Excel 2010 :: Populate Cells From Listbox Drag / Drop - Can't Find First Empty Row On Worksheet

Feb 1, 2014

I am running Excel 2010 and Windows 7.

I have a form with a main list box and several other list boxes. I drag and drop records from the main list box to the others. When I drop a record onto one of the list boxes, a corresponding worksheet is updated with the same record. This works just fine.

The problem I have is:I close and re-open the form after having added some dataDrag/Drop a record to the list boxThe worksheet won't find the first empty rowExample: If the worksheet already contains 4 rows of data, I have to drag/drop 5 times before the fifth row will be updatedI would like to drop the data the first time and have the first blank row updated

Notes:

1.) I have tried variations of "xlUp", "xlDown", and SpecialCells(xlCellTypeLastCell) in the "Worksheets("Monday")... line of code; all to no avail.

2.) The cells contain formatting (borders)

Here is the relevant code:

Code:

'Copy items from the list box to the worksheet
For intI = 1 To ListBox2.ListCount
For intJ = 1 To ListBox2.ColumnCount
If IsEmpty(Worksheets("Monday").Cells(intI + 1, intJ)) Then
Worksheets("Monday").Cells(intI + 1, intJ).Value = ListBox2.List(intI - 1, intJ - 1)
End If
Next intJ
Next intI

Excel 2010 :: Can't Paste From One Instance To Another

Jul 2, 2014

I am running Excel 2010. I have two separate instances of Excel running. I select data and copy it, and then paste it into the other excel spreadsheet in a separate instance. The clipboard data DOES NOT paste the desired data, instead it pastes the item most recently copied in the separate Excel instance that I am trying to paste into. It's as if the excel instance has it's own clipboard, and is unable to use the same clipboard the other Excel instance is using. Copy and paste functions / clipboard seems to working perfectly outside of the Excel program.

Excel 2010 :: Formula To Determine If Duplicate Values Exist In Single Column (excluding Empty Cells)

Jun 29, 2012

1 workbook, 2 worksheets (or tabs). On tab 1, I want a formula/alert that tells the user if any duplicate values exist in Column A of tab 2

Tab 2, Column A, has Unique ID's (6 digit numeric values)

The user manually inputs the ID's on new rows in Column A

Row 1 is reserved and in use for something else
Row 2 is my header, so cell A2 says "ID"
Row 3-623 currently contain unique ID's

When the user inputs a new ID into cell A624, then they return to Tab 1, I want my formula/alert on Tab 1 to tell the user that they have duplicates in Column A of tab 2. I know the Conditional Formatting, but if the user copies in 100 new values, they won't necessarily see the highlighted cells. My tab 1 is my "checks and balances" and the last place the user is suppposed to look to ensure that they haven't created any duplicate ID's. If the user sees a warning message that says duplicates exist, then I'll tell them that they need to look at column A (for cells that have been conditionally highlighted).

One issue that I'm running into with the conditional highlighting is that I want cells A3:A1048576 to already have the conditional formatting - this way when the user inserts a value into Cell A624, then A625, etc they conditional formatting is already there. Right now with data in cells A3:A623, cells A624:A1048576 are all highlighted with the Red/Bold Red Font (which is okay I guess), but ideally it would be nice to not count 2+ empty cells as duplicates and I'll have to have my formula on Tab 1 not include the blank cells.

I DO NOT want to use the Remove Duplicates feature of Excel 2010. If I remove them I could be removing data in columns B, C, D, etc that belong to the Unique ID. I just need the user to be told in Tab 1 that they DO have duplicates and I'll train the user how to research this and fix it.

The reason I want to look for duplicates in the entire Column A is because the list of Unique ID's will grow over time.

Excel 2010 :: Copy And Paste Function?

Apr 18, 2012

The problem is that whenever I have any browser open, IE, Chrome, Firefox, etc... the Cut & Paste, Copy & Paste function does not work correctly in Excel 2010.

When I Cut or Copy the blinking marquee around my selection briefly appears and then disappears. When I try to paste, I only have two options under the paste special function: Unicode Text and Text, same with cut and paste, however, the text doesn't actually cut, it only copies.

As soon as I close down any of the mentioned browsers, the full functionality of the cut/copy & paste functions are restored, no need to restart excel.

I need to have open a browser most of the time for work as our system is web based, so closing and re-opening is more than just an annoyance.

Paste Data To Next Empty Row Based On Cell Contents

I am trying to write a macro to do the following: Loop through a range of cells on a worksheet Sheet1 M17:M46 and if there is text in the cell then Copy all the data to the left Of Coumun M in the same row and paste the values to the next open row of a range A17:L46 on another worksheet (sheet2.) Basically the text in column M is an idicator to add the data to an order sheet. If there is no text don't add the data , look in the next row etc.
I'm not sure if this is the way to go

Sub CopyRows()
Worksheets("sheet1").Select
FinalRow = Range("M65536").End(xlUp).Row
' Find the last row of data
' Loop through each row
For x = 2 To FinalRow
' Decide if to copy based on column M
ThisValue = Range("M" & x).Value
' could be any value
If ThisValue = "yes" Then
Worksheets("sheet2").Range("A" & x & ":L" & x).Copy
Worksheets("sheet1").Select
NextRow = Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row + 1
Range("A" & NextRow).Select

Excel 2010 :: Copy And Paste INDIRECT Formula?

to complete the field using the other sheets value if it's not empty, where $K$7 references a worksheet name based on the previous month.

It's working just fine, but I want to copy and paste it into other cells having the referenced cell, C45, change as I move it around the sheet (if I copy and paste it 3 cells to the right it would become =IF(INDIRECT($K$7&"!C48")>"",INDIRECT($K$7&"!C48"),"").

I haven't been able to find a way to make the C45 cell reference dynamic while copying and pasting. It would save me a ton of time if I could.

Macro Copy / Paste Last Data Entered To Last Empty Row Of Different Worksheet

Mar 15, 2013

I am looking to create a macro to be assigned to a button that copies the last row of data entered and then pastes it to the last empty row on a different worksheet. This is a dummy spreadsheet to work with (I have more data, but the concept is one in the same). Sheet1 ("Branch1"), Sheet2 ("Branch2"), and Sheet3 ("All"), the names in brackets are names of the sheets, but for ease I'll refer to them as Sheet1, Sheet2, and Sheet3. I have columns beginning in B as follows: Date, Branch, Currency, Coin, and Total (the branch and Total are tied to formulas, however I just need to the text values and formats to come over to the other worksheet). have the portion regarding the copy of the last row in Sheet1, however it won't PasteSpecial.Selection in Sheet3 as it says the cells are not sized or formatted correctly.

VB:
Sub CopyB2()
lr2 = Sheets("Branch2").Range("B" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
lr3 = Sheets("All").Range("B" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row + 1
Sheets("Branch2").Range("B" & lr2).EntireRow.Copy Sheets("All").Range("B" & lr3)
End Sub

Editting Macro To Select Last Empty Column To Paste Data

Nov 30, 2008

I have a macro that automatically takes data from one sheet, copies it and pastes it on another sheet, but I want it to select the empty column that is to the right of the last column to contain data (so basically the next empty column). What code would I enter into editting my macro to be able to do this please?

Also, one thing I've tried to do with my macro is that when I select the data, it's suppose to select from the first name to the last. When doing the actions for the macro, I use "Ctrl + Shift + Down Arrow Key" to make the selection select the bottom of the list. However, when running the macro, if the list is longer (or shorter), the macro selects that number of cells instead of the action of just going to the bottom of the list. For example, if during the actions of the macro, I recorded using the Ctrl + Shift + Down Arrow Key that 50 cells were selected...next time if I have 60 cells, only 50 are selected, even though I used an action command which should select all the cells in that group (in this case being 60). Is there some code I can add to that so this would work correctly?

In case its required, here is the code from the macro:

Excel 2010 :: Paste Options No Longer Showing Up When Clicking CTRL

Jul 30, 2014

I'm currently using Excel 2010. Before, when ctrl+v'ing a cell that wasn't a number (but was, for example, a function), I could immediately after press ctrl, bring up a paste menu, and press v to paste as a value.

So before, if I had a range of cells that were functions (say something simple like "=D3/E3" on F3 and dragged down), I could do the following to paste the range into another worksheet:

1. Ctrl+shift+down to select the entire range
2. Ctrl+C
3. Ctrl+V into a different worksheet (at which point everything shows up as either "#DIV/0!" or as the wrong number, depending on cells to the left)
4. Ctrl (brings up the paste menu)
5. V (selects "values")
6. The entire range is now pasted as values, and not as functions

Recently, however, clicking on "ctrl" after pasting brings up no paste menu. I haven't changed any settings. I will lovingly serenade the first (and second, and third) man (or woman) that figure out what settings I must change or what I must do differently.

Macro-Copy&Paste Fixed Data Ranges Into Last Empty Cell Of Specific Column

Apr 27, 2009

I have rather large Excel file that spans around 245 columns & has multiple users responsible for certain columns. Columns are chunked to provide data about a specific group. Every 72 hours, I need to provide to managers what’s currently on this file in a specific summary format.

I’ve recorded a macro that gets me half way there. Here’s where I’m clueless. After my macro deletes unnecessary columns, what remains are the columns for “Main Data” group + each of the 5 “Business” groups (Investors, Lawyers, Credit, Finance, and Support) which would have identical column headings.

(1) Name (2) Address (3) ID# (4) Control#

Furthermore, for each of the 5 “Business” groups, there are 9 slots (ie- a user can enter up to 9 unique entries for a particular group.)

Example- The Investor group contains 9 slots. Each slot will contain the 4 columns mentioned above. So there are 46 slots in total – 1 for Main Data, 45 (5 groups x 9 slots) for Business groups.

MAIN DATA (columns A-D)
Investor1 (columns E-H)… Investor2 (columns I-L)… Investor9 (columns AK-AN)
Lawyer1… Lawyer9
Compliance1… Compliance9
Finance1… Finance9
Support1… Support9

MY PROBLEM: I need a macro to now cut & paste all data from each of the 45 Business groups slots & then paste at the bottom of the MAIN DATA slot.

The final file would be 4 columns (as listed above) wide. Data from each of the 45 business group slots would be one below the other- all of it underneath the data in the Main Data group.

I attempted to record a macro where I’m copying a section’s data range starting from row2 to row4000 (I know there will never be 4000 entries. I did this just to ensure that all future data would be captured) then pasting that after the last entry in the Main Data.

Example- I’d copy data from Investor1 slot(starting at column E2-H2) & go about 4000 rows down. Then I’d press CTRL+Down Arrow key in column A & then click the down arrow one time to take me into 1st empty cell where I would paste my copied data. I was going to repeat this process for the remaining 44 slots.

I’ve added some extra entries to test the macro & the problem is that the recorded macro is pasting data in specific cell location in column A instead for looking for the 1st empty cell in column A & then pasting the copied data.

So far I've gone thought the net & tried to paste in a few VBA posts/tips that I thought would work. Here's what I have so far from tinkering around. I need someone to tell me what to replace the xxxxxxx line with. This would be the language to tell Excel to paste copied data range into the first blank cell in column A.
