HLookup - Return Correct Number Of Rows Downwards In Table?

Feb 8, 2013

=HLOOKUP(G8,'Headline Assumptions'!$C$32:$F$37,E8,FALSE)

Above formula, in cell E8 is the number 3, however excel does not recognise this and returns 1. is there a way i can get E8 to see that it is a 3 in that cell and return the correct number of rows downwards in my table?

Items in Column A1 are calculated by (B2/4+5)*1.4 Items located under the columns 2000, 3000, 4000, etc... 10,000 are calculated by taking the top number, eg 2000/(A1 cell value)+the column B number. 2000/7+0 = 286 (rounded numbers)

I need to find an way to look up for x number (2000,3000,4000, etc...) find the smallest number in that column and then return the value in column A1.

HLOOKUP In HLOOKUP, Base Estimate Table In Excel

Jul 10, 2009

I am trying to import a BASE ESTIMATE table into EXCEL.

I have problems with most of the formulas, especially this one:

=VLOOKUP($E$2,$B$24:$P$604,HLOOKUP($E$3,$D$22:$L$604,1)+2)*HLOOKUP(HLOOKUP($E$3,$D$22:$L$604,1),$D$2 2:$L$23,2)

and this one

=ROUND((IF(AND(OR(E7>E5,E7>E6),E3<40000),E7,IF(AND(E6<E5,E3<40000),E6,E5)))*E8*1.055*1.06,2)+10

I am not sure if EXCEL allows a HLOOKUP within an HLOOKUP. If not, how can I get around this?

Hlookup To Return Address Instead Of Value

Oct 23, 2008

I have a workbook full of worksheets like so:

Main
Second
Third
Fourth

The main worksheet is a roll up page of sorts. It contains all of the information on all three other tabs. All updates entered on the main sheet will be distributed accordingly to each sheet the needs it VIA hlookup. At times, certain updates will be highlighted certain colors. From what I understand, there is no way to copy the color formatting using formulas and return the value.

So, I am trying to figure out a way to use VBA for this. I have dabbled a bit in VBA have think I have found it, except I have run into a substantial road block.

I will use the .hasformula to first check all cells in a range on the other sheets. If there is a formula, it will be an Hlookup only. Once it finds the formula, it then needs to copy the color of the source cell the hlookup is using to return data. It needs to copy the color of the cell, not the color of the text.

HLOOKUP- Query To Populate A Table In My Spreadsheet

Aug 29, 2007

I run a web query to populate a table in my spreadsheet. The data is dynamic - and on some days, I will get a couple of extra rows in the table (its weather data, so e.g. when its raining, they will forecast an extra row of how many mm, etc...)

To give a simple example, right now I use Hlookup to locate the value of F3 (the date) in my dynamic range of B26:G26 and step down 3 rows, where my needed temperature values are for that corresponding day. This works great like this already: =HLOOKUP(F3,B26:G29,3,FALSE)

The big issue is...what happens if my target values are not always 3 rows down? If the query refreshes with any extra rows, this reference is shifted. (Well, my starting "Anchor" is shifted)

HLOOKUP; HLookup To Find An Adjusted Midterm Grade

Oct 30, 2007

i'm trying to use HLookup to find an adjusted midterm grade that's given. but i have some conditions:

If student missed exam and has a zero – keep zero.
If student has a grade of 1-119 points, increase their grade 40 points.
If student has a grade of 120-125 points, increase their grade 35 points.
If student has a grade of 126-131 points, increase their grade 31 points.
If student has a grade of 132-139 points, increase their grade 27 points.

with these conditions, if my midterms grade is 120, how would i calculate it using HLookup? i worked on it but i keep getting the #NA! error.
=H4+HLOOKUP(H4,B24:D25,2).

Hlookup Over Multiple Rows?

Jun Gross Profit  YZAAABACADAEAF45MonTuesWedThursFriSatSunTotal
46      1 47      6,166       6,166 48        492345678 505,2187,1159,4868,06413,75512,8076,166     62,611 51        529101112131415 535,2187,1159,4868,06413,75512,8076,166     62,611 54        5516171819202122 565,2187,1159,4868,06413,75512,8076,166     62,611 57        5823242526272829 595,2187,1159,4868,06413,7559,9617,589     61,188 60        6130       626,641             6,641

What I would like is to be able to type in a number (1-30) and have it give me the number underneath that number. So if I typed in the number 18, it would give me 9,486.

I have tried index(match), dynamic ranges, but I must be doing something wrong.

I know organizing the data differently would be easier, but I have external software that spits out the reports like this so continuously reorganizing the data would end up taking a lot more time.

Moving On A Hlookup By A Number Of Cells Each Time?

Nov 2, 2009

I have been given a spreadsheet to fix as the user says the charts/graphs aren't adding the new data.

But when I looked closer at the workbook the whole thing just seemed a little wrong to me

Please see the workbook attached.

All the data is entered into the sheet 'Data Entry'.

Then on the 'Data' sheet it should pull thru some key values but half of it isn't done and it isn't very smart.

I have created a 'TEST Data' sheet so I could start messing with it.

I was going to pull the data thru from 'Data Entry' into the 'TEST Data' sheet using a Hlookup to make sure it worked before i messd with the actual 'Data' sheet.

The problem I am having is moving/copying the Hlookup across.

On the 'TEST data' sheet the Hlookup is as follows and is correct:

=HLOOKUP($A$5,'Data Entry'!$C$4:$M$472,2,FALSE)

But the next set of (Week 2) is not in the 2nd or even 3rd row of the array, its in row 11......... thats 9 rows down from the original.

Moving on the data i want to bring back is always 9 more than the last so the Hlookups should look like:

=HLOOKUP($A$5,'Data Entry'!$C$4:$M$472,11,FALSE)
=HLOOKUP($A$5,'Data Entry'!$C$4:$M$472,20,FALSE)
=HLOOKUP($A$5,'Data Entry'!$C$4:$M$472,29,FALSE)

etc etc

Can any of you guys out there help on how I can do this or it may not even be a Hlookup but something even smarter!!

The strangest thing is happen. The part of formula underlined and the part bolded are identifical. For some reason, excel is unable to find the value in the underlined portion but is able to find the value in the bolded portion. As a result, I'm getting a #N/A result. how this can be corrected?

Return Information On Same Row If Starting Value Is Correct

Feb 11, 2009

I need the formula for statistical data analysis for a research project i'm helping out with, and this is too complicated for me to know where to even begin searching for the information. The problem is this:

I have a sheet (called Sheet1) containing 9009 rows of information on columns A to AL. I am interested in searching for the starting sequences of codes contained in column AI and returning values on the same row but in a different column. The formula that works so far is this (note: I use Excel 2003 and a swedish version, translated the formulas though)

=IF(ISNA(MATCH("N06*";Sheet1!AI:AI;0));"error";INDIRECT(ADDRESS(MATCH("N06*";Sheet1!AI:AI;0)*1;1;1;T RUE;"Sheet1")))

I havent come up with this formula entirely on my own so dont think my expertise is this high In any case, this formula gives me the value of the A-column in the same row as the first N06 found in the AI column. If N06 isn't found anywhere in AI, it gives me "error". The problem is this: I want it to "continue" searching column AI for strings starting with N06 and returning the values in the A-column for the following N06s found. I basically want to wash out all rows of information that dont contain the string N06 in AI, and get the new information on another sheet.

To make it even clearer: I want to have all values on column A on a new sheet, but only where the AI value on the same row starts with N06. Eventually I want other columns as well, and also search for other codes, but that should be easy to figure out once I get the initial formula.

VLookup (or HLookup) Cell With Reference Rather Than Actual Number

Oct 13, 2011

I am doing a vlookup on a cell range where the value I'm trying to lookup (a date) exists, but it's not an actual number in the cell...it's a reference to another cell with that value (somewhere completely different).

So, I'm trying to vlookup(date(1/1/2011),A1:A12,2,false) to get the B column value.

A B
1/1/2011 #
2/1/2011 #
...
12/1/2011 #

However, the A column is not the actual date. It is a reference to another cell somewhere completely different that has the actual date 1/1/2011.

When I do a vlookup trying to find 1/1/2011, it can't see it there unless I overwrite the reference in A1 (for instance) with the actual date.

Can I do a vlookup and keep my cell references?

Return Value When Another Value Is Present And If Value Is In Correct Date And Time

Apr 11, 2012

I have done a VBA course but am struggling to apply it to my situation. What I want to do is on one spreadsheet, I have a column with "shift, date, grade 1, grade 3, quarantine" in it, and in the cells next to it I want an operator to enter either "day" or "night" next to shift, and the date. Next to the others I want the total weight of the appropriate product made in that time. The spreadsheet I will be feeding off is quite big with a lot of information in it. Down the left hand side is the roll number (we make rollstock). Further along on that same row will be the date, the weight, and a grading (putting it into grade 1, 3, quarantine etc). Our shifts run from 7am to 6:59pm, and 7pm to 6:59am. Which shift the roll comes under is determined by it's end time (also in that row). So basically, I need VBA to say sum up all of column [weights] if column [date] = [date cell in working spreadsheet] and if working spreadsheet says day then column [roll end time] =7:00-18:59 and if working spreadsheet says night then column [roll end time] =19:00-6:59 and also if column [grade] = [grade cell in working spreadsheet] ....

Oh, also on the feed spreadsheet i have a column that i put in a little code date, "AP04" for 4th of april kind of thing, rolls being made before 6:59am on the 5th of april being put into the 5th april as they need to be counted under 4th april as they are 4th april night shift (even though the date will stay 5th april)...

Delete Number Table Rows Using VBA

Jul 19, 2013

Im trying to use VBA to copy old entries from a table on one sheet, to a history table on another sheet once they have been there for two weeks.

That much has been accomplished. However, I would also like the old entries to be removed from the original table.

Each entry is numbered using the following method:

If text is entered into the second column in a row, excel takes the number of the entry before that, adds 1 and places this number in a column outside of the table. The first column of each row then references this number. This way your entry is numbered as soon as you type it in. The reason I referenced outside the table and did not type the formula in the first column directly is because when I did and excel deleted a row through visual basic it messed up the rest of the table. Referencing outside fixes that problem, but there is another.

I have several columns for conditional formatting to the right of my table, full of 1s and 0s. When a row gets deleted in the table, all remaining rows shift up but continue to conditionally format based on the cells they were originally along side of. The problem is, those cells recalculate for the row in the table that is now along side of it.

Is there any way I could make the formulas in those columns evaluate only once and to not re-evaluate once something has moved?

Keep Rows Number In Table Consistent

This is fine if I just have one week to sort, but I find I now have 52 weeks of data and each week could have a different number of stores. I just need the macro below to run each time a new week starts. I can easily put a space (or something else) at the start of each new week so that a " loop" can check for it.

For i = 1 To 150
If ActiveSheet. Cells(i, 1).Value <> i Then
ActiveSheet.Rows(i).Insert

Creating Correct Pivot Table Data Fields In VBA?

Aug 1, 2012

Basically I've jumped straight in and have tried to recreate a report I need to produce which requires a pivot table. I have managed to create the code I need to produce a pivot table in a new sheet with all of the headers available for analysis. Where I'm struggling is in getting the pivot to show the datafields correctly.

The list that I am creating the pivot from has about 30 headers. 20 or so are analysis fields with the remainder being various figures; monthly plan, monthly actual, monthly variance etc..

The pivot table I need to create needs all analysis fields available to the end user for manipulation, which I have managed to do. I have created rows for sales areas, also with no problem. It also needs the above plan, actual and variance fields in columns and as datafields. This is where I'm having trouble. When I create the pivot manually it ends up with 1 row and 3 separate columns with summed data in each. I have checked the VBA code, copied it and used it again. The pivot table comes out with 1 row but with the data fields stacked one on top of each other. Any minor alterations that I can think of, (for example adding a position = 1, position = 2 etc.), either creates a chaotic looking sheet or an error.

I've checked various posts on pivot tables but am having trouble understanding the way in which I can correct this. Is there a straightforward command that I'm missing? Do I need to start declaring variables for pivot items?

Excel 2010 :: Keeping Manually Entered Table Data Associated With Correct Row?

Jan 14, 2014

I have a table created in Excel 2010 by a SQL query. the query pulls 3 columns of data - Resource Name, Contract Company, Labor Category. I then add a column called "KEY". KEY is derived using VLOOKUP. VLOOKUP is matching the Contract Company from the table created with SQL to a table called "Rate Key" in another worksheet in the spreadsheet based on the matching the Contract Company. That all works fine. If the table changes due to changes in data coming from the SQL db, the column I've added using VLOOKUP recalculates correctly. Then I add 2 more columns. One is called RATE - which is a number that I manually type in. The last column is called RCode and is calculated by the RATE times the KEY. Whenever I refresh the SQL query, all of the the calculated rows work fine; however, the data in the RATE column that I manually enter does not move - it stays with the row regardless of whether or not the name changes when the new SQL data comes over. How do I get the values manually entered in the RATE column to move with the correct row when the rows change?
