Display Or Hide Shapes Based On Cell Value Without VBA?
Aug 8, 2012
I have a map of the US composed of 50 shapes (one for each state). I need each shape to appear or disappear based on a value in a corresponding cell. I can't use VBA for this as it needs to function for users in a high-security Excel 2003 which doesn't allow macros.
Can Excel Draw Shapes or Angles based on Data? I have a radiation Excel file that solves for Radiation intensity using Distance and shielding as reducing factors. Similar to a circle of light being less intense with distance so is radiation. I need excel to draw a circle from a point specified based on a value I give. For example at 1 ft I might have 500 R in 1 hour (life threatening!) At 16 feet I have about 2 R in 1 hour (not safe for too long). These circles would be overlayed on an map. I would like to draw a new circle at various distances, simialar to a bullseye. I would also like a triangle drawn based on angles and SIN / COS / TAN formulas
I want to write a macro that uses shapes to hide zeros; I have seen this done before but don't really understand how to set it up for myself.
On my sheet, there is a list of funds (Cells A4 to A79), a mixture of which will make up any given portfolio. Cell A1 houses a drop down list of portfolios. When I change cell A1, the numbers are automatically updated, as they are pulled from other worksheets in the spreadsheet. I want to be able to have the funds with zeroes next to them be automatically hidden. I believe there is a way to do this using shapes.
I am developing a multiple sheet workbook with lots of shapes - with another person. The shapes are moving if he opens the file when I save it and they also move when I open the file after he saves it. So, I coded in the beforesave function, I save .top and .left position of every shape to a hidden sheet. On workbook open, I re-position all Shapes based on their saved locations. Both of our screens are set to the same resolution... What I think it is - display scale. His is set to 100%, and mine is set to 125%! Anyway to adjust for this? I cannot find out how to find / change the display scale with vba.
I have an workbook with many sheets. each sheet contains loads of checkboxes, dropdowns, option buttons, groupboxes ... and they are created using a macro when the workbook is opened. all this works fine. Now I've grouped different rows based on their level of importance. Here's the glitch. whenever I select a group level, the rows get hidden, but not the shapes & objects present on them. Instead, they just jump to the row above or below and overlap the other shapes.
I am trying to allow uses of a spreadsheet to be able to select one control button which would in turn disable another one via check boxes however the control buttons do not re-enable when the undo check box is selected.
In excel 2007, I have an embedded image on a sheet which I want to make it hidden by default. When someone hovers over a particular cell say cell B3, then image should be displayed below this cell (sort of hyperlinking) and when the cursor or activell cell is not in B3 it should be hidden again. What steps/technique/VBA code will make it happen ?
Im trying to create shapes Rectangles and Squares with different colours within an excel sheet, where the length and height of the shapes is generated by input values.
Also is it possible to create 3D shapes, again where the size of the shap is generated by input cell values.
formula on the attached spreadsheet (Questions UK) I would like the following to happen:
If D3 is YES then rows 91 to 319 hide If D3 is NO then rows 6 to 89 hide If D4 is YES then rows 6 to 89 hide and 164 to 319 hide If D4 is NO then rows 91 to 162 hide If D5 is YES then row 6 to 162 hide If D5 is NO then row 164 to 319 hide
I would like a macro where I it will examine Cells A8 down to A27 to see if there is a value. If there isn't a value, I want that row hidden. I would like for it to always run (i.e. if a value is put into that cell, the row reappears, otherwise it is always hidden).
I need to display a set of cells based on the value of two drop down cells i have. As I am not very good at english and worse at explinations, I'll try via screen shots...
I have two dropdowns (C4 and C6) that will indicate what table to use (Second sheet / screenshot). I want that "table" to display in the yellow box on the first page. To complicate matters, some options do not have a CLA option - those starting with X. As there are 24 different outcomes and each is 3x9 if/then statements just dont seem to cut it.
I am in need of a macro to hide worksheets that do not match a certain cell value (which I have range named) in the "input data sheet". If this value matches cell value on the other worksheets, then hide all other worksheets and keep the "valid" worksheet visible
NVS_SCN is the range name that needs to be compared to the value in P4 of worksheets 2 thru 4
Example: NVS_SCN (located on the LANDFILL_DATA wksht) = RC_SOUTHLF I want the Macro to hide all worksheets except for the South Region LF_VOL_Trend sheet,
if NVS_SCN = RC_MWESTLF then hide all but Midwest Region LF_Vol_Trend
I am attaching a file. I have seen macros to "unhide" or "Hide Rows or Columns" but I am not adept enough to figure out how to utilize range names and hide all but the one I want. As for "recording" the macro, I didn't know how to do the compare part.
i have been able to get most of my VB work on my own (i'm learning). Currently I'm having a bit of difficulty in hiding a row based on a cell value, potentially due to cells being merged.
I'd like to select from a dropdown cell to filter on a row's value. Attached you will find a sample sheet that works named "Working" in it's current state and the one "TEST" that does not filter every other line item.
I am looking for some macro code that will hide all rows except for those with certain text (i.e. W-NT or S1-DT). The cell range to search is C22-OU500.
I am trying to auto hide rows in a spread sheet. the start row will always be 55 and the end row will be 55 + the value of cell A38 in sheet titled "Main".
I have 2 equation objects created with microsoft equation 3.0. I have named the equation objects Eqn9 and Eqn10. I also have an if function, what i would like to do is if a number in cell AC58 is greater than 0.3 a macro runs and hides Eqn9 and shows Eqn10, similarly if the number in cell Ac58 is less than or equal to 0.3 the macro hides Eqn 10 and shows Eqn9.
I have two bitmap images, and I would like to show only one image at a time, based on the content of another cell's pull-down list. If the user selects "AIR", then display the AIR image. If the user selects "SERVO", then display the SERVO image.
Depending on the result of a formula in R67, one of three things will occur. If the result is a 1, UserForm1 is displayed. If the result is a 2, UserForm2 is displayed. If it is nothing, nothing happens. Ok, I can do that.
However, with the code below, whenever I select any cell, and there is a 1 or a 2 in R67, the userform pops up. I only want it to pop up if I change a value in C6 which in turn changes the result of the formula in R67.
Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range) If Range("R67").Value = 1 Then Run "UserForm1" End If If Range("R67").Value = 2 Then Run "Userform2"
[Code] .......
I've tried setting a monitored range. I've tried the code below in one form or another and it didn't work.
Code: If Not Intersect(Target, Range("C6, R67")) Is Nothing Then Macro
I have a workbook that can open a URL into IE when a project number is entered in an input box.
What I would like to happen is that if the project number entered does not have a URL against it and the value is #N/A, then the message box will display "Project does not exist". However if the number does exist, I want a different message box to be displayed which is a yes/no box.
The code below is what I have tried which works fine if the cell value is #N/A but when it is not it throws an Run-Time error 13: Type mismatch
Code: Sub SearchPidsMessageBox() Dim Answer As String Dim MyNote As String
I am trying to create a table, based on what people predict in sports games. I have most of it in place, but I have hit a brick wall where one part of it is concerned. For example, cells M43:M56 have the scores for each week of what one person predicted., so it could be 2,5,7,2 and so on. What I then need the table to do is determine which round or week it is and display the relevant score. So based on the above let's say it's round 3, and his score would be 7 for the week, and the cell to the right of this shows the week's score plus his total score so far.
In this example on Sheet 2, I'm trying to hide rows 1-6 if 'E6' is 0, and hide rows 15-26 if 'E18' is 0. These cell values are equal to the same cell in Sheet 1.
I've tried different codes I've found online, but I'm not very experienced with VBA so I can't get it to work. I can get rows 1-6 to hide, but it doesn't do it automatically whenever a zero is inputed into Sheet 1. It only works if I enter something into another cell on Sheet 2.
VB:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) If Range("E6") = 0 Then Rows("1:6").Select Selection.EntireRow.Hidden = True
I have a spreadsheet with two bitmap images inserted into it. In cell E2, I will enter a number, either a 1 or a 2. if I enter a 1, I want only the first image to be visible. If I enter a 2, I only want the second image to be visible. Is there a way to accomplish this (hopefully without the need for macros)? I've attached a spreadsheet as an example of what I'm trying to do. Also, note that I'd like the images to be stacked on top of each other so that they show up in the same place regardless of wether there's a 1 or a 2 in cell E5
