Locking Conditional Formatting In 2000: Copy/paste Text From Other Cells Or Columns Even Other Workbooks

Jul 27, 2009

I have a column "g" with this conditional formatting:- =A2<>A3 Format Bottom Border.
However I will pass this workbook onto someone else who will fill in the text in column "g". They will use copy/paste text from other cells or columns even other workbooks that will not have the conditional formatting.

I have used Cells > Projection > Locked unchecked then used Tools > Protection > Protect Sheet and checked all. There does not seem to be a way to unlock the cell but protect Conditional formatting. Each time I copy and paste from other non formatted cells it wipes out my formatting.

File Size Increased And Slow After Formulas And Conditional Formatting

Jan 28, 2011

I have an excel file which consist of 12 sheets. The main sheet contain columns from A to EL and 556 rows.

At the moment, i have data on from column A to AI (we will add more data day by day). All data in main sheet are linking to another 4 sheets which basically using IF, VLOOKUP, and Conditional Formatting. My file originally was only 4.6MB in size.

However, after adding the formula (IF & Vlookup) and conditional formatting to the fourth sheet (number of columns is from A to BZ) then the file size increased from 4.6MB to 13.7MB.

My excel file also became very slow and i need to take off the Automatically Calculation option.

Protect Conditional Formatting For Accessible Cells In Protected Excel File?

May 13, 2014

Is there a way to protect the conditional formatting of accessible cells in a protected sheet.

Detail: I have a protected excel sheet. However some of the cells are made accessible so others (my secretary) can fill them up. The accessible cells have conditional formatting which become nonfunctional during pasting from other sources if "special paste" is not used.

Excel 2007 :: Conditional Formatting Of Numbers Will Not Stay Cleared On Reopening File

Apr 27, 2013

Excel 2007 Conditional Formatting. I am trying to apply conditional formatting to a wide range of cells. I only want the rule to adjust the color and shading, under the FONT tab in the section below. Specifically, I do NOT want to adjust the number format (I have the user select the scaling and use VB to populate the number formatting). I accomplish this by removing the number formatting by going into the conditional formatting rule, clicking on format, and then on the first tab (Number) -- on the bottom right there is button to Clear.

This resolves the issue perfectly, and I can operate the report exactly as I would expect.

Unfortunately, when closing the report (after a save), and then re-opening, the conditional formatting number format is no longer cleared. Worse yet, because it no longer is cleared, the scaling VB doesn't work, unless I go back into conditional formatting rules, and go to the number tab, and click clear.

Screen shot of after re-opening, no changes:

Report looks terrible (not real data):

Saving Multiple Workbooks At One Time/file As A Text File

Mar 16, 2007

found the following code which works for 1 workbook at a time. I am trying to save 7 workbooks at 1 time. Is it possible?

Sub SaveAsCell()
Dim strName As String

On Error Goto InvalidName
strName = Sheet1. Range("V77")
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs strName

It will work on the first sheet but none after that. I need to have each workbook saved with the value in cell V77. Also if that is possible, is it possible to change where the file is saved as well?

Right now I have a master workbook that will open the 7 other workbooks, paste data onto several pages in each workbook. I would like the macro to save the workbooks. The workbooks are named: 02 Tuesday, 03 Wednesday, 04 Thursday, 05 Friday, 06 Saturday, 07 Sunday, 08 Monday.

IF Statement Using Formatting Criteria (NOT Conditional Formatting)

May 5, 2009

Is there "code" for different formatting in a spreadsheet so you can use an IF statement to do something like:

if(A1=blue background,"Yes","No")

or

if(A1=red text,"Yes","No")

etc.?? But replace "blue background" and "red text" with some sort of number code? I want to compile a list of the items that are formatted with certain background colors and/or text colors and then organize only those items into a chart.

Conditional Statement In Vb For Two Separate Workbooks

Feb 20, 2009

I am trying to find a way where I can just enter the information into one and have it flood to the other.

worksheetA is the master sheet which contains data on all accounts - the order and number of entries on this account changes monthly.
worksheetB shows data only on a single account.

What I am looking to do is to take the account name from worksheetB find the data I entered in worksheetA and have that flow to the apporitate cells in worksheetB.

Something like this

cell on worksheetB displaying number of vehicles - if worksheetB(cell with the account name) = worksheetA(range of cells with multiplenames) if the two match somewhere on the list then display the number of vehicles from a cell in another coloum same row.

sorry if its confusing, tried my best to explain it. I'm sure it can be done with VB but just don't know that one much, is the syntax and language similar to the old ms basic?

Conditional Copy & Paste Between Workbooks

Jan 28, 2008

I have attached two Workbooks (OLD.xls and NEW.xls). I update this report weekly, but must always copy the previous week's status data (OLD.xls) into the new report (NEW.xls). Under each row, I enter a status update that pertains to the job (row) above it. When I run a new report, some data is removed and some is added to NEW.xls. (Details in the attached Workbooks)

I need to make sure that the proper status is copied and inserted below the new date for the matching job between Workbooks. The variable in column C must be the same in both Workbooks.

I'm having trouble with the Name-variable in the 'red line'. This variable is set in the 'purple lines' however, the code (which I got online) keeps adding ".pdf" to the name.

I think it has to do with the settings of the 'purple/underlined line' but I don't know if this is true and if so, how to change it.
