Excel 2010 :: Auto-populating Calendar Based On Conditions From Data Table On Another Sheet?

Apr 26, 2014

I'm trying to auto populate a calender style sheet in Excel 2010 based on data from a Work Schedule sheet. The work schedule sheet contains a list of jobs, with each row representing a different job. There is a column for the start date (e.g. 25/04/14) and a column for the end date (e.g. 26/04/14). There are other columns which select resources such as people and vehicles. Each resource may appear on any one of several columns for each row, e.g. Site Operative 1, Site Operative 2 etc.

On the calendar sheet, in which one cell represents one day (e.g. 25/04/14), all the dates are shown along the top going right and all the resources are shown on the left going down.

On the calender sheet, in every cell I want a formula that will look at the Work Schedule sheet and see if that particular resource is being used on that particular date. If it does, the cell can display information from another cell such as the job number or job name to which the resource is assigned; if it doesn't, the resource isn't being used so it can display "Free" or "Available".

Auto-populating A Table Based On Ranked Values?

Jan 21, 2014

I am looking to create a table with ranked projects from a different tab that is able to pull data from the same tab and change based on value updates. It is difficult to explain, so I have attached the file below.

What I am looking to do is pull the ranked projects from tab #7 - Scoring to tab #5 - Final list. Each project has a unique ID#, but a lot of the columns I need populated are not unique. I tried using a combination of arrays, but it always returned a #value into the cells.

P.s: In tab #5 - Data sheet, the formulas in I5 and P5 work, but are pretty ridiculous, and I'm pretty sure there must be an easier way. I was looking up values from the 8-budget tab to try and determine which group column H values were from. The only complication I was having was that a project can be allocated to either a functional unit, or group so I need to have the "group" total as independent, not just as a sum of the functional unit totals. Like I said, these formulas work,

Populating One Sheet Based On Values Of Another

I would like there to be no spaces between the contacts in Sheet 2. I'd also need all of the data pertaining to each positive contact (so not just their name, but all of the data in the row that relates to the contact).

Attached is a draft of what I am looking to do.

Basically this would allow us to enter employee variances from several employees on one sheet and get a detailed break down of their history on another sheet.

Auto Populating Columns In One Sheet From Another Based On Criteria

Jul 28, 2009

I've been trying for some time now to figure out how to have one sheet automatically fill in another based on a larger data sheet. I'm trying to find a way to take a monthly calendar which contains a row for each employee and column for each day and use that to create smaller lists on another sheet. Basically if someone puts in for a day off, or has a medical appointment etc, that person has a coded single letter for that day for tracking and planning purposes. I want to have a second sheet that references those codes and makes individual lists (the following people are on vacation, these people have a medical appointment etc.)

Filter Table On Separate Sheet

Oct 7, 2010

I've got an excel worksheet that contains a list of buildings and their associated control valves for water supply (subset of table attached).

I'd like the user to be able to search by building name to display its associated valves and control information. I realize I could use the list function on the worksheet, but would prefer to set it up as front page to the workbook where data is displayed in a nicer format.

I guess my question is if there any way I can set up another worksheet with a drop down box that allows the user to select a building or type in the building name and have its corresponding data display?

2) Each Group data should be copied next to personal data.
3) The group's name is mentioned at the top of the datasheet.

Trying To Import Specific Data From A Separate Sheet To Add To An Existing Table

Apr 25, 2006

I'm trying to set up a macro which will import data from one worksheet to a master sheet. I need it to copy the information into specific columns but not overwrite any existing information which is already in the Master Sheet, but I don't even know where to begin.

Just so you're clear on exactly what it is I'm trying to do... I have a Master Sheet which lists all of our suppliers prices, margins etc etc... However, when we use a new supplier we send them a greatly condensed version of the Master Sheet - We call it the Supplier Sheet (no big surprises there)!

When the supplier sends it back to me I have to type it all out manually which is kinda time consuming. I'd really like to set up a "push button" system which allows me to simply drag the Supplier Sheet into the workbook, add the info into the Master Sheet, then be able to delete the now useless Supplier Sheet.

(I have attached a test copy of the file - all of the columns in blue are the ones which need the data adding to).

Auto-populating Cells On Separate Sheets?

Jan 9, 2014

I have two spreadsheets, one is a Log Sheet for invoices that we have been printing out and filling in my hand throughout the day as our field technicians complete their work. The second spreadsheet has a sheet for each technician where we manually input the technician's invoice numbers and payroll for each job completed on that day.

What I'd like is a way to combine these spreadsheets so that instead of printing and filling in the first sheet by hand, I could input the invoice data and have it automatically populate the cells for the appropriate technician.

This is the running log we keep throughout the day:

2rp76ky.png

Then at the end of the day, we painstakingly transcribe the data for invoice number and payroll onto this sheet for each technician:

What I want is for Excel to automatically fill in each technician's payroll log with invoice number and payroll time as we fill in the running log throughout the day, is this a doable thing?

VBA Data Entry Form - Populating Separate Book

Sep 30, 2009

I have built a data entry form (Input tab) and have code populating a table (Table tab). Currently both are in the same book, but I would like to house them in separately.

What is the proper VBA syntax for this? Will both books need to be open in order to populate the table?

The 'real' data is hosted on sharepoint and is getting darn big. The result is problems opening the doc and looong save times. My thought was to have the secretaries doing data entry open a single sheet (Input Form) which will then populate the data in another sheet. I'm dreaming, aren't I...

I know Access would solve everything, but for cost reasons I am stuck with Excel.

Score Ranking Table Sorting

Jan 6, 2009

So, I have a table of scores from players for a category I have. It looks like this:

Place-------------Name-------------Country-------------Score
1st---------------Jim----------------USA--------------------376
2nd--------------Michael-----------Germany-------------364
2nd--------------Tim---------------USA-----------------364
4th---------------John--------------Norway-------------355

if one of the guys, for example, John were to improve his score to a 369, I'd change the score in Excel, then use the sort feature to put him above Michael and Tim. Only problem is, it would say his place is still 4th place, and it doesn't change to 2nd place.

I want it so the "Place" column automatically changes to the correct rank based on the score the person has. So if I changed John's 355 score to 369 and hit sort by A-Z, Excel would automatically change the "Place" he's in appropriately so it would look like this:

Place-------------Name-------------Country-------------Score
1st---------------Jim----------------USA--------------------376
2nd--------------John--------------Norway--------------369
3rd---------------Michael-----------Germany-------------364
3rd--------------Tim----------------USA-----------------364

Update Table On Another Sheet With Information On ACTIVE SHEET Based On Column Search?

May 14, 2014

What I have is a sheet that is copied periodically from some source sheet, and on this sheet is a table. This sheet is called "Onsite Checklist Template" and it's table is titled "Checklist". I also have another sheet called "Loggers and Initial Notes" which has a tabled titled "Record", and then finally a title sheet call "Proj Details".

To clear this intro up - The sheets, in their order, is: "Proj Details", "Loggers and Initial Notes", "Onsite Checklist Template". The tables: "Record" on "Loggers..." and "Checklist" on "Onsite..."

When the user wants to make a new site visit, he/she fills in the requested date and then selects a button on "Proj...". When this button is selected, it copies the table data on "Record" and puts it on "Checklist", then inserts a new worksheet tab, always in the 3rd position (the title is based on the site visit date in which the user entered), which is a copy of "Onsite...". Now we have another sheet with a table called "Checklist1", and upon another new site visit, there will be another worksheet with "Checklist2", and so on.

On the "Onsite..." worksheet, there is a button on it which also gets copied with the worksheet so that every new worksheet has this copied "Checklist ???" and this button. I'm looking for a macro that, when the button is selected, will bounce the active sheet's table "Checklist ???" off of "Record" and make changes as needed.

"Checklist ???" data range is B11:M20 (the header is on row 10); "Record" data range is B29:Q78 (the header is on row 28); Column headers are titled the same, just that "Record" has 4 extra columns, 3 in the middle and 1 on the end. "Checklist ???" columns 1-12 to "Record" columns 1-7, 10-12, 14-15. The search criteria is the 4th column in both tables ("Trk #").

I need the macro to do the following:If it finds a match, then update "Record" as needed with data from "Checklist ???", changing whatever cell is different in the row that contains the matching "Trk #", so long as the cell on "Checklist ???" is populated (i.e, if a cell on the target row of "Record" has a value, but it's blank on "Checklist ???", then "Record" wins; if it's blank on "Record", but populated on "Checklist ???", the Checklist wins. If both populated but different, then Checklist wins.If a "Trk #" exists on "Checklist ???" but is not on "Record" then add the line to "Record" (the 1st empty row, table size remains)I see no need for any "delete" at this time.

My concerns: The last column on record (column #16) is the filtering column for the worksheet copy event and needs to be left alone (it's formulated to produce a "Yes" or "No")I would like the ability to adjust table sizes if needed without modifying the macroThe table rows on "Checklist ???" will not be changed, deleted, or altered in any way by the macro.

Populating One Table With Data From Another In Different Tab

Dec 19, 2007

I am trying to link one table 1 with another table 2, and these are in different tabs.

In first table (1) I have to do some calculations, and in the second table (2) I have contacts (name, fax and contact name).

So I want from first table once I write the name of Trade (which I did with data validation to pick only the trades that are in table 2 from A1 to A50) to populate table 1 - columns B with Contact Name and Column C with Fax # and all these data should come from table 2.

I tried with Vlookup but the problem is that I can fill only column B and I need to fill column B and C in the same time?

Is this possible in Excel or the only way is to go to MS Access?

Self-Populating Data Table

Nov 3, 2013

Ok so I have made a self populating Data Table to show me which employee is on what shift that updates daily from our roster.

This works and it's brilliant, however I want to steam line my finished product further, but haven't been able to find an easy solution.

I have several employees per position and my data table currently self populates so that every employee has their own line. I want to populate it so that all employees with the same position all apear in 1 row across the columns under their current shift.

So this is what my end result currently looks like

Table 1POSITION
SHIFT 1
SHIFT 2
SHIFT 3

POSITION 1
EMPLOYEE 1

POSITION 1
EMPLOYEE 5

[Code] ......

This is how I want it to look.

Table 2POSITION
SHIFT 1
SHIFT 2
SHIFT 3

POSITION 1
EMPLOYEE 1
EMPLOYEE 5
EMPLOYEE 8

[Code] ......

We have upto 250 employees and upto 50 positions so you can understand why I need to stream line the table.

I can not change the roster as it is our orginal data as requires to be set up as it is. When adding a new employee into the roster I must enter them into there designated crew. "inserting a row midway down the original data".

If I use the CONCATENATE formula and add a new employee into the roster "half way down the original data" then it throws out what the CONCATENATE formula is looking up. It looks up the same cell but the names have all moved down by a cell therefore the populated information is wrong.

I am hoping to make my end result look like Table 2 even if it means adding another spread sheet in somewhere between the roster and the end product.

Realisticly I want a Pivot table that produces names not a tally of employees per shift.

Auto-Populating Multiple Values Based On Two Criteria Based In Comboboxes

Aug 7, 2013

I'd like the three fields to the right to auto-populate table-based values depending on the chosen criteria from BOTH fields (by store and month/date). I've attached a sample of what I've got so far. I've only provided three tables for this example, and I have a table with the same column/row titles for each metric and I have three different metrics I'd like to auto populate: COGs, Sales, and GM% or in the example, metric 1, metric 2, metric 3. No pattern in the table values, just wanted to populate the fields quickly. All fields are organized by store/month-date and I've set up a link to my combo boxes on a calculations tab.
