Formula That Will Rank Based On Highest Data

I am building a football stat database which I am looking to put in an individual sheet which will search the other 20 sheets, collate the information and then display a top 5 ranking in each area. For example, this is our setup for the data:

So what I want to to is have a separate sheet which will have a section for say over 1.5 goals %. The formula would go and retrieve all of the % results for each individual team. Then it would rank the 5 best teams and display the team name in the first cell and the % in the other cell.

a formula to rank a set of data ? The smallest data will be rank 1 and the highest will have the last rank. this range of data has some spaces in between, that needs to be ignored but should not be deleted. I have attached a spreadsheet stating the case.

I have a data that needs to be ranked from highest to lowest. I used the Rank function to do this.After getting the rank, i need to consolidate the data by highest to lowest rank, while simultaneously getting the values of the column on the same row.
I used the index and the match function. And i was able to do that, but the problem is there are items that have the same rank. how do i consolidate the data from highest to lowest even if with same ranks?

I have done many research online to cater to my require but fail to accomplish it. I need to determine the decision base on ranking of the number in the Rank column. which is than reflected in the calender. But per day basis, it needs to only be green for the top "number of quota set per day" highest ranking. I have also attached the sample for a clearer understanding

I have three columns in one Sheet (Sheet 1). The Columns are: "A" - Student Name; "B" - Start Date; "C" - No. of Courses; "D" - ID Number. The columns contains student data for 50 kids all in random order.
On a different Sheet (Sheet 2), I want to list the Student Names (Column "A" of Sheet 1) of the Top 5 students, according to their Start Dates (Column "B" of Sheet 1) latest to earliest. If two students start in the same date, I want to rank them according to the No. of Courses (Column "C" of Sheet 1) for the duplicates (large to small), and then by the Start Dates for the rest of the student. And if the Start Date and the No. of Courses for two students are the same, I want to rank them according to the ID Number (Column "D" of Sheet 1) for the duplicates (Small to large), then by the Start Dates and finally by the No. of Courses for the rest.
In addition, Sheet 1 has other information in corresponding cells stretching up to Column "J". When the Top 5 rankings will be made in Sheet 2, data points for the students shall automatically be pulled from Sheet 1 and inserted in corresponding columns within Sheet 2.
I understand its a very complicated problem. I challenge is exacerbated by the fact that I cannot use the sort function. And If the data is changed in Sheet 1, the Top 5 rankings will automatically update with the new information in Sheet 2. In addition, I am not to use VBA and have to complete the project using regular Excel functions.

I am trying to configure a formula using RANK to do the following:
- Sort scores from highest to lowest (range from 1 to 900)
There will be 64 entries total (64 man bracket) and i would like to rank them from highest score (900 is highest score) to lowest score (1 is lowest score).
This is for a bowling bracket. The names of the bowlers will be in column A. The scores will be in column B. Their RANK will be in column C.

I am looking to have the items in column K 1 through 16 listed from highest to lowest and at the same time post the corresponding number from column J 1 through 16.
So that it reads as follows:
04 - 18 - 06
02 - 17 - 06
08 - 10 - 03
Item 04 has 18 points and is listed in 6 columns etc.
How can I get Excel to do this?

I'm attempting to create a formula that will find the name associated with a value, and return that name on the same column as that value in a later equation.
OK OK to illustrate it a little better:
There are three people: Bill, Ted, and Andy. Each one is ranked in Points, so my table looks like this:
A B
1 Bill 10
2 Ted 20
3 Andy 30
Later on, I want to rank the individuals based on their score, using a formula. Right now, I can rank the scores based using LARGE(B1:B3,1), then LARGE(B1:B3,2), and lastly LARGE(B1:B3,3). That ranks the numbers in descending columns. However, I want the information to automatically populate the name associated with that particular point total. So, I want the system to know that B1 is Bill's score, and rank it, in descending order, later on in the spreadsheet, with Bill's name.

i am trying to work out how to use the rank formula to rank numbers in column B and keep them in unison with Column A.
So Column A has say 5 1's with column B having different scores then continuing under 1 in A is 2 and so on is there a way to continue the ranking formula without manually changing the cell ranges?
so =rank(B1,$B$1:$B$7,1) but can i do that if A =1 and then A=2 etc ?
so if A=1,rank(B1,$B$1:$B$7,1)

I’m keeping tabs of some clay pigeon shooting scores. I go to alternate locations each week and normally shoot 100 clays, however sometimes it’s only 50. I’ve used MAX to find the highest score in Column D of a spreadsheet and it did what I required. However I now wish to find the highest number in Column D - but only include rows if Column C = P and column E =100.

I can’t see how to do this and have searched the forum to no avail. It doesn’t look like I can just use the MAX anymore and I’ve tried incorporating that into a (nested) IF but unsuccessfully.

I have a range of 30 cells in a row. From that row there are groups of cells that have data that might be 1-7 cells populated in a row and in between these groups are blank cells in the row. I need to see what is the highest number of cells in a continuous row that contain data, what the mode is for continuous cell counts, and what is the average value for the data from the continuous cells. The average is a nice to have but not entirely necessary as most cell data will be fairly similar and I can get a close enough average just by knowing the average number of cells that contain data in a row. I have to do this calculation for about 1000 rows of individual data so its important a formula fit in one row.
Almost need a count function to count starting with each cell and then stopping at the first no no value it finds. Then it would show those counts and I could run a formula to pick the highest count and also show the mode of counts.
I will let the experts at it!, my weak mind could not think this one through. I thought something to do with MATCH for a while but no go from what I could do.

I am trying to write a formula that shows the best grade for each each student and the subject in which
that grade was achieved.
In a previous post i was shown how to identify the highest grade
MAX(IF(A$3:A$34=A7,C$3:C$34))
I hit CTRL, SHIFT & ENTER to activate the formula - Result in column E
However, I also want to identify the subject in which they scored their highest grade in column F
I have two problems
1. I don't know how to write a formula that brings in the subject based on the grade for each student
2. I don't know how to write a formula in case there is a tie (see DAVID L)

I have a workbook with two tabs: Results (containing exam results) and Percentile (containing percentile rankings based on scores). There are different rankings for different exams.
I need the percentile ranking returned (on the Results tab) based on the exam result for each student. e.g. for exam M111 a score of 36 would return a ranking of 95, a score of 18 would return a ranking of 35, etc. I've attached a sample workbook.

I will have 200+ records similar to the above. I would like a formula that ranks the totals. The Males in the 6-7 Age Group would be in 1 Ranking while the Females in the 6-7 Age Group would be in another.
I prefer a formula over a macro. My original thought was =rank(n2,offset(?,?,?,?,?),1) but alas I'm missing something.

See the attached spreadsheet. I have people's names in cells A2:A5. These names have a rank value in cells B2:B5. What I would like to do is create a formula that sorts/orders the names in cells A2:A5 according to the rank in cells B2:B5. The results I would like to achieve are shown in A8:A11. I am aware of the "Sort" function in the "Data" drop down menu, but need to leave cells A1:B5 as they are.

I want to calculate the sales rank of the customer whose CUSTOMERID is equal to my ID? Note that sales rank is what position the salesperson is in terms of DOLLAR VALUE OF SALES.
Just a bit stuck on this. How do I calculate the rank? Is it a If statement or a Vlookup Question?

I recently made a formula of net sales contribution (sales per product category/total sales). For weeks 1.2008 to 30.2008. But I have several product categories. I would like near the value of the formula (not in another cell!) to insert a rank of these contributions. I d love to have the rank inside a parenthesis() near the percentage.

I want to find the rank of a year that falls between the start date and end date. For e.g.
Start date : 1/1/2005
End date : 10/31/2014
Target Date: 12/20/2009
Using year(start date)-year(end date), I get the number of years but how to evaluate the answer in a cell to get the result = 5 (my desired answer as 2005 through 2009 = 5 years).

I have a large spreadsheet where I've successfully ranked a large series of data based on revenue, using product classification as a criteria & summarising this on another page with the top 20 products. The problem I'm having is that within certain criteria's I have some products with the exact same revenue figure, so if the 2nd ranked product within classification "C" for example has revenue of $100, & there's another product within the same classification also with $100 of revenue, on my top 20 report I have results for the 1st & 2nd ranked product, but a blank for the third product & then results again for the fourth
