc DEL, print only Friday and only those fields with a number inputted into a cell.
Another option for the DEL sheets could be to print only rows with Data found in columns B,D,F,H,J,L,N tells the macro to print that entire row, to which includes A->O, if that makes sense? By doing this, my hope is to have the document print in a larger font, and column width, as there would be less info per page to deal with, and reduce the amount of paper waste. The headers of the page which is 1->5 would have to be repeated as the document printed. The first actual data field would be row 5.
The source document has a total of 200 rows (see Tercero). Other tabs will have comparable row settings, such Terc-Del, Friday, Campus.
After entering the vba code, testing it and successfully running it, I simply 'saved as" in the excel menu, changing the name.
Now I can't run the macro any more, because the macro is looking for the file with the old original name. I can't even find any references to the old name anywhere whatsoever, within the code itselt, etc. Why does the macro code even know/remember that old name?
I've kind of found similar questions, but I do not understand the answers that people have offered. It seems someone will suggest a chunk of code to add that will say at some point "c:\temp..." etc, but this doesn't make sense to me sense I intend of storing my excel file in a number of places and it won't always have the same reference location.
For now I'd like to ask if there is some general code I can enter or some good code to use as a reference.
I want to select only the cells that have colorinterior = 4 (Green)
Dim Cell As Range For Each Cell In [G:G] If Cell.Interior.ColorIndex = 4 Then b = Cell.Address Next Cell
but this code only selects the last cell with green format, my idea is to select the first and the last cell on column G, making b the last cell and a the first cell, to delete afterwards what is between, is there a way on the above code to select only the first cell and not the last one, making the a = first cell and b = last cell?
I have a sheet call Paste and one called look up -
On the lookup tab there is a list of accounts (the numbers of which varies perday) in column B - Using VBA I wish to do a vlookup on tab Paste looking in Column B and returning Column Cs value -
I have tried a few Codes that I have found online but in all cases whenever an account is not found the cose just stops rather than moving to next account
I was trying to use =IF(ISNA(entire_formula_above),"No Match",entire_formula_above) but can't get it to work or struggling with closing off brackets with number of arguments.
Another user in the newsgroup suggested this sample code but I've been unsuccessful in figuring out how to use correctly.
When an .xls file is double clicked, Excel opens with the following error message:
'F:Program.xls’ could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct. If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files on the File menu, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted.
When the dialog box is clicked, another error message is displayed with the same words, but with the file name 'microsoft.xls'.
I have tried un-registering and re-registering Excel, and uninstalling and re-installing all of Office 2003.
KB 177248 refers to this problem and suggests: ....
Look for value found on worksheet A in Worksheet B. If it finds the value in Worksheet B, I need it to look to the right of the value in Worksheet B and see if it matches the value to the right of the original value Worksheet A. If it does, I need a value returned of Paid in Full, if not I am need it to say "Exception." I cannot do a straight lookup of the values to the right because they are not unique.
How Can I Get First Cell Content ? here is my sheet
.... A 1 Color 2 Red 3 Blue 4 Yellow
note : Color has filter
I want to make the cell B1 = first cell of column A - I try type in B1 =A2 ، but when i make filter (example i select blue) the cell B2 show nothing (i want B1 to show the filtered data on first column )
When I type in a cell it will repeat what I have typed multiple times within the same cell. For example, if I type x, as soon as I move out of the cell it will become xxxxxxxxx. I have checked all of the formatting of a cell that works fine against these ones and they are identical, there aren't any formulas.
I've got two columns with data in only some of the cells in them. I need the cells with data in them to be put after each other at the top of a new column. Is there a formula for this?
I have a worksheet of about 500 columns (or more)... I need to collect from a certain row, only a few dozens that are non zero. How can I create a formula that will take only the non-zero values from the columns, and list them in a new array or row?
The primitive solution I use now is copying the entire line to a different sheet (pasted with transpose) and the sorting A-Z... It's annoying because I need to afterwards delete hundreds of zero lines that seperate the positive from the negative, and it makes me lose track of the order in which these numbers appeared...
I have two spreadsheets that use a Number as a Key. I need to compare the numbers on list 1 to the numbers on list 2 and add any values that exist on list 1 but not on list 2 to the end of list 2. List 1 is in Column B, List 2 in in column C of a different sheet in the same workbook.
I'm using VLOOKUP to search for results in another worksheet. What I need is 0 returned if the search fails. Currently I'm getting #N/A and that's causing my other formulas to fail.
I have no clue whats going on with this data. Most of the values transfer from the 'Log' to the "Table' with no problem but for some reason, that escapes me at this time, all do not.
The error that pops up has no information other than "File not found" in a dialog box with two buttons.
File not found (Error 53)
The file was not found where specified. This error has the following causes and solutions:
A statement, for example, Kill, Name, or Open, refers to a file that doesn't exist. Check the spelling of the file name and the path specification.
An attempt has been made to call a procedure in a dynamic-link library (DLL) or Macintosh code resource, but the library or resource file name specified in the Lib clause of the Declare statement can't be found.
Check the spelling of the file name and the path specification.
In the development environment, this error occurs if you attempt to open a project or load a text file that doesn't exist. Check the spelling of the project name or file name and the path specification.
For additional information, select the item in question and press F1 (in Windows) or HELP (on the Macintosh).
