Trying To Import Specific Data From A Separate Sheet To Add To An Existing Table
Apr 25, 2006
I'm trying to set up a macro which will import data from one worksheet to a master sheet. I need it to copy the information into specific columns but not overwrite any existing information which is already in the Master Sheet, but I don't even know where to begin.
Just so you're clear on exactly what it is I'm trying to do... I have a Master Sheet which lists all of our suppliers prices, margins etc etc... However, when we use a new supplier we send them a greatly condensed version of the Master Sheet - We call it the Supplier Sheet (no big surprises there)!
When the supplier sends it back to me I have to type it all out manually which is kinda time consuming. I'd really like to set up a "push button" system which allows me to simply drag the Supplier Sheet into the workbook, add the info into the Master Sheet, then be able to delete the now useless Supplier Sheet.
(I have attached a test copy of the file - all of the columns in blue are the ones which need the data adding to).
I have a folder with multiple text files. I want to import one of these files to a sheet called data in an existing Excel file. The excel file has references to this data sheet on other sheets which I want to keep. I want to save this excel file with the name the text file has and repeat this for all the text files in the folder.
I found a macro a while back which does the job nicely of importing and saving the Excel file, however all the data in the other sheets gets lost once it is saved. How to keep the data?
Code:
Sub tgr() Const txtFldrPath As String = "FOLDER WITH TEXT FILES" 'Change to folder path containing text files Const xlsFldrPath As String = "FOLDER FOR EXCEL FILES" 'Change to folder path excel files will be saved to Dim CurrentFile As String: CurrentFile = Dir(txtFldrPath & "" & "*.txt") Dim strLine() As String Dim LineIndex As Long
Each day I copy paste data onto a sheet (below the prior days copy paste). What's a simple code to automate this? I want to keep all prior day data and just paste into the first blank row
i have soccer table 1 sheet is "teams" which is the table of the league. 1 sheet is "games" which is the table of games of the league the last sheet called "import by date". in the end of every game day i sent email with the results of current day. for now im copy and pate all results and its not that easy and convenient. i want to make some formula that when i click in import data sheet the date its shows me all the results from that date. i try to do it with pivot table but didnt like how it displayd
I am trying to create a user form that will allow the user to type int values in boxes. Then when the user clicks the submit button the code needs to add the values from each user input box to the existing values in specific cells accross multiple worksheets. Then the form needs to be cleared after the cell values are updated. I can create the form it is the code on the submit button i am lost on. Also it is important that some boxes may be left blank.
If you click the Grey "Qty Form" button on sheet1 the form will open. User data numbers can be entered in the blank boxes. When the submit button is pressed the form needs to add the user entered numbers to the numbers in the corresponding cells in sheet 1 and sheet 2. How to code the submit button to do this properly. Also after the data on the spreadsheet is updated the form needs to be cleared and start the cursor back in the Item 1 box on the form.
I have enable Refresh on Open for my excel pivot table, but user need to click "Enable Automatic Refresh" , only solution i came across is to change the registry setting. Which i dont have access to edit registry(admin disable the access).
Alternate solution i try to use Access macro to automate the process and use Outputto save it as a excel file A. Then use excel file B to update pivot table from excel file A.(as excel A data is always latest) The problem is i will get "....A file name already exist...do you want to overwrite.." prompt. Which defeat the automate process.
Any other solution to enable the automatic refresh on open the excel workbook?
Or Access can overwrite the exist file or save it as another file name with timestamp ?
I'm trying to place a pivot table in an existing sheet in order to have a list of names next to a P&L. I've got several criteria to filter the names, but when I apply the filters to the pivot table, not all the people show up. The weird thing is that the total at the bottom of the pivot table, which is a simple sum of time in a given month per person, calculates the correct number as if all the employees are there.
When I do the same table in a fresh sheet, in the same file, it shows correctly. It's only when I try to put the table in an existing sheet that it abbreviates the list.
I have a variable list. Each column will be 250 digits and numbers of rows will be variable. I want a macro to import a text file from a specific folder into a sheet without split it to columns. So we will work only in column A
Then macro will find B1002 wording in A1. if it is exist, it will copy the next 36 digits after B1002 wording if not then it will search A2 row. The next step will be to search and find another wording "B1001" if it finds it will replace copied 36 digits text. If it can not find B1001 wording it will go to upper row and search B1001 wording here and paste the text. This will go on till row shows #END. This means it reached the end of the list. And then macro will save this file as text file to another folder.
So macro will go to beginning to open other file in the folder and this will go on till last file in the folder.
This is the logic of the macro. Here is the sample of what I want.
I've got an excel worksheet that contains a list of buildings and their associated control valves for water supply (subset of table attached).
I'd like the user to be able to search by building name to display its associated valves and control information. I realize I could use the list function on the worksheet, but would prefer to set it up as front page to the workbook where data is displayed in a nicer format.
I guess my question is if there any way I can set up another worksheet with a drop down box that allows the user to select a building or type in the building name and have its corresponding data display?
I have a data input sheet on a spreadsheet with a pick list where we can select an option, but I need another 'flat file friendly' option to appear on a second sheet where the data will be pulled from. For example
If on the front sheet Flat Roof Insulation is selected, it needs to return FRI into the other sheet, there are 45 options in the list.
I'm looking to populate tables for specific tasks that my site performs and compare their performance against the other top sites in the company. I need to pull the site # and their performance based on the task, ranking them from first to last.
getting data externally from web and also keeping the previous data prior to the refresh.
My external table/data has 10 rows reporting values per day (10 days data table).
I can link the table to my sheet, however what I can not do is to create an offlinek, year to date table in the sheet which captures the rolling 10 days (everytime it is refreshed) without losing the prior days.
Above table changes on a daily basis, only reporting the last ten days.
How can I capture this data on a rolling basis, i.e. in a year to date format, so that everytime I refresh, the internal table gets updated with the new data.
importing some selective data from txt file to excel. Only the following rows I need to pull out from text file into the Excel i.e. Project row, installation row, and two rows immediately below the installation row. This is my logical procedure..
1. Macro look for the rows that contains the word "PROJECT"
2. Open an excel file
3. Pull the row from txt file to this new excel file.
4. Macro look for the rows that contains the word "INSTALLATION"
3. Pull that row with INSTALLATION AS WELL AS Two rows immediately below the INSTALLATION row.
I have a table in which the rows represent cities and the columns represent certain characteristics/ attributes a city can have. In the cells every city & attribute pair receives a "grade"
City EatingBeachSki Barcelona 210 Chamonix 002
I would like to transform this so that every row represents a city & attribute pair and includes its corresponding grade.(I want to do this in order to be able to add more information about city- attribute pairs rather than about cities only)
I am aware that I can use a pivot table to sort out all the pairs with a specific grade. and then I could paste this into a new table. But my data base (number of cities x number of attributes) is huge and I was wondering if there is no automatic process to make this transformation.
I have attached a sheet that has part of a data list, sheet called (Full Data) what i am trying to do is seperate the data into event locations into individual sheets.
The data ref will be column F which is the different event locations.
I thought the best way to try and do this was to create an if/ match formula using the sheet tab names as the if match, with the event locations in column F.
I have added two sheet tabs so you can see that i require the data for (Ain) to be put into the Ain sheet.
The data list in Full Data sheet will be continuously updated so i will need the range to be around 10,000 entries.
I am trying to prepare a Worksheet that has an initial sheet which is a summary of all sheets, information on individuals and totals etc. This summary sheet will be added to over time. I would like it so that when I enter the details of a new individual on the summary sheet a new sheet is opened following a template with the details already filled in for that individual, and for the new sheet to be named with the individual's name. Ideally the new sheet would open automatically once the info has been entered, either that or a button to open the new sheet,
I have a huge list of survey responses which asks people to identify their location and then rate how important 6 facilities in their area is (rating 1 - 4, 4 being most important). So the table has cells are similar to this, except that there are about 5000 responses with about 2500 different locations identified
Location Location Location
[Code].....
I have been able to analyse the average results for the whole dataset by using the following formulas:
=COUNTIF(A2:C4,"camden") Count number of occurrences a location is listed =ROUND(AVERAGE(D2:D4),2) Average response for medical centres =COUNTIF(D2:D4,1) Counts number of times '1' comes up, would repeat '2', '3', and '4' to create a pie graph
But what I would really like to do it be able to count each response for each question by location (for example "Camden"). I've tried both of these but they don't seem to be working.
I have a master spreadsheet that list several columns about employees(name, date, event name, etc.). Then I have an indivdual sheet for each employee. I am trying to import the column information for each employee onto their individual sheet based on their name. It is possible to import the individuals data from the master sheet to the individual sheet based on the employee name?
I have an excel list of My Existing Customers and have recently purchased an excel list of all possible customers in my market that happens to have my existing customers listed in it as well. How can I remove my existing customers out of this purchased list so that I can import it into my Database as Prospects? I'm using Excel 2010. Deleting duplicates doesnt work for this. I want a function that looks at data in one spreadsheetA and if it finds it in the second spreadsheetB, it deletes the row out of SpreadsheetB.
We have a list of around 800 clients containing client id, name and e-mail and i need to add contract number. I can only get the contract number by accessing the admin (password-protected) using a URL that looks like this admin/index.php?client=id.
Problems:
1. if i use the From Web option in excel's data tab, i get the entire table not just the needed cell 2. if i get the data using the above mentioned option, i can only do it from one client at a time
I have a worksheet with 10000 records. For example, entire data in ColA-ColZ. In that, ColA-ColF - Personal Information; ColG-J Group1; ColK-N Group2; ColO-R Group3; ColS-U Group4; ColW-Z Group5. I this case, the data to be copied into another sheet as follows:
1) the personal data should be copied repeatedly. 2) Each Group data should be copied next to personal data. 3) The group's name is mentioned at the top of the datasheet.
I have attached a sample workbook for your kind reference.
how can I import data to another sheet in VB in excel as in my coursework i have 5 drivers in seperate workbooks and I also have a main workbook. from my main workbook I got a drop down box so if i choose a particular driver it will import it into a new sheet.
I'm having difficulty trying to get the second file appended to the bottom of the 1st imported file. I get "run-time error '13' type mismatch". There is no difference between the two files. I'm thinking there is a problem with my range statement in the second file import, but this range works fine in other macros. Here's my code so far:
I am having trouble parsing the numeric data from the following table into separate columns. The five different numbers (ex. 70, 130,10,5,6 in the first row) represent nutritional info about the product. As you can see, the number length varies for the different categories. How to get these 5 numbers into their own columns using LEFT, RIGHT, MID, FIND, etc. functions.
I've already found a TON of threads about this process but nothing that matches specifically what I'm trying to do.
I have a spreadsheet that I'm using to auto fill other tabs with data that only matches specific criteria. Here's what I'm looking to do:
Columns I, J, K, and L may be marked as either Y or N (or blank). I have different sheets that require 1, 2, 3, or 4 of those columns to match Y. For example, on sheet 2 I want to copy the entire row if there's a "Y" match on column I and J. On sheet 3 I want to match "Y" against, I, J, and K. Sheet 4 I need to match only L, etc.
I need the data copied into the existing sheets to start on row 7. I have other data on rows 1-6 that cannot be moved.
