Conditional Format Duplicates Ignore Certain Criteria?

Jul 30, 2014

I have conditionally formatted a column of staff names where duplicates are highlighted - this is fine but there are some duplicates that I do not want to include - these all have the same criteria in that they include the suffix (v)

Is there an easy way of doing this?

Multiple Criteria Ranking To Ignore Duplicates

Apr 2, 2008

I posted a thread a while ago asking for a formula to rank based on multiple criteria (Rank On Multiple Criteria). The following; = SUMPRODUCT(--($A$2:$A$50=$A2),--($B$2:$B$50=$B2),--($D$2:$D$50=$D2),--($G2>$G$2:$G$50))+1)

works an absoulte treat, however is there a way to modify it so that does not allow duplicates? The data in the G column refers to time values acheived during testing of athletes, the problem arises when two athletes achieve the same score and thus they are ranked the same. However, body mass is also measured (F column) and in essence the athlete with the lower body mass has achived the better score and thus should be ranked accordingly.

Conditional Format: Ignore Blank Cells

Feb 5, 2007

Excel 2004 for Mac

I'd like to give a conditional format to a range of cells so that only one cell in the range has a gray background. The condition must include three criteria:
1) The cell cannot be blank, AND
2) The cell's value must be the minimum in the range, AND
3) The cell's value must not equal any value preceding it in the range.

My own attempt looks like this for cell J8 in the range C8:AF8:
=AND(NOT(ISBLANK(J8)),J8=MIN($C8:$AF8),J8$C8:I8)

Problem: This condition works great for all values entered EXCEPT ZERO. When J8 is the first zero in the range, if it is preceded by a blank cell anywhere else in the range, it fails the third criterion (J8$C8:I8) because Excel treats the blank cell as though it's a zero. Result: no gray background.

How can I get Excel to "ignore" blank cells.

Conditional Format For Duplicates

In column C, I have a list of phone numbers of some 10,000 items. In column F I have 50 telephone numbers. I need a formula or a conditional formatting solution that will allow me to mark/indicate/color those numbers in column C that are in column F.

I would prefer to do this without a VBA solution.

Conditional Format Cells Containing Numbers And Letters - Ignore Cells With Number Only

Jul 11, 2014

I have a column of numbers and want to make sure everything has been entered correctly from our scanning software. Basically, I want to automatically highlight any cell that has any letter in it (e.g. z12o2 instead of 21202 or R705 instead of 5705), ignoring any cells that contain only numbers. I haven't had any luck using conditions based on formulas like =ISTEXT.

Conditional Format Rows 4+ Criteria

Mar 7, 2007

What I am looking to do is format a row so that it is highlighted if one cell in that row meets one of two criteria or if another cell in that row meets one of two criteria: I was hoping to use the excel conditional formating tool but I'm stumped as I need 4 criteria and it can only do 3 criteria.

The cells in question require a greater than or less than criteria. If could use something like: Formular is =$AJ16 <= -0.11 or =$AJ16 >= 0.11 and
Formular is =$AK16 <= -0.11 or =$AK16 >= 0.11 I would be very happy but it won't let me do this - is there a way it can be done?

Conditional Formatting On Two Columns To Ignore Asterisk

Oct 28, 2011

I'd like to compare two columns of data and highlight where a value doesn't occurr in both columns. The problem I have is that one of the columns uses * around the text to ensure it catches all variations of the value.

I have the following formula which would work if the data was exactly the same.

=COUNTIF(lst2,value)=0

However, these *'s are meaning it never works.

Is there a way to make it so that if the values with the *'s are not found in the 1st column of data, conditional formatting is activated?

SUMPRODUCT - How To Ignore Blank Criteria

Feb 15, 2012

I have set up a formula to count the occurrences of multiple conditions in a table of data (see below..) the formula reads from 4 cells of criteria but I will not always use the 4 criteria and maybe only need to use say 2 criteria - when I do this my formula doesn't work - my example below shows this... How do I make the formula continue to work when some criteria cells don't have any entries?

This table is a simple example but my main work will have a much larger table (poss. several thousand rows) and probably about 10 criteria cells, so running a big formula with 10 nested IF statements will be too cumbersome... any smart workround for this within the SUMPRODUCT formula?

The top left cell (Fruit) is A1..

FruitColoursTownsNamesApplesRedLondonHarryApplesGreenParisBertPearsBlueLondonFred
PlumsRedVeniceSteveApplesRedLondonBertCriteriaResultFruitPears0ColoursTownsLondonNamesFred
FruitColoursTownsNamesApplesRedLondonHarryApplesGreenParisBertPearsBlueLondonFred
PlumsRedVeniceSteveApplesRedLondonBertCriteriaResultFruitPears0ColoursTownsLondonNamesFred

The formula currently in my Result cell is

=SUMPRODUCT((A2:A6=B10)*(B2:B6=B11)*(C2:C6=B12)*(D2:D6=B13))

which returns 0 and should be 1 in this example...

Possible To Use Conditional Formatting To Recognize Or Ignore Certain Text In Cells?

Mar 2, 2014

I am working on the monthly duty roster that is attached. I have the cells at the bottom configured to total how many early shifts, late shifts and off days each Trooper has. My problem is that I often need to add text to show what type of leave is being taken, or numbers to correspond to the special notes section numbered 1-24, and so on.

Is there any way to use conditional formatting to do this so that the totals at the bottom still sum correctly? Badge numbers are used to identify each Trooper. I have included them at the top for reference. The reason that I referenced them to total by cell instead of individual badge numbers is that I am attempting to format this so that any badge numbers can be entered at the top. This form will be used by other groups of Troopers if I can get it to work.

Sumproduct Multiple Criteria Ignore Error

4 #DIV/0!

I am using the below formula, but getting a #DIV/0! error due to the error in cell B4, which i am not allowed to change using an iferror formula.

=SUMPRODUCT(--(A1:A4=D2),--(B1:B4>=0.8))

Is there a way to get around this using sumproduct or any other method to determine if the customer in D has a percentage >= 80%?

Conditional Format Based On A Conditional Format

Feb 9, 2010

I have five fields that have a conditional format applied to them: (see attached).
Columns J, K, L, N and O. These conditionals highlight if a minimum number is entered. Ex. Minimum pushups for a 30 y/o male is 27, if a 26 is entered it highlights red. The total score (where I need this to perform) is calculated in column Q. It will format red if the total score is below 75 but what I can't figure out is how to make it format if any of the previous minimums have not been met.

Ex. In cell L4, his crunches were 25 (a automatic failure -- red formatting). Now the total score is above 75 so it calculates as passing (green), but I need it to highlight red regardless because of the minimum not met in cell L4.
