In the attached file, I have a code to open several files which have the same format, sheet name. The copy and paste the contents to the attached file.
It’s ok to open the first file. But it got problem to open the remaining file. The warning says it can not find the file name even the file exits.
I need to open an excel file based on a date mentioned in the file name, but minus 1 day. The file name is composed with Statistics_date_time.xls
Example: statistics_20140423_142754.xls
Once I need to open the file (only in the mornings), it has to be the one from the previous day to see the yesterdays performance. How can I create a macro that will look at the date in the file and take the one from yesterday?
This will be a part of a macro I'm making. The rest of the macro will just format the file and combine a few ones from different departments.
I have a read only excel file which I want to interrogate in another report.
I'm writing some code to open the file but I'm not sure how to get past the password/read-only prompt when opening the file.
My code is:
Workbooks.Open Filename:= "C:Sales2006.xls"
I assume it's possible to write some code to get past the prompt. I have checked the help files which do seem to indicate it's possible to specify a read only property but it doesn't say how.
I'm trying to write a macro that will bring up the "File Open" dialog box, and allow the user to navigate to the directory where the file is located. It won't be the same file every time, and the files will likely have different names.
I need a code which will open up a previous days file. I have the code to pick the correct file but I am stuck because the folders are multiple levels down to year then month.
Eg. Folder Name > YYYY > Month
So i need to have a code which can look in to the relevant folder based on the current date and then be able to open the file i need.
I.e. today is 29May so i need the code to open the 2014>May folder.
For 1st day of month I would need it to open last months folder I.e. 01June Open May folder
I need a code to open a file automatically based on file name, for example if the active file name is "trial", then it need to open another file named "trial1" based on which the macro will run, because I have two set of files and I want to compere daily with two users. for example the file names in Set a- iron, cement, stone, sand where as the set b-iron1, cement1, stone1, sand1
I am using the following code to open an existing file whose name is in cell A1. I want to modify the code so that if the spreadsheet does not exist, a template (Costing.xlt), in the same director, is opened and then saved with the name in cell A1.
I need to create a drop down menu where the contents are based on a separate table that has been filtered dependent on a choice made in the initial table.
In Sheet "Bookings" I have a list of lesson times for a riding school.
One of the columns is labelled "Customer experience" and contains either "Advanced","Intermediate" or "Novice"
A second column is designed to assign the name of the horse used by that rider during the lesson.
Horse details can be found a second sheet called Horses.
The horses are rated "Advanced" can only be ridden by Advanced Customers, whilst Intermediate ones can be ridden by both "Intermediate" and "Advanced" customer. Novice horses can be ridden by anyone.
Ideally I would like to be able to include a drop down in the Bookings table that contains the name of available horses.
The code below opens a window which allows the user to select a file to open. Apparently, it starts in the directory of the file containing the macro. How would I modify this to open in "M:Archived PO ResponsesProcessed"?
I want to create a Macro to open a file based on the data of a particular cell to update the data for macro file from that file.
For example I have 3files named Dept1, Dept2, Dept3 and I have one more file named Cost Sheet which contained macro and based on the cell D2 of my macro file I need to open the particular file i.e Dept1, Dept2 or Dept3 and the updated procedure and cell ranges are same for all file
I have the current code that opens our raw data file and copys it into my workbook. However it now turns out the file is saved everyday as a new file with todays date on the end. Here is my current code:
I would like to run a macro that is going to open a file (Test.xls) Simple so far.... However, this file is 1. stored every month in a different folder (eg: 200709,200710, etc..) and the file is named according to the month (eg: Test09.xls, Test10.xls, etc...) In my excel book, I did created two cells which I already use to save a document according to those cells. One cell with Acct Period (200710) and another one with the month (10). I have tried the following formula with no success:
Im trying to make a formula that lets you type in your current level, and then calculates how much XP you have remaning untill you reach the max level.
The way the forumla would need to work would be something like this:
(E10) Enter Current Level: (F10) 37 (which is my current level) F11 - would then add cells from C37 to C70 (calculating the total amount of XP required) and then display in (F11)
Being able to say if, then is far to cpmplicated for me in excel. I'm just trying to make this for a bit of fun and am sure one of you talented people can easily do this.
I managed to create some code that will connect to a workbook and take the data from there.
It is kind of SQL mixed with VBA. I just got this by finding it in google (I don't have the link handy now).
What the file does, is it will take 2 columns from a workbook called "Test.xls" and then take out 2 columns "Name" and "ID".
The only thing is, this is only a test and not the actual files I need to open. the files are always saved on the same folder, but the name is the day of the export of it. So when I export a file today, it will get 2014.09.10.xls. The sheet (only 1) will also get that name.
How could I change the below code that it will take that file based on today's date and read from the sheet with today's data?
VB: Sub sbADO() Dim sSQLQry As String Dim ReturnArray Dim Conn As New ADODB.Connection Dim mrs As New ADODB.Recordset Dim DBPath As String, sconnect As String 'DBPath = ThisWorkbook.FullName
I have a tool file which contains Excel VBA codes. When I click button it asks to select a file. I want that anytime I click the button the dialogue box should open in the folder containg the tool.,
I'm on excel 2010 and I have a small group excel files I open everyday. Most of the files are static in name and location. I've got a macro created to open those files, which works fine with workbooks.open and the file path.
There are two report files I want to incorporate into my macro of workbooks to open. The files are created weekly and the files names have the following format: "Report Name (YYYY-MM-DD).xlsm". I don't want to use the file's last modified date because older files may get edited after the more recent ones are created. The files are also not always created on the same day, so the solution needs to be flexible enough to not refer to a specific day of the week or anything.
Macro open an excel file based on the latest date found in filename.
I use excel 2002 but some of my office are on 97, i want to add a small workbook open event code which works for me but debugs for the others?? The code is basically, go to a tab, on that tab and that range sort..
I have the following code written but I'm wondering if it's possible to modify this to change the red line to update to the path that the workbook is saved in? Meaning that User1Folder1 would change but [Workbook1.xlsm]Sheet1'E1 would always be the same.
I want to create a macro that will “open the look in list” and stop so I can pick a file to open. I’ve tried to use “record a macro” and “ctrl-o”, but the record a macro won’t stop until I pick a file or cancel the file list. I also tried to use “o” in the short cut key box
I have two workbooks. One is a no-nonsense form interface that my bosses will use to enter safety information. I'll call this workbook "Form". This file is stored locally on each of their computers. The other workbook is stored on a common drive. I'll call it "Master".
When my bosses fill out the Form and click "Submit", the Master file is opened, and certain cells are populated based on information entered in the Form. This is the code I am using to make this happen:
Dim myname As String myname = Application. GetOpenFilename
I use it to attempt to open first a QuickBooks file and then an excel workbook. The Quickbooks file opens fine. The Excel workbook never appears to open but I do get the full file pathname to my excel workbook returned which I then parse off to get just the workbook name.
Why would it behave this way? I open both these files manually all the time.
Also, I'm trying to use a filter as follows:
myname = Application.GetOpenFilename("*.QBW")
I get a compile error saying that I'm calling the function wrong.
I am trying to open a website, then for excel to download the csv file, then for it to save it in a specific folder under a specific name and file format (excel).
I am successful at opening the website with the following code, but how to do the rest.
Sub Searchez() Dim IE As Object Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") IE.Navigate "http://quote.morningstar.ca/Quicktakes/stock/keyratios.aspx?t=clwr®ion=USA&culture=en-CA&ops=clear" 'load web page google.com IE.Visible = True While IE.Busy DoEvents Wend
'IE.Navigate2 "javascript:SRT_keystuts.exportcsv()" 'this is the name of the download link as from when i hover my pointer over download link. End Sub
