Excel 2013 :: Converting List Of Dates To Days
Oct 21, 2013I have a list of dates and want to convert them to something like Monday 21st October instead of 21/10/13.
I am sure this is easy but cannot see how to do it. I am on Excel 13.
I have a list of dates and want to convert them to something like Monday 21st October instead of 21/10/13.
I am sure this is easy but cannot see how to do it. I am on Excel 13.
I wanted to determine the number of days between two dates. Specifically, if the initial date is in one month, and the second is in a different month and an output would result a number of days in each month until the final date. BUT I have a large amount of data to do this for in a list view, way to put a formula in excel and just drag down the entire list to get the required information. see below for an example.
The result I'm looking for is the separate the months and only show the relevant months between the two dates in one cell or the adjacent. Something similar to the table outlined below.

I am using excel 2013 in my laptop (windows 8.1) after having upgraded excel 2007. Everything works fine during my daily tasks. Especially autofill which I use quite often works perfect.
At the same time I upgraded my girlfriends laptop (Windows 7) with the office 2013 (office 2007 was the older version) and somewhere there begun some isues. Autofill doesn't. Especially with months or days. I enter the value "Monday", I drag down (of course using the black filled cross down right of the cell) the cursor and all the cells get the value Monday. Even if enter the value Tuesday in the second cell and then try to autofill (having marked before both these two cells) I get the same results. Monday, Tuesday, Monday, Tuesday.
I tried to test the autofill with numbers. If i write only the one number (for instance the value "1") and then autofill, this doesn't work. It gives me the value "1" in all the cells. But if I enter the value "2" in the second cell, the autofill works fine (marking these 2 cells and then autofill).
We make some online courses using exactly the same excel exercise files. In my laptop everything works perfect.
Does excel 2013 have a fence way to sort a list of alpha numeric numbers and alphabetize in this order A - Z and then 0 - 9.
Ex) Apple, Greg, Rob, Sand, 123, 126, 1000, 2001
I imported a text file into excel 2013, and the format for the date column was M/D/Y. Like this:
Excel Forum 1.xlsx
And then I copied those date and pasted them onto this Excel file:
Excel Forum 2.xlsb
And as you see there seems to be a problem with the dates. So I formatted the cells to also have the M/D/Y format and this is what happened.
As you see the original dates are transformed to something completely different.
I need to convert the following string into Excel dates:
Jan 1, 2009
Jan 12, 2009
Jan 21, 2009
Right clicking it and changing it to date format will not work.
I have tried extracting individual days/months/years out by using Left/MID and Right functions but as you can see, problem lies when there days with single digit or double digits.
Is there a formula or code that returns the dates in the month in the current month before today? For example, today is 4th october 2006. so I would like it to return a column of values that include 1/10/2006, 2/10/2006, 3/10/2006, 4/10/2006.

Can I do some thing to sort these cells with their corresponding rows based on time only disregarding dates?
I am trying sort out all rows that in column (A) is time equal to or greater than 4:00 PM OR even maybe sort all rows that column (A) shows a time between 4:00 PM & 7:00 PM. The date in the cell is the problem, I think. Excel 2013
I have looked at some threads related to this issue but don't quite fit what I am on about. I access some data online that appears in a grid format which I copy and paste to Excel. I don't have access to the source data/database. I select and set some query variables and run the query and the result appears in the grid. I copy and paste to Excel that is it. When paste to Excel 2010 I have the choice between "Keep source formatting" and "Match destination formatting". OK, I always choose the 2nd option i.e. "Match destination formatting". That is it. It appears to be a simpler format. Where does the problem come in? Can you help me stop Excel from involuntarily converting numerics to dates when not asked?
The data itself can (at least the part that I'm interested in can) come in 2 different ways. 1) WPS or 2) W%P%S. In case you're interested these represent racing statistics where 1) WPS = Number of Wins, Places, Starts given as whole integer format and 2) W%P%S = Percentage of Wins, Percentage of Places and S is still the integer number of starts. Now, when I run the query and copy these statistics over to Excel, particularly in the form of the 1st type of data i.e. WPS they are in the form e.g. "2-6-12" which means 2 wins, 6 places from 12 starts. The stats literally come across in the form "W-P-S" where I fear the delimiter "-" is causing the date conversion consequences that I have outlined at the start. ALSO, as you could have imagined, I have tried importing the data in terms of the 2nd type of data namely "W%-P%-S", which, on the surface of things begins to solve the problem in terms of the initial paste of the data into Excel. That is true, and yes I have found that this has delimited the data correctly mainly. Although there are still occasional problems. When I import the data this way, I still want the data in the % form as well as the integer form. So I do a great deal of data massaging with what I have and yet in re-converting some of the data back to integer form I can still encounter the "convert to date" problem.

How can I convert the number of days for example 366 days to years, months, days 366=1year, 0 months, 1 day
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow to determine how many days are remaining in the quarter after I provide it a specific date. Ultimately I am trying to build something where if I enter a date it will break down how much it will contribute for the remaining current quarter and for one full year (on a quarterly basis).
For example lets say I buy gumball machine today and I know that it will contribute X dollars for 2009 and X+1 dollars in 2010. I would like to break it down quarterly and have it say - you will get X for the rest of the quarter in 2009 and X for each quarter in 2010.

I want a data validation drop down list, the list may expand or contract.
I created the list in cells on one sheet and control T to make them into a table
In data validation I selected the range of cells in that table
When I add to the list it does not show in the drop down list.
Using Excel 2013,
I clicked on a field in my RowLabels
I then clicked on the Filter Arrow for the RowField
The SelectedField prompted with the correct field of 4 possible fields
However the item I am looking for is not in the list but I can plainly see it on the screen.

I am using Excel 2013 on Windows 7. In the above example columns A & B is the given list to process, and Columns C & D contain the result I am trying to achieve. The major part of this that I am having trouble on combining, separating them with commas in another cell, and ignoring a duplicate value. You can see bill has two red values, but I only need it displayed once in column D.
I have a large table of results that looks like this...

I am trying to figure-out how to set up conditional formatting of dates in a column (e.g. Date Submitted) and have these dates, and/or cell, change color as time progresses. I have Excel 2007.
For instance I have an application submitted on 11/20/2011 in a cell. I would like to have the date change color (Yellow) after 30 days have passed.
Then do the same except change to Red after 60 days have passed the date.
I searched the forums and did not find this particular problem. I of course may have missed it too...
My guess was to try "$A$1
I'm making a Excel 2013 spreadsheet that has formula in a column that auto enters a number 1-40 when something is entered to the left of that cell. There are 300 rows in the spreadsheet. I would like to make a drop down list in a column cell to the right that would delete that number in that cell from the drop down list. For example cell C1 has 39, that 39 then is deleted from the drop down list. C2 has 22 in it, click on the drop down list cell and it shows 1-40 less 39 and 22.

A3 to BF3 are sales. Days without sales are 0.00
I want to pick a range of dates and find the number of days without sales between those dates. So, a formula that will look to a start date in A1 and an end date in B2, and then count the number of days that did not have sales between. Index/Match/Countif/Dateif I can't seem to make anything work.
Today() provides a dynamic date which always equals the current date - not very useful when dating accounting documents. Is there a function that will allow the use of Today(), at the time of the document creation, but will then freeze the date to the date of creation?

Today I am having a very annoying problem that really has me stumped – I need to work out the lag between a Due Date and Delivered Date
But as people sometimes manage to deliver on the Due Date it needs to show a zero (as in they got it in on time) but using the formula below the result is a 1 and I want a zero
Can anyone help me please? I have tried putting assorted -1s in to the formula and it looks like it might work until I copy down and find that if a person delivered one day early the result shows -3 for example!
Data example is displayed below. I need to know how to find the average, not date average, but count. What is the average per day? Example on 2/9/2014 there are 12 entries but on 2/10/2014 there is only 1. Example: For all the lines of data that I have, what is average per day?

I am making process TAT(Turn Around Time) which required following information. In Excel 2007.
1-Count number of days between two dates where working days are (Sun to Thursday). So required to exclude (Friday,Sat + Holidays)
A1-Start Date Mar/01/2014
B1-End Date Mar/31/2014
C1-No Of Days 22
D1-Days between two dates 21
E1 To E10-Holidays
2-Count number of days between two dates where working days are (Sat to Thursday). So required to exclude (Friday + Holidays)
A1-Start Date Mar/01/2014
B1-End Date Mar/31/2014
C1-No Of Days 27
D1-Days between two dates 26
E1 To E10-Holidays
Note : Any weekend (off days) dates listed in holidays should not effect the query.
I'm trying to create a set of three dynamic/dependent drop down lists of date values, based on a set of imported data. Depending on whether the preferred choice is to list all dates in a range or just dates on the 15th, the available start and end drop down lists will change.
In addition, if possible I would then like to display a list of valid dates (not sure if this needs to be VBA).
The attached sheet shows/explains what I am attempting but here it is as well:
If B3 is set to show all dates in the month then:
the first dropdown option for C3 will be the first date of IMPORT (D2)
the first dropdown option for C4 will be the C3 value, to the last date in IMPORT (D) column
If B3 is set to show 15th of the month then:
the dropdown for C3 will be the first date of IMPORT (D) column with a date of 15th the dropdown for C4 will be in the range of C3 to the last date of IMPORT (D) column with a date of 15th only dates of 15th will be listed in both C3 and C4 dropdownlists
General
the dates in IMPORT column D are taken from IMPORT column A, B & C, which will be imported and will always be date sequential the number of rows of date entries will change with every import but there will never be any blank rows between dates the values in IMPORT columns A, B & C will always be numerical, and can be referenced if required [ideally] the LIST OF DATES will be populated with the date range, based on the option selected in B3
I'm fairly familiar with Excel (2010) and I have also done some VBA but I'm new to dynamic, nested dropdown lists and I'm unsure what the most practical way is to achieve this.
Excel 2007 I have a spreadsheet of file boxes the keeps a log of boxes, contents, locations and shred dates. Currently figuring out when and which boxes can be shredded is a manual hunt, find, and then deal with it. I can use CF and Sorting but I have been looking at some search type functions to return a list meeting the requirements and trying to step my way towards that.
1st attempt. Was find out how many boxes meet the shred (before today) that have not already been detroyed. Column K is the Shred Date, D1 is Todays date, Column G is Status. Got this working good.
[QUOTE]]=SUMPRODUCT(--(Log!K2:K2136(lessthan)STATS!D1)*SIGN(LEN(Log!K2:K2136)))-(COUNTIF(Log!G2:G2136,"Destroyed"))[/QUOTE
My failed attempt came at trying to find the earliest shred date excluding those that have been destroyed. This is not really neeed but I was hoping it would get me closer to creating the list of boxes that meet shred that have not already been destroyed.
Note: Column A is the Box No. and the spreadsheet contains blanks as we continue to add file boxes to storage.
Below array formula find the highest box number used by each department.
Code:
=A4&"-"&TEXT(MAX(IF(Log!$A$2:$A$2136"",(LEFT(Log!$A$2:$A$2136,LEN(A4))=A4)*RIGHT(Log!$A$2:$A$2136,3))),"000")
I would like to create a list of boxes including Column A "Box no.", Column H "Location", Column K "Shred Date" for any box whose shred date is before today that has not aleady been labeled "Destroyed" in Column G.
Backstory: I am converting PDF documents to Excel files and some of the numbers are being transformed into a wonky date format which to the ***** eye looks semi correct but the underlying value in the formula bar is incorrect. Basically I need to copy and paste the value but when I paste special values it doesnt work. Below is the example
The cell value should be: 9856 When it is converted to excel the value shows 98 5 6 but in the formula bar it shows: 5/6/2098 The cell is formated as: Custom yy m d;@
If I get the value in the cell to read 98 5 6 I can use trim or something to get it down to 9856 but the issue is when I use those functions they return 72446. I guessing this is because they read the formula value not the cell value.
I need to somehow get the value in the formula bar to read 9856.
