Categorizing Data Based On Color Then Split Into Columns?
May 15, 2013
I have one column of data which I need to split into two. Those values that are bold need to migrate to column B. Have some difficulty in phrasing the question properly.
Original:
A
10
0
0
2
4
Desired output:
A B
0 10
2 0
0 0
2 0
0 4
* note a few formatting issues here:
1. instead of bold and not bold, they are in green or in purple
2. 0 stands for an empty cell in my data set (I tried to fill the empty cells with zeros, but they somehow inherit the colors, i.e. some zeros are green and some zeros are purple; guess that wouldn't be a problem since the desired output they'll all be zeros anyway?)
I need to split the data into worksheets (see attached) by the Advertiser column and then by the deal year and deal code columns. I need each worksheet to be named per advertiser and deal year_deal code. I took off and replaced the data since it is sensitive information.
creating a macro or implicating one into the workbook to run for future reporting.
I'm currently working on a process to recategorise products for a distribution company to give a category based on successful sales transactions.
Product Code Category Month 1 Month 2
[Code].....
This isnt the actual data in case you're wondering I'm doing this with 32k lines.
So, what I want to have is categories based on sales transactions, labelled with letters. So, cat A is sales in three consecutive and top X when total of three month consecutive sales, cat B being above X number of transactions in three months not already categorised by cat A. There is a Cat C, and various others which I can do myself, but i dont know how to make the category A work.
Every week I export a payroll report from my payroll provider (sample attached). The report is sorted by employee name. I need this report to be categorized by department and show a subtotal for each department. The payroll provider does not provide a means to put departments in the system.
I'd like to find a way to automate this as much as possible. The final report has to have a column that reflects each employee's department and the report must be sorted by dept with a subtotal for each dept. I tried to do this using a second worksheet that lists each employee and the dept they work in and linking it to the payroll summary using =IF; that obviously did not work.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how this can be accomplished? The process would need to be repeated for many clients each week, so I'd like to keep it as simple as possible.
how to set one entire columns text to two different colors based on another columns values. So for example I have column A and B. Column A has two values called Internal and External. Column B is a title table so the entire column is just titles. We'll say it goes for 20 rows if you need a row count. What I am looking to do change the text in Column B to Red for External and Blue for Internal. I tried the conditional formatting and I just can't seem to find the right option.
For each cell in column A, I am trying to split the data between two new cells. The data in each cell is separated by a “|”. All information to the left of “|” should go in column B. All information to the right of “|” should go in column C.
I am trying to split data from a cell into two columns. I have tried the LEFT and RIGHT functions but as the data held is not always the same number of characters this does not work for the LEFT function. The only constant thing is that the last character will always be in the second column. An example of data would be:
I am looking for two formulas (col. B+C) in order to split every second value from Col. A into two adjacent columns. Empty cells, in col. A, should be ignored. The requested result is shown in green and red.
I have attached the relevant spreadsheet for which I need to alter the color of the columns based on Site number ( Sheet 1). % Mortality will be represented in the Y-Axis, and the Site numbers would be on the X-Axis. All columns (% Mortality) except one will be of the same color, and the one of a different color will indicate a specific site. As an example, site 86 is colored differently. The way I require the chart to look is shown on Sheet 1.
After reading through some great posts on Ozgrid, I managed to do this using conditional formatting (Sheet 2), but that sort of falls short because I am required to add a data table to the chart, and the parameter that is indicated by the column bars happens to appear twice in the data table.
I was wondering if this can be automated maybe using VBA, but with the possibility of simply matching the color of columns with the font color of respective entry in the data series.
i have cells with city and state in them and i'm trying to separate the one column into two columns. the problem is, i'm trying to keep the city name in one column and the state in the other. some of my cells have two word cities like new albany, or upper arlington. the text to columns feature is separating those cells into 3 columns not 2. is there a way to do this?
example: worthington, oh upper arlington, oh
text to columns splitting upper arlington into 3 different cells because the only delimiter in the cell is a space. i need to keep upper arlington in one cell and oh in another.
I have an address in one cell in excel. Street/City/State/Zip are all separated by two spaces like this: 123 Anywhere St Chicago IL 60607 United States
I want to break them out into separate columns. The "Text to Columns" won't work because there are no commas or dashes separating the data.
This formula I want to apply it in another workbook. It split in different columns the content of a cell.
The formula is below:
[Code] .....
In cell A2 I have the following data: |516582-001-99|414816-001-99|414816-003-99|516582-001-99|
If I apply the formula above in cells B2 to E2 it returns a blank cells. But if I delete the first "|" sign in the left side manually the formula works perfectly by splitting the cell into columns from B2 to E2. The issue here is that I have more than 300,000 records. Just imagine the amount of time invested in just deleting the first "|" at the left side.
I need a variation of the formula above that in first place delete the first "|" at the left side and after that continue with the proper work of the formula.
I have seen this function Quickly split data into multiple worksheets based on selected column in Excel when searching for a solution. I would very much like to use VBA to filter data and open up new files in a similar way.
spliting of main data By column criterias which start from column E1:L1 something like Pivot Table in new worksheet, but based on formula functions. Each worksheets have to based in one of this column D1:K1 headings. That also have to rapidly change with main data table.
We are an office furniture company and we want to hold a master list of all stock. The columns we require are:
Product ID Product Description Product Grade Product Price Sold
The Sold column would be a YES or NO answer, and based on that I want the data to split into two additional worksheets, one with all the unsold items and one with all the sold items. So really I need to know how to split the data based on whether the line has a YES or a NO in the sold column.
The data needs to update instantly so if I change a product from unsold to sold it then comes off the current available stock tab.
I have tried to split using KuTool and ASAP Tool but they dont work. They can only split base on #of row. Between each of the group of my data, there is a empty row that split them. I want to split every single row from A:H to a new workbook. Why A:H becuz from A1:A8, the A5 is empty. It has to be in range, specify by me, so if the condition is met as empty from A:H, then split from there and keep going on the whole spreadsheet.
I am looking to split data in a worksheet into separate sheets based on Column C which contains Either Babycare or Homecare or Industrial or Professional. Eventually there maybe more names. If possible I would also like to name each sheet.
I have a few CSV files that sits in a folder ie C:/Data and I want to split the data in those files into different sheets. Each of those files contains rows of data with an account number. For example, I have 3 files that contains transactions and they have accounts "Orange", Apple, pear, I want to put all transations with account apple together and all Orange transaction together etc etc.
I am a locksmith and attempting to write a spreadsheet app. for my line of work. The output page will use columns A-G and rows 1-?10000? depending on the size of the system. If a 5 pin system is requested then columns A+B will be blacked out. 6 pin system A is blacked out. 7 pin system nothing blacked out. Also, if any cell matches the master key that was input, that cell is filled with red. I know, confusing.
Basically, I am trying to remove the blacked out columns automatically, and to remove the enitire row is any cell in that row is filled with red. Then to remove blank lines.
I have a simple spreadsheet. A column for a persons name and 31 columns, one for each day of the month. I want to apply conditional formatting, either fill color or border color, to the date column of the current date when the spreadsheet is opened.
I was handed a pdf of some leads by a co-worker. Finally, I got the data into excel but it's in a pretty useless format... 30,000 rows of contact info with no rhyme or reason. I want to upload this into our CRM, but I need to get all the different bits of info into separate columns. I'm no excel pro, but I managed to use an Excel plugin called ASAP tools to bring some order to this chaos... All names have a blue cell color, all titles have a green cell color, work phone is red, and so on.
Does anyone know a way that I can sort these into separate columns? I've trying playing with the Filter function, but it hides rows which makes the output useless for my purposes.
I want to show 8 members of staff's names, with their sales closing percentages. I want then to produce a chart showing their percentages as a column with a line showing 16% going across the chart showing who is above and who is below the target.
Ideally i would also like to change the colour of the columns or background of those below the line to show who is under target.
I have a workbook that has a sheet called CustInvData, this sheet contains 4,421 rows of invoice transaction data for 178 customers starting on row 2 (headers on row 1). I need to split the transaction data for each customer out into a workbook template based on the customer name in column A. I need each workbook named by the customer name along with a month and year (example: Bellsouth-0911.xls), this should create 178 unique workbooks. And since we sometimes have to go back and rerun invoices for previous months, I'll need to control the month and year manually in the code.
The parsed data needs to be copied to a pre-formatted invoice template. This template has 2 sheets, Sheet1 is called 'Product Summary', this is a table that uses VLOOKUP functions to read the data in Sheet2 called 'Product Details', this is the sheet the parsed data needs to be copied to for each customer invoice. The 'Product Details' sheet has formatted rows 1 thru 11, row 11 being the header row for the data from CustInvData to be copied. So the parsed data needs to start at row 12.
Last, once the data has been copied into the 'Product Details' sheet, I need the data to be SubTotaled at each change in column J (Product) and use the 'Sum' function to add a Subtotal in column L (Retail Price) for each unique product category.
Example data below, I've simplified it (the actual data array spans from columns A to Y)
Here's my problem. I have a cell where there are many data strings seperated by ",". Each data string has a seperate value of its own like for e.g: A2: aa,ab,ac
String Value aa 1 ab 1 ac 3
What I want it accomplish is that, split the A2 cell into the different data string entities seperated by ",", then get the corresponding value of each of the data string entity, and to take the average of all the values of the different data string entities.
