Creating Button To Generate Spreadsheet From Exported Data?

I have two spreadsheets of data I export regularly from an outside source. I want to consolidate the data from these two sheets into one large sheet with all the data in a more concise form bringing in only the data related to certain parts I am conducting analysis on. I have a list of these parts already. My first thought on how to do this would be to use the list in an entry for an input box and have that list be the index for a for loop in which i searched for a part code, copied the entire corresponding row, and pasted it back into the master sheet. I have gone through and tried to do this but I am running into problems because sometimes I have multiple rows of data that correspond to a single part number. I have attached a template of the way that the data should look in the master file with the multiple rows of details that correspond to just one part entry.
In MS Excel 2011 for Macintosh can I assign a macro to an object, such that if the user clicks the object it runs the macro? That is creating a button on the spreadsheet that will execute a macro.
I need to generate a microsoft word document from the data encoded in my excel spreadsheet. I am currently using MS office 2007.
in the Excel Spreadsheet from columns C to F "a) b) c) d)" was not typed but in the word document it automatically appears before the choices encoded in excel. Another thing is that some of the choices typed in the excel spreadsheet are in bold font and I want it to be generated in word document with the bold font as well.
By the way I am planning to use this technique to create a 100 item multiple choice exam for my students as I find using EXCEL to generate the document a lot easier than creating the test manually in WORD.
I am a personal loans officer and have created a worksheet to input a range of information about an application. The information is personal details and details about the loan. The data I input runs down Column D [with line breaks to seperate the answers into categories] with the question beside it in Column C.
I do this for every new application as I use it for reporting on my loans as well as mail merge to produce documents for the loan.
Currently I am doing one per loan but would like to have a button at the bottom of the page that once clicked, it will push the data onto another worksheet so that all my loans for that month are on the one spreadsheet. The data will be pushed onto a row, not a column, but it will also need to find the next available row to put the data on.
Once the button is clicked, the first worksheet will clear ready for the next loan to input and the data will transfer to the 2nd spreadsheet. And, if possible, on the first sheet will be a drop down list of all the current loans so I can recall any application details to the first sheet if needed to update details. So if the 'loan number inputed' already exists, it wont create a new line on the 2nd spreadsheet, but will know just to update the fields.
I am creating a spread sheet with a large amount of data.
In column a I have a list of managers, in B I have a list of employees and C, I have a list of activities that have been recorded throughout the day.
What I want to do is create a list (on a new sheet) so in column A that would bring back all the managers. Then in column B, bring back the employee that is tied to the manager from column A and finally in column C, bring back the activity that is tied to the employee.
I know how I can do this by doing list validation with INDIRECT, but with the large amount of data that I have this would take forever in a day.
I have some monthly sales data (max 200 lines per month). The sales are from numerous suppliers (we sell on behalf of others and take a commission). Each month the sales/commission are reported back to the suppliers that have actually sold something!
The problem I have is that some supplier may have sold one item and others may have sold ten (so a simple mail merge is out of the question).
I can create the data in Excel quite easily but currently have to copy and paste this into Word. I am sure this is quite simple, but I cannot get anything to work.
I want a Macro that I would like to assign it to Control Button on Spreadsheet 1. When the user clicks on this Button only "Selected data" i.e. Cells A3, B4, C5, E5 will be transferred to Spreadsheet 2. The data transferred into Spreadsheet 2 should be inserted in the first available row and hence not override other data. Also, I have a question, both files will be sitting on the same shared network path however, for the update to happen to we need to have both files opened at the same time? If yes can we design something to update Spreadsheet 2 without having it opened?
I have a spreadsheet where the data held in column A is an export from another system and the exported data looks like this:
??????? Stn ??????? ??????? ??
What i would like to be able to do is to split out the data in column A so that the text before the 'Stn' (but including Stn) are shown in column C with text after 'Stn' is shown in column D. i have looked at using =LEFT, =MID or =RIGHT with =FIND but the problem i have is that the text prior to the letters Stn could be one, two, three or four words and the text after could be similar.
I have a set of exported data from a Project Management SW (activecollab). The result is an excel .xslx file with a table inside with a lot of cells I am not going to use. Additionally, what I would like to do is creating new tables on other sheets that use only the data I want from the export. For example, I have two projects and three employees. I want to create three tables with the names of the three employees. In each table I want the tasks done by them and the time they will spend on them in order to create a Gantt chart. I need a solution that allows me to create new tables with selected data from a bigger cluster (the export). you do not need to give me the exact solution, I only need to know whether it is possible or not and where could I get the info to do what I want.
i have a spreadsheet with data that is exported to Excel via our in house investment system, the report looks something like below, though real data consists of 2000 rows of data. Where we have O/S in Bank this means these entries are all physical bank entries i.e statement credit and statement debit, and where we have O/S not in Bank these are all accounting entries, i.e. Ledger Debit and Ledger Debit.
What i am after is a macro that will insert a column next to Team and then input SDR SCR on all statement entries and LDR and LCR on all Ledger entries, the final report should look like the second spreadsheet....
Creating a formula that would generate a perfect and full circle - see attached picture example. The circle needs to remain centered in the X,Y axis. Also the circle diameter will either be 1, 2, 3, or 4 units large depending on user selection.
I have a spreadsheet that contains an email address (Each row will most likley have the same email address but there are occasions when it could be different). Ideally I want a button that when clicked will open up an email, popoulate it with the persons email (that is in a specific column and row), add a subject and some text to the main body of the email and then attach the spreadhseet itself.
I am imagining a spreadsheet with the equivalent of an info button in each cell of column A. The idea is the user clicks the button to open a User Form containing additional info about the entitity represented by values on that row.
E.g., Row 1 is labels, row 2 is all about Bob, 3 is about Jane, 4 is about Freddy. If the user clicks the info button on row 3 then a user form opens up and displays additonal info about Jane.
I am wondering if there is a way for VB to identify which row the clicked button was on without having to write individual code for each button telling VB which row the button was on.
I am hoping there is some form button property I can reference or interrogate which will give me a cell address; a button.position property or similar. This will obviously save me a lot of coding if VB can dynamically determine which row is being interrogated as there will be a couple of hundred of these to start with, potentially thousands. (I realise Access is a better solution for database interrogation, but I have to work with excel at present).
Ultimately, the user form that the button calls up will have a list box on it and I want the list box to default to the entity on that row, and allow the user to browse the other entities if they want to.
If there isn't a solution for this I will just have a single info button for the users to click that opens the user form and then they can select the entity from a list box. But I would like to offer the "intelligent display" option but don't relish coding the equivalent of several hundred "You clicked button four hundred and seventy six, default to info card for bert".
I've been using excel for quite sometime but have never tried the macro system or posting VBA code so I'm wanting to get my feet wet with a little project.
I want to make a button on a sheet that when pressed generates a random number between 3 and 18, ideally it would make a new set of random numbers if pressed again.
I want cell D28 to be text of the location to the file selected through CommandButton1.. tia
This is what I have so far:
Code: Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Dim browse As Long Set Application.GetOpenFilename("All PDF files (*.pdf*), *.pdf*", , _ "Choose a Filename") = browse ActiveSheet.Range("D28") = browse End Sub
I'm trying to set up a system of sorts to track "services"
At the top of my 'new service" page, I need a button, which I then need to have a macro run on.
Sheet 1 is basically where I'd be entering the info, and sheet 2 where it would be stored. The button at the top is called Generate New "service' Number. This then needs to generate a new number on sheet 2 in A2 (then once 2 is populated, generate new in 3, then 4, then 5 etc...
I have a macro on Save Service Button at the bottom, which transposes the data into what would be used as a database to store all the services. That Macro then also needs to only transpose and paste data into the row corresponding with the "service number".
I've created a userform following the tutorial http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa192538.aspx And a Find button which reads a string from a textbox, searches for it on the worksheet, and then displays the data for that row in the userform. I'm trying to work out how to do "Find Next", and it seems complicated. I know there are other techniques, such as filtering, or displaying all the found data in a dialog for user to choose which one to edit. But these are not suitable for my project. Here's the code for my Find button
I am using the following piece of VBA code in Excel 2007 to automatically generate an email when a button is pushed:
Sub SendEMail() Dim Email As String, Subj As String Dim Msg As String, URL As String Dim r As Integer, x As Double r = ActiveCell.Row 'Get the email address Email = Cells(r, 3)
[Code] .....
The button to launch this code sits in cell AK7. What I would like to do is have the macro copy the email address present in cell E7 into the email address section of my created email. In addition I would like the reference provided in cell AJ7 to appear in the Message Subject part of the generated email in the format " RCS Reference contents of cell AJ7".
I need some help, I know very little about macros but is it possible to create folders/directories to a certain path using the text in an excel spreadsheet cell? For example, if cell a2 has a street address and cell b2 has a city, can it automatically create a directory in the path of my choice using that data? If yes, can it go down the the rows and create directories until it is done?
Please help as I have hundreds of directories to create.
I am trying to create CSV files from Excel spreadsheet for each tab. But when I convert these CSV files, text in cell is limiting to 255 characters, in otherwords it is getting truncated after 255characters. I am using Excel 2003 version.
And also when convereted these windows CSV files to UNIX csv files using the command "DOS2UNIX", some charaters becoming special characters. For exmaple, I have the actual text as "If AEENDTC ne '' then do; " and is becoming "If AEENDTC ne æÆ then do; " Do you have any idea why it is doing this.
I have a spreadsheet that I need to add new rows everytime I have a new client. I a formula in the N column and a formula in the F column that I would like to automatically insert itself into the new rows.
The problem is this: I have arranged my table so that I can look at clients alphabetically, and according to other date... BUT now it wont let me insert a new row when I have a new client!!!
Is there anyway of keeping it so that I can insert a new row into my table, but preserve all of the formulas that I want automatically put into both the F and N column?
I think I'm just missing something obvious here but I want to calculate commission based on £1 Plus 10% of Hammer Price. That bit's easy but I need it to ignore the hammer price if blank. In other words if I leave the hammer price empty, at the moment the sheet adds £1 to the commission cell.
Currently I'm working on functionality in my staff holiday spreadsheet and I've come up with this amazing idea for a calendar overview for month by month. Now the sheets I currently have is summary and jan to dec.
I plan on adding the sheets Jan (Cal) to Dec (Cal) now this is when my idea gets nifty - The calendar view will import the information from the month table and will show it on the calendar.
For example X has 1 holiday in July for the 20th - this will show up on the calendar as "x on holiday", I'm still working with spreadsheets so I'm not sure if excel is powerful enough to do this - but is this actually possible?
Is there a way to make a simple text analyser that will return the number of times each word is used in a sentence or paragraph within a cell?
I use excel to write short paragraphs to upload onto social network sites and I would like a formula or program that tells me how many times each word has been used over a number of cells, to avoid repetition. Is there a way to do this?
How to create a button on the Ribbon (after you have created a group), and connect this button with a VBA code. So you can avoid going to developer->Macros->find the code and click run.
Is it possible to create a find button, so that a user can enter say the first two letters of a name and the vba finds and replaces the rest from a table and also add the telephone number in the box below it?
If there is more than one option to bring up a choice box asking the user to select between them.
I have attached a spreadsheet to show what I mean.
I have been given a workbook that contains say 10 sheets. The first sheet is a summary sheet that will contain a 'Print' button. The idea is that when the Print button is selected all the sheets that's have been filled out will be printed.
For example.
I have a workbook that has 10 sheets to fill out. The user has filled out 7 out of the 10 sheets and when selecting the Print button, I require only the 7 completed sheets to print.
I thought the best way to go about this was to look at 1 particular cell on each sheet. If the cell is blank, do not print the sheet, otherwise do so.
I want to be able to have a listbox on a sheet (whether this is already on the sheet or created by a macro I don't care), and have a button next to it. Once the list box has been filled in (with multiple selections) I want the user to press the button, the list box and button disappears and the items selected in the list box are placed into consecutive cells underneath each other.
First problem: To start with I have tried to create the listbox and button using VB
Sub lbtest()
Dim lb As Object, ButCon As Object
Set lb = Sheets("Sheet1").Shapes.AddFormControl(xlListBox, 100, 100, 150, 100) lb.ControlFormat.MultiSelect = xlSimple lb.ControlFormat.ListFillRange = "M1:M8" Set ButCon = Sheets("Sheet1").Shapes.AddFormControl(xlButtonControl, 255, 100, 100, 25) With ButCon .OnAction = "Inactive" .PrintObject = False End With
I’m trying to create a Forward button for each of the sheets in my Excel workbook, to make it easier for users to move from one tab to the next (without having to click on the tab- names in the bottom left corner of Excel). I know it’s very simple to start recording a macro and click on the next tab, and repeat this process for all the tabs in the spreadsheet. But what if you have a workbook with, say, 20 tabs – would you have to record one macro to take you from Sheet 1 to Sheet 2, another to move you from Sheet 2 to Sheet 3, and so on all the way up to Sheet 20? This would be very time-consuming. Is there some VBA code which always moves you to the next available tab in the workbook? Or is there no alternative to recording a separate macro for each individual tab?
