Message Box Displaying During If / Then / Else Function

I have some code which i would like to search a range of cells to see if a value is already used in this range. if it finds the value it will return a message box saying 'value found' and exit the sub, but when it doesn't find the value it will run extra code using "else" function. The code does what i want it to do, but it still returns the msgbox even if the the code in the "else" section runs.

I may be misunderstanding the point of error.type() command. I'm wanting an error message to appear once a cell goes below 0. So far, I've only managed to have the error message appear all the time, or never.

I have a range (A5:DG5). Some of these cells are empty, some are populated.

I have a football pool I am doing with my family. I would like a macro that displays a message box that tells me the leaders of the pool using the grand total number. So in my attachment, the message box would say something like:
Sue is in first place with 12 points,
Bob and Dave are in second place with 9 points,
Larry is in third place with 3 points
It doesn't need to be exactly like that, but you get the gist of what I am looking for. The catch here is that the grand total row changes each week as I add games in, so the row moves down every week. I need the macro to stay with the grand total row from week to week.

want a way to find out any special character in text file (.txt).
The .txt file I use is very large about 100 mb to 1GB. I need to find a way to write vba code that asks for input text file and the validates it and gives the message that following special characters are present in the file. Also, it gives their column number and row no's, where they are located.
The characters which needs not treated as special characters are numbers (0-9), alpha (A-Z) and special characters (@,-,%,$,+,=).

I am using Windows 7 and have a piece of code that brings up a warning message after 20 minutes to warn the user they have been in a workbook for too long.
If they have the Excel application window minimized, is there a way to get Excel to take the application out of minimized mode into max screen, before revealing the message.
Currently when the warning message activates, the excel icon just flashes in the start bar. Some users may not see this.

I have been trying to get this formula to work, and it appears it only works when it wants to and I cannot figure out why. What I'm trying to do: I have a spreadsheet with several columns of data, but I want the formula to read only two entire columns for a specific criteria for each column, then display the most recent date based off the criteria. I do not need to total up the criteria, just display the last date. This is what I have so far: =IF((AND(Sheet2!A:A=B2,Sheet2!B:B="Game: Counter Strike - Source")),MAX(Sheet2!C:C)).
I have this in a table, header as "last date" which is (C2), the B2 in my table would be where criteria would be typed in. So basically, my table should pull the last date from based off the criteria from raw data in sheet2, that is entered in to B2 on sheet1 and is "Game: Counter Strike - Source".

I am having trouble with some formulas displaying the results of the logical test as words.. For example.
=IF(E4>F4,100, IF(F4>E4, 200))
That works perfectly but I want "100" to be "Valid" and "200" to be "Invalid"
However...
=IF(E4>F4,Valid, IF(F4>E4, Invalid))
only results in the #NAME? error for me?

I would like to look at an array and find the largest number. Once that is found, return the text value that is in column B from that row. For example:
Column....A.......B.........C.....D
....................Apple......5.....1
...................Banana.....2.....3
...................Orange.....2.....7
In this example, I would be looking at the array C1:D3. Because the highest value is 7, I want the text "Orange" to be displayed in a new cell such as A5.
To find the largest number, I am using =Large(C1:D3,1). How do I display its' corresponding text value from column B in a new cell?

I've used the ROWS, Index, Small combination that works perfectly (Please see sample below). However, since the this software doesn't support the ROWS function, and doesn't support Macros.

I have a problem with a spreadsheet I am working on.
When a user clicks on column N in the sheet, I have a yes/no message box open asking if they would like to create an invoice for a customer, which opens an external spreadsheet.
The problem I have is that I can't seem to get the message box to perform seperate functions for each button (open the external spreadsheet 'for yes' OR Close the message box 'for no). I can only assign one funtion between the two buttons.
The code I have is as follows:

I am using the before double click event on a protected sheet. When the event fires the first thing the procedure does is unprotect the sheet, does stuff and then it applies protection again at the very end.
Regardless I still get the 'Function is not available on a protected worksheet' message. How can I stop the message? Any ideas? If no standard approach is available does anyone know how I can hook this using API?

Im currently studying for an ICT A level and im in my first year doing AS. Im working the AQA board and i have a project that i have a target for an A! I need to create a system for a business and write a report on everything i did...wont go into detail. Anyway. i am having trouble with an IF FUNCTION!!! I have a cell (E35) that contains a percentage.
I want the IF function to display a message depending on what the percentage in cell E35 shows;
IF, 0>> Display "Bad"
40>> Display "OK"
70>> "Good"
90>> Display "Very Good"
E35>=100 >>>> Display "Excellent"
I have tried so many things and I was so sure i entered it correctly, but it keeps coming up with an error.

Because countif cannot be used across multiple tabs, I'm using the following workaround where "MySheets" is the range of tabs and E8 is the cell I want "counted".
=SUMPRODUCT(COUNTIF(INDIRECT("'"&MySheets&"'!E8"),"Fully implemented"))
This works perfectly, except that I really need COUNTIFS... I want Excel to count either "Fully implemented" or "Partially implemented" when in E8. I cannot get the formula to work and keep getting an error message.
=SUMPRODUCT(COUNTIFS(INDIRECT("'"&MySheets&"'!E8"),"Fully implemented",(INDIRECT("'"&MySheets&"'!E8"),"Partially implemented")))

I have four cells c1 thru c4. The SUM of these cells must equal 1. I want to display an error message "sum of cells not equal to 1.0" but only when data has been entered in all four cells.
For instance =SUM(C1:C4, "<>1") should display the error message. Is there a way to write the formula with an IF statement and still use data validation with error message box?
Assumptions:
-Will ignore blanks
-Error message "Sum of cells are not equal to 1.0" until values in all four cells have been entered, not after a value is entered in a cell. (validate expression after all four cells have values or blank)
Scenarios:
c1 = .25, c2 is blank, c3 = .25, c4 = .50 TRUE no error message should displays
c1 = .25, c2 = .25, c3 = .25, c4 = .50 TRUE no error message should displays
c1 = .25, c2 = .30, c3 = .25, c4 = .50 FALSE error message should display after value is entered in c4
etc
What I don't want is for the error message box to display after .25 is entered in c1 because the user is still in the process of adding values. Can this be done using Data Validation in Excel 2010?

I am entering the following Nested IF(AND statement into a cell and getting a message stating "You've entered too many arguments for this function." Any idea on what formula I can use to get the needed information into this cell based on the fact that there are different inputs that can be entered into the related cell that will trigger the needed respons in the working cell?

I need to check a range of cells (B4:B35) and see if any of the contents are less than a specified cell (M1) and then show a message, (the message part I can do). I have tried using For Each but I then get the message for every cell that is below the specified cell (which in theory could be all of them). I have also tried using an If Any statement but didnt work.

I have tried different formula involving with decimal places.
If A1 has a whole number like 5141234 then the result would come out as a whole number =(A1-5148000)*1.000440935+48000
If A1 has three decimal places like 5142356.654 then the result would out as three decimal places

I was looking to have a Word for example 'Apple' but want it as a number e.g '10'. I want to use it so that I can add up the prices of items by just clicking on the name of the item. So If I want to add up 3 items e.g. an apple , a banana and a pear which all cost £10 each I want to be able to click all three items and get the total of £30 displayed in a certain box.

I have an XML file which I can open in Excel as an XML table. When I try to insert a chart from any of the data, a chart appears but the data appears as the legend but not as any lines on the chart. The column headings, which would normally appear as the legend, do not appear. The chart itself is blank. Does anyone have any ideas of a way to solve this?

Refer to the attached worksheet. On entering a value into cell C7, I'd like the value of the adjacent column D7 to be displayed in F6. Then when a value is entered in manually into C8, it will then update and put the value of D8 into F6. The idea is an individual will enter a value each week, updating that value. I intend to hide column D.
