Duplicate Numbers On Single Row?
Mar 3, 2012
With exception to Duplicate numbers on a single row, or column. I am hoping I can check an entire row against other rows, to see idf the same number are repeated.
Unlike the Lotto, this is about Safety boxes, where I have sequential numbering such as the following:
Row2:5,11,15,16,19,35
Row16: 2,8,12,17,18,33,
Row102: 2,6,8,14,22,44
Row645: 2,6,8,14,22,44
Notice rows 102 and 645
I can't believe all of our staff missed the duplicate lines 102 and 645 of duplicate Although these row numbers were rows 2, 16, 102, & 245

I created a spreadsheet for use by the shipping department where I work. We are trying to prevent pulling and shipping the incorrect item to the customer. This is how it works. The employee downloads a CSV file containing items that have been purchased from our website and imports the file into the excel. Then the item is pulled and the employee scans the item's barcode into the spreadsheet named "SCAN." Formulas and code on the "reference" sheet look for the SKU number in the list from the CSV file while others create a consolidated list of SKUs that have been scanned, SKUs that have a problem and need to go to customer service, and SKUs from the CSV file that have yet to be scanned. Some of the formulas in this workbook have been borrowed from forums like this and altered to fit my needs - I'll admit I'm not even entirely sure how they work.
Occasionally a SKU is scanned in twice and not always sequentially which will effect the total item count. It can be very difficult to find the duplicates in the list.
I would like for any value that appears more than once in column B of the 'SCAN' sheet to be highlighted. I have tried to do this, but to no avail.
Scan Below
FWD: CS?
If FWD: CS, state reason below:

Through a query I extract data from an oracle database. This database creates a record for every unique Article_Batch_Pallet_Faultnumber combination. Through a filter macro I create a new format on a different worksheet which creates a record for every uniqe Article_Batch_Pallet combination. I need a searchfunction to get the faultnumbers in the same row.

I am using old macro code in excel written several years ago. I am trying to educate myself to update and improve the macros I am using but not making much progress. This macro is used to record data from a DDE link to a Data Acquisition System. The D-AQ system sends the data points to r5c3:r5c9 typically. The macro then records the data points in those cells to the next row in sequence on a specific time interval. However, the macro is recording duplicate entries for each set of data points. Sometimes just two, but has been as many as four duplicates. I have a remove duplicates macro to run, after the fact, but preventing them from occurring in the first place is the goal. I included the application.wait method at 10 second intervals after the application .OnTime method, but it isn't preventing the duplicates.
Dim delta_time As Date
Dim Count As Integer
Dim n_rows As Integer
Dim start_row As Integer
Dim col_mov As Integer
Sub initialize_button_set()
start_row = 7
Count = 0
n_rows = Worksheets("sheet1").Cells(1, 2).Value
delta_time = Worksheets("sheet1").Cells(2, 2).Value
Application.OnTime Now + delta_time, "get_data"
Rem Worksheets("sheet1").Buttons.Add 275, 0, 72, 36
Worksheets("sheet1").Buttons.Caption = "STOP"
Worksheets("sheet1").Buttons.OnAction = "Halt"
End Sub...........................

I have attached a copy of what I am trying to do. I've been researching vlookup for a while and everything I try doesn't seem to work. I'm also fairly new to Excel, so most of this is my first time trying these formulas.
In the attached test.xls file, I have two sheets created. The first is "Responsibility," and the second is "List." The data in "List" is what I am trying to pull from. As you can see, the people's names are listed more than once as the list goes down. On the "Responsibility" page I have each person's name one time. In the "Extinguisher" column, I'm wanting it to list every number that is found next to the person's name on the "List" sheet. For example:
Column B2 on the "Responsibility" sheet should read as follows:
1,2,3,17,24
Here is the formula I have in these cells:
=VLOOKUP($A2,List!$A$3:$C$38,3,TRUE)

I have a worksheet in which i am asking a user to enter manually a number in cell E3. Suppose the user starts with 100, then the next time he is entering in E3 he shoudnt be able to enter 100 nor any number less than 100. I dont have a range for the numbers that the user is going to enter. Therefore countif function does not work. Is there any way that i an store the number taht the user enters first in cell E3 and then use that database to avoid the user from entering the same or a number lesser than that number.????

I've created a single worksheet that is essentially a "dashboard" type of report that displays data for a single employee/person. This worksheet (let's assume it's my "template") contains formulae that is driven by a single lookup cell (in this case, the employee's ID, in cell, for example, A1).
This "dashboard" report (for just one individual) needs to be duplicated for the entire employee population (let's say ~100 people); this employee population is stored as a list in a separate worksheet, in a single column.
Is there a vba solution that will copy my template and populate the cell A1 (of each duplicated template worksheet) with the the employee IDs - of course, it would be ideal if the solution can search in my employee ID list and continue down until there are no more IDs and create the same number of worksheets as there are IDs?
Because the macro is creating numerous worksheets, is it possible to name the worksheets based off of an adjacent value (in the same sheet as the IDs) to each respective ID (I'm thinking of a concatenation of the employees' IDs and names)?
One major wrinkle in this process: the above process would be ideal if the "template" worksheet won't change (i.e. no changes to formatting, no additional data elements, etc.) However, it's likely that the client will want to add/remove/change items/elements to the "template" dashboard. Assuming, at this point, all 100 worksheets for each individual/employee have been created, it would be a huge pain to manually add/remove elements from each sheet. Is there another macro that would delete ALL employee sheets? That way, I can re-modify my single template and just run the original macro to re-create my duplicate sheets (but populated with different IDs) again.

1 workbook, 2 worksheets (or tabs). On tab 1, I want a formula/alert that tells the user if any duplicate values exist in Column A of tab 2
Tab 2, Column A, has Unique ID's (6 digit numeric values)
The user manually inputs the ID's on new rows in Column A
Row 1 is reserved and in use for something else
Row 2 is my header, so cell A2 says "ID"
Row 3-623 currently contain unique ID's
When the user inputs a new ID into cell A624, then they return to Tab 1, I want my formula/alert on Tab 1 to tell the user that they have duplicates in Column A of tab 2. I know the Conditional Formatting, but if the user copies in 100 new values, they won't necessarily see the highlighted cells. My tab 1 is my "checks and balances" and the last place the user is suppposed to look to ensure that they haven't created any duplicate ID's. If the user sees a warning message that says duplicates exist, then I'll tell them that they need to look at column A (for cells that have been conditionally highlighted).
One issue that I'm running into with the conditional highlighting is that I want cells A3:A1048576 to already have the conditional formatting - this way when the user inserts a value into Cell A624, then A625, etc they conditional formatting is already there. Right now with data in cells A3:A623, cells A624:A1048576 are all highlighted with the Red/Bold Red Font (which is okay I guess), but ideally it would be nice to not count 2+ empty cells as duplicates and I'll have to have my formula on Tab 1 not include the blank cells.
I DO NOT want to use the Remove Duplicates feature of Excel 2010. If I remove them I could be removing data in columns B, C, D, etc that belong to the Unique ID. I just need the user to be told in Tab 1 that they DO have duplicates and I'll train the user how to research this and fix it.
The reason I want to look for duplicates in the entire Column A is because the list of Unique ID's will grow over time.

I use the following formula to count duplicate random numbers on Row 35 that occurred on Row 34:
=SUMPRODUCT(--(D35:I36<>""))-SUMPRODUCT((D35:I36<>"")/COUNTIF(D35:I36,D35:I36&""))
I would like to continue to compare against Row 34 and count duplicates on other rows (ex. Row 36 or Row 37) one row at a time.
In addition is it possible to visually identify the duplicates through conditional formatting (ex. Bold or color change) or other ways?

I realise there are a few threads on similar topics but I can't seem to get any of them to work for my scenario. I have two columns with a list of numbers in each. I'm after a function that will scan column A and identify any numbers that also appear in column B. If possible I would like it to then generate a list of these in say, column C.

I got some functions from some of you to spot duplicate bar codes
the first function was this =IF(ISERROR(MATCH(D5;$D6:D$65536;0));"";D5)
the second next to it this =COUNTIF($D:$D;$D5)
and the third: =IF(COUNTIF(D:D;D5)>1;"DUPLICATE";"")
well fine but now I dlike to add the numbers of the 2 cells of those duplicate codes. In some cases I have more than 2 identical bar codes.
Example
4905524490831DPFV900B.CEU0649055244908312DUPLICATE
4905524490831DPFV900B.CEU502DUPLICATE

In row G, I have a wide range of values from -3000 up to 2500.
These values are generated from a formula. =A5-B5.
I need a script that will scan row G between G5:G500 and give them a letter value.
Convert anything less than 0 to an A
Convert anything equal to 0 or equal to 1 to a B
Convert anything between 2 and 7 to a C
Convert anything greater than 7 to a D
It can place the new categorized letter value over the original formula in row G or put the letter value right next to it in H.

I have unit measures that are converted across four columns (FT, SQFT, SQM and SQY).
THere are three units in rows (BOX, Skid and Roll). I am trying to identify in a column labeled "Duplicate Volume" with a formula stating "YES" if there are duplicate numbers (volumes) in any of the four conversion columns listed above. I tried to attach an excel file here but the system will not accept it. Hopefully the diagram i make below will be enough to understand the concept:
Unit Name FT SQFT SQM SQY Duplicate?
BOX 0 0 15 0
BOX 0 0 20 20 YES
Skid 0 10 10 10 YES
Skid 0 0 0 15
Roll 100 10 2 1.5
Roll 0 0 40 40 YES
I have over 50 thousand rows of this stuff...so looking at the data to decide if there are duplicates will not happen.
Any formula that i can put in the column titled "Duplicate" that can identify the duplicates with a "YES" in the cell where duplicates are found?

Attempting to do a spreadsheet for my golf club, to record scores, etc...
Managed to get it to pretty much what I want despite some very extreme looking formulae! So for some scores such as 56,56,57,57,54,54, Rank would just give me 3,3,5,5,1,1, so I have put a second column next to 56,56,57,57,54,54 where I input scores to seperate ties (better back nine scores), so in the above I would have for example 30,29 next to the two 56s, 27,29 next to the two 57s, and 27,28 next to the two 54s, so the rank would return 4,3,5,6,1,2. I have gone three stages further, so if, the back nine score was also tied, I have a column for the last 6 hole score, the last 3 hole score and even the last hole score. This is some serious formulae at this point. However, I now want the OPTION to rank the original data as 2,2,3,3,1,1 if I don't put any data in the back nine column.
This is so that I can input doubles scores on the same spreadsheet as singles scores, so if two people shoot the same score in singles I can input the back 9 scores etc to decide who comes out ahead, but in doubles I would just leave the back nine score blank, and then two people would share 1st in the rank, but then I need two 2nd ranks NOT 3rd ranks as it currently is.
Just so you can see how complex it is the current forumlae in the rank is here is an example:
=IF(O7="","",IF(K$2="MEDAL",RANK(O7,O$7:O$255,1)
+SUMPRODUCT(--(O7=O$7:O$255),--(P7>P$7:P$255))
+SUMPRODUCT(--(O7=O$7:O$255),--(P7=P$7:P$255),--(Q7>Q$7:Q$255))
[Code] .....
There are other things in there to sort out a few other issues as well, but I cant see the wood for the trees so to speak, to get it todo what I want!
I have also attached a sample from my spreadsheet to better demonstrate what I want!

I managed to find this great bit of code some time ago and would now like to add to it. The code basically identifies any duplicates in column A and then lists the results in a message box,e.g.:
Duplicate Name: REF12345
Rows: 2,3
Works great for 1 or 2 duplicates but if there are many it becomes quite difficult to keep track. I'd like keep the code as is but add highlighting to the identified cells.

My boss gave me a project and need to be done as soon as possible. Basically, i just need to join all of database and then identify duplicates and put them in another sheet in order to investigate if there are any double payments.
Duplicates can be:
- invoices with same vendor name having same or comparable amounts
- invoices with Invoice No. which match or closely match (in case we're mis-keying)
I've tried so many ways to find duplicates that fulfill the 2 conditions above, but still cannot make it done.
