Create Auto Populated List Field Based Off Multiple Fields
Apr 21, 2014
I have two or more fields of data, where parts of them are auto populated based on inputs from elsewhere. That part i have working fine, however the problem arises in taking that information and displaying it as a Bill of Materials list on another tab in my excel file. I want to take the information, and only display it in the BOM tab if that piece of information is being used (ie item count field not being 0). I know how to do that part in a rather simple format, however i'd prefer to make it so that when i have the list, and a certain item isn't used then its not included in the BOM, and an empty space is not left behind. I would prefer this to be all be done automatically by a formula if possible instead of just having to resort to sorting the table every time the tool is being used.
Is this even possible in excel, A quick example doc is attached, shows 2 example fields. i'd like to take the information from those 2 fields. and somehow create a single list, with a single heading along the top, with all row containing a 0 "Unit Count" to be omitted entirely from the list, and not have a blank space where the item should be. Keep in mind these fields may be greater than 2, and may not be position one after the other in a strait down line.
I have a Pivot table that pulls the Avg of two fields for two months, see example below.
Avg Gross $ Avg Net $ Jan 2014 20 10 Feb 2014 30 20
sample 1.png See sample attached.
The Avg Gross and Net is shown by going into the values and selecting "Summarized value by -> Average".
On the right side of this Pivot, what I wanted to do is to show a Avg Gross to Net $ in this pivot. So the formula should take "Avg Gross $" - "Avg Net $" = Avg Gross to Net $.
I am having trouble calculting this new field in the pivot table using a calculated field because the Calculated field pulls the variables from the existing field list and there isn't a field called "Avg Gross/Net"....I need to find a way to calculate the Avg Gross to Net into the Pivot table so I can pull a pivot graph out of it.
In the "Pivot Table Field List" I have the option to "Choose fields to add to report". I have a large number of fields that I want to choose and "Add to Values" - so it is tedious to select each item individually. My question: Is there any possible way select multiple fields at the same time? e.g.
a "select all" option, orhighlighting a range of the available fields (either by dragging or holding the shift key)I've looked / tried above with no luck.
Any Excel Add-Ins out there that might address this? I'm fearing not since my searches have come up empty.
I need a simple macro to use for conditional autofill of cells below the active cell (to the end of the sheet) with the text that is being entered in the active cell.
DESCRIPTION: I have two columns of data, the first (call it Col1), has a word number which is unique to each specific word in a foreign language, every cell in this column has a number in it from 1 to 30000. Each number reoccurs many times in cells over the length of this column.
The other column (call it Col2) is blank. As I type words in english in each cell of this column, I need the macro to autofill the text that I have just entered, into every cell in Col2 where it's Col1 number is a match with the Col1 number where I am typing.
For example, in one row, Col1 has the number "21" and I type in Col2 the word "run". I need the macro to find every row where the number 21 is found in Col1 and automatically enter "run" into Col2 at that location.
The macro must only autofill cells which have no data in them. Preferably from that cell down, although if that is not possible, all cells would work seeing we are only replacing blank cells with data.
Looking to create a calendar in excel and auto-populate the content with specific fields I enter. I know how to create an excel gantt chart but I'm really looking for a calendar view instead of a series of columns with dates. I reviewed the original post on Auto-Populating Excel Calendar but was confused by the instructions. (1) create a calendar in excel and (2) show me how to populate the calendar with fields like (dept and project name) into the dates on the calendar? I have two dates that are important (a due date for the project and when that project will be published). Is there a way to have both dates show info otherwise the most important date will be the publish date?
I am currently building a sheet that requires a drop down box that will auto-populate two separate fields. I have tried to the point of being suicidal to make this work but to no avail.
A detailed explanation:
The worksheet containing the drop down list and fields that need to auto-populate. sheet example.png
The raw data, located on a separate tab in the same workbook. (Note: there are over 1500 rows of data) sheet example 2.png
The drop down box will be in the "Description" column and will contain a list of services my company provides. Once selected it will auto-populate the "Rate" column and the "Item ID" column. The raw data that the list is pulling from is located on a separate tab.
I can make the list just fine, it's easy enough to just go to the Data Validation feature and point to where you want the list and where you want the data to come from, but getting the list to pull the data from different columns and go into the columns on the work sheet is apparently beyond my knowledge of excel. I figured it would just be a simple formula setup through the VLOOKUP formula wizard but I've tried it at least 20 different ways, all of which fail. I've tried HLOOKUP too but it also failed.
I am trying to filter a range of text and copy only those entries from it that meet selected criteria into a new part of my page. The entries will all look like the following but will have varying numbers before the final Equity/Index part:
IBM US 3 C60 Equity IBM US 3 P60 Equity UKX 3 P5000 Index UKX 3 C5000 Index
I have constructed something using a modification of the find nth word function from this site that allows me to filter based on whether the fourth part (or for the third and fourth choices, third part) shows C or P at the beginning and then based on the value that is written after the letter. However, I have to break down the code a bit further to firstly check whether the final word of the string is Index or Equity to decide which word to check for C/P. I was wondering if anyone knew whether there is possibly a more simple way of running a find within one cell than using the nth word function. Would it possibly be a case of making two subs within a different module and then calling them to look for the specific word number based on what I have in F6 (my original equity/index ticker symbol: for example IBM US Equity or UKX Index)? Attaching code below. I'm sure it doesn't make a lot of difference but in case it helps I am currently running Excel 2007 on a Vista machine but I also use it at work on a Win XP PC with 2003.
I have the catalog #s of some products in column A, and I have the brand in column B, Product name in Column C, and the model # in Column D. I want to create a formula that if I select the catalog # it should autopopulate the brand in column B, product name in column C and the model # in column D!!
And I have the brand/product & model # in a different sheet!!
I have a dropdown list selection on the form for types of machines. The list of machines, their sizes and related noise level are in a chart on worksheet 2 and I'd like to automate the form so that when the machine is selected, the related noise level auto populates.
The dropdown box has been put in the form using the data validation function.
I have 2 related columns with one to many relationship, on a tab populated with some data. On another tab I'm referencing these 2 columns. When I populate one column I would like a drop down showing all the related data from the 2nd column of the first tab in the 2nd tab. I'm unable to do a named range as my first column has spaces in its name.
Im struggling to find a formula to populate cells based on values to be checked in two fields (ICODE, COMPANY) as shown below.
In the example here, all records where ever the ICODE = 49, i need to populate the fields(columns) AD1,AD2,AD3 or AD4 with the product name of the same company where the ICODE <> 49. There could be between 1-7 products per company.
ICODE PRODUCT COMPANY AD1 AD2 AD3 AD4 89PENS ABC STATIONERY CO LLC [code]....
The attached example file may be a better alternative to view this problem.
I have a tab called 'Tab1' in which I have column called 'Col1' and 'Col2'.
I have another tab called 'Tab 2' with columns 'ColA' and 'ColB'. When I enter a text in Col1(Tab1) I would like that text to be compared to data in 'ColA' from Tab 2 and when match found then get the corresponding value from ColB and autopopulate it in Col2 of Tab1.
I have two worksheet. One worksheet is a form where in the Field Door No. should be a dropdown list. The list will be retrieve from worksheet Source. Now upon selecting a specific Door No. it should also autopopulate the respective Type, Brand, Serial No., and Type.
First thing i need to know is what should i do on Cell B1 worksheet Form for it to be a drop down list retrieving the Column A on worksheet Source.
Second, upon selecting for example ATC0009 on the drop-down, it should auto-populate like these
Door No. ATC0009 Type AT Crane Brand A Serial 43679 Type Crane
I'm trying to create an autoupdating price list using a part number and a website. I've tried Excel's data import wizard.
Website: WebFLIS - Public Search Sample data Category Chaplain Kits Item Chaplain's Kit, Consumable NIIN 9925-01-326-2855
Price $276.94 Description Also called the ReSuppply Kit
VBA Code that allows me to automatically open the page.
Dim IE As Object Sub submitFeedback3() Application.ScreenUpdating = False Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
Ideally, I'd like to click a button that says "Update Prices" and it will search WebFlis for the NIIN listed and update the price. I have 717 items on my list so updating would be by click only (I think I can write that portion).
If that is not an option, I'd like to be able to click on each item row (think hyperlink) and be able to see the results for that individual item.
Is it possible to set up the second level of a report filter based on the value of the first report filter. I have a pivot table that needs two report filters: first is the location and the second is the department. What I want to do is have the user be able to select the location and then only show valid departments for that location. I know that this is possible if I set up a form and have the second field be a query against the first. I can create a calculated field but I cannot put that in the report filter area.
I have a spreadsheet with a heap of raw data in it. I need to perform a search based on a customer name, then return certain columns from the raw data IF the customer name is matched in one column, AND a special flag name is matched in a second column. The customer name is always a single entry for the purpose of the query, however the special flag must be checked against a possible list of values in a table. I know this is hard to explain, and I can't add attachments to my posts, so I have created a sample document and placed in in dropbox:
to be able to do is have a stock control sheet that tells me how much of 1 item we have in stock which is easy, the hard part comes when this stock is sold as this stock can be sold to a number of different customers e.g.
i need a way of saying that we have 10,000 pens but if we sold 1,000 then we can click a button (macro maybe) and that will automatically see that we have 10,000 for that line and we have only sold 1,000 so we need a line inserting saying that we have 9,000 remaing and so on.... The sheet needs to record who these goes to though, that the reason i was thinking of adding a row
If this doesnt make sense then i am happy to answer your questions?
i can upload an example excel sheet if required if someone can explain how i do this?
- The macro should then try to find this data on the worksheet "Sheet2" in the same workbook. This data on Sheet2 is essentially a table with four columns "Number" (Col A), "Country" (Col B), "Consol" (Col C) and "Bypass" (Col D) but can have around 70k rows
- It should look for Number first, and if its not found, the macro should insert the message "Update OK" in cell A8 on Sheet1
- If it finds at least 1 row for the Number but the Country is the same for all the rows and it matches the value input for Country on Sheet1, then it insert the message "Multiple Records - Update OK" in cell A8 on Sheet1
- If it finds at least 1 row for the Number but the Country is the same for all the rows and it does not match the value input for Country on Sheet1, and if all Bypass fields in Sheet2 have "Y" but the Bypass field input on Sheet1 has "N", then put "Multiple Records - Update OK" in cell A8 on Sheet1
- If it finds at least 1 row for the Number but the Country is the same for all the rows and it does not match the value input for Country on Sheet1, and if all Bypass fields in Sheet2 have "N" but the Bypass field input on Sheet1 has "Y", then put "Multiple Records - Bypass - Do Not Update" in cell A8 on Sheet1
- If it finds at least 1 row for the Number but the Country is the same for all the rows that have a Bypass value of "N" and it does match the value input for Country on Sheet1 then put "Multiple Records - No Need to Update" in cell A8 on Sheet1
- If it finds at least 1 row for the Number but the Country is different for all the rows that have a Bypass value of "N", then put "Multiple Records - Refer" in cell A8 on Sheet1
