Sum Up Numbers Connected To Repeating Names?

I have an excel assignment that has about 4000 orders for wood. I am suposed to find the company that ordered the most wood and of what kind. I am really at a loss for how to do this and have combed over my book quite afew times trying to figure it out. However it has little if any excel info and nor does the ** that came with it outside of how to install data analysis tools. I figure I need to find a way to get excel to combine the numbers together for orders from the same company but after trying for afew hours I have gotten no where.

I have repeating 7 names in A column.(Like a name group)
Each group names repeating after a blank(empty) row.
I want to write to B column for each repeating names from 1 to 7 as number value.

Got a huge dataset with a list of non-repeating names. For example, among the dataset is about 1,500 names that dont repeat itself in a column. How can I isolate just that list of non-repeating names from that huge dataset?

I have a workbook where Sheet 1 Col A is a list of dates. Sheet 2 Col A is a relatively short list of constantly changing names. I need to put this list of names in a repeating fashion in Sheet 1 Col B. Ideally I would like for Sheet 1 to regenerate Col B each time the roster list is changed.

I have a data set where the row headings repeat a lot. I have 5 headers repeated probably 30-45 times each. Eg. Truck, Car, Van, Tank, House, Car
At the moment I am using the formula...
=INDEX($B$2:$M$45,MATCH($O$2,$A$2:$A$45,0),MATCH(O4,$B$1:$M$1,0))
which will only return the result of the first occurrence of the cell it is looking for (for eg. I am looking for the values in the cells in columns labelled 'Car', is it possible for it to look past the first occurrence in the data set and find all the values?

I have a spreadsheet that lists numbers in a column. They increase 1 number at a time, however the same number is listed 24 times before increasing to the next. Scaled down to 3 times it would look like this: 111, 222, 333, 444, 555, each one of those individual numbers would have their own cell. When I highlight the column and drag down, it starts doing decimals..how do I get it to recognize it? sample.xlsx
I want to drag it down to continue the pattern. Right now, I type a couple of numbers and drag to finish the section.

In my worksheet in column CC in C1:C20 I want Excel to ganerate 20 random numbers between 1 and 80 without repeating the same numbers.
At present I have the following formula entered and it works, but after I click F9 some repeated numbers are generated.
=INT(RAND()*(80-1)+1)
How can I change the formula or replace it?

I have three cells in a column. A1, A2 and A3. There are only 4 possible numbers that these can have in them, 0,1,2,and 3. Here is the catch. None of them can repeat, although they can be in any order. And the column may only have data in the first cell or the first two or all three. Is there a simple macro that will alert me to when a number is repeated? It needs to be a macro rather than a apreadsheet function.

I am trying to do something that is probably impossible, but I figured if anyone could come up with a solution, it would be you folks here at Mr. Excel, so here goes.
I'm trying to set up two columns in Excel 2000; for simplicity sake, let’s just call them Column A and Column B. Each row in Column A will contain a code (a combination of letters and numbers) that represents one of 65 different workstations, and they could repeat multiple times. Each row in Column B will contain a number that represents a specific tool, and there are potentially hundreds of different tool numbers.
What I am trying to accomplish is to have something alert me when any tool number in column B appears alongside more than one workstation code in column A. It would really be nice if something like conditional formatting could be used to change the text to red or something when this happened. I know I can use filtering to accomplish this, but with hundreds of different tool codes, filtering just takes too long.

I am busy with a very large dataset +-20 000 records showing the movement data
and I am having problem with inserting missing data: I have columns titled day hour and position, but multiple records for each as data was initally recorded by second. Data looks like this
Day Hour Position
1 2 Z5
1 2 Z5
1 3 Z5
1 3 Z4
1 16 Z1
12 2 Z3
13 0 Z3
What I need to end up with is a sequential dataset running from day 1 to 388 with hours 1-24 of each day. Positions need to be filled in for all data recorded (see above). The big problem is that movements between positions need to be recorded and accounted for i.e if more than >80 of time was spent at the position Z3 then that is the position for the hour.

I have a set of data in once cell and its strung out. I'm trying to pull the numbers that follow certain words from that data. That's easy enough with the find and mid function for the first one. But after that I have a repeating word (see below) and different numbers that follow it. So I want to pull the second number string after that word, the third and so on.
I've attached an excel file that explains this better.

sorting data I use in a workbook for athletics. I've really chopped down my workbook for upload, In the worksheet "Leaderboard" I can call up stats for different lifts, and it finds (in this case) the top 5 lifts and the names for the kids that have those corresponding lifts.
My problem is that when two or more kids have the same lift, it will only call up the name of the first instance of that lift. You can see this in the "Leaderboard" worksheet, and the name "Adams, Andrew" appears for both lifts of 75. I would appreciate any help on how to correct this, as I've searched the Internet for weeks now looking for a solution. I've tried experimenting with different things as well, all to no avail.

I have created an application for users that requires the user be connected to the network. I wanted to do a check to see if they are connected, and if the user is not connected they would get a message box telling them that they need to be connected to the network, then the workbook would close. Below is the code I have, but when a user is not connected they do not get my messagebox, instead they get the excel error message "excel run-time error '52': bad file name or number", and the debugger line that gets highlighted is in the function DirExists that checks the length of the directory of the file path: Len(Dir(strpath))

I have a workbook with several columns, some of which are for internal company use only.
Sometimes we need to send an updated list to business partners, but they don't need all columns.
Is it possible to make another workbook which takes only specific columns, and excludes the stray info at the bottom of the original workbook? See examples.
Alternatively: Would it be simpler to make an extra sheet in the original workbook, and somehow choose "Safe only this sheet to a new document" whenever someone requests the list?

I have a macro which copy text from a sheet (sheet-1) and paste it into another sheet.
I want sheet-1 to be hidden, or even better, very-hidden, but when I hide sheet-1 the macro run fails. Respons Run-time error '1004'...
Is it a solution around this 'problem' or does sheet-1 always has to be visible ?

Situation: I need to calculate a lot of averages of non-connected values. That is, they are separated by several rows (which also contain values). So far, I use the code-sample below (just to illustrate), which is not really elegant. Unfortunately, it seems that this technique comes to its limits when a high number of different non-connected values are combined into one string and get assigned to a formula- range (last line of code), which is where the program stops.
My question is: Is there a nice way to solve this? A way, which is not limited by the amount of data processed? The only way I could think of, would include a UDF, where a sum, sums all values up and then devides by the number of added sums ... but this would be relatively slow, and I have an awful lot of values to be averaged (100 sets * 6 rows * 200 values = 120.000 calculation- steps), as well as STDEV and a Standard Error of Mean (SEM) to calculate. Is there a better alternative?

I want a boolean function to return whether the PC is connected to the Internet. How to start creating this.
Reason:
I have code that checks an online database and downloads data after the user presses a button.If the host computer is not currently connected to the net, I would like to display a message of my choice instead of trying to run the code.To determine whether to run my message or not, I need a function that will return TRUE/FALSE if the host PC is net connected or not.

The output of my magic spreadsheet, developed to run the local flower show, is a column of names - each of which have won a prize valued in points. I need to determine which person in the list of names has won the most points in total, in order to award a trophy.
Actually, I also need to know how many points each individual has got because - as we all know - points make prizes. And I need to write out one prize voucher for each individual, to the total value of what they won.
Now I have been sorting each column alphabetically, then manually totting up the points, and adding the three totals together. But surely, there must be a way to do this automatically? I don't really want to have to sort the columns at all... just have the answers appear like magic once the data is in the data entry part of the sheet.

Using two columns of data:
Column A with a list of first names sorted by first name, Column B with a different integer value for every cell in Column A. How do I write a formula that sums the values contained in Column B for each unique first name in Column A? The formula needs to identify where first name changes in Column A as there are different numbers of entries in Column A for each first name. (Note: I do not wish to use sub-totals, as I want to copy/paste values back into the results column and use sort to generate a new lookup table)
Have attached an example of the two columns I would like to test. Ideally I would like to see the results in a third adjacent column with the sum displayed only where a new first name appears in first column (the cells would be blank in the third column when the first name is the same as the row above).

I've question in sorting: I've 2 column in one datasheet. one contain value of numbers and the other contain names of employes. i want to sort the name of the emplyes by the values that is on the first column.
Anther question is how to make it dynamically so ill not sorting it every time that the values of the first column is changing.

In Cell A1 I have a name (John Doe). In cell A2 I want the formula which will be a number total. In Cells A4:A20 I have a list of names with John being in several of them. In Cells J4:J20 I have numbers. There is data in between the name and numbers that I don't need.
So, I want A2 to search A4:A20 and everytime it sees John Doe to add the numbers that are 9 cells over (J4:J20). This is basically to show how many mistakes John has made (total). I tried =Sumproduct((A4:A20=A1), (J4:J20,1,0)). I know I am missing something or not on the right track.

I have a graph with something like 40 series that are being plotted. For one, I create non-standard data labels using VBA. In that code, I refer to ChartObjects(1).Chart.SeriesCollection(34). At some point I deleted a series that preceded it in the "select data" list and the code crashed. Took a lot of digging to learn that SeriesCollection(34) had become SeriesCollection(33).
To avoid this in the future, is there a way to refer to the SeriesCollection by a unique name rather than a sequential number?
