I'm working on two almost identical lists but because of their nature, some rows are repeated on one of the sheets and so on. I need help matching some cells onto the other sheet. I tried the VLOOKUP formula but it doesn't work since some rows are repeated... I need the match to link especifically a Name with it's correspondent Value, regardless of the position of the name in either of the sheets and whether it is repeated or not.

I’m putting together a blackjack odds calculator. I could use some help with a formula. If I have an A,7 (ace low) it needs to return a 0 (or false) for a “Possible Hand” because further down the column A,7 (ace hi) has a true “End Hand Total”
I was going to use an IF and a VLOOKUP (looking lower on the column), but then I cannot sort the column. Is there a formula that will find the hand and check for true 2 columns over from identical hand. There are 169 starting hand combinations. The attached worksheet only has 31 – for simplification.
Is it possible to find duplicate rows that are not EXACT identical. Conditional formatting can find duplicate rows but they must be identical exactly(ofcourse)(even extra SPACE,COMMA,DOT wont find duplicates)
I have name and address(street address) columns. I don not want my invitation cards or mails go to same address twice.
As you can see in the file ..all 5 records belong to same address.(address entered in diff styles,some comma,space extra..etc) 4 and 5 are Son and Wife of 1st person. Row 5 and 6 have same text but one extra space in 5th row makes it unique so i need to eliminate such records with same address So can i set some formula so that duplicate rows will be highlighted if any 3-4 words match ?

I regularly have to add a few new lines to what is in fact a very simple data base I've had running for a long time in Excel. About 1200 lines now, one line per person. I add a dozen or so lines (i.e. people) at a time in a different colour.
When I re-sort the whole thing I run my eye down the list to spot partial double (i.e. duplicate) entries (the new ones in their own colour helps). Then I delete the double entries one by one. Pretty stoooopid, in'it?
How can I do this better, faster and more accurately with Excel to find just two duplicated data ( NAME and ID NUMBER) in a person's line (there are 15 columns altogether)? Or: Where and what can I search for (I've just spent nearly an hour trying to find an answer by myself, but don't really know what to search for)?
I have over 2000 rows with 20 columns and i need to find and remove identical rows. I can do a match with MATCH() by concatenating the columns and comparing them as a whole but i need to apply this to the whole table and i need it to remove all the duplicate rows it finds.

I want a macro/method of looking at Sheet1 Col A - finding the EXCAT name in Sheet2 ColA and then either Replacing Sheet1 Col A with the Text in Sheet2 ColA or putting it in Sheet 1 ColB next to the one i need to replace.

I have Approx 4187 names to check like this and change to the same format as is in Sheet2 Col A
So a looping macros that looks at sheet1 col A and then finds the name in Sheet2 Col A i think is required, if it does not find a matching name it should leave it BLANK and then move on to the next one to find and replace.
I have tried to split up the cells in Sheet1 ColA into FName, Lname..then doing Vlookups, but thats not working for me

Anyway, I'm writing a procedure that plays around with lists in Excel (i.e. the type of list that would show up in CurrentRegion.
They're not connected to any outside data source, or as a pivot table - just columns of data that will have a header row in a different format than the data body.
Is there any way of cycling through each sheet in the workbook and identifying each occurrence of a list?
I've been playing with the code at the bottom of the post, and it finds the boundaries of each list providing (at the moment) that each list starts on row 1. There are other problems with it however.
And to identify the values in the header row? .....

In a new worksheet I want to see only the information relating to the Facilities, specifically the clean date of each facility, such that the information looks something like this:
Facility Name clean date
Plant 1A 11/11/2008
Plant 2A 12/1/2008
Plant 1B 12/5/2008
I know that I can use a simply vlookup formula such as the one below:
=VLOOKUP(C21,Info,3,FALSE), where C21 is the Facility Name and "info" is a list of the last 3 columns of my initial datasheet. However, I need to remember add each new facility name to the 2nd list when it is added to the main datasheet.
Is there a way to have the 2nd sheet automatically add the new facility name every time I add one on the main sheet, but without showing the many empty rows inbetween?
I have two worksheets each of which includes a left column of unique email addresses (at least, unique within each lsheet)

A stab in the dark here, but is there any way to be able to 'jump' to a particular position within a filtered list. My list has around 20,000 items in it and I'm having to go through each one systematically to make edits on the relevant line and it is so laborious trying to find the correct place in the list every time.
Is there anyway to be able to may be key in the first letter or two letters to avoid all the continuous scrolling to find the relevant entry?
Is it possible to find the minimum distance between two points using two separate lists of different lengths without creating separate columns of equal row sizes
? I am trying to find the shortest distance form one point to another which is a fixed value. I am using the standard distance formula: =SQRT(((X2-X1)^2)+((Y2-Y1)^2)+((Z2-Z1)^2)).
My X1,Y1, Z1, has 2,000 rows in three columns that need to be compared to find the minimum distance from my one row/column of X2,Y2,Z2.
Is there a command that could go through and use each row of the X1, Y1, Z1, while looking for the MIN of the above formula without having to create an equal amount of rows for the X2, Y2, Z2?
I know I could do it by running this out the long way and then finding the min after I do all the math but I am wondering if there is an automated way for Excel to go through and do the forumla and then only return the MIN value?
My problem in the given excel file
1. Sheet1; how to Add "B000" in the List A or "B00" if the digits and 5 in the list
2. Sheet2; how to remove "B000" or "B00" from the list
3. Sheet3; how to highlight difference or find out the difference between to lists

Is there a way to make a drop-down list optional? When I create drop-down lists the user has to make a choice from that list.
Example: a list of doctors. I need the user to be able to select from that list if the patient saw one of those physicians, but if the patient saw another doctor not on the list, I need the user to be able to enter the name of that other doctor. Currently the user has to select from the list or not enter a doctor. I am using Excel 2003.
In the attached Excel file, the data has been place from d2 to dyo2.
For example, value "2607" is placed from cells va2 to wk2.
I need to merge cells from va2 to wk2.
I can't use horizontal alignment - center across selection because my boss wants it to merge only.

These two cell are identical (have checked theer are no random spaces) however the formula is saying that they are not equal. They are also in identical formats.
I have three large txt files. All three are the same number of columns but are of a different number of rows. (Each month the number of columns will increase but the 3 source files will still contain an equal number).
Therefore I need to open the first text file, select all data and paste it into my master file.
I then want to open the second txt file and paste all the data at the first empty row of my master file.
I will then open the third txt file and paste all the data at the first empty row of the master file.
Finally I will close the txt files.
I will then have several other amendments to make to the master data file.
So to my problem....
Opening the txt files is fine.
However I want to select all the data in the first txt file but excel gives me an error message. (On the line highlighted in my code). I remember there being a function in VBA that selects all data around a cell, can anyone remember how to do this?

i have got two tables each on a different sheet. The column headings are not the same but in both tables column A contain names. Users can enter names in column A in the first table, and these should be copied to the second table. However, users can insert rows in the first table which should automatically be copied to the second table to ensure the tables haven an identical number of rows (names)

I have a list of transactions on accounts that have the account name multiple times. I want a count of just those account names but without the copies for the different transactions. I have like 5 entries (transactions) on say Bob Smith's Towing I need it to combine all five entries into one or delete all but one so I have a true count of how many accounts I have.

Go down a column and identify all accounts that are identical, then add up the values that are 5 columns to the right of each account and paste them on another sheet along with the account code (there are 12 values for each account to be added with the other identical accounts).
I've attached a spreadsheet, because I understnad this might be kind of confusing. In essence:
1. Go down column C
2. Look for accounts that are identical
3. Add up the values for each account in columns G:R
4. Copy and paste the added values to another sheet along with columns C:F for each account to identify it.
I have a database with 6 columns in play (there are actually other columns but they are not relevant). I'll call the columns A through F. I would like to be able to match certain counterpart rows together, do a sort placing the counterpart rows adjacent to one another, and then count how many pairs I have. (Some rows will have no counterparts.)

I basically need to devise a formula or script that pairs together two rows that fit the following criteria:
1) The rows are identical in Columns B, C, D, and E.
2) The rows are not identical in Column F (i.e., one half of the pair should have "yes" and the other half should have "no")
3) The rows are as close together as possible according to the date sequence in Column A. For example, Row 1 should pair with Row 6, and Row 5 should pair with Row 7. Row 1 should not pair with Row 7, and Row 5 should not pair with Row 6. **This criterion seems tricky because R5 and R6 would technically fit the requirement for pairing, were it not for the fact that R1 comes earlier in the sequence.**
I want to delete some rows that are identical. Aside from creating a macros to do this, is there a way to find a row with a specific criteria and delete it if value returns TRUE?
