May 31, 2014I have attached here an excel sheet with some data. I need to show the minus value in D5 as a plus sign, is there any conditional formula to work this out??

Plus Or Minus Sign In The Beginning?
Jul 29, 2008I want to save phone no as +99 9876543210 in excel 2003 on my xp pro machine. But if i give a + sign in the cell, some blue dotted rectangle shows up and everything messes up.. I think it is treating it as a formula or something... how can i save this in the cell. tell me in detail if you are going to tell me about macros or vb code as I don't know how to insert code or program macros.

Nov 4, 2012I have devised a simple formula when a member of staff enters a date and time into a cell it starts deducting from todays date and time. ie:
Cell A1 - Date and time is entered by staff
Cell B1 - Is the above cell +24hrs
Cell C1 - NOW()
Cell D1 - B1-C1 Formatted in hours ( [h] :mm:ss (Like a count down clock)
The problem i have is that i cannot get Cell D1 to show minus ours it just goes to negative and shows continous #####. Is there any way i can get Cell D1 to show the hours it has gone minus by.

In B1 I have the 30 min braek we take at work 0.30
in C1 the end of shift time (16:00)
In D1 total hours (formula : = sum(C1-A1)-B1
and it is OK EXCEPT if the employee has the day off.
In that case A1 and C1 are empty but because of B1 I get in D1 the terrible ####
How can I remedy this ... this sheet cannot be edited in anyway. ( I cannot delete or edit anything)
Thought of an IF but the #### are not a value so I cannot do much in the way of conditional fprmats ... how not to show these #### when the sheet is printed.

Formula To Calculate How Many Hours Minus 30 Mins For Lunch
Jan 12, 2009If a person does a full day I want the formula to calculate how many hours minus 30 mins for lunch i.e. 7:30 - 4:00 = 8 hours. I have done this and it works fine, the problem comes when a person does a half day i.e. 7:30 - 11:30, this will read 4.5 hours. If this is the case I don't want the 30mins deducted so it should be 4.0 hours worked.
I have high lighted a column in the work sheet (yellow) whereby the user puts an 'x' in the appropriate cell if they are working a half day.
The probem is I cannot incorperate the two formulas in one cell (the Actual hours cell) I have the one formula in the actual hours cell and the other bolted on the end thus giving two different readings.

SKU - PRICE - SALEPRICE - DESCRIPTION - SALEDESCRIPTION
What I am trying to do, is to make a concat formula that says:
SALEDESCRIPTION = DESCRIPTION+price was+PRICE+now+SALEPRICE
In essence so that i can simply pull down the formula, and all our product descriptions have 'special offer, was xx (price) is now xx (sale price).
This works fine, except that in the SALEDESCRIPTION, the amounts from the price and saleprice fields are being brought over without decimal places and without currency symbol.
I have tried formatting those two columns as currency or accounting but neither works.

Getting A Formula To Show Zero Until It Is Used
Aug 4, 2009I have used excel to create a set of timesheeets and a total page, on the total page there is a column that will show you any varience on your hours each month (I.e if you have worked overtime or under your hours)
I have used the formula =(worked+hours+sick)-(weekly hours*week in month)
This works fine the only problem is in shows a minus number until the hours for that month have been entered so I cant create a total column, is they any way to get these numbers to show 0 until the times are entered?
