Is it possible to insert a formula or have a calculation performed for the range component when using the countif statement.

I am trying to take the entries in the rows in column B and divide its corresponding row in column A and then count how many meet a certain criteria.

I'm trying to design an if statement that refers to a range of cells on a calculation sheet to perform one calculation on TRUE; another on FALSE

=IF(A22='Calculation Sheet'!A27:A36,B22*100/16,B22*100/8)

When I view the formula in Function Arguments window, Value_if_true = 1043.75 & Value_if_false = 2087.5 <- these are correct

When I view the cell in the spreadsheet, system displays #VALUE!

When I view Evaluate Formula window, it seems Excel doesn't like the text.

Can Sub Routines Be Performed

Many years ago I wrote some structural analysis programmes in BBC Basic. I still use them but the hardware is now getting old and I am worried that, if it packs up, so do my calculations. The calcs. in BBC Basic include many subroutines which, basically, run the same calculation numerous times on an iterative basis until a solution is found, e.g. the highest point on a curve, the lowest point on a curve etc. etc.. This use FOR 1 to 300 and NEXT statements. Once a figure is obtained it might well be used by another part of the programme. The programme is also interactive, allowing me to choose a suitable timber beam for instance from a selection that the programme has listed as satisfying all the stress criteria. Once I specify a joist size the programme continues and provides a detailed calculation, based on the section size chosen.

Can Excel be programmed in this way?

I have attached a copy of my spreadsheet .My formula is in column BA and I am trying to figure out which students have 5 A* - C. We are only allowed to add 2 vocational subjects to this formula so basically 3 (or More) GCSEs + 2 BTEC/OCR Nationals. Now my formula works pretty well except if the candidate has 4 GCSEs and 0 or 1 BTEC it is still calculating as though the candidate has achieved 5 A* - C.

I have highlighted GCSE Subj in pink and Vocational Subj in Puple.

Combining IF Statement With Calculation?

I am putting together a spreadsheet that needs to perform different calculations based on the information that is plugged in to the spreadsheet. Right now, I have a simple formula for my final product, which is:
=G2-E3-F3+C3+D3

But, if the variables change, then I have another cell with this formula:
=IF(OR(C4=0,D4=0),"",SUM(G2,H3))

Now, my first problem is that I need to get the information regarding D4 out of the above formula. Someone wrote the formula below to combine the information in cell C3 & D3, so I no longer need the reference to cell D4 in the above formula. How to remove the D4 references without getting an error.

You will notice that the 2nd formula has cell C4. This cell has an IF statement in it. The statement is as follows: =SUM(IF(C3=0.875,D3-0.625,D3))

Basically, what I need to do is to combine the first & second formulas on this page. How to do that.

IF Statement With Date Calculation Within

I have several columns as so:

B - Patient Surname
C - First Surname
D - Postcode
E - Date
F - Results of If Statement (Days Difference)

I am looking to comapre b, c, d with teh previous cells to make sure I am looking at the same person hcen the AND statement. If they all match then if subtracts the latest date (column E) from an ealier date for the same person. If the person is different it will return a 0. If the date is the same ti will return a 0.

I have done this so far - =IF(AND(B2=B1,C2=C1, D2=D1),(E2-E1),0)

What I am struggling to do is if the number of days (E2-E1) is 0-3 then for the result to show the text "Less then 3". If the value is 4 - 7 then to have it read "Less then 7", anything over 7 to read "OVer 7".

creating a multiple if statement. I have 3 columns in Sheet 1 called "Raw Data". Column A is dates, Column B is Clients and Column C is Products. I want to count the number of products sold to a specific client on a specific date. In Column A, the are multiple dates repeated as there are different sales reps so i have the dates repeated several time.

the current formula i am using is:

=COUNTIFS('Raw Data'!$A:$A="2013/01/01",'Raw Data'!$B:$B,="MotorCity",'Raw Data'!$C:$C,="Cars")

the problem is that i keep getting 0 as a value. If i remove the Date as a variable, the formula works. I just cant seem to count multiple criterias if the date is one of them.

This formula is being used in a vacation time spreadsheet. So after each paycheck the if statement is applied and need to calculate the accumulation for that week based on if the person has worked 5 yrs or less. I need to stop the today's date calculation in the if statement after it is used. So that each time the spreadsheet is opened the values are a fixed number not changed based on the current date. However if the if statement is pasted into the next pay week it will calculate based on the actual date.

It is calculating is the following:

C4 = 5yrs Anniversary Date of Hire
3.08= less than 5 yrs
4.62= more than 5 yrs

I am trying to have a cell in sheet "Summary" count the number of cells in column DX of sheet "Analyses" that are greater than 0, provided that the value in column A of "Analyses" corresponds with the value in B8 of sheet "Summary."

(In "Analyses," there are 106 subjects, each taking up 64 rows. So, columns 1-64 correspond to Subject 1, columns 65-128 correspond to subject 2, etc. In column DX, each subject has 64 values that are either 0 or greater than 0. In "Summary," each subject has one row that summarizes the 64 trials. I want a single cell in the "Summary," sheet to reflect the number of times each subject produces a value greater than 0 in column DX of "Analyses.") I tried using this formula, but it did not work correctly:

=COUNTIF(IF(Analyses!$A$1:$A$10000=Summary!B8,Analyses!$DX$1:$DX$10000,""),">0")

(Summary!B8 = 1, so I am trying to calculate the number of values in DX that are greater than 0 only for subject 1.) When I press enter, this yields a value of 384. This is impossible, given that subject 1 only has 64 possibilities of yielding a value greater than 0. Subject 1 has 2 values in column DX that are greater than 0. I tried making this an array formula by pressing Shift+Ctrl+Enter, and that just gives me a #VALUE! error.

Countif Statement With NA Results For Chart / Bar Graph?

I have a countif statement based on certain criteria in a table which is reading off of a drop down list on a separate sheet.

Apple (a1) =COUNTIF(Table2[Fruits],+'Drop Downs'!A1) ...and the results are 3
Pear (a2) = =COUNTIF(Table2[Fruits],+'Drop Downs'!A2) ..and the results 0
Banana (a3) = =COUNTIF(Table2[Fruits],+'Drop Downs'!A3) ...and the results are 1

I have also set up a bar graph (this may change to a pie chart at some point) which is feeding from this. My question is, if I do not want to any results with 0 value to show up on my chart (both on the X&Y axis), how do i amend the formula to do this? I read in a couple of places about the NA() function or about just hiding the rows, but if this chart is updated "live"on a weekly or monthly basis, I would like to chart to move with the data simultaneously...so the numbers will change, sometimes they will be 0, others they may not.

Adding Another Condition To Sumproduct (countif) Statement

I am using the formula below to count the occurences of relevant text strings (names) in a cell that can contain many separate strings. It works great. "References!$F$2:$F$34" contains my list of names and the formula returns how many occurences there are in each cell.

What i'd like to do know is work in a date criteria. Each name has an associated relevant date attached to it as does each cell that I am looking for these names in.

So...in english what Id like to do is alter my formula so that when it finds a text string that exists in "References!$F$2:$F$34", it then compares the associated date in "References!$G$2:$G$34" with the date associated with N3 which happens to be O3.

SUMPRODUCT(COUNTIF(N3,"*"&References!$F$2:$F$34&"*"))

I keep getting this error message: Error 429: ActiveX Component Cannot Create Object

I fond a site that explained the problem: "If Microsoft Excel 97 is installed after an application created with Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 that uses DAO is installed, Excel does not add the DAO design-time licensing key. This licensing key is required by Excel, but is not required by applications created with Visual Basic."
But I can not figure out how to fix it. I changed the registry and added the licensing key, but I still got the error.

VB Component: Remove Before Close

I have been deleting some VBComponents by using the .remove command and they get tagged for deletion but do not actually get deleted until after my VBA sub ends and control is returned to excel.

I would like to save the changes before control is returned to the user. I'm not really sure why the deletion is being held up until execution ends, it even waits until all calling functions have also finished their execution.

The onyl way to find out is to add every single combination of all the numbers in the list. I have a control sheet that needs to fetch numbers from a different worksheets depending on the worksheet name that I type into a cell. So if I type "sheet1" into cell A1 then I want the formulas on the sheet to automatically change fetch the data from sheet1. Then if I type in "sheet2" for example, the formula must then look at sheet2 for example. The source sheets are all identical in layout so not bothered about the actual cell ranges. I can do this in VBA but would like to keep this simple in Excel formulas.

I have a small problem with a list of event codes in the form XX###, (Xs are letters, # numbers), I need to be able to find the largest numerical component in the list, and am having problems finiding a neat way of doing it.

I could do it by using the RIGHT command to get the numerical bit in a seperate column, then convert it to number, then use LARGEST, but this seems somewhat cumbersome!
