Web Query Stay Connected And Get Live Data From A Site?

May 7, 2009

Is there any way to have a web query stay connected and get live data from a site while still being able to use excel at the same time?

Basically the site has information that changes by the second and i need to keep a running record of it, and when it hits the variables needed i want to be able to trigger a set of code.

Web Query - Import Just Specific Tables On Site?

Aug 17, 2013

I have a website (National Lacrosse League - 2013 Regular Season - Standings), that I want to pull information off and automatically into Excel.

I have been using web queries on other websites, and they have worked beautifully, however the tables that I want aren't recognised by the web query wizard (no yellow/black arrows). I can import the whole page through a query, however that's not really practical.

Is there a way I can import just specific tables on this site?? I'd like both the 'east' and 'west' tables.

Excel 2010 :: Formula To Indicate Alphabetical Data Connected To Numeric Data

Jan 8, 2014

I have a question about using conditional formatting in excel (2010); I made a table with the following columns:

"Supplier Name" "Supplier Lead Time" "Internal Lead Time" "Total Lead Time". I made two different scenarios to show different supplier lead times and different internal lead times, and used the minimum function in the "Total Lead Time" column to find the smallest total lead time to select the best supplier.

The last thing I would want to do with this set of data, is plug in a formula that would somehow indicate which supplier corresponds to the shortest total lead time (which supplier has the smallest supplier lead time). I'd like to be able to use a formula that enters the name of the supplier in a designated cell, which I could indicate as the "Preferred Supplier" cell. If this is not possible perhaps there is a way to highlight the supplier's name with conditional formatting?

Logging Live Data

Nov 30, 2008

I'd like to log live update data continuously,i.e. as the data in the cell changes. The problem I'm facing is that the data comes in at uneven intervals-- ranging from 30 to 50 ticks per second. So I can't really use a timer function. I need to use some function which saves the data as the cell value changes. So, for example, if cell A1 gets updated continuously, cell B1 could save the first value of A1 and then cell B2 could save the second value of cell A1-- and so forth.

Import Data From Site Requiring Password?

Oct 19, 2012

import data from a website that requires a login/password (no login page, it pops up in a separate window like when trying to log onto an FTP).

I've got the login/password, and it's a simple call to the page to import it, but each time it asks me to authenticate when connecting (get the "Windows Security" popup asking me to authenticate).

Even when I select "Remember my credentials", it doesn't seem to, and so every time I end up having to manually hit enter to get by it.

Is there any way to pass the login/password information via VBA, or to get the "remember my credentials" to stick?

Multiple Live Feed / Data

Aug 28, 2009

I have set an excel spreadsheet set up to update live data from a URL every 5 minutes. However I am wanting to do try and save a bit of time if possible.

Basically I am monitoring horses bought on a game website. Each horse has the same URL except for the number at the end which goes up in 1 increments. The URL is already set up and when the horse is bought it changes from being blank to having the horses details etc.

At the minute I am able to autofill cells with each uinique URL using fill, then series menu. This is so I dont have to manually enter each URL, as hundreds may be bought each day so it would take too long to do this.

My question is this, am i able to have a automatic series linked to the 'data from web' function in data tab, instead of having to manually adjusting each URL for each individual horse.

INDIRECT FUNCTION - Make Data Stay Permenantly

Dec 9, 2009

I have approx 500 workbooks which contain custoemr details and I need to extract certain info (postcode, name, contact, phone number etc) and place it all on 1 spreadsheet. I was originally going to source data from unopen workbooks, but have realized I only need to do this task once, and I can maintain it from then on...

I have created a spreadsheet (attached) which uses INDIRECT formulas to retrieve the data. When I type in the file name in column A, Columns B to K fill themselves in. What I want to know is:

Once I open say, 10 Workbooks, TYPE the name in manually and all the other cells have filled themselves, I want to somehow KEEP the data there, rather than it return a #REF error when I close the workbooks to open the next batch.

Also, if you look at my workbook, to the far right is a range of data which I use in my INDIRECT formulas. Once I have filled all the cells with the relevant data, I want to be able to Filter my spreadsheet by Date Ascending. BUT I cant seem to do it because it includes my INDIRECT range in the filter and mess's up the formulas then I have tried Locking & protecting workbook, with Autofilter & select cells etc TICKED for users to use, but it still tells me to unlock workbook when I try to filter.

Transfer Data To Separate Tables Based Two Variables (date And Site)

Oct 28, 2009

I have a spreadsheet where raw data is entered ("RAW_DATA") for each month it is collected. There are 7 questions that are tallied and each of those responses are transfered to a separate data table for analysis (7 individual tabs within the spreadsheet). I'm currently manually data entering the values from the raw data tab to the other seven tabs.

I would like to have VBA code that could transfer the data from one month ("RAW_DATA") onto the other 7 tabs based on the date and facility identified in the raw data tab. I have not attempted the VBA since I do not know where to start with searching on two variables.

Adding Submit Buttons To Transfer Data To Live Spreadsheet

Mar 18, 2014

I would like to set up a maintenance register where I would have:

worksheet 1 - a page where staff can choose a location and choose a maintenance issue and hit submit
worksheet 2 - after they have hit submit the detail will appear in designated cells in worksheet 2 (a ledger of maintenance issues). so each submit should send the info to a new line in worksheet 2.

I have a basic knowledge of Excel and have used formulas and functions before but not VBA/Macros. Any step by step through setting up the submit button and macro correctly?

I've tried to do Worksheet("Register").Range("A2").Value = Worksheet("Request").Range("A1") after installing a push button but all I get is errors.

Live Capture Of "Orbits" Race Data

Oct 5, 2006

I have a program running on my computer called Orbits.

What Orbits does is monitor a race track, and via a transponder in each race car, when a race car crosses the start/finish line Orbits will record that infomation.

The orbits program continually feeds data out the port 50000.

I can start hyper-terminal (yes the free one that comes with windows) and create a link the the computer running orbits. I use IP and port (Ex. 10.0.0.1 and port 50000).

As the race is going on I can see the data in hyperterminal: Below is a sample.

$F,9999,"00:00:00","19:52:40","02:09:14","Green "
$F,9999,"00:00:00","19:52:41","02:09:15","Green "
$F,9999,"00:00:00","19:52:42","02:09:16","Green "
$F,9999,"00:00:00","19:52:43","02:09:17","Green "

What I would like to do Is to get this data LIVE into excel, as the race is going on.

I have no idea of to get this data into Excel since It is not saving it as a file.

Check If Connected To Network

I have created an application for users that requires the user be connected to the network. Selective Columns In Connected Workbooks

Mar 20, 2014

I have a workbook with several columns, some of which are for internal company use only.

Sometimes we need to send an updated list to business partners, but they don't need all columns.

Is it possible to make another workbook which takes only specific columns, and excludes the stray info at the bottom of the original workbook? See examples.

Alternatively: Would it be simpler to make an extra sheet in the original workbook, and somehow choose "Safe only this sheet to a new document" whenever someone requests the list?

Calculate A Lot Of Averages Of Non-connected Values

Feb 20, 2008

Situation: I need to calculate a lot of averages of non-connected values. That is, they are separated by several rows (which also contain values). So far, I use the code-sample below (just to illustrate), which is not really elegant. Unfortunately, it seems that this technique comes to its limits when a high number of different non-connected values are combined into one string and get assigned to a formula- range (last line of code), which is where the program stops.

My question is: Is there a nice way to solve this? A way, which is not limited by the amount of data processed? The only way I could think of, would include a UDF, where a sum, sums all values up and then devides by the number of added sums ... but this would be relatively slow, and I have an awful lot of values to be averaged (100 sets * 6 rows * 200 values = 120.000 calculation- steps), as well as STDEV and a Standard Error of Mean (SEM) to calculate. Is there a better alternative?

Const intCells=9 'actually, this is no constant but a variable
Const i=4 'actually, this is no constant, but a nested for- loop-value
Const intLinesInBetween = 12 ' amount of lines, which separate my values
Dim j As Integer 'simple counter, runs through all cells
Dim rngUpperRow As Range 'Range of the upper row = normalized time vector
Dim rngCurrentRowAvg As Range 'current row into which avg formulas are inserted
Dim intCells As Integer ' amount of experiments in range............
