I do a lot of work in excel to do with accounts and this often needs checking against sage. When the invoices/petty cash sheets are put into sage the total amount is put in, but in my spreadsheets I need to split the reciepts. So I was wondering if there was a formula/VBA code, that if I only knew the total of the invoice would find which cells added up to this total?
I have a list of numbers and want to see if the sum of any of them exactly makes up a specific larger number. Any quick way to do in excel? Eg do any of the below together make the exact total of the number at the bottom.
I have a list of 30 numbers representing receipts due. I have one receipt which I know must represent the sum of some of these numbers. Is there anyway in Excel that I can highlight the range of 30 numbers and ask Excel to sample all possible combinations to find which numbers add up to my total receipt?
It doesn't encompass the full spectrum of what I am hoping to have on this timesheet.
For some reason - when I select "REB (0730-1600)", it comes up to 9 hours and not 8.5 hours.
And I cannot have a =SUM column. My goal was to select a shift (Cell 5), it automatically input the hours worked (Cell 7), and then somewhere formulate a total for the week.
I am working on a spreadsheet to track hours worked. It is an 8 hr day. I want there to be a running total, but when less than 8 hrs are worked and the total goes below 8 hrs per day (as in when you have no "banked time" it will not display negative or owned time. Also, it doesn't seem to want to skip over the weekends for me.
but when I use the formula for finding the PLanned Stops - Time in the range G7:H7 it gives the Volume Total from Column D...I want the Planned Stops -Time from H7.....
I have been trying to write two formulas in one cell. I have been able to write them both separately but have been unable to join them both together. What I am trying to do if first search name them how many reoccurring numbers appear. I have provided an example below
a b c d
1 Tom 333 2 Sam 22 3 Sam 22 4 John 5 5 Sam 22 6 Sam 1 7 Tom 3 8 Tom 333
I receive a large file every month with 30K+ rows of data that need to be manipulated manually before I can send it off. Within the data are "chunks" of data that are anywhere from 1 to 90 rows each. Each chunk needs to total 100 or less, and while they do for the most part, some end up over 100 due to rounding (usually 100.02 or so). The rows above and below each chunk are blank, and I currently have a calc to add each chunk, and flag it if it's over 100. Then, I have to go through each of the flagged chunks and manually decrease one of the lines to make the total 100.
Is there any way to automate any or all of this procedure?
I have attached a sample file with two chunks of data. The actual files contains 14 more columns to the left that aren't shown.
I work for a charity and I have to cancel the donations of people whose credit card donations have been declined in three consecutive months.
If in Column A I have a list of donor IDs whose credit cards were declined in Jan 2008, in Column B I have a list of donor IDs whose credit cards were declined in Feb 2008 and in Column C I have a list of donor IDs whose credit cards were declined in Mar 2008, is there a way of showing in a fourth column which donor IDs were common (repeated) in Columns A, B and C? I would have a title for each column in A1, B1 and C1, and also the column where the repeated donor IDs would be displayed.
I have two columns D and E, the header takes up rows 1-4 so the first available row is row 5. The D column is going to have numbers added daily, the E column will show the cumlative total. How can I make the cumlative total stay and be updated with each new entry in column D? C D E Name daily cumlative dave 20 20 Row #5 Jim 30 30 Tim 11 11 Sara 6 6
Say these are the entries for day one, I need to be able to make new entries in the same D column on the next day and have it update the running total in E?? I cant figure the darn thing out.
In column A I have a list of 5 Auditors labelled Q1 - Q5, 5 Coolum’s across in column F I enter in their scores as a % e.g. 80%. ...So Q1 - 50%, Q2 - 60%. In column A37-A41 I have Q1-Q5 listed, in Column B37-B41 I need to calculate the average deviation per Auditor eg. If Q1 has 2 entries of 50% and 75% return average value in cell A37 which should be 62.50%. I am trying to calculate the average for each Auditor. find attached example.
I want to place the atribute (Date as value): "LastAccessDate" of a file called "!FileSessionStart.nwd" in Sheet1.Cell A2 in my workbook - without opening/accessing" this "C:/so-and-so/!FileSessionStart.nwd" - just want to read and use the last accessed date of it.
How will a macro go finding this atribute of this particular file and place this atribute as value as described?
i had a subtotal sheet with more than 5000 rows of data.i applied subtotals for my data.i just want to serial numbers for each of the subtotal.what is the easy way for numbering my rows with sub total.
My subtotals are in column A.i inserted a column before it and want to show the row numbers which contain the subtotals.
Keeping track of racing point scores and I am trying to figure out a formula that will allow me to take the top 6 out of 8 values and total them. We compete in 8 races but the total points standings at the end of the season takes the best 6 out of 8.
For example
Racer 1 100 200 150 90 300 250 210 95
I am looking for a formula that will give me a total of the HIGHEST 6 scores. I tried the =max but that will only allow you to get the HIGHEST value.
I’m creating a spreadsheet (attached) that needs to divide up aisles in a warehouse into sections, so that each section has an equal (or as close as possible) amount of work. The “To, From” columns are aisle ranges and the “Moves” column is the amount of work in that range. I need a macro/formula to add up numbers under “Moves”, but only up to the point where the sum is as close as possible to the number in K2 (variable). It also needs to look at the number under “sections required” (I2) (variable) and then split the aisle ranges into that many sections.
Is there a function in excel that can look at an array of values and find the two values that equal a number.
I have a number 159. I have an array of 100 numbers but only two of them added together can equal 159. Rather than sort through every possible combination is there a function in excel that can do that?
I'm working on an excel for work. It lists the days on the column farthest left, and with some variables calculates the total number of tons we have for the day on another column. For part of it I'm wanting the program to calculate how many tons we process for each day. The problem is that each days will have a different number of entries. For example:
June first has 6 entries June second has 3 entries June third has 4 entries
So I'm wanting to make another column seperate from the original data that calculates total number of tons from the entries for the day without saying cell=sum(the 6 entries from the first), cell=sum(3 entries from the second).
I'm not sure how to go about this, I thought if I could get a recurring if statement that would test all of the entries for the date, and if it matches sum them up. I'm just not sure how to go about it.
I have a spreadsheet with a large list of plants. Each plant has a breakdown of colors by container size. Each cell contains a number that corresponds to a percent, e.g. a cell may contain the number 20, which would also mean this number is equal to 20%. I want to change all numbers to a percent of 100, or turn 20, for instance, into .20. There are many hundreds of numbers that I need to make a percent, so I was hoping I could do this in one fell swoop somehow. This percent number will be used in another spreadsheet for calculating on order. How do I do this?
I have another post here on this forum, but I'm afaid the formula is getting so complex that nobody is able to fully understand what I want. Instead I want to find a value between two numbers and add it to some IF sentences. It will do what I want, even if it's not that elegant.
I've looked at the SUMIF function but it did not do exactly what I wanted. It finds a number or adds numbers only if they are in range it seems.
What I want is the following: Return sum between 500 and 1000 in one cell.
Create a form where i would enter 2 numbers into 2 seperate boxes, and those numbers would be highlighted/bolded/shown in red from a list of 30 rows of numbers x 20 numbers in each row. these 2 numbers will not be the same all the time, below is just for an example
I have a large list of numbers in two columns. I need to know what numbers are in column A but don't appear in column B. For example if the numbers are 1 2 and 3 in column A but column B only has 1 and 2 I need to know that 3 is missing.
the only thing I can think of is doing =IF(A1=B1,"TRUE","FALSE") however typing this a thousand times would not be practical.
Is there a macro that can check column A against column B and tell me which ones are missing?
Find smallest numbers in the range ignoring zeros. I want it returned as value "1", all others - as value "0". Example: range A1:J1 contains - 5,0,7,3,6,5,8,0,9,3 desirable result in the range A2:J2 - 0,0,0,1,0,0,0,0,0,1
I am trying to find numbers from a string. I have for example words "EUR Fwd 9x12" and "Eur Fwd 11x15" And i want to write a function that reads the first number from a string if there is only one number before "x" or two numbers if there are 2 numbers. So I have tried to build following function:
Function NumbersInString(Word As String) As Integer Dim i As Integer Dim FirstNumberInString As Integer, SecondNumberInString As Integer For i = 1 To Len(Word) If IsNumeric(Mid(Word, i, 1)) Then FirstNumberInString = Mid(Word, i, 1) If IsNumeric(Mid(Word, i + 1, 1)) = False Then Exit Function Else SecondNumberInString = Mid(Word, i + 1, 1) End If End If
Next NumbersInString = FirstNumberInString & SecondNumberInString End Function
In Cell A1 I have a name (John Doe). In cell A2 I want the formula which will be a number total. In Cells A4:A20 I have a list of names with John being in several of them. In Cells J4:J20 I have numbers. There is data in between the name and numbers that I don't need.
So, I want A2 to search A4:A20 and everytime it sees John Doe to add the numbers that are 9 cells over (J4:J20). This is basically to show how many mistakes John has made (total). I tried =Sumproduct((A4:A20=A1), (J4:J20,1,0)). I know I am missing something or not on the right track.
