Search For Date In Array And Return In Cell

i wish to have a result of the below.
there are random dates in a column say D6:D17 in the format of (10/02/2014), there could only be one date in this column array or there could be several, like:
1/02/2014
12/04/2014
17/06/2014
5/12/2014
i also have an aray below this in cells D19:D30 With the "A" column showing the months Jan to Dec.
i wish to look the array of D6:D17 and populate the below cells corresponding with the months only, see example below. the reason for this is i wish to then turn the cell green with conditional formatting if there is a date in that month fro the original array.

I have a formula which I took from another post to return a particular value in a specified cell as follows;
=INDEX(A1:E9,M3+MIN(IF(A1:E9=K3,ROW(A1:E9)-3)),N3+MIN(IF(A1:E9=K3,COLUMN(A1:E9)-1)))
However I don't understand what the -3 and -1 does and I believe it is these entries that are causing the error.

I looked for a way to represent my data in a cleaner way than this but couldn't find any tools....a point in the right direction would be helpful. I guess the old plug-in that converted Excel->HTML isn't available?
Column A is a finished product and B-D are the ingredients to make it however values in Column A are also ingredients (sometimes multiple times). I want a formula that searches for values in Column A within the table B1:D5 and returns an array, if possible, of the finished products where Column A was used.
For example, searching for Sugar would return "Flour, Water". Searching for Water would return "Milk, Eggs" (I'd rather not have Milk listed twice but beggars can't be choosers).

I'm looking for a formula to search for a value in the SECOND (instead of first) column of a table array and return a value in the same row from FIRST (instead of the same or another) column in the table array. Formula would be searching for the unique production order number in the column B and return production line id from the column A.
A1 production line_id
B1 poduction_order_number
A2 L1
A3 L2
A4 L1
B2 505212
B3 504234
B4 505663
I was trying vlookup(504234;B2:A4;2;0) to make formula go search from right columns to the left but then excel is switching the search table to A2:B4 and gives #N/D!
One remark-there is no possibility to switch these 2 columns to simplify. I have to leave them as they are.

I want to search a data set and return the maximum value based on 3 criteria using (array) formulas.
Say the data set contained the following:
Row 1: column headings (date, name, data 1, data 2, data 3, etc)
Column A: dates
Column B: names
Columns C through G: data
I want to find the maximum value for a given name, in a certain month, and a nominated data column (e.g. data 2). For example:
Month = June
Name = Geoff
Data column = Data 2
Max value = ????
All of the data in the data columns is numeric.

Assume I have a simple date array

I want Excel to see where today's date falls and return how many work days it is from the date boundaries.For example, today is 2/8, which falls between 1/13/2014 and 2/12/2014
Cell I19
=LOOKUP(TODAY(),B2:Q2)- yields 1/13/2014
=NETWORKDAYS(I19,TODAY()) yields 20 workdays
But I want to also grab the 2/12/2014 date and get the number of workdays from that- all in one equation.If not one equation then 2 but not separated for each border date like I have above

I looking for a macro which will help to open a file with current week number in name.
The problem is week 1 is starting on 30/03/2008 (finacial year) and ends on 28/03/2009.
I've made two dimensional array (week number, weekday) with all the dates from that period.
I have problem with code to search through the array for given key, return index and write it into variables.

I have an array 20 Rows x 42 Columns, which contains a competition draw.
I need to search this array for a unique value and return whatever the time is in the first column on the same row as the value appears, and enter it into column C in the Womens Times sheet.
I also want to return into column D the court number from row 3.
The reason i want this automated is as teams enter / withdraw we may need to drag the games from court to court to fill gaps, so i want the Womens Times sheet to update accordingly.
I have been messing around with index and match, but cannot quite get it to return what i need.
I have attached an example ... on the sheet "Womens Times" in column A there is a list of game numbers ( #1W etc etc) indicating womens game #1 and so on. The main sheet i am using also has a seperate tab for the mens games, hence the designator of W or M on the end of the game number.

I have a list of ID Numbers and Dates. Let's call this "List 1".
I also have a second list "List 2" which also contains a list of ID Numbers and Dates as well as a third column for Rating.
I am trying to extract the Rating for each ID Number from List 2 and display in List 1. The problem is that the Rating can change with time, so List 2 contains several different Date and Rating values for the same ID Number.
What I need to do is lookup the ID Number from List 1 and return from List 2, for that ID Number, the Rating at the closest date prior to the date for that ID Number in List 1. Example below:

Search Column A for a name (using an array if possible). If it finds this name, add a string of text to the AA cell on the same row that it found the name on.
For example,
If in A1 it finds the specified name. It then adds a string of text to AA1.

If I have a 'key' value in a cell in one sheet, i want to use that value to find the cell in another sheet containing the 'key' and return the row number of the cell, if more than one value then I would like to be able to loop through all the rows containing that 'key' value returning the row number of each hit, kind of a programmatic version of vlookup?

I seem to be incapable of creating an array to return all of the values in each of the cells in the first row so that I can populate a combo box. I managed to do it without a problem for copying the sheet names within a workbook but not for this and I want to bang my head against the wall!
Basically, I have the first row of my spreadsheet for which I don't know how many columns contain data so my range is variable.
I then need to take the value of each cell and add it to my combo box (Later I would also like to use this routine to create and append sheets in other workbooks).

Want to look in one column and find the first non-blank numerical value, then have it return a value from another column.
Used to nest multiple IF functions together from different cells, but it seems overly complicated and time consuming. Sometimes I have over 30 cells to check.
For example, if Column A contains weekly sales data by week, entered weekly, and Column E has corresponding comparison data from the previous year. I want to enter a formula to check the first row that has sales data entered and have it match up the comparison value in the other column.

I have several hundred rows of date/times which I need to modify just the date (for example 08/23/2007 11:00 to 08/15/2008 11:00). Each row may have a different time so it is just the date I'm targeting for change.
If I manually use the replace dialog, replacing 08/23/2007 with 08/15/2008 works just fine. However, if in code I attempt to use the Cells.Replace function, it does not locate any data to change.
I have found that if I search for the string 8/23/2007, the dates are located and changed. Only when I attempt to find the fully formatted date 08/23/2007 does the function fail.

So right now I have a spreadsheet that looks something like this:

B
C
D

As you can see, the stock names are slightly different in columns A & C (CORP. vs CORP, CO vs CO., etc). I need a formula in column D that searches column A for the first word in column C, and then retrieves the contents of that cell. I want to do this because I will then use a vlookup in column E to get the ticker for the stock.
Right now I have: =IF(ISERROR(SEARCH(LEFT(C1,FIND(" ",C1)),A:A,1)),A:A,"")
This formula searches column A for EXXON, but does not return the contents of the cell. Instead, it returns the contents of a different cell in the column.

I am trying to return an array of values into 1 cell.
Basically, I have a gigantic list of item names, item numbers, and reuse codes.
I want to populate all the reuse codes by item number in a second sheet:
something like this:
Source sheet
Item item num Reuse code
Widget1 w001 298767
Widget2 w002 4894957
widget3 w003 28276
Widget1 w001 12345
Widget1 w001 678910
What I want this code/formula to do is consolidate the reuse codes based on the item number.

I have this formula but it only gets the 1st Reuse code, I want it to get ALL reuse codes for that item.

I need to lookup to search a range on a different sheet and return the appropriate corresponding cell.
Basically its if a1 is found in the other sheets range a1:a100 then return the corresponding Bcolumn value from the different sheet.

I want a formula that checks the checklist, identifies all the boxes that are unticked and returns them in a single cell. The cell would read:
To increase traffic to the Shampoo campaign (Campaign A), expose it to Google+ and Facebook as these channels generated 578 and 2009 visitors respectively for the Makeup campaign (Campaign B).

I have a phone list and I am trying to add a search box to it that when you type in the Employee name, it will return the value of the cell adjacent to the search result so the extension can show up.
I am a VBA Novice, but I have found plenty of code for the searching aspect of it. I am having trouble figuring out how to have the search occur and then return a different value then what was originally searched for.
Ideally I would like the msg box to show both the employee's full name and extension.

to search for specific text in a cell but not just one word or letter, in fact it could be many. I need to first verify that the exact texts exist in a table and then match the various text instances with corresponding data in that table.
At the moment, this works to search for one type of text and verify it's exsistence in the able and indeed return the corresponding value, but i need it to do it for all verified texts

I have a table with multiple columns in which I want to find a value, then return the value that shows up to the right of it.
For instance:
I want to look for a unique value that exists in a cell somewhere in columns B-F, then I want to return the value of the cell in the next column.
So if I have value XYZ, and it's found in row 12 of Column B, I want to return the value in row 12 of column C.
Any way to do this with an index and match or some other formula?

I am trying to write a formula that will return a statement if a certain month is contained in the text within another cell. Formula is =IF(ISERROR(SEARCH("Dec",Assumptions!B2)),"Ensure Journal is Non Reversing","")
Cell B2 contains a date in the format of Dec 08, so if this date contains Dec, then return "Ensure Journal is Non Reversing", if it doesn't then leave the cell blank.
At the moment it is putting in the first test for every month I select and not changing to blank.

Assume you have a rectangular range. Say A1:M18. There are values in some random cells (any number of cells) within the range. The rest of cells are blank. In cell M19 (ie cell below the bottom right corner of the range), I need a excel function that returns the nearest (ie physical location) non blank cell value. I have searched the internet for weeks. The closest formula is the following (see below) but it is flawed as it returns zero if there are values in rows below the row of the nearest cell with non blank...and also zero if there is value in a column greater than the column of the nearest cell with non blank.
Closest formula so far:
INDEX(A1:M18,LARGE(IF(ISBLANK(A1:M18),"",ROW(A1:M18)),1)-ROW(A1:M18)+1,LARGE(IF(ISBLANK(A1:M18),"",COLUMN(A1:M18)),1)-COLUMN(A1:M18)+1).
And the function should be relative not absolute as the range can be extended..but the location of the formula remain same relative to the array size. (ie. always at below the right bottom cell).
NOTE: Ignore the special case where two non blank cells are the nearest. That will not happen.
