Find And Highlight Specific Numbers
Jan 22, 2009
I have a spreadsheet with a stock list. Each item has an individual number. I have a code below, which I have doctored from other various sources. The problem I have is that if I search for number '12' the spreadsheet highlights every cell with 12 in (120 121 122 123 etc...) Is there any way I can change the code so that it returns only the 12 and not every cell that contains 12? The current code is as follows:

I have two spreadsheets. Spreadsheet 1 has 6 columns and column E has a list of numbers. It runs from E2:E739.
Spreadsheet 2 has 9 columns and column A has the numbers I need matched against. Column A runs from A9:A5027. How can I find the numbers from Spreadsheet 1, Column E that are also in Spreadsheet 2, Column A. Once matched I would like to highlight the ROW on spreadsheet 1 that has a match.

I'm faced with receiving data for time, in a text format, as follows:
Example of possible cell contents...
20secs
40m20secs
2h40m20secs
I'm not interested in the secs value but need to isolate the h (hours) and m (mins) values to use in another formula as numbers. The time could be shown in either of the above formats with either; (a) just secs, (b) mins & secs or (c) hrs, mins & secs... and of course the hours or mins values could be 1 or 2 digits in length. How can I determine (using formula only, not vba) what the values for hours and/or mins are dependent upon what is present?

I'm trying to use a conditional format on a range of cells so that if there is more than 1 "A" contained in any given row, the cells containing the "A"s are highlighted (e.g. red)
I've tried:
=COUNTIF(B2:K4,"A")>1
but it doesnt work & now I'm stuck.

Here is what i am trying to achieve. If the date 2/20/2010 is located at F53 & the cell next to it at H53 is populated with a number between 1 & 16, then i want the cell at J11 (42 rows further up) to auto populate with the number 1. When this occurs the cells beneath this, from J12 to J52 should also auto populate with the with consecutive numbers from 2 to 42. Would also like to see the cells with numbers 1 to 28, automatically format to orange & the cells containing numbers 29 to 42 automatically format to yellow. I plan to have this condition repeat several times later in the year, at dates that are to be decided. When these dates are decided i want to be able to enter a number from 1 to 16 & next to the date & all of the above automatically occurs.

I need to figure out how to have the macro look for a specific word and then highlight the last two columns in that row of that word and then repeat the process throughout the spreadsheet. I think it gets me very close to what I'm looking for: ('average of submitttocomplete' is the word i'm looking for)
Dim lColumn As Long
lColumn = Cells(Selection.Row, Columns.Count).End(xlToLeft).Column
Range(Cells(Selection.Row, Selection.Column), Cells(Selection.Row, lColumn)).Select

Example:

item company: GW
item location: 14SO
item counter: 0000003
How can I only sort the item by the last 7 digits "0000003"

I'm finding it hard to explain what I am trying to do (which may be why I can't find a solution through Google), so I have an example. I am using a much larger spreadsheet than this sample(18,000 rows)
ID
First_Name
Last_Name
Company
[Code]....
I want to highlight rows if there are multiple instances of ID and # values - I included a column at the end showing which rows in this data set would be highlighted.

In the table above in cells A3:F4 is the draw result.
Option1: in the column H played numbers are separated by semicolon
Option2: in the column I played numbers are separated by coma
Option3: in the column J played numbers are separated by space
Is there any formula or conditional formatting method to highlight match numbers out of any one of three options?

I am wanting to check columns B:L for data entry on each row. Going at most 500 rows down if that is relevant. If there are no numbers on the row in those columns, then I want either the whole row or just the column range to be highlighted, whichever is easier for a solution.
I think this can be done by defining a named range using some sort of count function and then using the named range in conditional formatting. But that is just concept and I can't actually make that happen.

I have an excel spread sheet & I wish to highlight any cell that contains any of the following characters with in a string of text.
/ : * " < > ? |
E.g. a cell in the spread sheet containing the text "Is this a Question?" would be highlighted.
I have tried to use - 'Format only cells that contain' > Specific Text > Containing > for each of the characters and this does not work.
When I do this any cell containing any text is highlighted.
In addition there is formatting on any cell > 60 characters which turns the cell red and this works fine.
What would happen if (when I get the problem above resolved), a cell is > than 60 characters & contains a character listed above?
Does 1 formatting take precedent over another?
(Not critical to know the answer to the additional question, just curious - as long as it is highlighted one colour or another then no problem.)

I have tried a little bit of different conditional formatting but cannot seem to get what I want.
So then I found this code that will do what I want if I could get it to recognize the highlight.
Sub HilightRows()
For Each cl In Range("C:C")
If cl.Value = 202546 Or cl.Value = 102725 Or cl.Value = 192473 Then
Rows(cl.Row).Highlight = True
End If
Next
End Sub
I want to be able to highlight rows that have certain numbers. When it finds the number it highlights it and goes to the next one and highlights it and so on. The numbers reside in column 'C'.
I changed Row(cl.Row).HiddenRows = True, To Row(cl.Row).Highlight = True. But it is not working.

How do I get the cells in column "F" to highlight all negative numbers UNLESS the following 2 conditions are met: the number in column F = "-105" AND there is an "@" corresponding in column "C". In the attached file F5 & F7 are highlighted properly according to what I want, but F6 is not (since F6's value is "-105" AND C6's value contains an "@").
