So where country = UK, France or US I want to retrieve the MAX revenue from all months and which month it was in. Eg UK max revenue was in Feb of 25. I am not sure how to apply the max formula with criteria. Is there any way to do this?
I looked for a way to represent my data in a cleaner way than this but couldn't find any tools....a point in the right direction would be helpful. I guess the old plug-in that converted Excel->HTML isn't available?
Column A is a finished product and B-D are the ingredients to make it however values in Column A are also ingredients (sometimes multiple times). I want a formula that searches for values in Column A within the table B1:D5 and returns an array, if possible, of the finished products where Column A was used.
For example, searching for Sugar would return "Flour, Water". Searching for Water would return "Milk, Eggs" (I'd rather not have Milk listed twice but beggars can't be choosers).
I am looking to select two values from a range based upon their relationship to the maximum value. In this specific case I am trying to calculate the Quality factor based upon the frequency response of a transducer. So I need to identify the Maximum impedance and its corresponding frequency. I also need to identify the 3db points either side of the maximum impedance.
The 3db points are found at 2/3rds of the maximum value of the impedance (Impedance Mag in attached spreadsheet). Calculating the first 3db point isn't overly difficult as I just calculate the value for the 3db point and use the MATCH function to find the closest Impedance value and then work out the corresponding frequency from that. I am stumped as to how to calculate the second 3db point (above the Max impedance value). I have attached a spreadsheet with frequency information in column A, the other columns are used to derive the values found in columns M (Impedance Mag) and N.
there are random dates in a column say D6:D17 in the format of (10/02/2014), there could only be one date in this column array or there could be several, like:

i also have an aray below this in cells D19:D30 With the "A" column showing the months Jan to Dec.
i wish to look the array of D6:D17 and populate the below cells corresponding with the months only, see example below. the reason for this is i wish to then turn the cell green with conditional formatting if there is a date in that month fro the original array.
I'm looking for a formula to search for a value in the SECOND (instead of first) column of a table array and return a value in the same row from FIRST (instead of the same or another) column in the table array. Formula would be searching for the unique production order number in the column B and return production line id from the column A.

I was trying vlookup(504234;B2:A4;2;0) to make formula go search from right columns to the left but then excel is switching the search table to A2:B4 and gives #N/D! One remark-there is no possibility to switch these 2 columns to simplify. I have to leave them as they are.
I have to do a search on a dataset (about 3000 entries) and part of the exercise is to look in some project titles if there is a country or other key words included.
I have look on the web and unable to find a formula that works. Basically what I want to do is to have a formula a looks in the column of titles for a list of keywords on another sheet in the same book.
I was hoping that my formula would give me the count number based on the Maximum time (latest time) and the Name field...My result is a 0 instead of 62 (the correct answer).
Search Column A for a name (using an array if possible). If it finds this name, add a string of text to the AA cell on the same row that it found the name on.
For example,
If in A1 it finds the specified name. It then adds a string of text to AA1.
I'm trying to write a formula that will return the sum of multiple cells within a larger matrix, based on a number that is manually inputted into a separate table. As you can see in the top below, I have data that is grouped by both "Zone" and by individual "Stations". The Zones/Stations on the y-axis are "Start" points, while the Zones/Stations on the x-axis are "Finish" points. What I'd like to be able to do is input a Zone ID number into the bottom table (Shown as "1" below) and have the formula either return the greatest sum of "Finish" numbers. In this example, the greatest sum is 12, which is all numbers going from Station 1 and 2 in Zone 1 to Stations 1/2 in Zone 2 (3+2+4+3). In the bottom table, you'll see the "Greatest Finish" as "2", which is Zone 2. And the total from this sum is 12, as described previously. If there is a way to return either the "Total #" or "Greatest Finish" zone.
The actual matrix I am working with is much larger (150x150), and not all zones have the same amount of stations. I'm assuming this might complicate things a bit.
I have an array 20 Rows x 42 Columns, which contains a competition draw.
I need to search this array for a unique value and return whatever the time is in the first column on the same row as the value appears, and enter it into column C in the Womens Times sheet.
I also want to return into column D the court number from row 3.
The reason i want this automated is as teams enter / withdraw we may need to drag the games from court to court to fill gaps, so i want the Womens Times sheet to update accordingly.
I have been messing around with index and match, but cannot quite get it to return what i need.
I have attached an example ... on the sheet "Womens Times" in column A there is a list of game numbers ( #1W etc etc) indicating womens game #1 and so on. The main sheet i am using also has a seperate tab for the mens games, hence the designator of W or M on the end of the game number.
I have a spreadsheet that contains data for a fiscal year broken out by month and quarter. I want the formula to return the data from that month and use whatever the latest quarter is. For example in the data below:
If it has only pulled data only thru Q1 it would return Q1 for Jan-Mar, however once I have Q2 data I would want the formula to return Q2 for the months of Jan-Mar.

I can manage an array formula that returns a value based on a criteria. Simple. But I want to add in an additional couple of criteria. Now I'm stuck....
My sheet looks at a manually entered postcode, finds out what region this is in, and returns a list of postcode I have defined as being in that region. (So the postcode WF1 3JY would return a region of Yorkshire, and list postcodes of WF, BD, L, etc)
I also have a list of engineers, with a column for their home postcode.I want to be able to list all the engineers from my list whose home postcode matches any of the values on the already created list from the postcode and region entered. So far I have this, which finds me all the engineers for just one postcode area.
I'm writing a macro that will pull a set of dates from a worksheet and put them into an array. Then I want to find the max date in the array (most likely using some sort of sorting method).
The code below is how I'm putting the dates into an array. I'm not sure if using the date data type is best. I can't tell how it will sort the information. Is there an easy way to find the maximum of an array of dates?

I have attached two documents. One is called "Zone Destination" which is a template I designed. The other file is called "Schedule5_4" which gets downloaded from a work server once a week that contains all employees and their shifts for the entire week. What I am able to do so far is extracting the first row using index and match but I don't know how to extract any of the rows that follow. an employee might have several rows for one day based on a lunch or if they are working in multiple zones during their shift.
Zone Destination File -- start tab has the template in place that gets copied over when you create a new tab. -- employeeroster tab contains the employee roster that i use to match with the schedule5_4 file. i changed the names and also reduced the amount to make it easier to read. i have over 80 employees but for this example, i only made up a handful.
schedule5_4 File -- this file contains all the data that I need to pull from. The criteria that I am using is by employee and date. I'm matching from the employee roster tab and also the date in cell a1 located in the zone destination file.

I need to lookup for the largest number in B2:D2 (in this case 2.22) and return the corresponding header ("C"). I though it would be simple with hlookup() and max() but i can't make it work.
If I have names in one column and amounts in the next column, how do I determine the maximum of the amounts and return the associated name from the other column?
This is data for an electric car. T= Trip and C=charge.
Column F is the parking time between Trips (T).
For each "T" event in column E, I would like to return the MAX parking time available before the last "T" event for that day (date). I've highlight the last "T" events in red.

Note: For the last "T" event of the day it can just return the actual parking time (shown in green).
What I'm trying to do is get the MAX function to return a value, but that value needs to come before the values reach zero. It's a cubic equation that basically starts, at the beginning of the data range, under 10 then hits zero and ends up near 30 at the end of the data range. The end data range max doesn't matter to me if the data range hits zero along the way. Is there any way to make the MAX function stop at a certain value, or is there another function that could accomplish what I'm trying to do?
I am currently using an array to return the MAX date value. This formula will enter 1/0/00 if the referenced cells are blank. I'd like the furmula to LEAVE THE CELL BLANK if the referenced cells are blank. {=MAX(IF(Bid_Circuits=$A45,Bid_Trim_Completed,""))}
I am writing a VBA function that will search for a value in a column(say column B) in a table. This column can have duplicates. So my search needs to get all the records that match the value (including duplicates) and from these records i need to return only one value among records fetched that has maximum in another column in the same sheet(say column D).
Eg :

So if i give "cs" value to search it must give me 77 as output. I tried to write my own Lookup function but isn't working and getting #value.
Please see attached file which is data for horse races (this is a small example of the data i will be working with). I need to find the largest values from the MIN and MAX column (shaded Grey) range for each race. I want to be able to add a function that will allow me to quickly identify which horse has the largest number in both the MIN & MAX columns example on spreadsheet is highlighted RED. It would be handy if it would inform me if the criteria has been met by highlighting it or by placing some text value in an adjacent cell on my spreadsheet i have used the example "Y".
It would also be beneficial if that race be deleted in its entirity if there are no horses which meet the criteria above or similary if all other selections within that race be deleted if ther is a horse which meets the criteria. If there is a selection within that race i will need to keep the row that includes the heading which is coloured blue on the attachment.
I will be working with 20,000 or more selections at a time so it is important that they can be identified quickly for ease of use.
I have tried the functions i know such as MAX and LARGE but this requires me to do alot of work when you consider the ammount of data i'm required to work with.
I have searched your forums and thought I had found a sufficient answer but could not get the vba to work. So any help is greatly appreciated. I am trying to determine a max value from a list then put that value in a cell. Next I want to determine how many times and on what day that max value occured. From there take the value and concatenate them adding a "," between them I have attached an example. I would like the values placed in cells F1 and H1 (the other is a min value and when it occurred)
In attached example, I have 3 columns of fractions with a final row of sumtotals (taken from elsewhere). I test to see which column has the maximum value in each row and allocate the result with the column's heading. Sometimes, two or more columns have the same max value. In this scenario, I wish to select the column heading that has the largest sumtotal.
