Empty Cell Reading As If There Is A Number Attached
Jan 17, 2008
I have a pretty basic spreadsheet which requires a quantity and a unit price (which may change) and then the total. I find that if there is no number in the quantity cell, it reads it as if there is a "1" in there. Can anyone offer assistance on how to get around this without placing zero in that spot?
I have on the first tab a screen where you can fill in the name of the .doc or .pdf file.
That works fine, but now I would like that when I fill in a number and click on test, it opens te .doc and .pdf file that is attached for that number.
If you take a look at the pdf file you will see a second and a third tab.
First column is the number they need to fill in and the second column is the name of the .doc or .pdf that needs to be opened with that specific number.
How to link it and open both files for that specific number.
But not every number has a .doc as well as a .pdf.
Have a spreadsheet that contains a column of 3 digit numbers as well as 3 digit numbers with 2 trailing alpha characters.
Example:
376 377 421 376AB 376XY 377NC 421GQ 421EF
Need to sort by this column, but, with the parameter of sorting first by the numeric only, and then by numeric with alphas. So, the above list would look like this sorted properly:
count if fuction on positive and negative number in the attached excel sheet. I would like to count how many numbers are positive and negative in the A column of the attached excel sheet.
I am using the MONTH function in a formula. The Month value of an empty cell is returned as "1". Why is this? Is there any way to return a null value or zero?
sumif problem but it wont work with a countif or average if.
Column A has various names and Column B has amounts, what I need is to count the number of occurances "John Smith" has an amount in Column B. The previous formula I tried was
=sumif(A:A,"John Smith",B:B) but with either countif or averageif it errors too many arguements.
I wasn't sure if Dcount or an array would be suitable but have not used them before.
Pivot tables I'm sure will be the future with this but haven't got to the foot of that mountain yet.
I'm trying to count the number of non-empty cells beneath a reference cell and would be most grateful for a few pointers. The code I currently have (that doesn't work) is:
I want to count the number of rows in a specific column up to an empty cell and assign this value to a cell. I don't want to count the total number of rows but instead I want the number of the first group of rows.
For example, column A may have cells ranging from row 2 to 10 and then from row 12 to 20, so I only want to count the first group.
The below code counts the total which is not what i need.
Code: Sub test() Dim Mycount As Single Mycount = Application.Count(Range("A:A")) Cells(1, 4) = Mycount End Sub
I am looking for a formula to number rows in A1:A500 I would like to skip a row when B1:B500 cells are empty then skip that row and start renumbering from 1 This is what I tried so far =If(b9>"", countif($B$9:$B9,">"""),"")
The macro I have is looping all sheets looking for empty cells in a specific column, and when it founds an empty cell the value for one cell is copied to the empty cell.
But in one worksheet it stops with the error:
Run-time error '1004' Application-defined or object-defined error
I have a cell (H27) which has a (sum) total in and have attached a NAME FRED. This is fine as long as the client doesn't add a row above it. If they do when I re-open the sheet the NAME doesn't stay attached to the cell (now H28)
Is there a way to keep the NAME attached to the cell regardless where it is?
Private Sub Workbook_SheetActivate(ByVal Sh As Object) Range("$H$27").Name = "Fred" End Sub
the attached workbook, I am looking for M19, N19 & O19 to read from different locations depending on how many cells are called on when info is entered in P8.
SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(E10:E29,E10:E29)>0,1)). this is the formula I currently use to read employee numbers and it works when we just use the number i.e. 011004. When we use the full employee number with alpha characters it does not work i.e. ASMO011004. I have used helper cells to do similar, but am not wanting to do this way for simplicity reasons.
1. Copy a certain amount of rows based on the number input at the top of the page.
i.e. you put in 12 and the macro will copy 12 rows to paste somewhere else.
2. Similarly, the same idea but instead of selecting rows i need it to drag a formula down to the relavent row number so all the copied data has a formula to match
I wish I could read the name of the file (myfile_12112012.xlsx) or, alternatively, all of the function's first argument (('[myfile_12112012.xlsx]RIEPILOGO'!$C$2:$C$12) from a separate cell.
I tried this:
SOMMA.SE = (C2, E1, '[myfile_12112012.xlsx] ERROR SUMMARY'! $ B $ 2: $ B $ 12)
putting in the cell C2 the string:
'[myfile_12112012.xlsx]RIEPILOGO'!$C$2:$C$12
In this way, however, the formula does not work.
How can I read and evaluate correctly the first argument from the cell c2?
The results of the formula in cell K36 in the attached spreadsheet returns a value of null. It should be $1,200. Am I blind or have I done something wrong. I just can't see the problem with the formula.
1) 4 values contains in each row based on the values from those cells the max value will display.
2) if more than 2 cells have empty,NR or NA text means the entire row has to delete.
3) if 2 or more that means 3 cells having values the empty cell,NR or NA cell will place value with the condition of macro that is 75% of other values which is maximum among them.
I have a long range of cells (U3:AX3), all of which are empty save one. Is there a way to search through the range of cells, and return the contents of the one cell that contains text?
I would do this with a series of nested IF statements if there weren't more than 30 of them!
Is there a way to make the attached worksheet automatically shade out all the Saturdays & Sundays in any given month everytime you change the Month/Year cell at the top of the worksheet, as example? I've tried using the weekday/Weekend formula, but can't quite get it right.
I am creating a fantasy football draft board using excel. To keep it short and sweet, each individual team (one per column) has a $200 budget to draft players. Each team must fill 14 roster positions (one per row), but here's the catch; you must spend at least $1 on all of the 14 players on your roster. So you have a maximum bid amount which is your remaining budget subtracted by $1 for every remaining spot you have left to fill.
I have already created a "remaining budget" field which subtracts each drafted player's inserted dollar amounts from the $200... easy. Beneath this, I'd like to create another cell per team that tells you your "maximum bid," which is essentially 200, -1 for every cell that remains blank. I have played around with the conditional IF formulas but cannot seem to have it account for multiple cells.
As a workaround, I have made columns hidden beneath the board which contain the conditional IF, ISBLANK fields which are -1 if true and 0 if false. Then creating the "remaining budget" field that subtracts these values from 200. This works, but it's not perfect, as when you have multiple players you still need to draft and you've exhausted your budget only saving $1 for each, it overstates your "maximum bid" by $1, or when you have $X left and you need to only fill one more spot, it ill tell you your "maximum bid" is $X-1.
its possible to convert a blank string on a label into an integer? My form loads and populates a label.caption with the value of the activecell.value. Sometimes the activecell.value is empty and sometimes has a number in it. I need to do a calculation (label.caption * 2) but if the label.caption is empty it throws an error. I need it to treat an empty label as zero.
1. I need a macro to find a unique number, say a 10 digit number starting with 4100.. and move it 1 row down and 3 rows to the left. It needs to look only in one column (E) for this number. This row contains several unique numbers, variable number of blank cells between them, all having 10 digits and starting with 4100.. - So the macro needs to repeat this for every unique number.
2)Once it does this, I need it to autofill the unique number in all the cells in column A until the next unique number is reached.
