I want to put a count to column 4 (weight) top know no of packets with wieght beteen 1.5 and 2 kgs. How can I do this with a count.
I'm trying to use this Find Method and combine it with a countif or loop. Something that will count a number of occurences of a unique type of character. I'm looking to find all "F" characters in Bold, Italic and Size 16. Here's my find code that I'm trying to use. I can get it to work by itself but not along with a countif or loop.
Sub count_4()
Dim r As Range
Set r = Range("A1:A6")
With Application.FindFormat.Font
.Bold = True
.Italic = True
.Size = 16
End With
r.Find(What:="F", LookIn:=xlValues, LookAt:=xlWhole, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, _
SearchDirection:=xlNext, searchformat:=True, MatchCase:=True).Activate
End Sub
I have a column of names, and I want to be able to count all the instances of each name, as each instance represents a sale of a product.
Countif(Sales!B:B,"Dave") works, counting all the instances of Dave.
But if I have all the names in column A, and try to have column B give the results (from another WS), as in: =COUNTIF(Sales!B:B,'Best Customers'!A1), I get a "0" as the result. Yet XL help says countif can be used as =COUNTIF(A2:A5,A4). where A4 holds the value to search for.
While we are exploring this, is there a good way to look in a column, get every different instance of the names, and output them into another column?
I have a large amount of data and I'm trying to count how many unique values I have in one column. I also want to know how many times each duplicate appears. I tried using a pivot table but it's not working for me.
I also tried the following formula: =SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(H:H,H:H)>0,1)) but it's not quite working.
I have a new job a part of which is where I have to provide reports using data from excel 2003 sheets that are sent to me by someone else. I add my own formulas to get the data I need. One such bit of data is. How many rows have "yes" in col E and "w" in range M:V?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am tracking 3 different payment types, and the employee, customer and dollar amount for the transactions that can not be verified. All of this data is then transferred over the the "Summary" sheet. I found the Countif formula that will tell me how many times an employee names appears on the sheet, but I was wondering if it were possible to also calculate the dollar amount associated with those transactions.
I have attached the spreadsheet to better explain what I am talking about, but below is a very small example. I do not want to calculate the info on this page, but rather add another 2 cells next to where the number of unclaimed and the % of unclaimed are calculated on the "Summary" sheet. Sample spreadsheet2.xlsx

In column A I have a list if places that can contain duplicates ie
Manchester
Birmingham
London
Birmingham
London
Manchester
Manchester
London
In column B through to D a list of statements to which there are multiple answers i.e.
Yes / Maybe / No
What I'd like to know is how many 'Yes' answers are in the data range for column B:D in Manchester
I've used a countifs but have to result to multiple countifs adding each column together which is fine for 3 columns but not when there are 50!
I would like to use the sumproduct or countif formula for a set of data. I have looked around the forum and have not found what I need so
Column A______Column B
West___________1
West___________2
West___________1
West___________2
South__________ 1
South__________2
South__________1
South__________2
I want to count column B for all "West" (column A) and I don't want duplicates. So it would count two unique characters for West and two unique characters for South. I want "west" and "south" separated.
Currently i am using below formula to get the data from Sheet 'Dec,11'
I have sheets from Jan,11 till Dec,11 and I would like to give a cell reference A1 where I will enter the Sheet name and I should get the data of that sheet.
=COUNTIFS('DEC,11'!$AH$6:$AH$4457,$BE$5,'DEC,11'!$T$6:$T$4457,A6)
Actually I tried entering like this
=COUNTIFS('A1'!$AH$6:$AH$4457,$BE$5,'A1'!$T$6:$T$4457,A6)
But its not working.
I have cells containing data within C15:C22
I also have cells containing data within E25:E32
Some of these cells have the value '5' in them.
I want to have a running total of all the cells in these two ranges that have a value of '5' in them.
I did this formula:
=COUNTIF($C$15:$C$22,"=5")
This works okay but unfortunately this only covers the first data range. How do I specify the other data range in this formula?
I have a huge (for a newbie ) spreadsheet where every item is associated with several key words. There about 500 key words, all in the same column, and I have to build a table identifying the total frequency of each key word. Basically, the first column of the table I've created lists all the possible key words, and the second one is all the COUNTIF formulae, each one being associated with its corresponding key word. The formula I need to use is this one :
=COUNTIF($D$2:$D$8486;"corresponding key word from column 1")
The formula works well and my table looks fine, but the task of copying and pasting 500 key words into each occurrence of the formula is pretty daunting! is there an automatic way to enter each key word into the corresponding formula without having to do it manually? Otherwise, is there a more direct way or another formula that would give me the information I need? Surely there's a more efficient way to do this, but I just don't know how!
I'm currently working on a spreadsheet (see attached) which will have both numeric and text string data. This will be sorted by calender month and linked to another spreadsheet.
Could someone please list 2 functions for me.
The 1st would allow act like a filter allowing only data to be counted for a selected month from a drop down list.
The 2nd allows a counting of pre-set (drop down list) text strings to be counted.
Sorry seems a bit complicated and really I should have either a created a pivot report or used access but I'd like to continue with Excel for this exercise.
I want to perform a COUNTIF in a column where data is added regularly. The COUNTIF range is to be the last 100 rows of data: so if yesterday that range was a2:a102 then today it should be a3:a103, tomorrow it will be a4:a104 and so on.
How can I get COUNTIF to change the range as new data is added? I can generate a string with the changing range ("a2:a102", "a3:a103", and so on) but how do I put that into COUNTIF?
Using COUNTIF/COUNTIFS how to counting data with 3 mode ;
name
property
checking
[Code]....
I want to count with criteria based on adjacent value "name" column related with "checking" column
1) counting data "name" with "yes" criteria?
2) counting data "name" with "yes" & "no" criteria?
3) counting data "name" with blank "" criteria?
4) counting data "property" with criteria contains "name" and "yes" criteria
I am trying to use COUNTIF function to retrieve data to a "Report" tab on my workbook.I need it to be count if as I have 2 criteria whether or not the value in the cell should be counted toward the sum (one is text basically saying "Y" and other the date). Now the formula worked fine when use hard data such as this:
=COUNTIFS('Inspection Report'!$B$3:$B$1048576,"*" & "06/05/2014" & "*",'Inspection Report'!E3:E1048576,"Y")
OUTCOME: 47 (which is correct)
See how I used the date there, I typed it myself. However the end user should not be able to have access to the formula, so I used a cell with drop down list and the date is stored there. So following the logic, my new formula should be this:
=COUNTIFS('Inspection Report'!$B$3:$B$1048576,"*" & C2 & "*",'Inspection Report'!E3:E1048576,"Y")
OUTCOME: 0 (which is incorrect)
how the date is stored. By following my logic this should work as the cell only holds a string value and should be used like this in to calculate the result. if I need to use only the value of the cell in a formula like this should there be any conversion so excel understands what I am trying to do?
I am trying to run a countif function on another worksheet to make a table of raw data.
Look on sheet SC-01 in Column H for "No" and return the count...pretty simple
Code:
=COUNTIF('SC-01'!$H:$H,"No")
What I need it to do is determin the sheet name based on the string in the column A
Control Countif Function

I have tried various combos of Indirect and concatenate, but I keep getting a ref error.
Im trying to count the number of time a Value is in a multi sheet Range
the formula
=COUNTIF(rangename,Value or cell ref to count)
or
=COUNTIF(SKULIST,A2)
Works if my range "SKULIST" is on a single sheet but returns #VALUE! error if its a multi sheet range
I have a from that work great in PC but if opened in a MAC, some of the functions will not work.
For example, There is one cell with Data validation that based on the value selected in another data validation cell, it should only display all possible options pertaining to value chosen. These are the values: a user select a customer based on customer name. The Data validation will the put the customer number in cell AF3. In another call with Data Validation I have this formula:
"=OFFSET(SHIPTO,MATCH(AF3,SHIPTOColumn,0)-1,2,COUNTIF(SHIPTOColumn,AF3),1)"
SHIPTO is the Name range for the tabs called SHIPTO with "Shipto!$A$1"
SHIPTOColumn is the Name Range for "SHIPTO!$A:$A"
Column A is where the customer numbers are.
This work fine in a PC but not in the MAC using excel 2011
the traditional count if statement doesnt return what I need. I have an array of values that need to be checked.
Column: A B C D E
Data: .25 .49 .18 (Criteria 1 Result) (Criteria 2 Result)
What I need to do is check the data for the following conditions and if it meets the crirteria I need excel to place a 1 in column D or E.
Criteria 1
If any of the coulmn data contains a value less than .5 I need a 1 placed in column D
Criteria 2
If any of the column data contains a value greater than .5 but less than 1.0, I need a 1 placed in Column E. I tried using an IF/ Count If statement, but cant seem to get it to return the result I need.
I am looking for a formula that will take data from one page and graph it on another page. The data I am trying to graph is arranged like so:
A B
1 q 2009.05.01
2 w 2009.05.02
3 w 2009.05.01
4 q 2009.05.01
I am looking for something that will look at column A and if the answer is "q" and then look at column B and if the answer is "2009.05.01" Excel will take that and count it in a specific cell on another page. In the case above, I want Excel to give me the answer of "2" in a designated cell.
I want find the data in some rows that same with one or more cell and automatically fill the data. And for more details, I have attached the examp file (Examp.xls).Antoni
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an excel workbook with 2 worksheets. One worksheet shows the MASTER LIST of COMPLETE Customer Names (e.g. ABB Supplies Incorporated). The other worksheet has information on customers but the customer names typed in are incomplete (e.g. ABC Supplies). I need a macro that would look do a comparison of the customer names in the 2nd worksheet to the Master List worksheet and pull the data (complete name, address, etc.) for those that would match (partial match since company name is 2nd worksheet is usually incomplete).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want the script to find if the value entered in the form is matching the values in column 'A' in the database and if it matches then it needs to select the cell as active cell - to populate the form details. And if there is no matching value found, the script needs to select the last empty cell of the column 'A' to populate the data entered in the form.
1) Form has 10 different fields that needs to be filled by the user.
2) Field 1 - is a text box for 'Request #' to be entered by the user.
3) After filling in all the fields - once clicked on OK, the form should search for the the 'request #' entered on the form in the database (Form and the database are in the same workbook).
4) If the 'Reqeust #' in the Column 'A' matches the the 'Request #' entered in the form, then the matching cell should be selected (Activecell -Were the data can be overwritten, with the new entry)
5)If there is no matching 'Request #' found in the database, the script should loop to select the next available blank cell in column 'A'. So that the form data can be entered.
I am trying to create a formula, but my knowledge of excel formulas is very new! I am trying do create an excel formula which calculates the difference in video view data which I enter, comparing today to yesterday to see the growth.
My column A is dates. My column B is video data.
Is there a way Excel can work out the TODAY date's data and minus YESTERDAY date's data to find the growth?
My thinking is that this would look something like the following, but I'm not sure how it would be written in Excel's formua:
Where Column A is = TODAY (), conduct sum where TODAY () minus data from yesterday (TODAY () -1).
-Find TODAY ()
- FInd TODAY'S associated data
- Find YESTERDAY or TODAY -1
- FInd YESTERDAY'S associated data
- Minus Yesterday from Today to find the difference.
The 1st set is in a column. Nice & tidy all twelve characters in length & alpanumeric
zx0123123123
zz0123123124
zy0123123129
The second set is a mess, taken from a lotus notes inbox from the subject line off an email, eg. there Blah blah zz0123123124 etc etc. What I want to do is do a reconcilliation between the two with a lookup, but have no idea which route to go down to get round the messy data. I have been using =IF(ISNA(MATCH(A1,'[spreadsheet to lookup to.xls]sheet1'!$A:$A,0))," No match"," Match")
but here the data is clean. I have searched teh forum ;o) DaveH & found something about > Instr() but this can't be used in formulas..
I have a table with 500 entries which is some physical properties for some chemicals. What I am needing to do is get something to find out what chemical formula the user has typed in another cell on a separate sheet, then VBA finds the component on this table and picks out information from columns within that row. Some of that data will then be used to do a calculation. The user can select up to 20 components, so VBA needs to be able to do it for 1 or anything in between 20 components. The data which I need to use for further processing is within columns D to J.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a simple database spread sheet and I need to count a column under certain conditions. In one column I have employee names that appear repeatedly, in another I have codes. I want to be able to count how many times the code appears next to the name.
For instance:
If b4:b65000 = Sam Douglas then I want to count how many times different codes appear in the adjacent cell.
Sam Douglas:BI
Sam Douglas:BI
Sam Douglas:SI
Sam Douglas:BI
BI = 3
SI = 1
I need to indicate in a dedicated cell any number I place in the column below it by just scrolling up and down. Example: A1 for the readout cell, A3:A25+ for numbers. The same for as many columns as I need. They are used for a graph and only changing by hand will give me the results I need. Otherwise, I must change each of the readout cells one number at a time to solve. Basically, its find the cursor; an Excel slide pot. IF statements would be difficult in the readout cell as the data could be extremely long, 200 or more.They will not be constant length.

How I amend this line to count rows with actual data in them?
I have a spreadsheet which is fed from an IT system and the length of the header rows seems to vary... i therefore need to start the VBA routine from the first row with data in column A.
