Merge Date/time Value , Concatenate ?
Sep 3, 2008how can i merge Date 1 and Time 1 into a cell ? And give me mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm format? And then a subtraction on 9/3/2008 0:00:40 - 9/2/200823:31:25, which give me a hh:mm:ss result?

View 5 RepliesI would like to merge a colum with a date and a column with a time into one to show DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM
I have tried merge cells and it takes out the time and leaves the date only.
What i need is to be able to concatenate a field such that it includes current system year, month, day and time. My attached spreadsheet illustrates my current formatting to achieve year, month, day. But I seem to be challenged in getting the current time to display properly.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi need to create a macro that is dynamic.
i have attached a example on here.
My main idea is that i have to select the rows/column to compare that they are the same for the selected column then concatenate and merge.
In my example, i wan Column B be like Column D... but in the end i wan it to be like Column F if they are the same.
I have a worksheet with 10000 plus entries in ten columns From K to T. I wish to have a macro with Concatenate function to merge certain Columns from these ten columns, in one column with help of input boxes which may ask inputs, about range (from and to ), and number of digits to concatenate in the required column. I use Excel 2003 XP in work but an example is 2007 attached.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to merge cells A1:GR1 in to one cell by using the concatenate formula and the copying and pasting the values in to the same cell.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have some records. I want to merge them through macro in a singel cell, like I have selected a range then I want to merge them in active cell with a comma.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to join together up to 32 arrays. I haven't even managed to join 2! can it be done in excel 2003 VBA? the arrays are 2 dimensional (x Rows, 3 Columns).
I have tried this but just produced empty variants:
I have been using the CONCATENATE function to merge 2 strings together into a single cell. However the problem is, the third concatenated cell depends on the other 2 existing. The idea is I want to take 2 columns of data, and use a formula to merge them, then delete the original 2 data columns so I have a single column with the full data merged.
COL 1 (A3) = First Name
COL 2 (B3) = Last Name
COL 3 (C3) = Full Name (wanted)
So I do =CONCATENATE(A3,B3) and that puts the fullname in C3, but I want to sort of "flatten" C3 so that I have the fullname by itself and I can delete the original cells (A, and B)
I have several hundred cells that I would like to merge into one cell seperated by a "/".
Concatenate usually works, but I got a big fat NO WAY! from excel when I tried to do too many.
I am attempting to pick up a date with time entry on a worksheet and place it into a TextBox on a UserForm. Format on the sheet is mm/dd/yyyy h:mm AM/PM. The UserForm is placing the value as mm/dd/yyyy 12:00 AM. here is the
Private Sub UserForm_Initialize()
If Not Range("dDate").Value = "" Then
TextBox2.Value = Range("dDate").Value
TextBox2.Text = Format(DateValue(TextBox2.Text), "mm/dd/yy h:mm AM/PM")
Else
TextBox2.Value = ""
TextBox2.SetFocus
End If
End Sub
"dDate" is the named range where the date is sitting. The format is also set on the TextBox2 exit event. Can anyone see why only the date portion is being transfered with the default 12:00 AM for no time component of the value?
I have two cells. Cell A1 contains ‘The date is ’ cell B1 is formatted in the date format, 2007-01-24. I need to concatenate these two cells so that on cell C1 I have ‘The date is 2007-01-24’ but whatever I try excel keeps on changing the date to a text value and hence I am left with: ‘The date is ‘This is the date'39141 or this is the date 39141. how to get to the result that I am after?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem getting the date to show up when I add the date as a referenced cell to a formula using CONCATENATE. The date shows up as a serial value instead of a date format. The formula that I'm trying to get to work is in cell J7 on the attached file.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have loaded a .csv file in which the first column contains date/times, e.g. 01/12/2012 00:00. How do I now tell Excel (2010) that this is in fact a date/time format? If I select one or more of the cells, click on the Number dialog box launcher and try to pick a suitable format tghe cells resolutely refuse to budge from being text (i.e. left-justified, still allows me to edit the 'seconds' component to a number > 60). Also which data type should I be using? The only one that appears to have a full date/time format listed is Custom (not Date or Time).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using the following formula on Excel 2010 in conditional formatting
=$D5=VLOOKUP($B5,'Approved Master OLD'!$B:$BC,3,0)=FALSE
However I am trying to apply this to a whole column but the numbers are not (D5,B5) moving down (to D6,B6), When I use the format painter it is taking too long as I can only merge conditional formatting on one cell at a time and I have 30 colums and 390 rows to apply this formatting to.
I have a column of values resulting from subtracting a static date and time from the current date and time.
This means it is constantly updating, which makes it impossible to sort.
All my work depends on sorting those values, though.
I import data from a program that exports dates and times as text. I have been successful using "text to columns" to separate the time from the date and then using =text(A1,"00:00")+0 to get the time to show as serial time but I'd love to be able to do the whole date/time string in one step. In cell A1 there is data that is general format and is in this format:
01/01/13 00001
No matter how you try to format it, it is not a date or time. For this project I need the serial number for the date/time. Any formula that will format it as date/time and then allow it to show as a serial date/time?
I have 04/02/08 12:00:01 AM (mm/dd/yy hh:mm:ss AM/PM) in text format in a cell. I need to convert this to date/time custom format as given above so that I can make comparisons with NOW() output.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to use to prepare for analysis a large set of individual participants' Excel data files collected using a psychological reaction-time experiment (a modified Stroop task). This experiment was created using a program called Superlab by Cedrus, so I posted an inquiry at the Superlab forum [url]. Their tech support suggested I might need to use macros in Excel but couldn't offer further assistance. I'll try to briefly describe (a) our Stroop task, (b) the operations I'm trying to carry out, and (c) the format of the individual Excel files,
Our Stroop task: The participant gets some instructions and practice trials, then a series of stimulus words are presented one word at a time in the center of a computer monitor in one of several colors. Word presentation order is randomized for each participant. The participant must press a key corresponding to the color of each word as quickly as possible. For each keypress (including the spacebar, pressed on instructions screens), the reaction time (in msec) is recorded in their Excel spreadsheet under the 'Reaction Time' variable. The 'Error Code' variable indicates whether the participant pressed the correct (C) or incorrect (E) color key in each trial. There are 8 types of words for a total of 48 trials. (Actually, 4 sets of emotion words and 4 sets of control-animal words, each set composed of 6 words each. The task basically measures how much peoples’ attention is captured by emotionally relevant cues in the environment.)
For each participant's data, I need an efficient way (macros?) to:
(1) clean it [i.e. discard or ignore the instruction & practice trials as well as trials where the participant was too impulsive (reaction time < 100 msec), too distracted (rt > 3000 msec), or gave the wrong color response (Error Code= E)]
(2) determine whether enough valid trials remain for further analysis (>39 trials), and if so:
(3) calculate a mean reaction time score for each of the 8 word types [where denominator for each word type is based on # remaining (non-discarded) trials for that word type]
(4) merge each participant's summarized data as single rows in a common spreadsheet (for importation and further analyses in SPSS), like this:
---------------------------
ID#...... MeanRTW1.......MeanRTW2...... (etc. for word types 3-8)
101.......1056................2013...............
102.......2148................2594...............
103...
---------------------------
Excel File Format: I've attached a sample file, and here's a simplified overview of a spreadsheet (irrelevant columns and some rows removed). First the ID number is recorded (e.g., 393E), then some unnecessary junk (exp name & date, intro, practice, instructions), then data for the 48 actual trials of interest:
-------------------------------------------
........A...............B..................C.................D............
1 393E
2 stroop.xpt
3 Wed Jan 1, 12:33:00 2008
4
5
6 Trial Name.....Trial No..... Error Code.....ReactionTime
7 introduction..... 1................C............561243
8 practice.......... 2................C............... 2062
9 red-worried........14.............C................1001 (*the first practice trial)
10 (9 more practice trial rows, deleted here)
19 instructions........3..............C................5000
20 red-chicken......19..............E............... 1205
21 blue-tense.......32...............C.................782
* (46 more actual trial rows, deleted here)
--------------------------------------------------
To clarify:
-The variable 'Trial Name' indicates nominally what stimulus was presented for each trial.
-The variable 'Trial No.', indicates the unique numerical marker for each stimulus word. (It probably should have been labeled 'Word Type'. It doesn't reflect the order of stimulus presentation. E.g., the word "tense" is always 'Trial No.' 32 for all participants, regardless of when it presents.)
-A subset of actual trial words (e.g., worried) were also used for the 10 practice trials. Thus, the 10 practice trials must first somehow be discarded or flagged to be ignored before calculating average reaction times for the remaining 48 actual trials.
I am using the concatenate function, however my date field, instead of maintaining its 08/07/07 state, changes to the annoying 5 digit 33935 number.
Even if I cut and paste it as special / values, it stays as the 5 digit number. Can this be avoided somehow?
I am using Excel 2013. Anyway, the first issue is that I need to pull a date and a time period from text. So, for example, if I see something like Sunday Prime Time 7/6/14 8:37PM, I would want to pull ONLY the "7/6/14 8:37PM" out of it. Each text box could potentially be different, so it might not always be in the same format as "Sunday Prime Time 7/6/14 8:37PM" it might only show just the date and/or the time without all the extra text i.e. 7/6/14 8:37PM. Some of the cells will have text, others might only have just the time or even just the date and the time. The only thing that I am worrying about in each cell is extracting just the date and time. If this is too much to ask of excel, I would be ok with extracting ONLY the time - 8:37PM and not the date, but I would much rather be able to get both the time and date.
THEN, onto part two of my question. After I would pull the dates and times, I need to compare them with each other. So, when I have the same date with two separate times on that date, I need to write a formula to show if those times on that date are less than 30 minutes apart. So, if I have 6 times on 7/6/14, I need to know if any of them are less than 30 minutes apart.
I would need to have the formula say something like "Problem" if the times on 7/6/14 would be 5:30PM, 5:48PM, 7:00PM, 8:00PM, 8:15PM, and 9:00Pm for example. I would like to see the word "Problem" since 5:30PM and 5:48Pm is only 18 minutes apart, and "Problem" after 8:15PM since that is only 15 minutes past the 8:00PM which is obviously under 30 minutes. The times that are more than 30 minutes apart such as 7:00PM and 9:00PM for example are more than 30 minutes apart from any of the other times that were extracted.
I am concatenating a date with some text. However, after concatenating, the date becomes a text string. How do I preserve the date format? Pls see the attached file.

I keep getting the N/A error on this.
when i concatenate two cells (the word "excel" and today's date), i get
excel 39183...? i would like: excel 4/11/2007
I am trying to concatinate a cell to show both text and date (in format mmmm dd yyyy) using a vlookup from another worksheet.
Below is the coding I have in the cell:
="High Importance Request - effective " & VLOOKUP(1,'Fuel Surcharge Key Dates'!$A$6:$E$65536,2,FALSE)
The result I get in the cell from the formula is: I still get it to come out to 39327 instead of June 4 2007
The vlookup in the formula above retrieves a date that has a cell custom formatted to mmmm d, yyyy ... as this cell is not a date that is entered by a user but is further retrieved by another vlookup of dates. Even if I place the VLOOKUP in cell A3, reformat that cell to be a date and change the coding in the formula to:
="High Importance Request - effective " & A3. I still get it to come out to 39327 instead of June 4 2007
What is the code i need to use to assign a macro to a command button which inserts the current date and time in the selected cell regardless of where that cell is?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have attached a spreadsheet illustrating my query.
I would like to run a sub procedure called generatedataset then I'd like to enter a date from column J (starting from J4) into G12 ( cell G12 is a named range called effective_date). Then enter the concatenation of the adjacent cells K4 and L4 and place this into cell G9 (cell G9 is a named range called dataset_name). Then call the procedure again. Repeating for all values in range starting at J4 extending down, and for all corresponding concatenated values in K and L.
Data would always be taken from columns J or K&L and placed in the same cells ie G12 (named range effective_date) and G9 (named range dataset_name) respectively.
I would need support for the following:
I have one column with a date 26.09.2014 and one with a time: 09:15
I would need to merge both cells to be displayed as per this format: 26/09/2014 09:15
I use this formula: =CONCATENATE(A1;" ";B2) and get this result: 41908 09:15
I've tried to change the date format in first cell but nothing works and I always get the ref. number of the date instead.
