Have 300 Cells, Want Them In One, Seperated By Comma
Aug 4, 2009
I think this is a really easy question but I can't seem to think of an easy answer. I have 300 cells in one column I want to have combined into one cell, seperated by commas. I know I could just =A1&","&A2&","&... but this is not what I want to spend my afternoon doing. Is there a better way of doing this?

I need to have an input box, although I need to have multiple entries within the box seperated by a comma, and then the filter displays only the entries entered in from the input box.

I am attemping to transpose a column of data into a single cell. I have a list of contact information, and one of the columns is for e-mail addresses. There are filters to the right of the data with different categories so the contact information can be filtered according to the different criteria. Ultimately, the people using the spreadsheet want to use those filters to create a list of e-mail addresses to send their distributions to.
The people who are using this don't have Outlook so we can't use an output to add them to the Outlook address book. We would like to make one cell at the bottom of all the data which would include all the e-mail addresses from that column seperated with a semi colon so they can just copy the contents of that cell and paste that into the To: field on their e-mail program. I've tried several different things but I've not been able to find a solution.

I'm a basic excel user really and cannot find a function that will allow me to complete the following:
CELL A1 includes the following sequence of numbers: 1,2,1,0,2,3
I would like to know how to put a formula/function into CELL B1 that sums up the sequence of numbers in CELL A1 (i.e 1+2+1+0+2+3)

I found code on this site after searching a long time that has worked well in a larger macro I'm writing for use in Excel 2003 usage. However, I'm stumped on how to achieve the following on the attached sample: find and remove the number in A2 from the list in E2 then count the individual numbers seperated by commas in E2 and post the results in G2 Repeat the same sequence for C2, D2 and F2

I have rows of data in one column. I want to combine them all into one cell and have each row on a new line.
I've tried =A1 & char(10) & A2, (and a bunch of other char(#s) for carriage return) but it just shows an open box in place of the char().

I have come up with this bit of code by joining in two separate sets of code that I used earlier. What I want to do is this, for a given range I need to find each cell that has a comma and once that cell is found a formula has to be applied in a cell few columns to the left.. Here is the code that I am using..
Code:
Sub Macro8()
Dim i As Long
For i = 1 To 1000
[Code]...
The sheet can be downloaded from here, I want column H to be (Col B / Col C) whenever Col A has a cell with comma in it. For this sheet col H needs to be populated 3 in places. The code above does it only for first instance.

I receive a large spread sheet weekly, one or the column contains comma separated values (CSV), I need to separate those values 1 per cell. Maximum CSV is 5; I would need to get the output to 5 cells next to them, Example,
Source data
(A1) 10,11,12,13,14
Output needed
(B1) 10
(C1) 11
(D1) 12
(E1) 13
(F1) 14
(note, not all field contain 5 values, but they all contain at least one)

I have a 5K rows of data, each including a cell (AD) of multiple number values, separated by comma. I would like to create a new row for each unique number in column AD such that there remains only one unique value for every AD cell.
If possible, I would prefer an in-cell formula rather than a macro.

I have several lists of hundreds of emails that I need to list in an email string via Lotus Notes. I need a space and comma in between each name, ex:
john.doe@dm.com, john.doe1@dm.com, john.doe2@dm.com
I am using the below formula manually but it is taking too long. How to automate this? Is there a way to create the space and comma for as long as the list is?
=CONCATENATE(B6,", ",B7,", ",B8,", ",B9,", ",B10,", ",B12,", ",B13,", ",B14,", ",B15,", ",B16,", ",B17)

Table A: I have data separated by coma & space in cells A1:A4
A: Data Table
*A110, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60
211, 21, 31, 41, 51, 70
316, 19, 37, 48, 59, 81
418, 23, 33, 42, 57, 78
Table B: I want to calculate difference between cells A1:A2, A2:A3 and so on…
And if it is possible as shown in cell B2:B4
B: Result Table
*AB110, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60
211, 21, 31, 41, 51, 70
+1, +1, +1, +1, +1, +1
316, 19, 37, 48, 59, 81
+5, -2, +6, +7, +9, +11
418, 23, 33, 42, 57, 78
+2, +4, -4, -6, -2, -3
Separating cells A1:A4 data in separate cells can do this.
But if it is possible solution can be done as shown by VBA will be greater.

I want to write a formula/script that searches file names in Column "A" for an item number located in Column "B", then combines all file names containing that item number into Column "C" with comma separations. Each item number will have a different number of file names associated with it (between 1 and 10 files), and there are about 2000 different item numbers being crossed with about 7000 file names.
Here is an example completed with a CONCATENATE formula:
File Name

I have a macro that takes the column of data from D on Sheet 1, pastes it into A on Sheet 3, gets rid of duplicates and then, in B1, combines all the numbers from A into a comma-separated string. The only problem is that it puts a comma at the beginning of the string. Is there something I can do to make that first comma not be there?

Example: Column A has a mixture of letters and numbers. ie AU1234 or AU5678 Always the letters will be first, but not sure if 2 or 3 letters. Need to insert space between letters and numbers.
I have so far. " =(left(a2,2)) & " " & (mid(a2,3,(len(a2)-2))) " this works if all are only 2 letters...
Now. What I need to do is open a .csv (will do manually) then hit something like ctrl-alt-k to run macro.
Step 1: Insert a column next to A, check rows down and for however many rows, make above formula (include 2 or 3 letters) to insert space between letters and numbers, select the new column, copy, select column a and overwrite with the values from the new column. ie turn 'A2' from "AU1234" to "AU 1234" and 'A3' from "AU4567" to "AU 4567" .
Step 2: Column D has comma delimited fields. Column F also has comma delimited fields. both D and F will always have the same number of fields. D will be something like 1234,2345,3456 ------ in this case 3 fields but could be over 100 fields
F will be something like M0002456 (04P), M0002457 (05P), M1230477 (02A).
Need to split both D and G from row A2 simultaneously from comma fields to rows. copying all other data from row. and insert before the next set of data in what was previously A3 and (in this case *should* be moved down to A5 because of the 2 inserted lines from the 2 extra fields).
E.g.: Column A Row 2 "AU 1234" Column B Row 2 "data1" Column C Row 2 "data2" Column D Row2 "1234" Column E Row 2 "data3" Column F Row 2 "M0002456 (04P)"
Column A Row 3 "AU 1234" Column B Row 3 "data1" Column C Row 3 "data2" Column D Row 3 "2345" Column E Row 3 "data3" Column F Row 3 "M0002457 (05P)"
Column A Row 4 "AU 1234" Column B Row 4 "data1" Column C Row 4 "data2" Column D Row 4 "3456" Column E Row 4 "data3" Column F Row 4 "M1230477 (02A)"
Then carry on to next row which may have only one field and can be ignored/skipped to the next which may have 100 fields which will need to be split to rows and inserted...etc....
Step 3
Remove all the "space Bracket-data-Bracket" ie " (04P) from column F

I have two ways to export Forex data to Excel for analysis by another trading program. This exported data appears either as mm/dd/yyyy (in which case the cell alignment is inconsistent for some reason) or yyyy.mm.dd and I need to convert it to either yyyymmdd or dd/mm/yy.
I have tried the Data>Text to Columns Wizard without success and I have read through various other threads here, but they seem to all want to convert "in the other direction" !

How can i merge all the columns from Column D to Column Y in Column Z. The seperator between the Columncontents should be numbers in format "<<1>>" for column D, "<<2>>" for column E,"<<2>>" for column F........
i have a wordlist(arabic from right to left lanuage) containing words and meanings. Column A contains Words, Colulmn B contains Transcription, Column C contains Grammer information and the following Columns up to Column Y contain of Meanings.
!!!The meanings start with Column D which is then followed by E,F,G... Y. If any column cell is empty then it would mean, that the following cells of corresponding columns are also empty. For example if Colulmn D has content but Column E not, then it means that F,G,H...Y are also empty!

how to split one large worksheet into several worksheets using VBA. The only criteria I have to go on in the large worksheet is the existence of blank rows between each chunk of data I want on it's own worksheet.
Please see the attached zip file. There are 39 chunks of similar (but varying in number of rows) data that are separated by 3 blank rows, so I want my workbook be split into 39 new worksheets. My goal is to get the data into list/table format so I can work with it more easily and export into Access etc.
Also, just out of curiosity, is it possible to convert a HTM file into CSV? The attached data starts life as a HTM file that I just convert to XLS

I have an excel file which contains 2 set of data. 1 with 14 rows and other with 20 rows. These are randomly distributed in the sheet and are abut 1000 of data set in a sheet with a combination of 14 and 20 row data set. Data is separated by blank rows, i.e. if it is 14 row data set it would have a blank after 14th row and similarly a blank after 20th row for a 20 row data set. Following the blank another data set starts which might be of 14 or 20 again. I have attached a sample sheet for reference.
