I need to search a list in column B of 500 records to find specific words such as"ABC2000000000" The text will always begin with "ABC................." and I would like to extract this whole world from the text string into a new column.
This is not always in the middle or beginning or end.
It could be inbetween other words or numbers or spaces etc - so its not consistent as this data is from a raw file imported into excel.
So I would like to FIND text beginning with"ABC" in column A and then return "ABC123456789000" in Column B. The format will always be "ABC-followed by 12 numbers"
EG
Column A and column B(what I would like to see)
KOREIABC123456789999 4029227
ABC123456789999
RCA ABC000010469597 PBI000010005941
ABC000010469597
8990ABC000010480568
ABC000010480568
I currently have data in the form of: "510 E. 96th Street, Suite 400 Indianapolis, IN 46240"
And need a formula to extract only the state abbreviation from the cell, any ideas? I currently have the formula, =MID(O333,(SEARCH(",",O333)+2),2) but it only works if there is one comma for example, it works perfectly on this data:
2K MEDIcal 105 West Torrance Boulevard Suite 106 Redondo Beach, CA 90277
So, using an array under the Names column, search the string under combined names and break apart as illustrated. Must stay on the same line...w/o VBA.
I have a long column of info as below. I want to extract (the name changes)- "SEAPORT TWN" etc and also "01.30" and place into separate columns say G and H at the next available cell.
** SWITCHLIST FOR TRAIN---Grain Spec -East DEPARTURE TIME from WESTTOWN is 01:00 TOWN STOP---SEAPRT TWN Arriving at 01:30

I have a column of cells over 2000 rows that have a bunch of text in each cell. In the middle of this text in each cell are websites (not hyperlinked). I was wondering if someone wrote a macro or formula to extract URLs located in a bunch of text? I can parse this out but doing some delimiting but that will take longer.
I'm trying to find a way to use a macro to extract data from a specific column from Sheet1 based on the columns header/title and copied into Sheet2 into the respective column with matching header/title.
For instance, in Sheet1:
Chicken Cow Donkey Pig
[Code]....
So the above table would be the result i'm aiming for.
NOTE, its not different workbooks. I'm looking for sheet to sheet macro.
I've attached a file as well if someone wants to have a go at it. There are no codes in it.
I have a macro I found here on the boards written by Lenze to delete an entire row based on what is found in column A. I would like to delete any row where Col. B contains 10 or less characters and I have modified it to do so (or at least I think it does). My problem is that it takes about 12 minutes to run the macro (I have about 50k lines to run through). I was wondering if this is the fastest method or if it examines things other than just column B.
Sub Test() Dim i As Long LR = Cells(Rows.Count, "B").End(xlUp).Row For i = LR To 2 Step -1 If Len(Cells(i, "B")) < 11 Then Cells(i, "B").EntireRow.Delete Next i End Sub After this runs, I am left with Columns A to somewhere around AH. The columns are generally in the format of text followed by a numeric column. An individual text column has the same name through all of the rows. The numeric columns have varied values whether negative or positive. Ideally what I would like: If a given cell (ie. C2) in Row 2 is numeric, then copy the cell to the left (ie. B2) into (ie. C1) and then delete Column B. I need this to work for multiple columns from B to C, skip D and E, and then from F to AG (and maybe beyond).
I need a formula to run down a column DCapture.JPG (starting at 142), when it finds the last entered value it needs to display the corresponding value from column J into cell AA21.
If you see the attached photo, the last entered data in column D would be 1, AA21 would be saying -30 (J205)
I am in need of restructuring a spreadsheet of addresses for mailing purposes. (I tried to find something similar answered previously, but nothing seemed to work for me.)
I have attached a small example spreadsheet below, but our spreadsheets can be hundreds or thousands of rows in length.
I need a macro that will look for the "PO Box" addresses under the column headers named "ADDRESS2" and "ADDRESS3".
The PO Box addresses will need to be moved under the column header "ADDRESS1" within the same row.
It will need to overwrite the text that is already under "ADDRESS1" and delete the text from the "ADDRESS2" and "ADDRESS3" columns - UNLESS the text in 'ADDRESS2" is a PO Box AND "ADDRESS1" begins with "c/o".
If the data in "ADDRESS2" or "ADDRESS3" is anything other than a PO Box it will remain the same. As will "ADDRESS 1".
Basically if there is a PO Box it needs to be in the column named "ADDRESS1" and overwrite anything else that was there. The exception will be for PO Boxes that are in c/o someone else, the PO Box will then need to be listed in the column directly after the column that has c/o.
If the c/o exception will be too difficult the code could just highlight those scenarios and we could fix them manually. We usually do not have a lot of them, but enough that we need to be mindful of them.
The different scenarios are listed in my sample spreadsheet. Also, the code will have to use the column header names in row 1 because those headers are not always in the same column.
I have a workbook that usually looks something like this
Category Product No description Price
Balloons 12345 Red Disney balloon .50 Balloons 12567 Blue Princess balloon .86 Balloons 76521 Angry Birds Balloon .80
Kites 23456 A Big red Kite .27 Kites 22222 A small blue kite .06
Banners 10000 Party banner .33
etc..
I need to find a way to copy the category below an empty row from column A and paste it in the blank row in column B . If possible to bolden the text but I could probably work that bit out myself. I'm new to this but have used VBA before to run macros.
I have been working with a few people on here to setup a macro to copy text from a column of cells to another column and then print this in to a text document but it seams to have got stuck in a loop ....
I am looking for a Macro that will search a column for blank cells, and when one is found will add text to the same row in another column. For example: The below is a spreadsheet. I am trying to find something that will search through column "C" in this case and add text (of my choice) to Column "A" if the cell is Blank. So Since cell C1 is Blank then Type "ERROR" is cell A1.
A B C D E 1 X X X X 2 X X X X 3 X X X X X 4 X X X X 5 X X X X
Column A and B, starting in row 1, are a "continuous" list of dates and events. column A are dates, and Column B are events (text). The dates in column A are in descending order.
I want a macro to throw in column D and E, all the dates and events of the month of September (09) that are in column A and B, and to place them in descending order as well.
This macro is extreemly basic but i have no skills in excel with macros. Basically i have 'Column A' with stats that i need input into 'Column B', however i need then to be input inside a field that is already there.....
I need to sum values in a column, but only if the text in the same row of the adjacent column meets certain criteria. Below is a simplified version as an example:
A1 - Apple A2 - Banana A3 - Apple A4 - Banana
B1 - 3 B2 - 2 B3 - 1 B4 - 1
I need a formula that will add up the cells in column B that have "Apple" next to them in column A. Apple would total up to 4 and Banana would total up to 3.
I have two excel files. File #1 is a varying length and has 4 columns with ID #s in Column A. File #2 is a two column file that contains a list of ID #s in column A AND modified ID#s in column B.
I need to match the ID #s in column A from file# 1 to the list in column A of file#2 then replace ALL instances of the matching ID #s in column A of file#1, with the values found in column B of file #2.
I've tried using the substitute function but I could only replace one found ID at a time.
I have a macro that copies data from one sheet to another. I would like getting the macro to figure last row used in column B from B3 on and put the word Sum below it. For example, if last row used is B64, on B65 would like the word sum on it.
I cannot just input in as the number of rows could change when macro is run. Data is dynamic.
Here is simple code I have:
Sub Weight() Sheets("Final Month").Select Range("A2:B1055").Select Selection.Copy Sheets("Final Weight").Select
I have a column of numbers that have certain dates in it. I want to extract the dates and then copy and paste the dates into another column. Shall I use a macro for this or can it be done manually?
