I'm using Excel 2003 and recently when I open a file, it prompts out a Security Warning message about Marcros which at the end contains 3 choices: Disable Macros, Enable Macros, and More Info. I then click Enable Macros to open the file. Once open, I go to Tools > Marco > Run Marco (Alt+F8). A Macro box prompt out but the Macro list is empty. I try different choice inside the pull down menu "Macros in" but the Macro list is still empty.
Where can I find out the macro which triggers the warning message of Security Warning when opening the file? And how can I delete the macro if found useless.

I have an excel add-in which is a ribbon which houses a great deal of financial tools that I use on a regular basis so I don't have to hunt around excel for things I use regularly. The add-in has always loaded automatically whenever I opened excel - whether I opened excel by creating a new blank document or by double clicking a previously existing file.
Starting a few days ago though, the add-in only opens when opening excel by creating a new blank file. I can't think of anything that changed recently. Using Excel 2007.
Even when opening a file by double clicking, Excel still says the add-in is active (in excel options).

I need to combine AHK and Excel, and in this I came up with the solution to save my parameters in a file, and let the workbook autoload it when I open the workbook. To do this I need to pass a command line parameter, or working directory to the workbook, as I will be using many different work directories for this to make sense.
This is only a matter of how to execute my workbook so that the path is included (and usable) to the working directory
I have tried
..workbook-name.xlsm /p "workdir"
But it results in a "grey" version of Excel aka. Excel is open, but no workbooks are.
I have also tried
excel.exe workbook-name.xlsm /p "workdir"
But this did not work either, and is not an option as we use both 2007 and 2010 at my workplace where this is intended to be used.
I can do it very easily by using absolute paths in the Excel auto-load, but as I have explained already this is just not an option.

in adapting the previous code to MS Excel 2007. I have found that the "application.filesearch" object no longer exist in 2007! The code goes to a file path and extracts the text and places the data in the specified excel column.
here's the original code as given by Parry:

I have a file that I want to clear certain cells and all option buttons when first opened. I then want the user to be able to save and close the file with the data they have entered. When they go to reopen the file I want the data they entered to still be there. I want the user to get the blank file off the company's server and then save it to there machine when it has been completed and when they go back to this file the information is still entered. I have attached the file.

Compatibility mode, in 2007, is frustrating me like crazy. I thought it was supposed to 'limit' functionality to what was in 2003. But what it seems to be doing is letting me use features that only work in 2007and then tell me when I save that 'hey, these won't work after you save'. Ugh! I can't even pick a highlight color without getting a warning and wondering what it will look like to 2003 users!
Is there a 'theme' or anything that will truly limit the features I use to those available to 2003 users?

When opening the attached file, for some reason, I have to again select the cells from column A in tab "Transactions" and go to Data Validation and select again LIST - only then the data validation from list resumes working. When I close the file after saving and open it again, the data validation does not work - I have to again go to Data Validation and again reselect LIST (making sure, of course, that I do not mess up Source) to have Data Validation list run again.

I am changing the file type association for .XLS to
C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice11excel.exe
I'm using "Change" and "browse" to set it to that exact file. However it still starts version 12 (XL2007) which is dual installed with version 11 (XL2003).
I was successful in creating a shortcut that opens version 11, despite Microsoft's apparent attempt to thwart that; now I need to fix the file association. (Try to directly edit the Office links in your XP Start Menu - how the target is grayed out?

I've created a workbook with code to email it to a reviewer then back to the originator when reviewed (along with other editing functions etc.). The problem - The originator is working in Excel 2003, the reviewer in 2007. The macros work great until the reviewer sends it back. I have not been able to figure out which FileFormat:= ???? to use when I SaveAs prior to emailing as an attachment. My Excel 2003 doesn't recognize the .xlsm file and other formats are eliminated the vba/macro coding

I have a need to open a file from my companies intranet. My current method was to open said file via the method that the recorder gave me. However, I would like ot be able to open a said file without having to start open another workbook.
This is the path:
[url]
So the command is this:
Workbooks.Open [url]
Links are not actual links
So what I need to know. Is how can I open this file without opening a workbook. I haven't been able to use the VB "Open Statement" to open a file and I don't believe that I've been successfull using the Filesystem object either.

Excel 2007 Q: I have a combo box (ActivX) that I want to be able to choose a a date from a range of dates in column A on sheet 'Working Copy'. I want a cell to update with the number/position of the date when the date is chosen i.e. the first date in the range yields 1 the second date yields 2 and so on. I also want the date to be displayed in dd-mmm-yyyy format. I am able to get the cell to give the correct position of the date but the date reverts to five digit number in combo box. I can change the code to return the correct date in the combo box when the date is chosen but then the cell just returns 0.
How can I make it so that the combo box returns the correct date and the cell updates with the position instead of jsut one or the other?
Here is the code I am using
Private Sub ComboBox1_Change()
ComboBox1.Value = Format(ComboBox1.Text, "dd-mmm-yyyy")
End Sub
or
Private Sub ComboBox1_Change()
Sheets("Working Copy").Range("G1").Value = ComboBox1.ListIndex + 1
End Sub

The code snippet below is to import a sheet into my main template. Right now, the code looks for the file in the same directory as the template, if the file is not there, a message box pops up advising the user when OK is pressed (see red lines), the workbook closes. However, in order to make my program more user friendly, I would like to add some more functionality to the code, so I would like to have a windows file browser window pop up where the user can browse for the file and select it in whatever directory it is.
Can this window be created in VBA?
Sub ImportFile()
Dim sourceFile As String
Dim firstDestFile As String
sourceFile = "Client Data Dashboard Template.xlsm"

We have several salespeople who maintain a workbook tracking their workflow. I want to compile the customer account number, account name and deal number for each rep to another workbook. A new sourcebook is started each week. This code is in the target book
'Option Explicit
Public sourcebook As Object 'the workflow workbook
Sub GETDATA()
Dim wsc As Double 'the number of pages in the workflow
Dim col As Long 'the column in this workbook for returning values
Dim IntEndRow As Double 'the end row in this book
Dim SrcEndRow As Double 'the end row in workflow
Dim findval 'the column workflow where the sourcedata is found
My code allows the user to select a workbook and then loops through each sheet in that book searching for the column which has the info I need, this changes on each sheet as the reps each deal with different types of customer as so take different details. I solved this by having column headers in the target book and searching for them in the sourcebook.
This code works when I step through it but falls over at the "Set sourcebook" line when I run it where it returns a breakpoint error.

I've attached my .xlsx file for easier understanding.
What I want to do is segment out a contact list by "market area" and "department" and pull the corresponding data with those labels from the Contact List tab into the main tab when validated by the dropdowns.
1.) The Market Area dropdown represents different offices.
2.) The Department dropdown represents departments within each office.
What I want the user to be able to do is to select the 2 dropdowns at the top and view an entire listing of the roster of those departments based on how they are labeled on the Contact List tab. I'm still a relative newbie to vlookup/hlookup so I've tried using them and encountered issues with it returning more than one value or being difficult to fill down the next series of values, etc. I simply want it to return the entire set of employees that fit the identifying dropdowns.

In the "Pivot Table Field List" I have the option to "Choose fields to add to report". I have a large number of fields that I want to choose and "Add to Values" - so it is tedious to select each item individually.My question: Is there any possible way select multiple fields at the same time? e.g.
a "select all" option, orhighlighting a range of the available fields (either by dragging or holding the shift key)I've looked / tried above with no luck.
Any Excel Add-Ins out there that might address this? I'm fearing not since my searches have come up empty.

I would like to be able to automatically minimize the Excel 2007 ribbon on opening a particular workbook. My preference is to be able to apply that minimization to certain worksheets only, but if that's not possible then minimizing the ribbons on all sheets in the workbook will be ok.
Will I also need a BeforeClose code as well to reinstate the ribbon so that it is visible when opening subsequent workbooks?

I have an Excel 2007 workbook which has five sheets in. I just wondered whether it is possible to hide all five of them when the workbook is first opened. Also I would like the user to be asked for a password when they wish to unhide a sheet, with the password being different for each of the sheets.
Is there also a way to do this which won't be affected by Excel disabling all Macros when the application initially opens.

Do you want to use this version of the name? To use the name as defined in the destination sheet, click yes. To rename the range referred to in the formula or worksheet, click no, and enter a new name in the Name Conflict dialog box.”

I've been putting together an automated spreadsheet that has external data sources to SQL. I have been having some strange problems with it between versions of Excel. Unfortunately, the company's standard is 2003 but quite a lot of the company use 2007. I have been developing this report on 2007, the server that runs the automated version of the spreadsheet runs 2003 (and cannot be upgraded beyond 2003 as it is running Server 2000!).
The template opens fine on my 2007 machine and all development work has been run on my machine including the downloading of data. The VBA script runs something like
refresh datasources ........
