I would like to be able to automatically minimize the Excel 2007 ribbon on opening a particular workbook. My preference is to be able to apply that minimization to certain worksheets only, but if that's not possible then minimizing the ribbons on all sheets in the workbook will be ok.
Will I also need a BeforeClose code as well to reinstate the ribbon so that it is visible when opening subsequent workbooks?
Is there some code I can put in the Workbook Open section that will minimize the ribbon so give the users more sheet space?

Once I got the bugs worked out on the practice book I pasted the code into the actual spreadsheet I want to use. The problem is that whenever I run one of the macros it opens the practice book that I was using when I wrote the code. There should be no need for this and I can't figure out why that's happening. The code doesn't mention any workbook by name so I don't know why it would want to open the practice book.

To make it user friendly I would like, if possible, to save it so that when opening the file, the two sheets open side by side without the user having to open the new window and juggle with window sizes etc.
I have a problem, where every time I close or open any workbook, Excel prompts me to "Enable or Disable Macros" in one particular workbook, wether I have tried to open it or not. In the said workbook, I have a macro that automatically updates a pivot table upon selecting the worksheet where the pivot table resides.

There is something in the code that calls UpdateIt any time a workbook is opened, closed or selected.
I need to combine AHK and Excel, and in this I came up with the solution to save my parameters in a file, and let the workbook autoload it when I open the workbook. To do this I need to pass a command line parameter, or working directory to the workbook, as I will be using many different work directories for this to make sense.
This is only a matter of how to execute my workbook so that the path is included (and usable) to the working directory
I have tried
..workbook-name.xlsm /p "workdir"
But it results in a "grey" version of Excel aka. Excel is open, but no workbooks are.
I have also tried
excel.exe workbook-name.xlsm /p "workdir"
But this did not work either, and is not an option as we use both 2007 and 2010 at my workplace where this is intended to be used.
I can do it very easily by using absolute paths in the Excel auto-load, but as I have explained already this is just not an option.

I'm developing a workbook containing 121 sheets. Sheet 1 is effectively an index, and uses 120 form control checkboxes to unhide and display the selected sheets individually.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIn a program that I'm intimately familiar with (Excel) I seem to find it annoying. ...or at least in my limited usage thus far it's been that way. Takes up a lot of screen real estate and seems to be a bit of a cluttered jumbled mess of text and graphics.
For programs I use less frequently (Publisher) it seems to be helpful. I can sorta right-click my way through lots of things and get stuff done. That's kinda nice.
For a program I use moderately (Word) it's sort of a toss-up. I can't find stuff easily, but once I figure it out, it seems like it's a more efficient design.
I imported an Excel spreadsheet from a computer running an older version of Excel to my computer with Excel 2007. I opened up the specially designed add-ins tab and started a new worksheet which I then saved. When the programme was closed and re-opened, the add-ins tab was missing so I could not continue working on my new file.
Is this a compatibility issue between the versions of Excel (yet everything worked fine when freshly opened)? Following the help instructions I could not recover the bespoke add-in tab.
how I get this back each time I open the file? It is important I get the bespoke add-ins as they are designed to input runners taking part in a race and working out the results afterwards in various categories.
Is there a way to minimize Excel when a userform is launched, so just the userform is showing? I've tried using "Application.WindowState = xlMinimized" in the UserForm initialization procedure, but it minimizes both the workbook/application and the UserForm. I can click on the Excel window on the taskbar and just the UserForm will display--which is the goal--but I'm hoping there's a way to do it automatically without needing to click the taskbar icon after it's minimized.

Withen workbook activate or deactivate i am using HandleMenu = true .... or false to show and remove the added ribbon. I used vlookup formula in generating the codes of the countries pasted in column C, they are being looked-up in sheet2 in column C and D as well. I already have 100000+ rows in sheet 2 under column C and D that's why the file is now heavy. I would like to change the enable state of the checkboxes while the user is interacting with the spreadsheet.

How can I change the name of toggle button to "Disbale Download" after clicking on the toggle button? I am trying to find the answer on WROX Excel 200 VBA but I am lost.
I've been trying to research how to do this for a while now and still can't figure it out. My impression is that this is fairly straightforward in Excel 2010 since the menus and ribbons are easily customizable but not so in Excel 2007.
So far I can get macro shown as a button in the Quick Access Toolbar. But the issue is that I can't organize them or customize the icons.
Is there an accepted practice for this?

I tried going to Excel Options>Customize>Reset to reset any customizations to the quick access toolbar as this was recommended by something else I found online. This did not fix the problem.
I can find the control in the Immediate window but it just isn't showing in the add-ins tab. if I can find and repair that XML file perhaps?
I have a need to open a file from my companies intranet. My current method was to open said file via the method that the recorder gave me. However, I would like ot be able to open a said file without having to start open another workbook.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI ran a simple macro that I created in my workbook, got a run-time error, clicked debug, clicked reset to stop the macro running, and now all of the icons in my workbook are greyed out. I can select cells, change worksheets, enter information in cells etc....just I can't save the workbook, or select any of the icons on my ribbon / in the office menu. Would really like to avoid terminating the application as I made a number of changes that I didn't save (doh doh doh).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using the below code (i have combined different bits of code which i found on these forums) to open a new workbook, copy all the data in it and paste it into Sheet2 in the active workbook . Also, i want the data to be pasted on the next empty row as there is already data in Sheet2. The data that is being copied and pasted has the same format and it is going to be repeated many times.
The problem i am having is that it is not offsetting the data to the next empty row - i think it is a simple change but i can't seem to get there :s

The reason for this is that I have a variable start month and then move out for a set period and this is a very easy way of doing this. My only problem is that you have to have the Analysis ToolPak add-in selected, so when you send to other people, it doesn't work. I have use a bit of code to turn this on, but if the disable macros is selected than this doesn't work.
