Issuing Word Commands From Excel Macro

Nov 20, 2006

I am trying to build a word document from an excel macro (with some success) and I am running into some issues with excel not understanding some of the word macro commands. An excellent example of this is when I am trying to insert a page break as seen in the below code snippet:

'open word and create a new document
Dim wdApp As Object
Set wdApp = CreateObject("Word.application")
wdApp.documents.Add

'put some text into the document
wdApp.Selection.typetext Text:="Document title"
wdApp.Selection.TypeParagraph
'insert a page break
wdApp.Selection.InsertBreak Type:=wdPageBreak

I know the insert break command works fine because I can get it to work within a word macro. When trying to get excel to run it in word is another story. I get the following error message:

run-time error '9118':
Parameter value was out of acctable range

Debug
wdPageBreak = empty

Different Commands When Pasting Excel To Word

Nov 26, 2011

What are the different commands for pasting data from excel to word? The code I have below pastes excel cell data to word as a picture. What if I want to paste excel cell data as embedded in the word document (I don't want it linked, just want the user to be able to edit it as an Excel sheet within the Word document). Thinking that I need to change the "DataType:=wdPasteText" part, but I don't know the correct syntax. Tried wdPaste but that did not work.

sub mysub()
Dim WdObj As Object, fname As String

fname = "myfilename"[code]....

Macro For Issuing A "Work Order"

Mar 18, 2008

I have is a spreadsheet for maintenance on various equipment around my work site. I have the cells that contain the dates of the last maintenance performed conditionally formatted that when it reaches 2 months time after that work, they will turn yellow and alert me that it is time to perform that maintenance again. What i would like to have is a seperate sheet in the workbook that is nothing but "Work Orders", in other words once the cell turns yellow, it will also appear on the seperate sheet. Then I could print that "Work Order" sheet that would only have the certain piece of equipment that needs to be maintained on it, where as the main sheet will have all my equipment. I dont know if i need a formula for this, if so then I have posted the question on the wrong board, or a macro.

Recorded Macro Missing Paste Commands

Nov 13, 2008

I have been using the "record macro feature". What I want the macro to do is as follows.
1. cut all data from column C and paste it into G.
2. Use the textTocolumns feature to split a comma delimited string into 2 seperate columns.
3. user the textToColumns feature to remove any leading spaces from column G.
4. cut columns d-H and shift them left startign in column C.

I can do all of this find bu using the GUI while recording the macro but when I check the vb script it's completely missing the paste commands.

When I try and run the macro it, quite rightly, returns "run-time error '1004':No data was selected to parse.

Below is the resulting recorded macro.

How do I amend this macro do include pasting the cut data?

Assign Macro To Word Formfield From Excel

Oct 7, 2013

I have two files, a workbook and a document, and both are macro-enabled files. The workbook is my main file for my project and the document is my template. The workbook is basically my database with vba program that populate data to Word document. My word document is a template that has macros saved in a module. Aside from populating the data, workbook also create formfields on to the document and assign macro (ExitMacro).

However, i'm getting Run-time error (4210): Bad parameter message when i try to assign the macro to formfields. I noticed that this happened when the macro was saved in the module of the document. The workbook program works fine if the document macro was saved in Normal.dot, which i don't want to do.

Using Macro To Print Various Word And Excel Files In Different Folders

Jun 2, 2014

What I want to create is an excel file such as:

A
B
C

1
File
Qty
Yes/No

[Code]......

Where Qty sets how many copies for that particular doc, and Yes/No determines if it needs to be printed at all.

Each file will be in a subfolder relative to the excel file.

So it would work like this (somehow)

If Cell, C2 = 1, then print CurrDirSection1examplefile.xlsx, qty= B2 , defaultprinter
If Cell, C3 = 1, then print CurrDirSection2examplefile.docx, qty= B3 , defaultprinter
If Cell, C4 = 1, then print CurrDirSection2examplefile.docx, qty= B4 , defaultprinter

and so forth.

Macro To Copy Data Within Excel Into Tables In A Word Document

Jan 25, 2010

Currently I am going back and forth between an excel document and a word document cutting and pasting values from the excel spreadsheet into tables in word. The task is a regular occurance therefore I wish to create a Macro that can automate this procedure. Both the excel and word documents are fixed templates therefore once a Macro is created it can be applied to all future work of similar nature.

Each table in the word document contains 6 rows of values in a single column. The excel data is arranged in a table that is 6 rows by x number of columns (how ever many sets of values there are for the particular job) therefore x determines how many tables must exist in the word document. I move between the excel and word document cutting and pasting each column into each table. This is not so time consuming if x=10 however on occasion x=100+ and it does take time.

Excel 2010 :: Macro To Import Multiple Word Tables Into Worksheet

Jun 5, 2014

I am trying to take multiple tables from a Word document and import them into an Excel worksheet. Currently I have found two versions that when combined, could yield what I am looking for. The first one imports the table's data from Word, but does not maintain formatting of the table (font, colors, rows/columns etc.):

The next code maintains formatting, but only imports/pastes one table:

[Code] .........

For the second one, I do not like the fact that it is calling a specific Workbook to paste into. If I could somehow maintain the ability to import/past multiple tables while keeping formatting that would be perfect. An extra bonus would be to import each table within the Word document into individual Worksheets in Excel. I am also using Office 2010.

Macro To Copy Data From Excel Worksheet To Microsoft Word Document

Jan 28, 2011

I have a macro set up in Excel that formats and deletes rows matching a citeria. Once the macro runs I then manually copy the data across into Word. I would like to automate this.

I would like the macro to copy over any cells containing data iinto a new word document. I also have standard text that I would like to include at the beginning and end of the word document. With the excel data being placed in the centre.

I have searched the web and tried a couple of macros with no luck. All the macros state "' requires a reference to the Word Object library: ' in the VBE select Tools, References and check the Microsoft Word X.X object library"

I am unsure how to reference this - but I have checked and found that the object library ticked is Microsoft Word 11.0 Object Library.

Pick Word From Excel Search In MS Word And Replace All

Jan 4, 2012

I am trying to automate the below process:

1. I have a excel file with Japanese words in column A and their English equivalents in column B.

2. I am trying to create a Macro and assign it to a button. On pressing the button Macro should be able to:

3. open a form where I can enter location of a word file.

4. Macro should open the word file specified in (3).

5. Macro will pick up first Japanese word from excel file (Sheet 1 - A1)

6. Search for that word in Word file

7. Replace the Japanese words in Word file with their English equivalent from excel (B1)

8. Then it should search for second word (A2) and replace with its equivalent (B2) and so on till it reaches last filled cell in excel file column A.

Replace Word In MS Word With Varable From MS Excel

In other words, look at the numbers in column R. Only the 14.08 rows are supposed to be boxed in red. I can't understand why the 30.08 and the 46.08 are boxed in red??? And puzzling to me is why the 46.08 near the top are boxed, yet the 46.08 near the bottom are not boxed.
