Unexpected HLOOKUP Results (Returning MAX/MIN Values From Multiple Rows In A Named Range)

Nov 6, 2009

This is a floowup to the issue that was originally posted as "Returning MAX/MIN values from multiple rows in a named range ". I marked that post as solved since I have worked through part of the issue and since have a different one.

Excel 2010 :: Using VBA For Sub-Totaling Returning Unexpected Values

May 8, 2014

This relates to this thread - [URL] .....

This is the only macro in this file

[Code] .....

It will perform the sub-totalling for the column that has the current active cell

When I select Column I

It does.....
-for each blue cell it finds it provides a total of all the white cells bellow it
-for each yellow cell it find it provides a total of all the blue cells bellow it until it reaches a yellow cell

It works backwards, so not exactly as I've just described, but that isn't the problem

Problem is -
UK Excel 2010 - results are as expected
US Excel 2010 - returns zero values for totals

We've possibly narrowed the problem down to when it looks at cell properties, more specifically -- If Cells(rowX, 1).Interior.ColorIndex = 20 Then

How to get results in blue and yellow cells when you select a cell in column K then execute the CreateTotals macro.

Attached File : Example-1p.xlsm

Capturing Multiple HLOOKUP Results In An Array

Feb 26, 2009

I was provided previously with the code for a VLOOKUPS function for a project of mine by JBeaucaire. It can be found here, in the returned file he provided to me: VLOOKUPS multiple results in a drop down list.

The set up works wonderfully. But now I'm trying to accomplish something that is just a little bit different. I'm trying to to populate an array with all the results returned from an HLOOKUP formula. I was wondering if anybody had any code written that might create an HLOOKUPS function. I've tried to tweak the code provided for the VLOOKUPS function by JBeaucaire but I'm a novice, novice programmer and can only pull off simple functions and procedures.

Range().Value = Now Returning Time In Multiple Rows

Apr 30, 2008

The purpose of my code is to time production cycles for heavy equipment. There are five - six segments in the cycle, and it's possible that not every segment is included in each cycle. It's also possible that the cycle will not go in sequential order.

Here's a snippet of
Sub MacroD()
Dim LR As Long
LR = Range("D" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row + 1
ActiveSheet.Unprotect
Range("D18:D" & LR).Value = Now
UserForm1.ListBox1.Text = "Time"
UserForm1.ListBox1.SetFocus
' UserForm1.Show
End Sub

Sub MacroF()
Dim LR As Long
LR = Range("F" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row + 1
ActiveSheet.Unprotect
Range("F18:F" & LR).Value = Now
UserForm1.ListBox1.Text = "Time"
UserForm1.ListBox1.SetFocus
' UserForm1.Show
End Sub

My problem is that when the macro runs, it returns the time in more than one row and overwrites the previous timestamp. It starts in row 17, and will record the first time in 17 and 18. When the macro is run again, the time will be recorded in 18 and 19. When it's run a third time, the timestamp is recorded in 18, 19, and 20. So essentially, I'm losing all of my previously recorded data. When I finish, all I have left is the timestamp in row 17 and whatever the last time recorded is.

VBA Returning Cell Range From Multiple Rows And Columns?

Apr 24, 2014

I'm attempting to match a name with the row and column numbers of data that is laid out in a grid format. It looks something like this:

Denson
Matthews
Smith

[Code]....

This works just fine, except for the fact that once in awhile the same name will appear in the grid twice, and the row and column returned will be off (it will return the row for one of the Smiths, for example, and the column for the other).

I know why this is occurring so I'm looking for a better way to do this. The good part is that I don't necessarily need both locations returned for each "Smith" ; I just need the correct row and column for at least one of the instances. I'm looking for a better way to do this.

Unexpected Standard Deviations Results

Dec 2, 2009

In the attached worksheet, we track thickness of a variety of products and record them based upon lot number. I am trying to perform statistical analysis of those products and plot the averages.

Our products are in roll form. We cut to specific widths and lengths from these "master" rolls. We take 3 measurements across the width and several times throughout the roll length. We can have multiple rolls making up 1 lot and due to demand switch between products and try to use FIFO but that doesn't always work. I have keying in historical data and realized my standard deviation is way off but I don't know why.

Returning Multiple Results For One Lookup Value

Jan 28, 2009

I have been searching all day about this topic and while there are many "solutions" none of them fits my criteria and I can't figure out how to tailor it.

I am using a very basic data sheet to populate a purchase order. I want to be able to search a style and have all the data (color, units and price) automatically fill in upon entering the style number, I have been using vlookup but this only works if there is one color per style.

I have found different lookup functions that give the value +1 when the data is sorted but it returns the value even if it doens't fit the search criteria, I only want to return the second value if it correlates to the initial lookup

Hlookup Over Multiple Rows?

Jul 31, 2014

I have the following table of data:

Jun Gross Profit  YZAAABACADAEAF45MonTuesWedThursFriSatSunTotal
46      1 47      6,166       6,166 48        492345678 505,2187,1159,4868,06413,75512,8076,166     62,611 51        529101112131415 535,2187,1159,4868,06413,75512,8076,166     62,611 54        5516171819202122 565,2187,1159,4868,06413,75512,8076,166     62,611 57        5823242526272829 595,2187,1159,4868,06413,7559,9617,589     61,188 60        6130       626,641             6,641

What I would like is to be able to type in a number (1-30) and have it give me the number underneath that number. So if I typed in the number 18, it would give me 9,486.

I have tried index(match), dynamic ranges, but I must be doing something wrong.

I know organizing the data differently would be easier, but I have external software that spits out the reports like this so continuously reorganizing the data would end up taking a lot more time.

Returning Advanced Filter Results Into Row Not Range

I am trying to create an advanced filter that filters my results into a row.

e.g.

would return

Shane Tom Paul Mike

I have tried changing this piece of code

Range("M1:M300").AdvancedFilter Action:=xlFilterCopy, CriteriaRange:=Columns("M:M"), CopyToRange:=Rows("25:25"), Unique:=True

The problem is with

CopyToRange:=Rows("25:25")

How To Get Multiple Dropdown Lists To Populate Results In Named Cell

Sep 28, 2012

I was just given a task at the office of creating a in depth excel spreadsheet. Here is what I need:

I have one drop down list that represents the state a person lives in.
I have another drop down list that represents the the type of property it is.

If you select CA in drop down 1 and Multi Family in drop down 2 you get the end result in (specific) cell.

Then if you select AZ in drop down 1 and SFR in drop down 2 you get different end result in named cell.

How can I get items within 2 different drop down list to call up the end result in a 3rd cell?

Using Hlookup With Named Ranges?

May 28, 2014

I have 8 branch's data (on 8 separate sheets) which I have Named (in excel) by referring to the range for that Branch's data. My named ranges are:

ct_lookup_act
dbn_lookup_act
pe_lookup_act

etc.

On the first sheet of the workbook I would like to be able to select a branch from a dropdown and then the sheet should display selected data only for that branch using a Hlookup function (all the data for each branch are in identical sized ranges and are ordered the same).

I have tried the following:

Cell A1 = dropdown list of available branches (ct,dbn,pe....etc) - as an example choose "ct"
Cell A2 = concatenate (a1,"_lookup_act") - and I have named cell A2 as "which_branch" - and in this example the data in A2 would be "ct_lookup_act"

Cell A5 = hlookup("Mar 14",which_branch,2,false)

Result:

the hlookup function returns #N/A because it is looking for "Mar 14" in the range defined by "which_branch" - ie cell A2, instead of looking in the range defined by "ct_lookup_act" (as an example).

INDEX With Multiple Criteria And Returning Multiple Rows But Only The Two Most Recent

Jun 10, 2013

I have a spreadsheet of prices (raw data), and I need to pull out both the most recent price for each item for a specific customer code for each item, as well as the second most recent price, (essentially the old price), for that customer code for each item.

I have columns for ITEM (code), PTC (Customer Code), PRICE, and EFF (Effective Date). For each item code, there are multiple prices for multiple customers, such as in the linked workbook.

I am currently using the formula, =INDEX(PRICE,MATCH(1,(F2=ITEM)*(G2=PTC),0)) to pull out the last price. This works because the last price is on top based on sorting. What I need is a formula that pulls out the next oldest price for that item/ptc combo. I tried using the SMALL function to no success.

Searching Values And Returning Entire Rows

Oct 3, 2013

I have created a worksheet with 7 Tabs. 6 of the tabs are tables of existing parts and their catalog information. The Front Sheet I want to be a place where people can select data via a drop down or typed in, and in turn have that headsheet display the results of the search.

I have the 6 tabs broken down by part type, and figured those can easily enough be the first choice on my worksheet. So by picking that I can direct excel to which tab we want to run the search on, but ater that I'm drawing a blank.

For an example, say I'm looking for a Elbow that has a 6 size on one end. I would like to use the drop down to choose "Elbows" and then like to select/type 6 in the End 1 size box and have Excel show me all the reslts from the Elbow Tab that match that criteria.

Lookup Returning Multiple Columns And Rows?

Oct 8, 2013

I'm working on a database right now for our school, similar to a directory. What I want to do is be able to look up what items a staff member has been issued and when/if they were returned. What I have right now is one sheet with all the information about the staff that looks like the one below. I want to create a separate sheet where you could look up a staff member by last name and can find all the information in the array relative the the specific cell looked up.

Last Name
First Name
Position
Building
Items

So, on the "lookup" sheet, I want to be able to input either Doe and have the look up return cells B2:E6, or if I input Smith it should return cells B7:D11.

I've been experimenting with Vlookup, hlookup, index, and match but haven't been able to get exactly what I want..

Returning Multiple Values As Dropdown List?

Apr 24, 2013

Actually I plan to create an eRequisition Form for our branch sites. My focus would be the consumable items of Lexmark printers. I want to create cascading drop-down lists based on data table (worksheet : All) as per attached. From lots of examples I've seen in this or other similar forums, I notice that in order to allow this cascading to work is by creating column with header name identical with the input in the 1st List. But I'm thinking, if I need to do that, then there gonna be hundreds or maybe thousands columns to create as the number of branches are expanding, so I think tht should not be practical.

I found examples that shows how lookup 1 value can return multiple values but I totally cannot think of a way to allow those multiple values to be returned as dropdown list rather than displaying all in rows of the worksheet.

What I need is that, in 1st list, upon selecting the branch, it'll populate all items related to the branch and when selecting the item, it'll populate brand/model list for the particular item only. The input in the dropdown list should not have duplicates. Been trying using pivot to do this with macro that enables auto refresh once any changes made in the table.

create this cascading drop-down lists just based on the table as per attached? I really want to avoid having to create extra tables to allow this cascading to work.

Mutiply Values In Range With Values In Another & Sum Results

Sep 27, 2007

I have two named ranges 'wrkNRP' and 'wrkQTY'.

Instead of totalling each range seperately, I need a way (within VBA) to go through every value in both ranges and mutiply them together, then record the total- e.g.

wrkNRP has the values
10
20
30
40

wrkQTY has the values
10
20
30
40

Then I need a way to do (10*10)+(20*20)+(30*30)+(40*40)

Is this possible WITHOUT adding an additional column?

Wildcard Searching For Multiple Values And Returning A Result?

French
US
France
German
Portuguese
+8000 more various values

I am looking for a formula that can search for multiple values e.g. english, us, uk and united and then return the value "Yes".

I was looking for something that includes wildcard searches or contains so that it is not affected by upper or lower case but combining this with multiple searches was proving difficult.

Excel 2003 :: Returning Multiple Values From Index?

Apr 20, 2013

I am using the following formula:

to return the name (drange) of a person who was visited by "SH" (qrange), more than 30 days ago (trange).

There are faults in my formula, and if I'm honest I don't entirely understand it !

I need to return all of the names of people who were visited by "SH" more than 30 days ago. So I need the next value, and the next which is also over 30, by copying the formula down to the next cell and the next. My problem is that I get the first value (which is correct) and then the next ones are blank.

To make matters worse, the first value I get is only correct if i DON'T enter it as an array. If I do enter it as an array, I get the first row of the spreadsheet.

Matching Multiple Criteria On Single Rows And Returning Result?

The only unique criteria I have to do this are customer surname and customer postcode.

In the Customer details spreadsheet I'm attempting to enter a formula which will look at the specific surname & postcode held on the row in which it is entered. It will then look at all of the rows on the other spreadsheet and determine whether any of them meet both criteria.

If they do I'd like it to display "match" if they don't I'd like it to display "no match"
