Looping Through A Range And Applying A Calculation

Feb 6, 2008

I have 10 ranges that if the value in a cell falls into one of those ranges, a calculation needs to occur. I think I need to use a macro which i have set up to run off a button click, with a do loop in it, but not sure how to get the loop to move down the range?

for example:

Cell Reference(s):

D
1 250
2 700

Range:

A B C
1 0 150 75
2 150.01 300 125
3 etc.. etc.. etc..

Formula:

=if(and(d1>a1,d1

Applying Date Range

May 18, 2009

To explain I have two sets of merged data. On one fixed column I have two different sets of peoples age

1 - by age grouip eg 25 - 34
2 - By birth year so 01/02/1983

I know that person who is born between 1975 and 1984 would fall into the age group 25 - 34

I want to convert all the birth years into age groups. Its a lot of data (30,000 rows +) in random order

Does anyone have any idea how I would set this up, as I really want to add "age group" to a pivot table I have.

Applying Routine Over Unique Range

Jun 29, 2006

I was able to get my four conditional statements in VBA to work. This covers one complete row of data (week), but I need it to cover an entire year. Rather than cut and pasting 365 times (and some UGLY code at that), I have been trying to figure out how to add a loop or something to cover a range of different rows. Basically Columns B though V are good for row 21. Now every 14th row I need this routine to work for (B35:V35, B49:V49, etc) for 52 weeks. I was playing around with the idea of two for statements taht would count shifts (21 = 7 * 3) and weeks (52). Then step the rows at 14 and the columns at 1 (Rows = Rows + 14) for 52 iterations. I'm sure there is a better way to distribute this routine.

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim changeRange As Range

Select Case Mid(Target.Address, 2, 1) 'Column Letter
Case "B"
Set changeRange = Range("B21")
Case "C"
Set changeRange = Range("C21")
Case "D"
Set changeRange = Range("D21")
Case "E"
Set changeRange = Range("E21")

Excel 2007 :: Applying Conditional Formatting To A Dynamic Named Range?

Jul 10, 2012

I have an Excel 2007 Workbook which is refreshed by a Web Query. I have dynamic named range defined as "Manager" which I've confirmed is correctly identified. This range includes only one column and is formatted as text.

When I try to reference this range in my conditional formatting "refers to" formula, all cells are recognized as blank even though the range clearly contains many cells that are not. For example, there are 90 records containing the initials "PD". If I use the formula =Manager="PD" in my conditional formatting, nothing changes. If I change it to =Manager="" then ALL records are formatted, including those that are not blank.

Stranger still, if I enter the formula =COUNTIF(Manager,"PD") into and empty cell in my worksheet those 90 records are counted correctly. Which leads me to believe it isn't about the data. Conversely, =COUNTIF(Manager,"") returns the correct count of only cells that are, in fact, blank.

I've tried using the OFFSET formula defining my range in place of the name itself for my conditional format formula to no avail.

Looping Through Range

Apr 25, 2007

writing a macro that will look to cell A15 on a worksheet "A", decide how big a range is (which is in contiguous cells beneath it - i.e. A20), then select the value of each cell and paste it into a cell in worksheet "B" (for example, if the macro decides the range is 3, then A15 = 1, it would copy and paste that onto the next workbook, then go back to A16 and get that value, paste it into the next workbook, etc). The range will vary in size.

Looping For Vlookup In A Range?

Jun 16, 2014

I have a 2 X 44 range of text cells in one worksheet. The first column includes the same array of variables that are found on a second worksheet. In the second worksheet I want to run a looping vlookup to check if the column in the second worksheet is empty, if it is not I want it to lookup the element in that column in that row from the first worksheet and return the 2nd column item to the adjacent column in the second worksheet.

When I run my program in its current form two problems happen. The first row in the range of the column I want the data returned in is empty, and for the rest of the rows the same value is returned, when it should in fact vary. I think part of the problem is that in my vlookup my entries are:

vlookup(CrudeType, Range("Sources"), 2, false) where crudetype is defined as Range("c2:c" & lrow). This is the C column on the second sheet, I want my output in the D column. Range("sources") is on the first sheet and covers D2:E45.

Looping To Select A Range

Mar 1, 2007

My ultimate goal is to have some rows of data and and checkbox with each row. I will have a button that will copy only the rows that are checked and paste them into a new worksheet. With the help of some other posts on this site, I was able to figure out how to loop through the checkboxes and copy and paste some data. The problem is I am only copying and pasting in the same rows. I need to know how to move on to the next row that is checked, which is not always the very next row. Here is what I have so far:

Dim i As Integer
For i = 1 To 26
If ActiveSheet. OLEObjects("CheckBox" & i).Object.Value = True Then
Worksheets("Master"). Range("B8:J8").Select
Selection.Copy
Sheets("temp").Select
Worksheets("temp").Range("A8").Select
ActiveSheet.Paste
Sheets("Master").Select
End If

Code To Find Range Without Looping

May 4, 2009

As a part of a much larger routine, I need a code to find five consequetive cells in a column with identical value "XYZ" and select the first one of them. Say,

I have a column:
apples,
pears,
apples,
oranges,
xyz,
oranges,
xyz,
xyz,
xyz,
apples,
apples,
apples,
xyz,
xyz,
xyz,
xyz,
xyz,
xyz,
xyz,
etc.

I need to select the twelfth cell in this column, highlighted red.
I guess there could be some complicated if-then loop to go through the whole column, checking each cell and comparing it to the next four, but it would take forever to excecute... Is there some other way around? To find the first occurence of five xyz's one directly under another?

Looping Through Range And Inserting Formula Where Condition Met

Feb 6, 2014

I am having trouble looping through a range and inserting a formula where a condition is met.

My range is "h9:i"

My current code inserts a formula in column i when there is a value in the adjacent row in column h:

[Code] .....

However, because there are so many rows (12,000+) it is taking a considerable length of time to run.

Some of the cells in column i will already contain the relevant formula, so to speed this up I want to insert the formula in column i only when the cell value (in column i) is not null, as opposed to inserting it for all cells within the range.

I know how to loop through the range, but the problem is the 'H9' cell reference in the formula in the code above will need to change depending on what row it is being inserted into- so if it is going into "i31" this will need to be "h31".

Range Variant Looping Macro Many Workbooks

I have about 20 different workbooks and i want to create identical tables and graphs in each one of them using the least number of steps.

The number of the rows changes by workbook but the colums are identical. So the range will vary by workbook.

so for example:

workbook1=

name sales
a 10
b 20
c 30

workbook2=
name sales
a 10

So I want a macro that does the tabling and charting in workbook1 and automatically moves to workbook2 and so on.

Looping Through Range Whilst Copying And Pasting To / From Different Sheets?

I'm trying to run through each northing (row value U5:U100), for every easting (V4:BR4), by writing the coordinate value to sheet("ISO_model"), cell K18. Within the sheet (ISO_model) there is a model which gives an output in cell HA500. I'd like to write this output (for the specific easting and northing) back into the sheet ("layout"), so that I then have the x,y, z values to create a contour plot.

I've tried to start the look through the row of eastings, but it is not working.

Const MyDir As String = "C:"
With ThisWorkbook
ThisFile = .Worksheets("2006-07").Range("b3").Value
. SaveAs Filename:=MyDir & ThisFile
End With
ActiveWorkbook.Save
End Sub

The above VBA works by saving a copy of existing Workbook by refering to cell A1 and then Pasting Special worksheet 2006-07 which has external links. Is it possible to create a looping macro that refers worksheet("BUs") which list all business units I need to run and save? Graduated Range Calculation

I need to do a formula to work out how much NI and tax someone would have to pay on their gross wages.

The rules are that

Income tax to pay
up to £5035 =0
from £5036 to £7185=10%
from £7186 to 33,300=22%
and £33,301 upwards = 40%

then on NI fixed £109.20
and from £5,035 to £33,540 =8%
and £33,541 upwards 1%

I have tried using the 'if' statements but it just won't work, it always comes back saying there is an error.

Calculation In Range In Formula Area?

Mar 3, 2014

I'm trying to do this:

Column A, B C
A has lets say 100 elements with certain ratings.
B has has a,b or c for each rating from column A.
C returns a for each rating from column A.

I search for a rating with this formula:
= INDEX(range,MATCH(rating;range,1,1,1))

Now I have the relative position of the rating in that range. Now I want to search for "b" in column B that reflects that rating. For instance:

Columns:
10 a 1
20 c 1
30 b 1
40 c 2
...
Search rating = 40 so C would be the answer.

But in that range A1:B4 I want to search for the position of the last b from column B

I tried this but I can't calculate the ranges:

match("b";b1:b1+x,0))
x= INDEX(a1:a100,MATCH(40;a1:a100,1,1,1))

Date Calculation Across A Range Of Dates

Note: this file is created from a vb.net application at runtime where this excel file is actually an xlt template. I attached it as an xls to make it easier to look at. EDIT: I have a flag in the Annual/Semi-Annual that blanks out cells that are not needed if Annual. It causes my LeadTime Col. to blow chunks and I can't seem to get past an error in the formula since adding this.

Range("BU5").Copy
