Dynamically Rank Items Based On Two Criteria’s

Jan 3, 2007

I need to have excel dynamically rank items based on two criteria’s (category and sales).

For Example:
I have a list of items with its category in column A, column B has the sales information. I need to rank the items by category and sales, the data is not sorted and I cannot use a macros/VB.

Rank Based Upon Two Criteria?

Oct 14, 2011

Sheet1 *BMNO1GenderAge GroupTotalRank2Male6-72103*3Male6-71437*4Female6-71294*

I will have 200+ records similar to the above. I would like a formula that ranks the totals. The Males in the 6-7 Age Group would be in 1 Ranking while the Females in the 6-7 Age Group would be in another.

I prefer a formula over a macro. My original thought was =rank(n2,offset(?,?,?,?,?),1) but alas I'm missing something.

Calculate Rank Based On Criteria

May 20, 2007

I want to calculate the sales rank of the customer whose CUSTOMERID is equal to my ID? Note that sales rank is what position the salesperson is in terms of DOLLAR VALUE OF SALES.

Just a bit stuck on this. How do I calculate the rank? Is it a If statement or a Vlookup Question?

The spreadsheet can be found here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5D0YCHIG (It's too big to be uploaded to the forum hosting).

Rank Based On Criteria And Exclude Duplicates

Mar 20, 2014

I have a large spreadsheet where I've successfully ranked a large series of data based on revenue, using product classification as a criteria & summarising this on another page with the top 20 products. The problem I'm having is that within certain criteria's I have some products with the exact same revenue figure, so if the 2nd ranked product within classification "C" for example has revenue of $100, & there's another product within the same classification also with $100 of revenue, on my top 20 report I have results for the 1st & 2nd ranked product, but a blank for the third product & then results again for the fourth

The formula I'm using is

=IF(Y12="NA",0,SUMPRODUCT(--(Y12=$Y$12:$Y$6000),--(AC12

Conditional Rank Based On Whether A Criteria Cell Includes A Specific Text String

May 8, 2009

I'm racking my brains as to how I can structure a formula to conditionally rank a value in an array against only those values in the array whose corresponding criteria cell includes a specific letter.

So for example I have a list of 12 values, say 126; 239; 0; 171; 162; 157; 130; 199; 122; 153; 0; 15.
Each of those values corresponds to a heading, say: CDE; DFE; FGE; DFE; ERD; DEA; BDF; DFB; CDE; CEF; CAB; FAB. As you will note some of the headings may or may not be the same and may or may not include the same letters in different orders.

How can I write a formula that ranks in ascending order a given value drawn from the above list (which will be in another cell but which in this case is, let's say, the first value: 126) only against those values whose heading includes a specific character, for example the character C (the character in question will vary and be defined in a specific cell).

As an added complication I need the ranking calculation to exclude any zero values. So in the above example what the formula needs to do is rank the value 126 against a sub-set of the whole array comprising only the values 126; 122; 153; 0.

The answer I need is 2 because, discounting the zero value, 126 is the second highest value.

Index Items Based On Criteria?

Jul 9, 2014

I have a list of words in the column A, and then columns E:SA where are numbers. I need to set up a piece of code/VBA that will index(write) all the words from the column A that have a number 1 on the same row in the column E for example (I need to do this for each column - E:SA).

I know it's hard to understand, I'll give you an example:

Column E has in E16 number 1. So the program will index the text(value) of the cell A16
and so on ... for every column E:SA

I need to index the values in the 1748th cell(and higher) of each column (E:SA)

VBA - Advanced Filter / Find Row Items To Remove Based On Multiple Criteria

Jun 28, 2014

I'm working with many rows of data (500,000+) and many columns. To simplify my question, I'm going to provide a simple example using made up numbers and only the columns I'm concerned with.

BillT Doc.ItemQty
F11231012.00
F2123205.00
S1123105.00
RE321202.00
F2321108.00
F2321201.00
RE321203.00
RE999808.00
F27771001.00
RE7771001.00

I am trying to remove the docs that have two Bill types that cancel each other out, where the qtys match and highlight the rows where the qtys don't match. The macro needs to have the positive and negative bill types programatically entered, where for example F1 and F2 are positive and S1 and RE are negative. Keep in mind the data may not necessarily be in order as it is above.

So for example with data above, the rows for doc 777 would be removed completely because the item numbers are the same, the qty is the same, and the bill types oppose each other. Doc 123 and Item 10 lines should be highlighted since their bill types are opposed bu their qtys don't match.

I hope this makes sense. I tired to achieve this using multiple loops and arrays, but ran out of memory when working with the entire set of data. I'm assuming their must be a better way to do this, I'm hoping some of the intelligent individuals here will be able to point in the right direction.

Rank On Two Different Criteria?

Dec 8, 2012

I have a list of names that come from another sheet. I need to rank these by score and have used this formula:

[Code] ........

These names compete within their class but also within the class I need to consider (rank) a second category for example No or Yes. Also all names could be competing in the Yes category or for example 7 in the Yes and 3 in the NO. This will vary and is based on entry in another sheet.

The format is Class (column B), category (Yes or NO, Column C), Name (Column D), Score (Column S) and Rank (Column T)

If I include an IF statement =IF(S33="Yes", at the beginning of the above formula then I get all the Yes ranked perfectly. Is it possible to rank the others with the NO consideration?

Dynamically Adding Row Blocks Based On Cell Value

Apr 2, 2014

I've managed to get coding that allows me to insert single rows dynamically based on a cell value. Example is if I enter a value in cell C3 the coding inserts the same number of rows below.

I've also created a simple macro that inserts a multiple row block under the active cell, complete with formatting, text and some merged cells. Example is I run the macro and it will insert a block of 3 rows, complete with formatting, borders, text and merged cells.

My challenge is to bring these two elements together. So enter a number in a single cell which will then insert the same number of row blocks, complete with formatting etc. I've added a file to sample what it is I'm trying to achieve. I can add the coding I already have as well.

Dynamically Alter Macro Based On Tab Name Or Cell Value

Feb 1, 2014

I have a workbook with several tabs. One tab is named for the year eg 2014. Annually, I open the workbook, rename to the new year and rename the year tab to the next year eg 2014 to 2015. All the dynamic range names update as expected. Sheet2(2014) becomes Sheet2(2015). However, a line of macro code does not change and errors out because the year does not change.

Is there a way to dynamically modify the '2014' sheet reference to reflect the renaming of the year tab eg to 2015 or to reference a helper cell named YEAR?

The cell referenced above R332C1 is dynamic.

I have tried writing the above line many ways based on internet research but no success. I suspect I can use a LEN function to actually modify the line of code but I'm not sure its even possible to alter a macro dynamically to meet my needs here.

Dynamically Scaling Pages Based On Page Breaks?

I essentially have this data repeated multiple times depending on how many products I am looking at, I would like this repeated 3 times per page, which is where the page breaks are currently being placed. When i tried to set Width 1 page the automatic page breaks would only allow two of these per page at 100% scaling.

Dynamically Create Named Ranges Based On Cell

Dec 16, 2007

I am looking for a solution to dynamically create named ranges according to the contents of cells in a particular column. The following code works for 1 word names, but in many cases the title cell contains numerous words separated by spaces. Is there a way I can adapt this code so that it will name the ranges with the spaces removed? For example, where cell C2 contains the narrative 'Sales Ledger Control', I would want the range name 'SalesLedgerControl'.

Range("R2:Z2").Name = Range("C2")

The named ranges are referred to in numerous other worksheets, where selecting a particular narrative from a listbox creates a dependant drop-down in the adjacent cell (eg if Sales Ledger Control is selected, the dependant list contains names of customers). FYI, the data validation in the other worksheets ignores the spaces in the range names, ie: =INDIRECT(SUBSTITUTE(G2," ",""))

It would not take me long to name the ranges manually, but a macro is preferable because the narratives in the title cells will often change and the range names will obvioulsy also therefore change.
