Address Fields From Rows To Columns

Aug 8, 2007

I need to Align some address fields that I receive from an import. I have several lines of data that are represented in the attachment in Sheet 1. I'm just looking to clean it up a bit by having the address be listed in one column. I'm hoping to acheive the results that appear on the DesiredResult sheet. I could have sworn I saw a similiar post several weeks ago while perusing Ozgrid, but now that I'm in actual need, I can't seem to find it when searching.

Applying Decapitalization And Capitalization To Address Fields?

I have a row of addresses - each was typed by users on website.

examples:

po box 1451 (would like to see: PO Box or P.O Box or P.O. Box)
PO box 427 (same here)
1735 park st. (would prefer 1735 Park St.)

Converting Single Address String To Multiple Fields

Jan 11, 2007

I recieve a spreadsheet each month with the following column of data:

9 Paddington House
PO Box 73
Whiteleys of Bayswater
9-10 Grove Road
134/138 Drymen Road
44-46 The High Street
1 Midland Road
48 Donegall Place

As you can see, it consists of addresses, each line is a separate address. I need it to be converted so that the data is split into the following 5 fields:

Street number from
street number letter from
street number to
street number letter to
street

If there is no street number , then it should just enter the data into the street field. If there is a range such as 44-46, it should enter the 2 numbers into the from and to fields. Sometimes this is in the format 44/46. Also, sometimes there are letters, eg 44a-44b, in which case each section (ie 44, a, 44, b) needs to be in a spearate field.

Matching 2 Fields In 2 Columns And Copying A 3rd Field Into The 3rd Column

Oct 8, 2009

I need a formula. Probably Vlookup. I'm having a LOT of trouble trying to figure out how to "phrase" the formula so let me explain what it is I'm trying to do. If a cell in Sheet 1 Column AS and a cell in Sheet 2 Column B match exactly, I want the cell in Sheet 2 Column C that is in the same row as the matched cell in Sheet 2 Column B to be copied into Sheet 1 Column BB in the same row as the matched cell in Sheet 1 Column AS.

For example, if cells in S1 Column AS and S2 Column B both have the name "LOS ANGELES" then "KLAX" will be copied from cell in S2 Column C (in same row as "LOS ANGELES") to S1 Column BB (in same row as "LOS ANGELES").

Pivot Tables And Counting True Fields For Two Columns

Feb 26, 2009

I have just started using pivot tables and I have ran into a problem with the count feature. I have an original data list that breaks down in the pivot table to:

date
events on that date

Using the pivot table facilities, I want to do a count of those who said they were going to attend, and those who actually attended. The detailing both of these columns on the original list have a true false designation. When I do the count, the summarised information only counts the number of records for each of these events, and not the 'true' field entries for each of these columns.

How do I count these two parameters for 'true' from the original list in the pivot table so I can see a comparison between these two numbers?

Match Multiple Fields In A Row Over Many Rows

Mar 9, 2008

I have 4 colums of customer input data, Length, Width, Height and Quantity. There are over 20 rows to accomodate multiple combinations. I have several other hidden pricing pages with all possible combinations including materials, pricing etc. Assuming I am on the frst pricing page and first combination I need a formula that will match the first 3 inputs per row and if true give me the 4rth input for the matching row.

Example:
Customer input-
row 1 = 8 - 12 - 4 - 15
row 2 = 4 - 4 - 2 - 25
etc.

Order Page-
Combination 1 = 4x4x2 quantity___ (input row 2 matches 4-4-2 give quantity 25)
Combination 2 = 4x8x2 quantity___ (no input row matches 4-8-2 give quantity 0)

Combination 36 = 8x12x4 quantity___ (input row 1 matches 8-12-4 give quantity 15)

Combine Data In Rows For Certain Fields Only

Aug 8, 2008

I need to combine data from multiple rows to single rows, for certain fields only. The database is large and can described as having an ID column, followed by columns 2 to n that do not need to be combined, followed by columns n+1 to N that do.

I've attached a sample dataset along with the desired outcome. For the purposes of illustration the sample uses n=3 and N=5 but the actual dataset has much larger dimensions.

Select And Copy Multiple Columns Based On 2 Data Fields

I have a spreadsheet with a heap of raw data in it. I need to perform a search based on a customer name, then return certain columns from the raw data IF the customer name is matched in one column, AND a special flag name is matched in a second column. The customer name is always a single entry for the purpose of the query, however the special flag must be checked against a possible list of values in a table. I know this is hard to explain, and I can't add attachments to my posts, so I have created a sample document and placed in in dropbox:

Split Address Into Two Columns

Feb 22, 2010

I'm trying to split the address stored in column A into two columns (i.e. columns B & C). I got more than 30,000 addresses stored in column A and got the following excel function to do the job. However, it seems not to exactly solve my problem.

in column B : =LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1,20)-1)
in column C : =right(A1,len(A1)-FIND(" ",A1,21))

First, using the above functions, I got to manually drag the formula to the end of column containing 30,000 records! I tried to use vba to perform the job the script failed to do so. I know there has been something I missed in my vba script but do not know how to correct it.

for k = 1 to 30,000
Range("b" & k).value = LEFT(range("A" & k),FIND(" ",range("A" & k,20)-1))
Range("c" & k).value = RIGHT(range("A" & k),len(range("A" & k)-FIND(" ",range("A" & k,21))
next

What I really want to do is split the addresses in columns B & C with the first text ended with "Street" or "Road" stored in Column A and the other text after "Street" or "Road" in column C.

column A : 128 Johnway Road, 12/F, Flat C, Kowloon, Hong Kong
column B : 128 Johnway Road
Column C : 12/F, Flat C, Kowloon, Hong Kong

Formula To Handle 5 Fields Of Data To Avoid Creating Extra Columns?

Nov 27, 2009

I am inputting 5 variables in columns A through E:

Family (Y/N)
Adult (1/0)
Child (1/0)
Date of Birth
Gender

I am attempting to generate:

Age Males in families sorted into age brackets
Age Females in families sorted into age brackets
Age Males single sorted into age brackets
Age Females single sorted into age brackets

I did this rather simplistically generating 4 columns (F through I) and then using COUNTIF (although I know there is a better way than the lame way I used COUNTIF but that is not the point right now).

However, my question is, can I generate the data described above (located in D13:I22 on my spreadsheet) without going through the messy, cumbersome step of creating extra columns?

Convert Address List To Multiple Columns

Apr 10, 2009

I'm looking for a way to convert an old church address list that is formatted in a single column. There are no blank rows, but the amount of rows for each entry can vary. For instance, there could be as little as 3 rows of data (church name, address, city/state/zip) or more if email addresses and websites are provided.

The data is currently in the format below (notice how one entry has a website while the other does not).

First Church
102 Main Street
Dallas, TX 12345
email@whatever.com
Second Church
500 Second Street
Austin, TX 12376
email2@whatever.com
http://www.boguswebsite.com

So I'm looking for the data to be formatted like the following:

First Church 102 Main Street Dallas, TX 12345 email@whatever.com
Second Church 500 Second Street Austin, TX 12376 email2@whatever.com http://www.boguswebsite.com

I was able to find the following code from a Google search, but it can't dynamically adjust the range.

Sub x()
Dim rng As Range

Set rng = Range("A1").Resize(5)
Do Until IsEmpty(rng.Cells(1, 1))
rng.Copy
Cells(Rows.Count, "B").End(xlUp).Offset(1).PasteSpecial Transpose:=True
Set rng = rng.Offset(5)
Loop

End Sub

I think what I need to make this code work is a way to dynamically adjust the range so that it can determine when to move to the next row of data. Static ranges break the process due to the amount of data being provided not being uniform. What I was thinking is that I could use the word "church" as a start point and end point in a loop so the script knows when to jump to the next row and begin copying the proper number of columns. I'm just not sure how to accomplish this in vba.

Excel Macro - Deriving Fields Based On Multiple Rows Of Data

Dec 4, 2012

- The macro should then try to find this data on the worksheet "Sheet2" in the same workbook. This data on Sheet2 is essentially a table with four columns "Number" (Col A), "Country" (Col B), "Consol" (Col C) and "Bypass" (Col D) but can have around 70k rows

- It should look for Number first, and if its not found, the macro should insert the message "Update OK" in cell A8 on Sheet1

- If it finds at least 1 row for the Number but the Country is the same for all the rows and it matches the value input for Country on Sheet1, then it insert the message "Multiple Records - Update OK" in cell A8 on Sheet1

- If it finds at least 1 row for the Number but the Country is the same for all the rows and it does not match the value input for Country on Sheet1, and if all Bypass fields in Sheet2 have "Y" but the Bypass field input on Sheet1 has "N", then put "Multiple Records - Update OK" in cell A8 on Sheet1

- If it finds at least 1 row for the Number but the Country is the same for all the rows and it does not match the value input for Country on Sheet1, and if all Bypass fields in Sheet2 have "N" but the Bypass field input on Sheet1 has "Y", then put "Multiple Records - Bypass - Do Not Update" in cell A8 on Sheet1

- If it finds at least 1 row for the Number but the Country is the same for all the rows that have a Bypass value of "N" and it does match the value input for Country on Sheet1 then put "Multiple Records - No Need to Update" in cell A8 on Sheet1

- If it finds at least 1 row for the Number but the Country is different for all the rows that have a Bypass value of "N", then put "Multiple Records - Refer" in cell A8 on Sheet1

Return Range Address Across Different Columns Based On Conditions

Apr 23, 2008

I am trying to return a cell address range based on values in different columns. Attached is an example.

In Column A1 I have "Range" and below that a set of numbers from 1 to 31.

In Column B1 the name "Test" is used as an identifier, below that are the letters "a" though to "e". Once the letter "e" is reached the identifier "Test" is moved to column C "C6" and the alphabet continues from "f" down to "j". This process is repeated through the rest of the alphabet and the identifier moved to the next column after every 5th letter.

What I want to do is as follows:-

I would like to know the cell addresses of all instances of "test" from Column A numbers 6 throught to 24. The result should be C7:C12, D14:18 & D20:24. The results should ignore all instances of the identifier "test" and only return the cells which contain the letters of the alphabet.

I have tried using Vlookup which works well if the letters are all in the same column and I have incorporated the Address and Match formulas to return the range if all the alphabets are in the same column, but I do not know how to do this if the identifier "test" and letters move to a differnt column.
