Oct 26, 2007I'm wondering if it is a all possible to have a VBA macro call another program (like a Perl scripts, or a Python script) from within VBA?
I have no idea if this is possible. I know that people often write programs which call other programs, but would have no idea where to get started on this.
If it IS possible, can you tell me if it is is extremely complicated?
I have to have a VBA script read some complicated text files, and parse and extract information from them. Perl is so great at this, and I seem to get a headache trying to do any pattern searching and matching with VBA. If it was instead possible to write a Perl script, which is then run by VBA, that would make my life so much easier... :-)
Send Data From Userform To Worksheet AND Send Userform Fields In Email?
Jul 12, 2014I have used a database template from this site and changed it to suit my needs but I have a bit of a problem with some of the code. I know how to update the worksheet with the relevant userform text fields and in another project I did I have successfully sent userform text fields in the body of an email.
For this project I want to update the worksheet AND send an email at the same time. However, using the two pieces of code together is causing an error that I can't seem to solve (using my very limited vba knowledge!). The code I am working on is below and I have highlighted the line that is getting the error message. C

Macro That Copies Unpredictable Generated Range So Can Paste In Other Programs
Apr 29, 2014I have a macro that copies rows from my DAILY OCCURENCE sheet that have a YES in them to my MANAGER SUMMARY SHEET and G1 is selected which has a hyperlink that opens a new email with the manager's email address and Subject pre-assigned.
I then have to manually go back to the newly generated summary sheet and select the cells and paste them into the email that was just opened.
Is there a way that the generated rows are already copied in memory and all i have to do is CTRL+V into the new email, or even better, the cells are pasted in the email automatically? So basically either the information being copied over stays in memory, or after it is copied into the summary sheet it is copied again. I just dont know how to copy unpredictable ranges generated by macros.

Enable Macro Automatically - Then Send Send Email
Sep 7, 2008I used Scheduled Task to set up my spreadsheet to open daily. I have the code with assistance to pull out the due date items and place them into an email.
I have come across XLSTART/AUTOEXEC/ACTIVATE...ETC...
But cannot figure out the code that will automatically "enabling macro" once Scheduled Task opens the spreadsheet?
Then once the macro runs, the email with the due dates, how can this auto send without user interaction?
(currently I would have to hit send)
I am trying to make the process totally automated to open the spreadsheet at a certain time, send the email with due dates and close the spreadsheet.

Send Keys Doesn't Send Command
May 16, 2007We use proprietary software to connect to an oracle database. The proprietary software has its own login form. I connect to 4 or 5 different databases randomly throughout the day. I wrote a script that I thought would alleviate my login woes but it doesn't work. The login, password, and database info get sent to the form but they all end up on the login line. Instead of the tab character being sent, I get a Beep generated for each line of code that is supposed to send the tab key code. My code is below and is stored in a *.vbs file.

Press Button To Open Form For Data Entry And Then Send Matching Data To Another Sheet
May 5, 2009Now that the calculations are working, with the press of a button, I need to be able to select a range of dates and copy all lines within the range to a seperate sheet with the desired name under the same headings they currently reside under. I have included some modified code that is being used in another spreadsheet that was created for me, but I do not pretent to understand all of it and I no longer work with the creator of the spreadsheet. How do I use a button to open the form for date selections and entering the name of the new sheet, and then use the start button on the form to begin the matching and copying to a new sheet? If there is an easier way I am all for that too.

The first sheet (All Students) has a table / range of student information. There are several other sheets one for each teacher, that would contain the student information from first sheet for that teacher. Teacher name is in one of the columns on the first sheet(All Students). What I'm looking to to do is create a workbook that would contain all Students in first tab/sheet, data will be entered into first sheet by teachers.
When I click on any of the teacher tabs excel should get data from (All Students) tab / sheet and populate teacher sheet with data for that teacher based on teacher column in All Students. Any suggestion on how to create this workbook. I've attached a sample workbook with data. I would like to make sure data refreshes when I click on teacher sheet.

Jun 17, 2006I have a userform that enters data into a hidden sheet, and it works fine so far, but now one of my bosses would like another sheet that contains some lookup data for the form to be updated every time the form is used. I'm thinking I can handle the data in the lookup sheet automatically deleting the older data but I can't figure out how to send the data to two different sheets when the form is completed.

Send Data From UserForm Controls To Specific Cells/Ranges
Aug 30, 2006I have been working on my spreadsheet for sometime now, so far when I run into a code problem I can figure it out using someone eles's post. However, I can't seem to figure this one out. I need to send data from a userform to specific cells on my spreadsheet based upon the users selection in combobox 1, and textbox 1.
Example: User selects customer name from Combobox1, and part number auto loads into textbox1 from the data sheet.
There are then 11 combobox's that can be clicked as the userform is updated. Once the user is finished, I need the answers from each combobox to transfer to the worksheet next to the referenced Combobox1 and textobox1.
I used the code that RoyUk posted to him, but have only been able to get the first combobox to copy to the sheet, the rest stay blank.

All seems to go well and there seems to be a appropriate .dll in c:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedWeb Components111033 by the name of OWCI11.DLL. However when I attempt to add a reference to that file in a VBA project in Excel (it's one that has an old broken reference to 2003 OWC) by browsing to that file it tells me
"Can't add a reference to the specified file"
What have I done wrong? Is what I am attempting, getting 2007 to use OWC, even possible? Note I did not write any of the code for this Excel Add-in so have very little idea about what OWC are for.

Jan 26, 2007I have recently updated to Office 2007. I have about 50 forms with VBA in them (all excel) and I was careful to save them all back to 2003 office files. When one of my users opens the files and uses on of the internal userforms it errors out saying it is missing a reference.

Feb 17, 2007My organisation has ten small offices within a ten mile radius.
Most of the items to order are office supplies, along with order forms, catalogues, brochures and pro-formas.
Each office does not order the same items.
I would like to make a ‘generic’ supplies order in excel.
Column A = ‘in house’ code
Column B = Description
Columns C to G are size, colour, pack size etc.
Column H = quantity held
Column I = quantity required to hold
Column J = amount to re-order.
I would like Excel to calculate
Amount to bring stock to hold - “=I4-h4” (in J4)
If Current Stock is more than Stock to Hold then ‘0’ is in J4, “=IF(H4<I4, I14-H14,0)” (in J4) I think.
If H4 is left blank then J4 to show “0” or ‘Blank’. (experiments have given J4 a figure of 25)
I have tried putting two formulas together, but Excel tells me I have ‘too many arguments’.
Run A Check To See If Call Came In During Office Hours
May 30, 2014I have call data for a client and I want to know what calls came in after hours. I cant seem to get the formulas to work correctly.
It seems to run the weekday/weekend check correctly but the time is not working properly.

P.S. While writing this, I realized that it should be (<=9 OR >=17) or (>=9 AND <=17) but neither of those worked either.

Sep 26, 2008In certain spreadsheets I have noticed a significant deterioration in save times. There may/may not have any formulas or macros on them and most are very small files 20-50kb. I notice that Excel puts a temporary file on the desktop while saving the original. The temp file goes away once the original is saved. While saving, I get the time icon which goes to beachball and it can take up to a minute to save the file. This happens on 2-3 Macs on network. Using 10.5
