View 1 Replies View RelatedMy colleagues are working on multiple projects at once. The projects got different priority, so I'm looking for a formula that change the cell color if a person is working on it, depending on the project's priority.
For example if John is working on project: East(pri.1), South(pri.2) and West(pri.3). On East he got 5 remaining hours (cell E8). Then i would like that cell to turn red. For South green and West red.
In excel 2007, I have an embedded image on a sheet which I want to make it hidden by default. When someone hovers over a particular cell say cell B3, then image should be displayed below this cell (sort of hyperlinking) and when the cursor or activell cell is not in B3 it should be hidden again. What steps/technique/VBA code will make it happen ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a number value in (e.g.) cell A1, and I want to display it in cell B1.
The number in A1 updates automatically from a website (and through a few regexp and other functions). Most of the time it displays a number, but sometimes it can be an error if for example the website connection doesn't work or something else is wrong.
I want to display the number of cell A1 in cell B1, but if the number in A1 is an error, I don't want to display an error, or a zero, or a dash, or anything of the sort you'd normally do, like =IFERROR(A1,"error"). I want to see the number there was in B1 before the error occurred. In other words I want to update the value of B1 only if there is a number to update with.
I have two sheets. sheet2 is a lookup table. sheet1 is information sheet. i have created a userform where a user inputs data into 3 textboxes and clicks a button. i have the code for transferring the data from the textboxes into row after the last used row on sheet1, columns a,b,c. in columns d and e i have vlookup code that takes the value in column c and performs the lookup function to return values found in sheet2. this all works fine.
I am trying to display the vlookup results in a 4th textbox on my userform.
If I use this code:
[Code] ......
I receive a type mismatch error
if i use THIS code:
[Code] ..........
if works fine!?! what gives?
I am trying to hide/display text by using form fields. I swiped the idea from a spreadsheet I obtained from a vendor and thought I would extend it to suit my purpose.
When I check the box for "table one", I'd like for the data that I have associated with it to display. When I uncheck the box, I would like for that data to be hidden. The goal is to be able to choose one data source and see at a glance which fields come from that source and what their names are. The formulas that currently exist for the cells in column I do a nice job of putting text in a field when the box is checked, but I don't want to have to rewrite the formula in the cell if/when the source of the data changes. It's a lot of long schema/table/field names. Maybe that's the only way, though...
I scrubbed and mocked up column J to try to demonstrate. It's sorta color coded.
And it might be that using form fields is not the best way to hide/display text based on source type.
I have an excel workbook that has multiple worksheets that is linked to our in-house system via ODBC and it refreshes every 5 minutes with up to date sales data.

My boss wants me to create a macro to hide columns if there is a "X" on top of the column labels. The macro should be in toggle mode whereby the next pressing of the macro will unhide the hidden column.
There are more than 50 columns in my actual worksheet. The macro has to check column by column whether there is "X" marked on top and hide it if so.
The next pressing of the macro should then unhide all the hidden columns.
I am using GETPIVOTDATA function with an incomplete pivot table. The pivot table will eventually be complete but in the mean time i need the cells that are returning the #REF! error to actually display "0". Any way I can do this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm managing a World Cup Prediction League and have been trying to create a spreadsheet that will eventually feed in to a league, positioning each player in descending order. However, I would like to use three columns to determine how to position the players.
EG.
Priority 1 - Column D - Total Points (Rank from Highest to Lowest)
(if there are players with equal Total Points in column D, then)
Priority 2 - Column F - Correct Scores (Rank from Highest to Lowest
(if there are still players with equal value after Total Points and Correct Scores, then)
Priority 3 - Column F - Incorrect Scores (Lowest to Highest)
I've tried for hours to work this out but can't. It would save me hours of work each day
I have attached the document : WC Prediction League EXAMPLE.xlsx
I have to sort the data as follows:
DI has top priority, MATT is next and SAM is last in the priority list. I attach the list of data and desired result.
If the value in Column H changes then move the value from it's original location which would be either in J, K or L from there to the column corresponding with the value in H (reference 1=J, 2=K, 3=L).
So, in the file, if H3 were to be changed to Priority 3 then I want the value to move from J3 to L3 and if it were to be changed to Priority 2 then I want the value to move from J3 to K3. The formula needs to work on all variations ie priority 2 changing to 1 or 3 for the whole sheet. There is conditional formatting - would be nice to keep it but no big deal.
First post here and I hope to find a solution
I have 2 columns with data. The first one has 16000 data (6 digit numbers), which are 2 or 3 or 4 times the same (duplication). The second column has a list with name folders.
Question: How can I delete the duplicate/triplicate entries, and leave only the one I want, according to a priority list I have of name folders?
Excel 2003.
I have been struggling for an hour how to hide a number to text macro in a way that only macro result is displayed in a cell.
(I have one 2-3 years old xls, where I have managed with task, but now can't figure out how and how to unhide the macro
Can it be password protected somehow?
I'm trying to get one more feature added to this priority queue tool that a forum member created. Essentially, this attached spreadsheet is a dynamic task/priority list that will change on the fly. See the original thread here: [URL]
The only missing feature is the ability to delete an entry and have all other entries below it change up a rank.
The attached spreadsheet is the almost completed solution
Example:
Original
-----------
Item D - 1
Item B - 2
Item E - 3
Item A - 4
Item C - 5
Remove item B
-----------
Item D - 1
Item E - 2
Item A - 3
Item C - 4
Basically, I want cell A1 to display the message "Macros must be enabled for this document to display properly", then have that text replaced with a picture (jpeg logo) if macros are enabled. I know I need to put the code in the Workbook_Open sub, but I keep getting the "error 1004, cannot modify visible property of picture object" when I try to tinker with "visible = true".
*EDIT* - The picture must be embedded in the spreadsheet somehow, and hidden from view when macros are disabled. (Having the picture crammed into a single cell at IV65536 is fine.)
Thoughts?
I have a list of issues and depending on their priority would require a different target closure date e.g. low priority = 90 days, medium = 45 days, High = 10 days.
So if I have the following columns:
Issue No (Unique Ref #)
Date Raised
Priority (Low/Medium/High)
Target Closure (based on the pre-determined criteria as detailed in above paragraph)
Can somebody suggest a formula to enter in the "Target Closure" column so it is automated?
Each item (row) in my sheet contains a logged date in column A, and a priority Level in Column G - which is via a data validation drop down (1 to 3).
What I would like to do is create a conditional format based on what the priority level is, and whether it has expired its allowed resolution time based on the logged date.
For example a Level 1 priority requires a 1 day fix, a level 2 requires a 5 day fix and a level 3 requires a 10 day fix.
If the priority level is a 1 and the logged date is over 1 day old i need the whole row to change colour. If the priority level is a 2 and the logged date is over 5 days old I need it to change colour, and if the Priority level is a 3 and the logged date is over 10 days old I need it to change colour. The colour can be the same each time, but I just need to know how to get it to trigger.
I think I have used an IF(AND( formula in the past, but cannot remember how to do it.
Tried to call this post Hide #N/A but it wouldn't let me.
I have a sheet with links to other pages.
One of the results comes back as the dreaded #N/A.
The formula says ='Andrew Whi'!F31. I know how to do IF formulas but how do I say
When ='Andrew Whi'!F31 equals 0 show nothing.
I know the N/A will disappear when the other sheets are populated, but I won't work with this workbook myself and I've already got emails saying "there are errors" so blanks would be ideal.
I have a simple spreadsheet to track my mileage. It has a column calculating miles driven since the last fill-up. The "miles driven" formula is simply =B4-B3 (current odometer reading minus previous odometer reading.)
Until I input my current odometer reading, the following row's "miles driven" column displays the previous odometer reading as negative value. Example:
ROW 2: Current Odometer Reading = 53,000
ROW 3: Current Odometer Reading = 53,200; Miles Driven = 200
ROW 4: Current Odometer Reading = blank (awaiting input); Miles Driven displays as -53,200
ROW 5: Current Odometer Reading = blank (awaiting input); Miles Driven = blank
How do I hide that negative value & just display a blank cell?
I know how to keep other types of error values from displaying (zero values, #DIV0!, etc.)how to hide this single pesky negative.
I have been using this code for a long time in Excell that came with OfficeXP very sucessfully. I just upgraded to Office 2003 and this code will not work.
Sub HideCells()
'This converts weeks with no production to an error value
'in row 14 then hides the column that holds the error value
'This is to create a dynamic graph
On Error Resume Next
Rows(14).SpecialCells(xlCellTypeFormulas, xlErrors).EntireColumn.Hidden = True
Rows(14).SpecialCells(xlCellTypeFormulas, xlNumbers).EntireColumn.Hidden = False
ActiveSheet.Calculate
ActiveSheet.Next.Select
End Sub
My wife is trying to use an Excel Spreadsheet to help teaching fractions and decimals to children.
She wants a cell where the children enter the numerator and a cell where they enter the denominator and a cell where the result (to two decimal places) is shown. I have designed an appropriate sheet but would like to "fancy it up" a little.
If the denominator cell is empty, the result cell shows the error message "#DIV/0!".
I'd like this message to be hidden until the children have entered both a numerator and a denominator.
The numerator is in cell D2, denominator is in cell D6 and result is displayed in merged cells C8 - E8.
I've tried conditional formatting the cell with white text if the cell is zero and black if it is non-zero and also tried to specify white text if the cell value is equal to "#DIV/0!" but both do not do what I want.
If there was a way to specify white text for this cell if another cell was zero, that would do it too (ie. if cell D6=0 then conditionally format cells C8-E8 to be white text).
I've also tried a rather inelegant solution where the denominator cell has a "dummy value" (say 0.1) and then conditionally formatted this cell to make the text white (so that it doesn't show up). The results cell can then be conditionally formatted with two conditions: 1. If cell = 0 then white text and 2. if cell is non-zero black text. However, this means that as soon as any number is entered into the numerator, the results cell becomes visible.
Example. Initially cell D2 is blank, D6 has "dummy" value 0.1 and results cell (C8 - E8) has the value 0 in it (0 / 0.1 =0) conditionally formatted to be "invisible".
When a positive number is entered into cell D2 (the numerator) such as 2, the result (2 / 0.1 = 20) is non-zero and so 20.00 is displayed.
How can I hide the error message "#DIV/0!" until the denominator is no longer zero?
Im trying to use the following code to hide rows on my sheet however its just crashes my sheet:
Private Sub CommandButton2_Click()
Dim Ws As Worksheet
BeginRow = 1
ChkCol = 6
For Each Ws In Worksheets
EndRow = Ws.Range("AW" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
For RowCnt = BeginRow To EndRow
Ws.Cells(RowCnt, ChkCol).EntireRow.Hidden = Ws.Cells(RowCnt, ChkCol).Value = "Open"
Next RowCnt
Next Ws
End Sub
Basically, from row 3 onwards I want to hide rows where AW does not contain 'Open'.
I have a formulae set up on a sheet to calculate the average of the row. When there are no values in the row, it comes up with # DIV/0! as you cannot divide by 0 which I know. Is there a way to not show this until values are entered?

I need a program for my user form such that it displays an error message.
I have created an user form with employee name ,task and remarks.
I need a program in such a way if an user clicks the "submit" button without entering all the fields in the user form, an "error message" should be displayed.
The submit button has to work only if all the fields are filled by the user.
Just looking at the first or second Column, need to Hide all ROWS which either contain "#VALUE!" or "N/A".... The sheet data changes for any age the user input...
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen the whole row in excelsheet is full for particular date that means all the values of columns (Legal Charge,GA and DNM) have been entered for particular date then display an error message if the another user tries to enter the values for the same date .
It means the user can enter the values for same date only if values of Legal Charge,GA and DNM are empty, otherwise an error message should pop up.
