the above information have following header ie. Location, P.O.Box, Address, Tel, Fax and Category.
every time one of the header inforamtion is missing ie. Address or P.O.Box, Or Fax, due to this problem every time cell address of information aganist header is change. supose in first copy/paste Tel inforamtion is in A15, but second time it may be on A13, and 3rd time it may be on A17 and so on.
I want to make a macro which search header ("Location", "P.O.Box", "Address", "Tel", "Fax", "Category" ) from a Range A1:A30. than down two steps to copy header information (75325412) and paste in fixed cell location C1:C5 (C1=Name, C2=Location, C3: P.O.Box, C4=Address, C5=Tel, C6=Fax, C7=Category) in same sheet. and repeat the steps to copy information aganist header from all header in Range A1:A30.
Assume the following list of addresses are all in separate cells of a single column (A1-A4). I just need the formula to extract the street addresses, and then a separate formula to extract the zip codes.
5430-44 PASCHALL AVENUE PHILADELPHIA, PA 19143 OPA/BRT#: 884350845
4010 MARPLE STREET PHILADELPHIA, PA 19136 OPA/BRT#: 651087200
2618 SOUTH HOWARD STREET PHILADELPHIA, PA 19148 OPA/BRT#: 391251216
5737 WOODCREST AVENUE PHILADELPHIA, PA 19131 OPA/BRT#: 522155600
I'm trying to copy a list of addresses from a website and paste that into Excel. I'm having problems because Excel doesn't separate each address. The original website address list has clear separation of addresses (returns, tabs, etc). For example:
John Doe 111 Fox Street Van Nuys, CA 91403 (See there's no separation between addresses) Michael Smith 2759 Apple Street Encino, CA 93727
This is the website where the address list comes from: [URL]....
I am trying cut and paste a list into Excel, and have Excel separate the different fields for me. There are 12 lines per each entry on the list. I use Firefox as my browser, and when I cut and paste using Firefox into Excel, this is how it looks:
James H. Patel, MD (space) Pediatrician (space)[code]....
I'm hoping for the final product to look like this:
Last Name----First Name----whether MD or DO----Street Address----City, State, Zip code----Zipcode(by itself)
I have an excel worksheet with contact info in columns rather than rows. For example, C1R1 is company name, C1R2 is address, C1R3 is City/St/ Zip, C1R5 is phone. I recorded a macro to cut and paste address to C2R2, C/S/Zip to C3R1 and phone to C4R1. That works but I cannot repeat it as I move down the list. Just re-runs macros over same cells all the time. How do I get it to start and run wherever I want it too? Also, how would I get it to delete the now vacant rows?
I have a list of asset data (columns A:Z and over 20,000 rows).
I want a macro to find the word TAG in column F then cut off the entire row for all that meet the criteria and paste in another sheet. So I can see both sheets.
I was planning to do was have a macro where the document opened and the cell that information was pasted in was decided depending on which cell was selected when the macro was run.
This worked fine, but it does mean that it needs someone who can edit the VBscript every time there is a new starter or someone leaves so isn't really viable.
What I was wondering, is if it is possible for me to start a macro, which then drags in the information I need from a text file, does all the calculations and rearranging, and then brings up a prompt for the user to open the document they want to paste it in, click on the cell where the pasting will start, and then the macro continues from there?
To try to explain it in as clear a way as I can. Say we have three managers, Alan, Brenda and Charlie. In Alan's team there are 10 staff members. Aaron, Bill etc.etc. If we have just run the report for Aaron, the macro will run, automatically drag all the information in and rearrange it, then it will pause while the user opens up the "Alan" spreadsheet, they select the "Aaron" first cell, click OK or something, and then the macro continues on its happy way?
i have about 80 files that all have the same structure. I also have a general excel file that I need to fill with values from each of the 80 files. I'd like to use a macro that can be applied to each of the 80 files at a time (or at the same time, if that's possible) so I can copy the cells (only the text, not the formula) I need from each individual file to the general sheet.
e.g., each file is:
xyz 123 abc 456 ghi 956
I need to copy the "123" to a cell in the general sheet, "456" to a different cell in the general sheet and so on (to be able to choose which cell in the general sheet I am copying to).
I want to create a web address for the attached file and then post the link on my football forum so that members can view the file in their browsers. Is it possible to do this?
I've been trying to use combo boxes to open, then copy and paste information from specific worksheets the user requests. So far, my approach has been unsuccessful --and the suggestion to simply use the GetOpenFiles procedure was helpful but failed to address more than the "open files" part of my application. Can variables be part of an excel file address as I've tried to use them in the "strFile =" statement immediately below?
Public strFile As String Public strSheet As String Public strSheetName As String
Column A = Date Column B = Value 1 Column C = Value 2
I have a folder with excel files named by date (e.g. 081212 = 8th December 12). Within each of those files is Value 1 and Value 2. They are always in the same cell (B6= Value 1, B16= Value 2).
How can i create a macro/script where the Values in Column B and Column C in my spreadsheet are automatically updated where there is a Date in Column A but no values in Column B or C?
In other words, i need the script to read the date in Column A and if Column B and Column C are blank, then it needs to find the corresponding date excel file and copy Value 1 and Value 2 into the cells in my spreadsheet.
i made a macro that uses a form with a "browse" button to open a text file and put every word in this textfile in a single cell but i had a problem when copying the address of the file to a textfield, here's the code :
I have a list of about 300 addresses that I'd like to be able to put in a sortable state. In column A1-A4 is the following:
Name Street Address City, State Zip Email Address
Then there is a blank row and then the next address. What I would like to do is figure out a way to take the info in columns A1-A4 and move them horizontally to A1, B1, C1, D1, respectively. Sure, I could cut and paste, but it would take me forever. I tried a macro,
The code below looks at file names in column A and then goes to a folder and opens and copies the data in range c2 -lastrow from each file and pastes the data into sheet2.
how I could add to the code so that it also inserts the file name in column c?
It would make it easier to track the data in column B.
VB: Sub CopyFromFile() Dim fPath As String Dim lRow As Long
[Code].....
I have attached a sample workbook. The list of file name is in sheet 1. An example of the output is in sheet 2. The data in column A is dummy data generally spans 100's of rows not just 10 as in the example.
The purpose of the code is to be able to put a list of file names in column a in sheet 1 and extract data from those files in a folder. The data extraction works fine. The reson for adding the file names is so that I know what file the data came from.
I'm really looking for a way to get the full address of the external file by specifying the file name in a cell and then evaluate the formula. For example,
[Code] .....
is the full address of the source file called 'Source'. My idea is: if I just type the file name 'Source' in a workbook's cell $A$1, and in cell $B$1 I want to make the formula something like:
="C:Users["&$A$1&".xlsx]Sheet1'!$F$1"
This will make my project very impressive with this feature: a user just types the file name to establish the link and evaluate the formula for results.
I already have code that I believe is supposed to do what I'm trying to accomplish. However, it doesn't fully work. The Macro is below:
VB: Workbooks.Open Filename:="C:Documents and Settingsplp138DesktopExample 1.xls" On Error Resume Next With Workbooks("Example 2.xls")[code]....
Basically, what I'm trying to accomplish is to have a certain range from one file copied, and pasted in the next available (empty) row of another file. While debugging I see that everything is working except for the actual pasting.
I am struggling to find a macro which can look at a name in column 'BT' and search it in the address book of Outlook to then place the email address of that person in column 'ED'
There are 35,000+ people in the address book and there may be over 5 email addresses for one name, so is there any way a message can appear for the user to select which email address is correct if there is more than 1 contact for that name?
On a worksheet called "Contact Info" column A starting in row 2 I have a list of names (variable length). In Columns B2-D I need the email address, work phone number, and cell phone number.
I am looking to take a like 20 files (it varies but this is an average) from my email and save them in a folder (by date) manually
From this I would like to create a file that has all 20 or so of these files pasted into ONE worksheet...
File one would paste in first with headers File two would paste in the first available row (this will vary) with no headers File three would paste in the first available row with no headers and so on...until they are all in the file.
Then save this file into the by date folder created with all the other reports in it with a COMPILED and the date title...e COMPILED 3.22.2012
I searched and I keep finding something that's not quite what I'm looking to do so I think I'm missing something really simple.
Let's say that I want each cell in col b to be the sum of 5 plus whatever value is in the cell adjacent to it on the left (col).
I know that you can just write a formula in each cell like...
b1 will be =sum(a1+5) b2 will be =sum(a2+5)
... but is there a shortcut so that you don't have to write out the actual cell address for each one?
Meaning - is there a predefined name or something that represents the cell to the left or right so you can just use that instead, allowing you to just copy paste the same formula all the way down the column? Something like...
b1 will be =sum(left+5) b2 will be =sum(left+5)
... where "left" represents whatever value is in the cell to the left of that particular cell?
I have a formula (AL15) to determine the address of the last column with a value greater than 1. =COUNTIF(C16:AC16,">=1")+2. I then use this column value to aquire the Absolute row "15" and the determined column=(ADDRESS(15,AL15,4)). This returns to me a Column value and row value that I need to use as a refference. How can I convert this returned value to a reference.
If a cell changes to true i want it to send an email to the address that is in another cell,
For example if F5 CHANGES to true then send email to address in G5,
From here i can add in the subject line, and body i just cant figure out how to get it to send to a specific email address based on the cell value, and also only do it once, when it changes to TRUE rather than everytime the sheet is active, so i would require a macro to constantly be running, or run of off the cell when it changes
I've a sheet that presents the profitability of sales locations in a geographic layout (similar to Tables in a restaurant), each sales location is a cell, with roughly 1,600 locations presented. Each location is colour coded based on performance / measure, in a basic thermographic way [e.g. dark blue for very poor, solid red for high performance] with users being able to change metrics and re-colour cells accordingly.
The sheet is already information rich, but I'm wanting to detect the cell address directly under the pointer and populate a text box or other cell based on the value in the cell directly below the mouse pointer.
My question is; Is there a simple way of detecting the mouse position on the XL Grid? nb. Want to avoid having to activate cell beneath pointer.
