A few days ago I had a list of values in column A, and wanted to display in column B, in the cell where the cursor is when the macro is started (let's call it Bn), the sum of values (An:An-11), where n can be any row where there are values to be added.
"XLD" showed me how to clear the values from the column where the cursor is when the macro is started, and how to display in that cell the sum of 12 values in the adjacent column.
In cell C2, I have =SUM(cellsBeforeUp), where the named range cellsBeforeUp refers to =Sheet1!$A1:B1
The idea is to have a named range that refer to the cells in the preceding row but to the left of the current column, via relative addressing in the name's definition.
The problem is that the formula returns 0 (which is wrong). (changing RefersTo to =Sheet1$A1:$B1 gets the correct sum, but the range does not expand when dragged as =SUM($A1:B1) would.)
In Cell D2, the formula =SUM(cellsBeforeUpA) where cellsBeforeUpA refers to =OFFSET(Sheet1!$A1:C1,0,0) This name works properly.
I don't understand why OFFSETing by 0,0 is required to make this work properly.
I have been researching this for 3 days and I cannot find a solution. I have City, State information in A1. I also have City, State information in B1. I need to put them into City (D1) and State (E1).
I have a dynamically named range the contents of which I want to clear. However, I also want to clear the cell contents in the next column beside the range. So if my dynamically named range is A20:B40 can I clear the contents of A20:C40 without changing the initially named range. Background: The data I have is the result of an advanced filter. The range is named for printing purposes without the final column. If I then change one of the raw data I want to run the filter again. To do this I need to clear the first filter.
I'm trying to compare addresses in a worksheet, column A and column C have the addresses in them, in column A there are 44063 rows and column C has 43751 rows , both columns should have the same number of rows in each column because they should have the same number of addresses in each column but they dont so what i need to find out is which addresses from column A arent in column C and which addresses in column C arent in Column A and have the result put in column D.
I'm trying to split the address stored in column A into two columns (i.e. columns B & C). I got more than 30,000 addresses stored in column A and got the following excel function to do the job. However, it seems not to exactly solve my problem.
in column B : =LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1,20)-1) in column C : =right(A1,len(A1)-FIND(" ",A1,21))
First, using the above functions, I got to manually drag the formula to the end of column containing 30,000 records! I tried to use vba to perform the job the script failed to do so. I know there has been something I missed in my vba script but do not know how to correct it.
for k = 1 to 30,000 Range("b" & k).value = LEFT(range("A" & k),FIND(" ",range("A" & k,20)-1)) Range("c" & k).value = RIGHT(range("A" & k),len(range("A" & k)-FIND(" ",range("A" & k,21)) next
What I really want to do is split the addresses in columns B & C with the first text ended with "Street" or "Road" stored in Column A and the other text after "Street" or "Road" in column C.
column A : 128 Johnway Road, 12/F, Flat C, Kowloon, Hong Kong column B : 128 Johnway Road Column C : 12/F, Flat C, Kowloon, Hong Kong
I have set up a macro to clear data in COl A from row 2 onwards. I need to amend the code to clear the data in the following columns from row 2 as well
Col C to I and Col L to O
Sub ClearData() Dim LR As Long, i As Long LR = Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row For i = 2 To LR With Range("A" & i) .ClearContents
I'm in need to split 1 column (address details) into several columns (for ex. address, city, postcode, country) I can't use the "Text to Column" function as some address will split into 5 part, some split into 6/7/8. Is there any way I could do this automatically as there're a lot of entries in my spreadsheet. Example of the data need to be split attached.
I need to Align some address fields that I receive from an import. I have several lines of data that are represented in the attachment in Sheet 1. I'm just looking to clean it up a bit by having the address be listed in one column. I'm hoping to acheive the results that appear on the DesiredResult sheet. I could have sworn I saw a similiar post several weeks ago while perusing Ozgrid, but now that I'm in actual need, I can't seem to find it when searching.
Below is my initial code that can't get past the first line.
if right(cells(2,i),4) = "D_MA" then ..... ?
I'm trying to clear the contents of all data in each column that has the text conaining "D_MA" in that columns row 2. For instance, if cell F2 has 30D_MA, I want the macro to clear all contents in Column "F" -- but to do this for all columns that contain "D_MA" in row 2.
I have a named range BGl (G1:R1). I would like to see if a cell address ($U$6) is within the columns of that range. I need a function to give me a true or false based on changing cell addresses.
I have a spreadsheet with a few thousand rows, yeah i know..lol Each one of the rows has contact details for individuals. I have the address for each person in one field with up to four different sections, seperated by tabs. How do I go about seperating each part of the address so it is in a different column? I have tried text to columns, and it only seperates the first portion of the address, seperated by the delimiter 'tab'.
I'm looking for a way to convert an old church address list that is formatted in a single column. There are no blank rows, but the amount of rows for each entry can vary. For instance, there could be as little as 3 rows of data (church name, address, city/state/zip) or more if email addresses and websites are provided.
The data is currently in the format below (notice how one entry has a website while the other does not).
First Church 102 Main Street Dallas, TX 12345 email@whatever.com Second Church 500 Second Street Austin, TX 12376 email2@whatever.com http://www.boguswebsite.com
So I'm looking for the data to be formatted like the following:
First Church 102 Main Street Dallas, TX 12345 email@whatever.com Second Church 500 Second Street Austin, TX 12376 email2@whatever.com http://www.boguswebsite.com
I was able to find the following code from a Google search, but it can't dynamically adjust the range.
Sub x() Dim rng As Range
Set rng = Range("A1").Resize(5) Do Until IsEmpty(rng.Cells(1, 1)) rng.Copy Cells(Rows.Count, "B").End(xlUp).Offset(1).PasteSpecial Transpose:=True Set rng = rng.Offset(5) Loop
End Sub
I think what I need to make this code work is a way to dynamically adjust the range so that it can determine when to move to the next row of data. Static ranges break the process due to the amount of data being provided not being uniform. What I was thinking is that I could use the word "church" as a start point and end point in a loop so the script knows when to jump to the next row and begin copying the proper number of columns. I'm just not sure how to accomplish this in vba.
I have written a VBA procedure which is supposed to hide unneeded columns (based on the a number entered in a certain cell. This is working so far. Since I need to sum only the visible cells in a row i need to clear the contents of a range of cells if they will be hidden. Unfortunately the code i have written runs only to the ClearContents and then starts over from the beginning. If i take out the .clearcontents and put .Select for example instead, the code runs perfectly. Here is the
Sub worksheet_calculate() 'Hide columns that are not needed
Sheet1. Unprotect
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
Dim i As Integer Dim r As Integer Dim s As Integer Dim rngRange As Range
I have a long list of names, address, city state zip, and phone number, followed by the next name, address, etc. I need to now be able to bring each one into it's own column.
Example: David Smith 123 Main St. Denver, CO 12345 123.456.7890 Joe Blow 345 Happy Ave. Oakland, CA 34567 567.890.1234
I need to convert it so that I would have
David Smith 123 Main St. Denver, CO 12345 123.456.7890 Joe Blow 345 Happy Ave. Oakland CA 34567 567.890.1234
I want to filter data code which contains public IP Address and copy the filtered data to other sheet. Column contains both string and number. Please see example:-
ABC http://192.168.44.29:2967 DENIED
BCD https://d31qbv1cthcecs. atrk.js DENIED
[Code] ........
In above table (second column) the URL address after http:// can start with string or can start with number. If it is starting with numbers the I need to check whether the address is public is Private or public. In second column http://192.168.44.29, http://172.25.5.107/is Private IP so I need to ignore it but http://95.138.166.181 is public IP and we need to copy to other sheet.
I am trying to return a cell address range based on values in different columns. Attached is an example.
In Column A1 I have "Range" and below that a set of numbers from 1 to 31.
In Column B1 the name "Test" is used as an identifier, below that are the letters "a" though to "e". Once the letter "e" is reached the identifier "Test" is moved to column C "C6" and the alphabet continues from "f" down to "j". This process is repeated through the rest of the alphabet and the identifier moved to the next column after every 5th letter.
What I want to do is as follows:-
I would like to know the cell addresses of all instances of "test" from Column A numbers 6 throught to 24. The result should be C7:C12, D14:18 & D20:24. The results should ignore all instances of the identifier "test" and only return the cells which contain the letters of the alphabet.
I have tried using Vlookup which works well if the letters are all in the same column and I have incorporated the Address and Match formulas to return the range if all the alphabets are in the same column, but I do not know how to do this if the identifier "test" and letters move to a differnt column.
I have a 2000 row sheet with an address field that contains the apartment number and the address. The text is displayed as unit number, then hyphen and the building/street number for example '101-1234 15th Street'. I'm looking to cut the building number from the cell and paste it into a seperate column. Ideally removing the hyphen completely, so that I have two columns 'unit number' and 'building/street address'.
Whoever created my customer contacts Excel sheet prior to my arrival entered all of the contacts address information into one cell and in order for me to put this info into Access, I need them seperated. For example:
10000 X Street Louisville, KY 40291 is in cell E2
I would like it to read:
10000 X Street in cell E2 Louisville in cell F2 KY in cell G2 40291 in cell H2
They also did this with phone numbers (ie. desk# / cell# / fax#).
There are over 1000 contacts in this sheet, so it would take forever to split these apart row by row.
I am struggling to find a macro which can look at a name in column 'BT' and search it in the address book of Outlook to then place the email address of that person in column 'ED'
There are 35,000+ people in the address book and there may be over 5 email addresses for one name, so is there any way a message can appear for the user to select which email address is correct if there is more than 1 contact for that name?
Assume the following list of addresses are all in separate cells of a single column (A1-A4). I just need the formula to extract the street addresses, and then a separate formula to extract the zip codes.
5430-44 PASCHALL AVENUE PHILADELPHIA, PA 19143 OPA/BRT#: 884350845
