Copy And Paste Selection Macro Into New Worksheet Keeps Overwriting The Previous Data
Sep 19, 2012
I have a copy and paste macro below, that copies the selected rows and pastes them into a different sheet called Blank BOM. Each time they are pasted, it just writes over the previous items at the top of the list. I would like it to paste in the next open row, so I can go back and forth between the sheets and add things. Here is the code:
Selection.Copy Sheets("Blank BOM").Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Offset(1, 0)
I have been working on a macro that compares a existing list of data to an updated list of data and then either moves any data not on the new list over to a completed tab (followed by deleting the record on the existing sheet), and then adds any items not on the existing sheet, but which appear on the new list, to the existing list.
I have come across a stumbling block, i have managed to identify on the existing list the rows of data that have been removed from the new list and therefore need to be moved over to the completed tab, but when i select the data it selects the header row aswell (which will always remain the same row). Obviously this then pastes the header row aswell, and also i can't seem to get it to paste in the new sheet to the next available row (i.e this will be used daily and i don't won't to overwrite the infor already in the completed tab). the next issue i have is then when i go back to existing sheet to delete the data i just copied across, as the header was initially select this also gets deleted.
The code below, is the complete code, including filtering, copying some forumals etc. The area i am getting stuck on is highlighted in red:
Sub Update() Dim bottomrow As Long Dim My_Range As Range bottomrow = Cells(Rows.Count, "C").End(xlUp).Row Set My_Range = Range("A1:Y" & bottomrow)
I have amended the code below and have got it working. The problem I have now is that every time it loops it overwrites the data it wrote the previous loop
Offending line being ActiveSheet. Range ("A1: D30") = ValuesArray
I have known that somehow it should remember the last row and copy below this one but I cannot get it to work
Code: Sub Basic_Example_1() Dim MyPath As String, FilesInPath As String Dim MyFiles() As String Dim SourceRcount As Long, Fnum As Long Dim mybook As Workbook, BaseWks As Worksheet Dim sourceRange As Range, destrange As Range
I am looking to create a macro to be assigned to a button that copies the last row of data entered and then pastes it to the last empty row on a different worksheet. This is a dummy spreadsheet to work with (I have more data, but the concept is one in the same). Sheet1 ("Branch1"), Sheet2 ("Branch2"), and Sheet3 ("All"), the names in brackets are names of the sheets, but for ease I'll refer to them as Sheet1, Sheet2, and Sheet3. I have columns beginning in B as follows: Date, Branch, Currency, Coin, and Total (the branch and Total are tied to formulas, however I just need to the text values and formats to come over to the other worksheet). have the portion regarding the copy of the last row in Sheet1, however it won't PasteSpecial.Selection in Sheet3 as it says the cells are not sized or formatted correctly.
VB: Sub CopyB2() lr2 = Sheets("Branch2").Range("B" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row lr3 = Sheets("All").Range("B" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row + 1 Sheets("Branch2").Range("B" & lr2).EntireRow.Copy Sheets("All").Range("B" & lr3) End Sub
i need a macro which copy and paste from multiple worksheets (except for 3 worksheets which is named after Jan, Feb and Mar) into one worksheets (named as OVERALL). The data to copy will cover from cell A1:D1 and below where there is data available.
1) Select/Copy rows 1 thru 35 of column C from "Start" tab. 2) Special Paste/transpose them in row 2 of "Finish" tab (1st 35 columns in row 2 should fill up). 3) Go back to "Start" tab, move exactly three rows down from bottom of previous selection in column C and copy the next 35 rows (rows 38 thru 72 in column C). 4) Again return to "Finish" tab, and special paste/transpose in next row down (row 3 in this case). 5) Continue to repeat this action until all rows of data in column C have been copied and transposed/pasted from "Start" tab to "Finish" tab. Variable number of rows on "Start" tab.
I need a code that will copy any cells with data in range I3:I41 from sheet2 and paste it in sheet1 starting at cell B3. Then copy any cells with data in range I3:I41 from sheet3 and paste it in sheet1 starting at the next empty cell.
I am working on a project where all columns but Column A are locked. The user selects a row of data by selecting the one unlocked cell in that row. This gives him access to modifying the contents and position of that row via a UserForm. My question is: Is there a way to copy the row of data to another sheet automatically when the user changes his selection? In this environment, a change of selection means that the user is done with one row of data and initiating work on another row. What I am trying to accomplish is a procedure invoked by the Worksheet_SelectionChange event that references the cell that has just been de-selected.
I need to create a macro that will insert copied cells(cell range) from the clipboard into a cell on a different workbook and "shift cells down". The cell range in the clipboard will always be different and the position of the cell I select to insert the data into will also vary.
I have attached a portion of an excel file I am using at the moment. What I require is a piece of VBA code which will allow me to copy selected data based on a combo box selection. What needs to happen is this :-
If the selection in the "Index" worksheet combo box related to "Month" in cell G19 is for instance "December", I would like the macro to compare this cell value to the cell values in cells C96, C124, C152, C180, C209, C236, C263 and C290 in the "Tech Services" worksheet and where the values match.......copy the commentary (Range C126:Z147 in December's case) to the range C34:Z55.
I have a large set of data that I need to use for data validation in drop down lists. The data is arranged in 4 columns and entries within each column may repeat numerous times. The four columns are as this..
Category Subcategory 1 Subcategory2 Subcategory3
The first data validation will come from the first column. Once this is chosen the second drop down should populate with the subcategory that correspond to that category stored in column 2. once that is chosen the thrid data validation should populate with the corresponding subcategory from column three etc.. This is a small sample of the data in the columns.
I am a complete amature at Marco's and formulas. I have been trying to create what i need but i am unable to get it to work. I have a worksheet named "Course dates incl. pursuit" which has a table which runs from B7 to J144 in the table it has date, number, name, location, job, area, notifified, on system and passed?. in that order. I want if the passed column which is in J if that has a Y in it to copy and paste into another worksheet on the next avaliable line, worksheet name "Master."I would like it in a slightly different order if that is possible they have the same titles on the table but would like it to go number, name, location, job, area and date. Running from B5 to G(end of spreadsheet). That is the main part i would also like to to copy and paste into another worksheet if the answer is "N" but the above part is the most important part. Due to the computer settings i am unable to attach it
In sheet Model RC BOM I am trying to copy all the rows under Level 1 (row 3), including level 1, until it reaches the next Level 1 (row 537) (not including row 537), and paste those cells in next tab (BIW) starting at row 2. The next operation is to copy all rows under Level 1 (row 537), including level 1, until it reaches the next Level (row 827), not including row 537, and paste those cells in the next tab (Chassis) starting at row 2.
The challenge is that I cannot use the row numbering in sheet Model RC BOM as a reference for coding because the content will change every week.
I am using the following macro which copy and paste certain info from one sheet to another. The macro I am using is
Code: Sub test() With Sheets("Invoice") .Range("A4:C17").Copy Sheets("Transactions").Range("b" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Offset(1).PasteSpecial Paste:=xlPasteValues End With End Sub
Is it possible to copy the value of B2 in the sheet (Invoice) as well and paste it for as many entries there are in the rows 4:17 in the sheet "Transactions". For example say i have items in row 4:10 when it copies the info to the sheet Transactions then it must copy the entry that is in B2 on sheet Invoice also in column a 4:10.
I would like to implement specific cell ranges from two specific worksheets each within 33 workbooks (which all have several tabs) into a summary page in a separate workbook.
The cell ranges are going across my spreadsheet in rows and I would like for them to transpose into a columns depending on the data which I have separated by catergory on the summary page. They are all on the same location in each workbook which is separated by country. The cell ranges are E26:P37 and I would like to transpose them and have them put below eachother without overwriting for my format on the summary page, how I can put this together in a macro?
I have a worksheet that has macro events attached to command buttons. When a ‘Start’ command button is clicked, a timer begins counting in seconds and displays the value in cell B3 until a ‘Stop’ command button is clicked. The event works flawlessly as long as I don’t open up another workbook (to continue working in Excel).
When the second workbook is open…then time stops working in the workbook where the macro was created…and starts displaying the ‘timer count in seconds’ in the new active workbook--which overwrites/destroys the data in the newly opened workbook. When I go back to the original book that called the macro…it continues counting again.
I need this timer to continue running in the workbook with the command buttons (in the background) while I work on other worksheets in other books. Is there a way to keep the timer running no matter how many other workbooks are opened and prevent it from overwriting whatever sheet is active? This code in the Increment Sub below ‘overwrites’ the contents of cell B3 on whatever sheet is active---and stops the timer in the on the sheet with the ‘Start’ command button.
I have a command button that I want to automatically copy and paste certain data to another worksheet when clicked. I keep getting a "runtime error 1004; application-defined or object-defined error". The code I have so far is:
I need to copy and paste data with imposing a condition from one worksheet to the other. I also need a code to update an existing condition.
Sub COPYPASTEDATA() Dim rcnt As Variant, i As Long, j As Long rcnt = Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row j = 4 For i = 2 To rcnt
The procedure does not update the changed condition ( I have pass/fail as condition). Once you run this macro, the data will be pasted but when you change a condition from "fai" to "pass". The pasted data in sheet 3 is not updated. I either need worksheetchange procedure or maybe a code to delete (refresh) sheet 3 data before running the existing macro.
I have Name, location, status (pass/fail) and comment in columns A, B, C, D in sheet 1.
I have two worksheets 1) PL dbase and 2) Waiting list. Both setup as Lists. Where Excel automatically inserts a new row as you click in the current rows... I want to autofilter Waiting list column I for the value of "Yes" Copy all the data autofiltered in Waiting list to the next available row(s) on worksheet PL dbase.
I have a spreadsheet which is updated daily. Row A of the sheet has the date in it, and every day a new column is created for the that set of data. I have the below code which works at the moment:
I want to use this same code on another spreadsheet to do the same process (I need to copy and paste 4 columns (A,B,C + D, into E, F, G & H, then tomorrow it will copy E, F, G & H into I, J, K &L etc etc)). The problem I'm having is that A1:C1 is a merged cell, then D isn't (used as a border to separate). So when it is copied I need to select the merged cell columns and column D (i.e. A:C & D on day 1) and paste it into E:H with E1:G1 merged.
